My favourite Grand Slam is here!! I love it because of the night matches. Hopefully we'll see a lot of 5 setters that end around 12am.

Djokovic got booed yesterday when he retired during his match due to an eye infection.  

I didn't see the 3rd set between Fritz and Querrey but somehow I knew Fritz would have a lapse.  Like I said before, Sam is a terrible player (especially for someone of his height and reach) but he's not dumb.  He had a sense that Fritz was having a lapse in focus and took advantage.  Fritz needs to get more experience and hopefully he'll figure out how to regain focus in a match when something like this happens in future.  Staying healthy is also a must (I'm looking at you Nick Kyrgios!) because a lot of these young guys seem to have physical issues at a very young age now.

Lets hope Dominic beats Sam tonight. Dominic has a great chance at adding another tournament win to his collection. He has been playing great tennis.

Great first set! Thiem is the beast…LOL

Maybe all the excitement of the Sloane Stephens vs. Dominika Cibulkova match has sort of sapped most of my enthusiasm but my attention span with this Thiem vs. Tomic match isn't the same.  Still a decent quality match though.

Thiem wins!  Now is a solid #14 in the rankings. I see him cracking the top 10 in a few weeks.

Grigor seems to be drawn to women he clearly cannot handle when all is said and done.

 

Grigor..I remember all the controversy when he would kiss the guys after matches. His game was actually better during that time. Now he is too busy dating famous females to care about his game.

Lleyton Hewitt cannot let go already.  He's not Davis Cup captain for 2 minutes before deciding to sub himself in for Kyrgios, who has a viral infection.  People are joking that this gives Hewitt another chance to lose yet another 5 set match.  

Without Nick, I think the American squad's chances to win this tie just rose.

Hewitt needs to retire from tennis all together. No Davis Cup…nada….LOL….I can't take him anymore. He still thinks he can compete with the newbie players. He is just embarrassing himself. Who is playing for the Americans? I know coverage starts tomorrow night on Tennis Channel.

For the U.S., I think Isner, Sock and the Bryans, I haven't checked lately to see who else was going.  I wonder if Querrey is also there?  With his recent success, he could've been asked to travel and practice with the team to be available.

 

Canada will have neither Raonic nor Nestor, who is one of Canada's best doubles players.  

Raonic foot was injured during the Aussie Open I believe he won't be playing next week in the desert …love that tournament….I hear that Venus will finally return to that tournament too.
