Members DrewH
That can be argued by how it is interpreted. Yes, Sweeney, Dattilo, Scott, Nichols, Evans, Madison and Beemer were the B-team when the storylines took a drastic change for the worse. We had many talks about this on the radio show. Ryan said that Hogan had to revert to his "B-stories" because the main storylines couldn't be told because of the budget. So yes, that makes the actors listed the "B-team." I don't think Drake was referring to them as B-actors. Thay may be jumping the gun. They were part of the B-stories, which makes them the B-team. It all depends on how you take that. Members Ridge
This is so tried and tested. This show has gone through this now E V E R Y year for the past 6 or 7 at least! What happened to saying "f- u NBC" and inflating the cast?? That was surely not the case. This show has no clue on what to do to get back its viewers it tries returning cast members but forgets the most important part: THE STORY. This show will not benefit from a cast deflation, IMO. No matter who it is.
Members Faulkner
The damage is done. The JER aficionados have jumped ship, and I get the impression they aren't the types who will return. If only they can stop the bleeding...
Members PhoenixRising05
Yes, but Drake didn't talk about the stories. He was talking about the actors being used. He specifically was asked about those that carried the load those 4-5 months and he said that they were the B-Team and now the A-Team was coming in to save the day. It's one thing to say we didn't have our A-stories out there or that the people who were on were not the right people at this moment in time. He took a shot at their talent, just like Farah did when she made her comments about being in story with Darin and Ashley last Fall. In no way can Sweeney, Dattilo, MBE, and SN even be considered B-Team based on their long histories with the show and Scott, Madison, and Beemer have talent that far surpasses someone that would be implied to be a B-actor. It's just hard for me to give Drake the benefit of the doubt when he came off like an egotistical ass in 3 straight interviews during a one month span and is one who never faced being on the backburner once before last summer. Plus all his hype about his "Last Mission" event and his blatant hints to the TPTB just made him come off worse IMO. I just don't see how the case can be made that what he said wasn't a shot at some talented actors and actresses, most of which are vets. Hell, he even insulted Lauren Koslow, who aired a fair amount during that time. She is definitely not a B-actress. This isn't the first time he shot himself in the foot. He did it during the Jate chat two years ago too and didn't even try much to take it back. He simply stopped talking to the press and, when he finally does talk, it's to take shots at castmates and to send messages to the TPTB. I used to love Drake and both his John and Roman characters but enough is enough. All this on top of his eroding skills is enough for me to put him out to pasture. JMO. Members oltlwatcher
Thanks for the spoilers but OMG Roman just got better from being stabbed and now he is drugged? Poor Roman! Lucas is way too good ...
Members MikeGoldy
Cazn Josh Taylor's Roman PLEASE be one of the characters written out? There is no need for him; Bo, John, and Abe certainly do whatever Roman does on the show. Also, there truly isn't any need for Thaoo; let Tony and Anna ride off in the sunset, and they can have a happy ending. DAYS has way too many "leading men." pushing
Members sungrey
This is a touchy situation. I do agree that Drake hasn't been the easiest actor in terms of dealing with storylines and the press, etc. Part of it is the storyline. Yes, I blame James Reilly for part of this (Jate never should have been tried), but I also blame the budget and other stuff for John's back-burner year so far. But what if you wrote out John? Would you risk losing Deidre Hall too? I'm not a J&M groupie (I still loooooooove me my Shelle) and I admit that the couple has seen better days, but what damage would you do to the show if one or both left/were fired? Yes, this was back in the days when soaps had many more viewers, but when Genie Francis left GH in 1982, many fans simply stopped watching the show. Eliminating one-half of a supercouple cost the show dearly in terms of audience. In this day and age, I don't think you can toy with losing more viewers this way. If you tampered with one of the big couples, you'd risk cutting out a huge chunk of viewership.
Members DrewH
I still believe that it is in the way you take what he said. He referred to them as the B-team because yes, they were actors that were part of the B-team because their storylines had to be played because the main storylines that Hogan wanted to write for were not possible. So yes, they were the B-team. And now, when John/Marlena/Bo/Hope were brought back on, the A-team was finally coming back. He says this because they were the A-team in the fall and December. I think it's making it more than what it is. I don't find it offensive at all. And what you're referring to with the JATE situation, since when is it a problem for an actor to voice their opinion? Take OLTL right now for instance. Both Kassie DePaiva and Trevor St. John are both very vocal in that they don't want Todd and Blair reutnited again because they are bored with that pairing. Are they receiving all of this backlash? Absolutely not. They're doing nothing wrong to receive it. THat is the same boat Drake was in back then. He was tired of J&M constantly reuniting only to be seperated again. It's okay for an actor to speak up about the direction of his character. Members Sweet_VeeVee24
In my honest opinion, I don't want to be watching J&M scenes if one actor isn't truly into playing the scenes...there are times when Drake just looks bored with what he's saying/doing; and that's fine if he is, but that's not why I watched the show. I've always been a Marlena/John fan, but if someone's heart isn't in at times, it shows. To me, the show is getting better, but there is still work to be done...but I will say that I am watching far more than I ever did; with the exception of Stephanie and Jeremy. I absolutely can't stand them on the show. Jett, I thought I would dislike too, however, I like him far more than the other two.

Members Shawn
The fact of the matter is, Drake cannot act and he should thank GOD that someone gave him the change that so many other deserving actors didn't get. Deidre is electric...when Drake isn't onscreen. With him, she becomes a horny school girl who sighs and moans and says "gosh". Its disgusting, not like Marlena, and frankly, its unwatchable. I'm thrilled that the casting director from Y&R is at Days. I am thrilled Ed Scott is there. And I look forward to them cleaning house, getting rid of the no talent hacks, and bringing on people who are worthy. In a perfect world, I'd be able to say goodbye to Drake for good. Members MikeGoldy
For years, Drake has coasted on his looks and charisma which he used to have. Now, he is obviously aging and the charisma he used to have doesn't exist. So, we are left with an aging bad actor without any charimsa. He should be shown the door, which would give Deidre a big story
Members Shawn
I agree. I say have John be a casualty of the Brady Dimera Feud. He finally finds out his true identity moments before being wiped off the face of the Earth. Dee would rock the post death scenes in my opinion, and people will see what she is capable of sans Eyebrow.

Administrator Toups Posted August 17, 2007 Administrator Share Posted August 17, 2007 Whether Drake can act or not, it would be complete suicide for DAYS to fire him. Firing one of your biggest stars while the show is struggling just doesn't make any sense. The big four (J/M, B/H) need to be in front burner storylines if DAYS wants a chance to survive past 2009. Drake has always been there for DAYS and I'm pretty sure he'll take a paycut if they ask him too. Same goes for Deidre. You do whatever it takes to keep the big four.
