I kind of enjoyed today's episode - it was different and fun. The people on today were not acting like their usual annoying selves, so maybe that's why I liked it - and best of all no Rafe or Gus or Harley!!

No seriously??? This is the EMMY AWARD WINNING GUIDING LIGHT!!?? Filmed in a bathroom!! For God's sake!!!! What did Reva leave some of her cancer-crack lying around and everyone smoked it!!

And this is from the EMMY AWARD WINNING WRITING TEAM, this is the dumbest SH!T I have ever seen in my entire life...really...the only good part was seeing Cyrus shirtless.

Someone should remind Miss Lizzie that she is a Spaulding heiress, you don't screw on public bathroom floors! They think this crap is entertainment, they think this crap is what we want to see, well not this fan! Please tell me that Robert Newman and Kim Zimmer (who at this point should be considered Guiding Light royality, I do consider them that) was not included in this episode.

And I know some peopel will say, "You just don't like anything, blah, blah, blah" hardly!!! I have sat through that dumbass 15,000 episode which was a waste, boring! You only get one and they wasted it!! I sat through Harley "THE GUIDING LIGHT" Cooper superhero!! ENOUGH with you "stand alone episodes" do these writers and Wheeler and CBS really think that an Emmy gives them full control and think they can do whatever they want.

I didn't see the first half of this episode, but I seen the last and it is a joke! This is why daytime is treated like a red-headed stepchild, because they act like it!!!

I'm sick!!

I just don't get it. If they just wanted to "shake things up", why didn't they pull out the BlackOut episodes from the early '90's and use that as a template?

LOL...I wouldn't be surprised if GL nom's this for writing or best show. "Special" eppys seem to be a hit with blue-ribbon panels. I guess it makes them forget they're watching a soap opera. I forgot I was while watching this. It was like watching a bad cult film, where you don't know if you're supposed to be "in" on the "jokes" or not.

And Remy can't act hot, even when he doesn't know who he is. LOL...ick. A nasty-assed bathroom floor? I guess the stall was too classy?

It didn't turn out bad as I thought....but don't do a episode written this way again Guidng Light. Heed my words GL, don't ever do it again...some fans are still weary of clones, psychics, and time travel. None of that amnesia gas stuff please. What next a weather machine? (The idea of this whole gas thing made me think back to GH in the 80s.)

The direction of today's episode was way better than the one we saw during the Holiday Inn episode...you know when Reva kdinapped Lizzie...now that awful all around! Anyways I wouldn't mind if the show went on location alot more, just direct it better and I'm a happy camper. Anything to not to see that Main Street set or the hall(s) of the Beacon again.

It was fun seeing everyone so out of character, but damn, the whole gas thing was lame.

I got pleasure out of seieng Alan treat Beth like his daughter instead of the love of his life. DK should know damn well that is how it's supposed to be.

Remy and Lizzie are hot,, but I hate the writing for Remy. He gets pissed off way too many times, way too easily. Reminds me of Rafe and Jonathan.

Having Coop do the voice over was a nice touch, gave a nice feel to the episode.

Yeah I am suprised my some negative stuff over todays show. This eppy reminded me of Spotless Mind with Carey and Winslet. The only difference was the gas made them have case of amnesia (might of been silly) but the scenes with Ava/Cyrus were hysterical (Ava did not annoy me today) and Murray Bartlett is hot, hot, hot! More shirtless scenes please!

I loved Coop and Beth on swing LOL and Alan thinking she was his daughter.

The voice over was perfection.

I really loved todays show and the past few Wednesday shows have been horrible IMO.

Natalia is growing on me, but they need to find someone for her other than Remy. I vote for Gus. I'm ready to give GusH a break.

Agreed, I think Blake became a woman who learned from her mistakes and grew up. I too wanted them to be the core couple after the Tori thing, as a matter of fact, around Wheeler after Simon left I wanted them to move into the Bauer house..( I would have Blake say that this is the closet thing she knew as a home )SORAS the kids, and bring Sam back..Dinah would have a very contentious relationship with her, as she would be jealous of Ross and Sam's relationship, and Blake and Dinah would have that tension (ya, know cause she killed his brother) it would be a core family that had some fissures leading to good drama. But now, Wheeler and company though the Coopers should be the core.

BTG: December 2025 Discussion Thread

Agree that great minds can think alike :)
In terms of Derek, I see the show doing one of two things based on the most recent episodes that featured him.
1) They do the gradual fade-out of the character until he stops appearing and is occasionally mentioned by Jacob (i.e. still living and existing in town, just not being seen). We saw some evidence with him having a group of co workers he's friends with, plus a female co worker interested in him... so possibly we see him regain his walking and go back to his life with the Fire crew and eventually we stop seeing them on air.
2) His mentioning to Jacob that he hopes to win Ashley back signals that perhaps the dark side we saw glimpses of has been hidden and will rear itself if she appears to be moving on with a new guy.
In terms of Ashley, the show seems committed to keeping her character on the show especially since she was shown in the Thanksgiving episode having a quiet day with Jan and Mona as they discuss Black Friday shopping, food, and other day to day matters... so I think delving into her backstory in terms of who her father is would be a good place for the show to go while keeping her as a good friend to Naomi, Shanice, and a good nurse during medical stories.
Perhaps one of the children of the handsome new doctor could be her love interest down the line.

Re: 1978. I'm glad the unedited version of the episode complete with commercials is available. The one that has been posted several years ago had several segments missing. I like Barbara's long hair here. Dr. Steven Farrell didn't last very long I take it since she is re-connecting with Tom (Tom Tammi) by 1979. The actor playing Steven (Phil Peters) was the real-life husband of Lenore Kasdorf (Rita GL).

Oh, how I wish we'd gotten to see Ross deal with his teenage sons. I loved his relationships with Phillip and Sam, but he really deserved to be seen with his own kids (other than the horror that became Dinah). The boys simply disappeared off canvas after either the Nursery Stalker or the affair with Tori.

What I liked about Bloss is that I liked how they grew to be the stable couple- the closest to an Ed and Mo in their prime. Especially after the Tori story when their extra-marital exploits were in the past. I wanted them to SORAS the three kids, along with Dinah and with Phillip's family as Ross's extended family would really be solid core family material.
With that said, I was rooting against Bloss in 1999 as I really liked the Ross/India pairing-- but that just turned out to be a waste of MKA.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's

The return of sitcoms' popularity in the mid-'80s was a real thing, but the crash of the wealth-based nighttime soap genre was resonate and self-induced.

There was an effectively grim finality to the mood of the cliffhangers in the Spring of 1985: Bobby's death, the Moldavian massacre, the return of Val's babies... and they felt as if they could have ended right there (and perhaps they should have, although I would have sorely missed S10 of Dallas, S6 of FC, and Season 9 of Dynasty , and the next five years of KNOTS as they singularly maintained quality).

But, wow, these shows just fell apart post-Spring 1985. They stopped being character dramas after a while, and just started trying to "impress" viewers in some superficial way and to "fake it" somehow.

What a painful, unnecessary slide it was. But once these shows seemed to lose their identities, their sense of self, their momentum into the dung heap couldn't be slowed.
