ALL: Who was the best and worst executive producer of your show?

AMC

Bes: FMB, from what I can tell she saved the show in front and behind the camera. AMC was in rough shape when she came in both creatively and in terms of morale on the show. Never understanded why she was fired.

Worst: I always said Jean Daddario Burke but its definitely Julie Hanan Carruthers now. The woman as far as I am concerned is a visionless idiot who just falls in to line with Frons. But really, AMC has not had a strong EP since Behr. Francesca James I wouldn't call stellar either. A step above her successors I guess....

I kind of resent her a little bit because I am sure she had something to do with Lorraine Broderick being pushed aside to bring Megan McTavish back it. It was the worst decision creatively that the show had made in YEARS, and thus began the downward spiral to where we sit today. The day Lorraine was fired is the day that the real AMC began dying and never really has come back from that.

^I think Broderick's firing had more to do with higher-ups at ABC, who weren't happy when AMC started to slip ratings-wise during Broderick's last year. Though, I don't think Broderick and James had a very good working relationship. With FMB then at ATWT, Broderick next came to head-write that show, which probably meant they had a very good working relationship.

I appreciated James' attempts. Even Burke... they at least TRIED.

Cowudders makes NONE! She's just been handed this job to her by Frons after ABC canceled Port Charles, so she's just riding the wave, not making any of her own. I mean, shit. Terri Ivens was her supposed "friend" as was Ian Buchanan and is Thorsten Kaye... and you see how shabbily she allowed McTavish to write for their characters. Simone was non existant, Greg Madden changed AMC's history and subsequently died in the most inhumane way possible and his torture/murderer isn't even punished and Zach was virtually assassinated the minute he stepped on the scene at the altar of Ryan the Christ.

I wouldn't want that woman as a friend. If I were a daytime actor and had to pick between JHC and JFP as friends, gimmie Phelpsie any damn day. At least she goes to bat for her precious FOJ's. I mean, dear GAWD! She's finding ways upon ways to give John Bolger screentime on GH!

AMC

Best: Felicia Minei Behr - creatively AMC's most inspired...great working relationship with everyone, her firing still puzzles me

Worst: Julie Hannan Carruthers - she doesn't give a damn about AMC and it shows, Frons just gave her this job and she's a joke

GH

Best: Gloria Monty - the woman who saved GH, hired talented actors and stressed continuity and a singular vision, just brill

Worst: Jill Farren Phelps - she's become Frons' bitch...that must really piss her off, she's shafted Jackie Z, Leslie C and Stuart D...pathetic

B&B

Best: Brad Bell - God love him, he tries and he loves the actors and the show...he's just human I guess and makes mistakes

Worst: Brad Bell - God love him, he tries and he loves the actors and the show...he's just human I guess and makes mistakes

Y&R

Best: William J Bell/Ed Scott - they worked as a team perfectly and helmed the most successful soap in history

Worst : Lynn Marie Latham - SONY's bitch, has taken a plot driven wrecking ball to the majestic storylines of the show, cheapened the show, terrible all around, I hate her guts

DAYS

Best: Betty Corday - she created the show, she cared about the vets, she cared about survival

Worst: Ken Corday - he tries hard...but damn is he an ego driven moron sometimes!

GL

Best: Jill Farren Phelps/Ellen Wheeler - although both certainly have their issues I have to say that they at least seemed to give a damn about the show.

Worst: John Conboy - great production values but not much else, let Joan Collins out of her contract i favor of Marj Dusay...unforgivable.

Joan Collins jumped ship because the interim EP (MADD) wouldn't let her do book tour stuff. That was before John Conboy even arrived on the set. Marj Dusay appeared in John Conboy's first credited episode as executive producer.

    • Yes, just so.  Thanks for the info. I could tell this was going to be a big thing with ShawnD in this danger! Especially love that the little guy is Andrew!
    • I think the shocker would be if he's NOT playing Dumas. That's where Josh Griffith plays most of his stories. Now they have Cole "self-isolating" because they don't want to put up that hospital set. Will Cole cough himself to death at the GCAC? What a "storyline." I can't believe how much JG is playing with us regarding Nick and Sharon. The teasing has become pathetic, especially for Shick fans who want them back together. My guess is that he'll reveal his real name once he is exposed.
    • Maybe we'll meet Leslie's mama who'll be a former Articulette and they'll build the rival family from there that a lot of people seem to think is missing. It'd make sense considering Anita's been hammering on about going on tour and reviving her music career.
    • hahaha at the Brennan shade.   But even I saw this and have to agree. What's really sad is that some of the person on that list could easily have a love interest that is on the canvas. They just need to be written for.
    • The thought has crossed my mind. Tricia Mann-Grant did say in her EW interview w/ MVJ and DD, that Leslie wants to be a Dupree just as bad as she wants Eva to be. I believe now that's the direction they are going in, that maybe she is just obsessed with the family. I could be wrong though.
    • True. But I have always had mixed feelings about that twist. Since I love the Damian storyline which already had twists and turns. Also I could not wait for a new powerful AND BLACK businessman to mix it up at some point with Victor. It just seem like another twist that was added on for twist sake. And also for a character (whether I love him or not) to hijack a new and refreshing storyline so they can be propped.    Once good thing that I can say about JG is that he loves to keep the Abbotts in rotation. So I could see that happening with Diane. I don't think she has mentioned her backstory, either. I would be intrigued.
    • That's how I feel. Beats could have been played for the past couple months wherein Dante and Gio interacted and had a difference of opinion -- or something. I don't know. I do know that this crushing rant that blames everything on Gio is absurd. -- Reading over all the comments here about characters and couples, it's kind of amazing that we have any show left considering the number of times actors and writers and execs were given influence to make major character and story decisions. Too many cooks in the kitchen.
    • Lol. But Jeffrey was weak to mama. Leslie can go dead because anger is a great motivator via Martin defending HIS mama and just not taking ish altogether. This ain't how it should be. They need not run the show like this. It's too noticeable. The way Eva said mama reminded me of Penny from Good Times. Instead of physical abuse it's mental abuse.
    • Oh, I see! You posted this on the general retro soap thread because of the voiceover.
    • Yeah, I agree. It's part of the reason I have shade picked on Martin's Secret being so on the backburner that it was about to fall off of it. With Dani/Bill/Hayley being the main tale to start us off and backburned and the SilkPress storyline being well paced, but not set to explode until May, Martin's Secret was the other main storyline that could have been developed. And after giving it a nice slow burn to start off, the story upped and vanished in Month 2. That left the show having to rely on mostly B/C stories to stay afloat to various degrees of success.
