Ok, so today's show was actually pretty good and not boring at all. I really liked the Craig/Lucinda/Alison/Paul/Emily/Meg stuff and we atleast finally got somewhere with the storyline, it was also nice seeing Paul and Emily in scenes together, I may have not been there biggest fan, but atleast they had some interaction. The Brad/Katie/Jack/Crazy Woman stuff was also pretty good today, I enjoyed the little house cleaning thing they had going on today. Previews also look good for Tuesday's show.

Necessary Preface: It is OKAY if you did not like the episode. I am NOT trying to force you to enjoy the show. I do understand that people will NOT agree with me and that is FINE by me.

Okay now that thats out of the way onward to my thoughts. I must say I really enjoyed todays episode. Katie and Brad were really cute. Brad's confession at the end definitely made me say, "AWWWWW!" He really cares about Katie and I love it. Jack's little pissy mood at the end was classic and hysterical. Especially after the funny convo between him and Brad.

Paul and Emily were a hot mess as usual. Such a disaster couple. I can't blame Paul for thinking Emily is just jealous and paranoid since he doesn't know the whole truth. Plus given Emily's over the top reactions to all his decisions in the last few years I'd be afraid to tell her about the plan against Craig as well. On the other hand Emily was just as strong and reasonable in those scenes as well. She doesn't trust Paul and who can blame her. They had some nice scenes but they just reminded me of how much I enjoy Paul and Meg together as opposed to Paul and Emily.

Craig and Meg were cool today. Loved their scenes. Is Meg changing the plan!? This girl is truly stupid if shes screwing up Paul's plan. And was it just me or did the camera focus in on her chest? I thought I saw a wire there...

Overall a very strong episode and I look forward to tomorrow. And I truly do look forward to reading other peoples comments and discussing what they liked or didn't like.

I loved the interaction today in the Craig gaslighting storyline. Scott Bryce has eased in to the role of Craig seamlessly. I loved everybody involved.This is a good storyline.

My opinion, the Jack/Katie/Brad stuff was ehhhh. It was not needed and felt so out of place in an otherwise good show. What do I know?That is just my opinion.

LOL...the Brad/Katie/winners stuff was unwatchable! OMG...y'know, if you advertise something as "watch Brad and Katie clean your home..." don't you think they'd actually make it a challenge? Or show them actually cleaning? *rolleyes* Witty banter as Brad plays video games. OH, the brillance.....

However, it did put a smile on my face to see how little time it took Ms.HotPantsPeretti to get past her "disappointment" that Jack was "rude". Two minutes and some ass-kissing later, she's ready to mack up on Brad.

The Craig et. al. stuff was pretty good. I like that Craig isn't just totally buying this set up, and finally Paul/Em and mention their child. (Emily should have quizzed Paul on if he remembered his daughter's name.)

And WHEN are TIIC going to learn how to tease tomorrow's show without giving away what actually happens? IDIOTS!!

I never watched DAYS when she was on.

I will have to pay closer attention to those scenes tomorrow!

I totally agree Scott is doing fantastic already, it is like he never even left the role, I was not watching back then, but you can just feel that he is just moving right in an owning Craig again. I also agree that this storyline is very good, it is so great seeing so much of Lucinda.

Of course, the deliberate vagueness in truth telling on both of Paul/Emily parts was simply to get Dusty to be Ali's hero I think...but hey, if it gets his focus off Emily, I'll live with it.

I saw about the first 10 minutes of the show. Then went back to work. Didnt realize DVD was not recording it. So missed the rest of the show.

Great scenes with Craig today. I'm hoping Alison will flip on them and sell her secrets to Craig.

I'm so sick of Meg and her 15 years too soon midlife crisis. She needs to find a way to go back to nursing. And I'm just disgusted by her supposed superiority. Her and Paul's smugness towards Craig pisses me off. I hope he catches a clue ASAP!

Lucinda has been annoying me the past few days. I can't put my finger on it... she just... bugs.

I liked that the contest winner was woven into the actual show instead of showing a segment during commercial. I wasn't AS bad as I expected it to be.

Great scenes with Craig today. I'm hoping Alison will flip on them and sell her secrets to Craig.

You know, I actually think they may have foreshadowed that last week in a scene between Paul, Lucinda and Ali - they were talking about if there was anything Craig could get on Ali, and Lucinda wondered if Ali could be trusted not to run to Craig, etc.

I remember watching and thinking that is what could happen.

Agreed, I think Blake became a woman who learned from her mistakes and grew up. I too wanted them to be the core couple after the Tori thing, as a matter of fact, around Wheeler after Simon left I wanted them to move into the Bauer house..( I would have Blake say that this is the closet thing she knew as a home )SORAS the kids, and bring Sam back..Dinah would have a very contentious relationship with her, as she would be jealous of Ross and Sam's relationship, and Blake and Dinah would have that tension (ya, know cause she killed his brother) it would be a core family that had some fissures leading to good drama. But now, Wheeler and company though the Coopers should be the core.

Agree that great minds can think alike :)
In terms of Derek, I see the show doing one of two things based on the most recent episodes that featured him.
1) They do the gradual fade-out of the character until he stops appearing and is occasionally mentioned by Jacob (i.e. still living and existing in town, just not being seen). We saw some evidence with him having a group of co workers he's friends with, plus a female co worker interested in him... so possibly we see him regain his walking and go back to his life with the Fire crew and eventually we stop seeing them on air.
2) His mentioning to Jacob that he hopes to win Ashley back signals that perhaps the dark side we saw glimpses of has been hidden and will rear itself if she appears to be moving on with a new guy.
In terms of Ashley, the show seems committed to keeping her character on the show especially since she was shown in the Thanksgiving episode having a quiet day with Jan and Mona as they discuss Black Friday shopping, food, and other day to day matters... so I think delving into her backstory in terms of who her father is would be a good place for the show to go while keeping her as a good friend to Naomi, Shanice, and a good nurse during medical stories.
Perhaps one of the children of the handsome new doctor could be her love interest down the line.

Re: 1978. I'm glad the unedited version of the episode complete with commercials is available. The one that has been posted several years ago had several segments missing. I like Barbara's long hair here. Dr. Steven Farrell didn't last very long I take it since she is re-connecting with Tom (Tom Tammi) by 1979. The actor playing Steven (Phil Peters) was the real-life husband of Lenore Kasdorf (Rita GL).

Oh, how I wish we'd gotten to see Ross deal with his teenage sons. I loved his relationships with Phillip and Sam, but he really deserved to be seen with his own kids (other than the horror that became Dinah). The boys simply disappeared off canvas after either the Nursery Stalker or the affair with Tori.

What I liked about Bloss is that I liked how they grew to be the stable couple- the closest to an Ed and Mo in their prime. Especially after the Tori story when their extra-marital exploits were in the past. I wanted them to SORAS the three kids, along with Dinah and with Phillip's family as Ross's extended family would really be solid core family material.
With that said, I was rooting against Bloss in 1999 as I really liked the Ross/India pairing-- but that just turned out to be a waste of MKA.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's

The return of sitcoms' popularity in the mid-'80s was a real thing, but the crash of the wealth-based nighttime soap genre was resonate and self-induced.

There was an effectively grim finality to the mood of the cliffhangers in the Spring of 1985: Bobby's death, the Moldavian massacre, the return of Val's babies... and they felt as if they could have ended right there (and perhaps they should have, although I would have sorely missed S10 of Dallas, S6 of FC, and Season 9 of Dynasty , and the next five years of KNOTS as they singularly maintained quality).

But, wow, these shows just fell apart post-Spring 1985. They stopped being character dramas after a while, and just started trying to "impress" viewers in some superficial way and to "fake it" somehow.

What a painful, unnecessary slide it was. But once these shows seemed to lose their identities, their sense of self, their momentum into the dung heap couldn't be slowed.
