Kendall has to prop Ryan and his storylines often (Ryan by himself, relationships that are unpopular, Rylee, are not that popular, Ryannie), there's no question. Ditto on JR, from good to evil - every move the character has made in the bulk of the past 4 years was for the sake of Babe propping - nobody has/had it worse. I don't really think it was necessary for Kendall/Zach to even be at this engagement party, it felt more like they were using them...as props ;). That said I rather Kendall being all nice and gushy with RyanAndAnnie propping, even if it goes a little too far, than the "territorial" propping.

I don't mind Annie/Kendall's friendship. I actualy really, really liked their scenes together earlier this week.

I thought the party was fine. I was smiling. I like (not love) Annie/Ryan. It was amusing, it borderline gave me a headache but I didn't hate it at all.

Hannah's comment to Del's yapping about his book - awesome, because seriously - who cares? lol

The Amanda/Janet scenes got to me.

I liked Adam telling Tad how it is with the kidnappings, yet Tad was still yapping.

There was really no need for Babe to be on today's episode except to show how "fantastic" she is - which they need to stop doing - we get it Babe=Love.

I still like Jamie and Amanda together, a little too much.

Acting critiquing, subjective. I think Lish has always had a lot of charisma, one of the most charismatic soap actresses I've seen in a long time (over the years she reminds me of Vanessa Marcil in that fact). Her acting is fine, and she has great moments (TG 2005 was just downright brilliant in my book). KC too, she's a soap actress (I'd consider AM a soap actress) but she can be just downright brilliant at it, she gets to me with her Janet stuff. BE, IMO is also a soap actress which I don't mean that in a deragatory way, I mean that they got the soap-delicious thing down very well (but their are ticks). SH hasn't impressed me. She's an absolutely fine actress but there's just absolutely nothing soft there in delivery so I'm not blown away or anything. I think she's great at playing a character that seems suspicious, lol. David Canary - he's my bag of chips on AMC. TK and MEK, they can be really on and their are periods where they're just regular.

Hannah's such a bitch. Love her...lol. I loved her line to Del about "telling that to someone who cares"

I gotta give credit where credit is due and Kendall is amazing today. Im seeing signs of the character I loved. I love the new writing for her. I liked that she could admit she was wrong, and apolgoized to Annie. I doubted her motives at first but I believe she is genuine and I like that she isnt written as so cold and bitchy now. I love her like this and Im starting to enjoy her again.

Jonathan is an ass. He needs to FOAD

I almost forgot Ava/Jonathan were on. I hate to admit it, but I "liked" the J/A scenes - I think it's because when Jonathan is the slightest bit angry Jeff plays Jonathan like that serial-killer, woman-beater that Jon use to be before they cut the bad out. The irony of bad-cut-out Jon acting like that amuses me. And well slut-"Lily" pushes the buttons.

I liked the shower scenes even though I still don't care about the couple the party revolved around. Kelli Giddish and Sydney Penney were hilarious in those bridemaids dresses and it's about time the characters on this show actually had fun. I even liked Ryan's open door speech. I just wish Cam would be paired with an actress he has chemistry with for a change.

Even though Kendall is propping another unpopular couple, it makes sense to me for the character to have grown up enough to let go of Ryan (especially after his violent behavior a few years back; I'm still hoping someday we'll get a headwriter who fully explores Ryan & Jonathan's violent tendencies) and accept his new fiancee. If only the actress had any chemistry with him. Where is Esta Terblanche when we need her back as a Gillian lookalike?

I loathe Jonathan. I was hoping Ava would have the security guard kick him out of the mall.

It's about time we saw Babe & Amanda's friendship instead of having Amanda just declare Babe her best friend like she did when Babe was "dead."

I loved everything revolving around Janet today. That flashback nearly had me in tears.

I agree with the poster who said Stacy is one of the strongest actresses on the show. I can't wait until she gets a meaty storyline to show us just how talented she is.

I loved the shower. The actors/characters were all having a real ball. It must have been a fun day at work when they taped this show. I really don't care that Kendall is singing Ryan and Annie's praises. It makes sense. She's happy with Zach, grown up and MATURED so so much, she has let go of Ryan. I liked it and wasn't annoyed by it at all.

Janet :) I loved her talking to Natalie, and having imaginary cake and the flashback. My goodness, tugs at my heart strings.

God Jonathan needs to STFU as does Tad. I loved Adam bringing up all Tad's baby stealing ways. God, what a friggin hypocrite. I support Adam 100%.

I am loving Hannah (Stacey) more and more. "Tell someone who cares" LOL.

Okay, my turn! YAY!

Anyway.

Lil Miss Hot Mess... always a horrible torture session for my ears. Her dialog is continually cheesy and the woman clearly thinks she's funnier than she is. Whenever she writes these goofy, lighthearted scenes, I tend to wince, almost embarrassed for the actors(do we even need to bring up Bugler's biggest offender? The New Year's Eve episode with Jack and Erica aboard the At Last?! ). And, yes, she tends to cram things down your throat. No subtlety. At all. (Another Bugler mess was when Erica had that extremely awkward corporate plug, along the lines of, "Nice performance, Jeff. But not quite good enough to win the Academy Award coming up this sunday night." I don't feel like searching transcripts right now, but that garbage was utterly dreadful)

Okay, that obligatory Hot Mess critique over and done, moving on to the show itself.

I'm glad Adam brought up all of the times Tad has obsconded with Chandler children. But, as usual, just like his son Doofus, Tad doesn't see anything wrong with that, and has zero remorse. The ends always justify his means. He made his lofty Hypocritical Martin decisions about who deserves to be a parent, and he stands by it. Fine. But don't turn around and act all sanctimonious when someone pours a bottle of the same medicine down your throat ThadeASS! Also, Tad's rambling on and on about Adam being vindictive and cruel and subhuman. I guess burying men alive to get information on a, hate to say it, LEGAL adoption and subsequently murdering them is, what? A warm caring hug?

Hmmm... what else? Oh, yeah. Jonathan and Ava. I'm bored. I know TPTB are hoping that this will give Jeff a second chance to work with Leven and also give Jonathan a more appropriate romance, but I'm not buying. Jonathan should've died in that cave. The character is such a misfit. And I can't get past him living in the home of the man he murdered and on that very same property. I'm not crazy about Ryannie. The two of them moved way too fast, and I don't even remember seeing them fall in love. It just... happened.

Don't get me wrong. Anything to keep Ryan away from my Zendall.

But I don't buy these two as a couple.

Now, for the Who's the Better Actor debate, I do have to say that the tops are David, MEK and Bobbie. They are the saving grace during this whole transitional period. I may not like Tad and Krystal, but I love their portrayers and they have been fabulous to watch -- no matter how much I disagree with their character's actions and/or just plain dislike them. I love Adam and David Canary. To me, in this storyline, he epitomizes the term, "I'm not bad... I'm just misunderstood." DC's playing the beats. In his alone time, you see Adam's conflict. You see his pain. No matter how much of a stone cold front he puts on in front of the others, you can tell he's not proud of himself.

Unlike Babe (the one who is supposedly misunderstood), who causes trouble and then plays all sweet and innocent when it bites her in the ass, Adam didn't cause this. He reacted to what was done to him. Generally, would I agree with kidnapping a newborn and handing it off to a mental patient? No. But am I going to be a hypocrite and make an allowance for this storyline involving Adam using this baby prop? Absolutely. Because that's all this baby is. A prop. It's being used to somehow water down Krystal and Tad's disgusting acts. With this baby creature involved, it makes it seem like Adam is this cold, cruel, heartless person taking his anger out on a poor, helpless, innocent baby -- NEVERMIND THE FACT THAT THIS ALL IS A RESULT OF HOW THIS POOR INNOCENT BABY WAS CONCEIVED! CONCEIVED IN DECEIT! And even if Adam were to direct his anger at Tad and Krystal, Adam would still be villified because "how could you let a poor innocent baby grow up without two parents that love her? Have you no heart, Adam?" So he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

And Krystal, at least you know who has your baby and that it's alive. Unlike how you let Bianca believe that not only was her baby Babe's baby, but also that her baby died from drowining in a river. So, sorry. Krystal's pain is still not as ripe as Bianca's. Krystal isn't going to bed every night the way Bianca said she did, imagining her newborn baby drowing, lungs filling up with water, gasping for air. I will never forget Bianca describing that, and that, to me, is why I think Babe and Krystal have YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS to go before they should be forgiven.

The Wedding Singer Ryan

So today we have the wedding shower for Sir Ryanobitch and Annie Fannie Banany and well it already stinks with these two thinking they are some Romeo and Juliet but then again that would work out since R and J did in fact die in the end although once Annie is away from Ryan she shines. But alas they need to just show Ryan being at his most pathetic point and start singing for his beloved bride. Hey maybe he can do karaoke of "Jailhouse Rock" and then it becomes a real life thing for St. Ryan to deal with and he is thrown into jail to be shagged by Bubba and have his skivvies all rummed up tightly and then he walks around like a chicken with an erection and well Bubba will have gotten his money's worth. Or better yet he can karaoke "All Night Long" and for all night long he decides to be plucking his eyebrows and trying to form an arch that looks like a walking vagina and is just downright gross. Oh I got the final song of the evening for the butt pirate Ryan to sing: "Loser" by Beck! Hey if the shoe fits then go with it...Ryan is a loser baby so why don't you kill him!

Great post! I agree with most, but not all. I just love reading your posts and opinions because you write so well, with a hint of funny sarcasm thrown in the mix. Reminds me of another soap blogger I used to read way back in the day...

The confusion party was ridiculous! The only good part was the Hannah and Josh looks, Zach peeping that, and Kendall peeping him.

I agree that Josh is becoming less "the Fetus" and more Josh. I have not seen him and Hannah getting it on, but that is what the Saturday marathon is all about.

I think Hannah is a wonderful addition to AMC, and if written correctly, the character will rock. I think she could possibly fit with just about any male on this show. I vote for Zach, and when he eventually goes back to his skeleton wife, Hannah can probably get with Tad. However, the business woman part of her comes first! LOVE LOVE LOVE HANNAH! The way she spoke to Del was hilarious. She just kept moving on. The woman has style, and Stacy is certainly pulling it off well! I will write the show and the magazines about her. She's a keeper. In fact, Hannah and whomever they pair her with is the attraction for me right now. That Erica and Adam of course!

BTW, where in the sam hell is Erica?

David was brilliant yesterday! God this guy just gets better and better!

Hannah ain't long for the show, both TK and Lish have said as much :D :D

Hannah's one note, all she does is wah wah about the son she never bothered to come and see(when she had plenty of chances to do so). So shut the [!@#$%^&*] up Hannah, damn whiner

I so wanted to bitchslap Tad. I'm sick of his hypocritical attitude all the time. He frickin kept two children from their parents DELIBERATELY. I hope he NEVER gets Jenny back

Right back atcha, babes!

Anyway, you're asking for clarification for the Lil' Miss Hot Mess paragraph? Well, that's my code name for one of AMC's current script writers, Courtney Bugler. She's allegedly McTavish's niece and has apparently inherited the same hack writing skills as her auntie Meggie. I despise her dialog with a passion, and like Always said, she's been gone for a few weeks (save for one other episode last week), so I had been relieved. But then, she comes back and writes the most cheesy, corny, unfunny "funny" scenes and the horror and pain all came screaming back to me. She wrote an episode on New Year's Eve that was just horrible in my condescending opinion, as well as having the unfortunate coincidence of having a ABC/Disney plug for the Oscars which was just out of place and awkward.

    • I think it wasn't just some of the poor casting choices that did the show in during its early days, but also the flat writing. Perhaps it was network interference? You'd think the Dobsons would have fought harder for their original vision, but after 6 months they dropped most of it.
    • Small Bar is a better set than the casino set.
    • The show loses me once the crime stories are in overload.  Heather and Jerry's marriage doesn't excite me. It would have been tawdry, but I think there should have been more lingering in Heather and/or Greg's feelings for the other. Or at least having someone suspect that their newfound sibling relationship was more complicated. But none of their parents were around. It just feels like they burned through too much story there too quickly.  Ellen and Dale's romance definitely seems intriguing. I don't think I knew they toyed with Jill having feelings for Dale, which would have meant that Jill was once again considering going after her mother's man. That's a very interesting dynamic. With David coming home from Hong Kong, and Tom afraid of David's involvement, I think they should have given Tom and Jill a try. Tom trying to use Jill to buy respectability and maintain power at the law firm.  Vicki and Tony's affair seems like fun with Vicki just seeming to see Tony as more of a sexual object and it leading to a health crisis. There was probably some space to explore that both Tony and Ginger's fathers were criminals (Tony's bio dad). I can't remember if Harry Wilson/Ike Harding died, fled town, or went to prison. If he was alive, I think he would have been worth revisiting.  What fascinated me about "Somerset" in early 1976 is its a show of remnants, pieces of the show's different eras, and they seem to sorta work, not as well as more well defined canvas would. I do think a streamlining was needed, but I am not sure if the criminal angle was the best route to choose.
    • Thanks for finding that about the Andrade home. I think it wasn't show in the opening weeks, but I may be wrong. With Danny in Los Angeles and Santana on her own, I don't think much space was given to Rosa and Reuben. It might have been nice to see them engaged in a healthy relationship threatened by Rosa keeping Santana's recently uncovered pregnancy from Reuben or even a visit from one of their other chidlren.  During the 1991 dinner, I think Rosa stated she would go home after work, which I took to me that she left the Capwell estate.

Bruce doubts Lynn’s assurance that her parents could care less, and is shocked when he discovers for himself that Lynn’s mother is as unfeeling as the girl has claimed. He informs a delighted Lynn that he plans to become her legal guardian.
    • I think that worked, but not as much by the late '80s, where I think they started getting things wrong with Mack.  I do respect Kevin Dobson, who did well when he was given the material he deserved (like the story with Jason).
    • 1976 Pt 2 The Organization has retained Michael Selby to represent their hit men. The district attorney recognizes his opponent as a noted courtroom specialist and knows he has his work cut out for him. Raising technicality after technicality, Selby quickly eliminates Lieutenant Price’s testimony implicating Bailey and Jerry’s testimony about Heather’s being assaulted. ‘Then, after cutting Julian’s testimony out as common knowledge, Selby goes straight to the heart of the  prosecution’s case. He demands that Carrie be produced now, sure that she’s been taken by the Organization. To Selby’s horror and shock, the doors open and Carrie walks in, and the courtroom explodes into pandemonium. As soon as the judge can restore order, Carrie is sworn in and begins her testimony. When court recesses for the day, Steve is confronted by another Organization man, Franklin, who questions him about why he took Carrie away. Steve tells him that Carrie was so frightened by the hit man lurking around that he saw his opportunity to be alone with her and “score.” Steve then adds that she wasn’t at all cooperative or friendly—she just cried all the  time—so he dumped her. He insists he has no idea how the police got her after that. Franklin accepts his story, and Steve learns that his next test is to testify to just what he’s told Franklin, omitting, of course, the reference to the hit man. Carrie insists upon a meeting with Steve and begs him not to go underground. He tells her he can’t back out now; you can’t go through life letting somebody  else do it all the time. Steve takes this opportunity to inform Lieutenant Price that he has to dump on Carrie on the witness stand for the Organization, but he can’t stop now. Julian, irate that Selby has blocked any reference to Nurse Fellowes’s disappearance and murder, as she was the only witness who could corroborate Carrie’s testimony, confronts Selby on this evasion. Selby | coldly tells Julian that there is no concrete connection between the nurses’ death and anything else that’s happened in this case and that to bring it into this trial would be a miscarriage of law. Julian, realizing  that it all falls on Carrie’s shoulders now, warns her that Selby will be out for blood; he has to make the court believe she’s lying.  The next day the district attorney introduces Carrie’s tape recorder. The tape, burned, as is the recorder, is barely audible. Selby calls for a mistrial, claiming that his clients’ reputations have been damaged enough. As the judge calls a recess: to consider the motion before the bench, the district attorney admits that he predicted everything Selby would do to this point, but had not guessed about this motion. If it works and there’s a new trial, Carrie is in far greater danger.  Steve now tells Castor that either he’s working for  the Organization as of now or he’s going to look elsewhere for a job. Castor offers the rainy weather as an excuse to wait before contacting “him,” because “the iron in him’Il be driving him crazy.” Realizing that this is a lead, Steve starts to write it down. When he is nearly caught, he warns himself that from now on  everything he learns will have to be kept in his head.  As soon as possible, he passes the “iron” clue along to Julian. The district attorney gains a respite when the judge  turns down the mistrial motion, but the tape has been disallowed also, ruled inadmissible. So it’s Selby’s turn to cross-examine Carrie. When he forces her to admit that she never actually saw the hit man, Selby turns to the jury and informs them that this proves she’s been lying. He then suggests this has all been a plot to boost the circulation of the newspaper she works for. Selby then goes to work on Carrie’s personal morals. Since she’s admitted that she and Steve spent three days in the apartment, alone together, he asks questions and makes insinuations designed to make the jury believe this was actually a sleazy affair. To Carrie’s horror, he then calls the landlady, Mrs. Wilson who testifies that that Steve and Carrie, registered as Mr. and Mrs. Clark, spent the three days in question drinking and partying with loud music and assorted other sounds coming from their rooms until late each night. Carrie rises to her feet and screams at Mrs. Wilson, ““You’re lying!” Steve is served with a subpena.  Joe Castor visits “the man”: Fred Harrington! Castor gives Harrington his report on Steve. He thinks Steve, with his computerlike mind, could be invaluable in helping the Organization work out money-exchange problems. Harrington tells Castor he wants the trial over as soon as possible, no matter how it goes. Those men are expendable; he has a bigger problem: Julian.
    • Given the weird fantasies/out of town barn trips she does for Reva/Kyle, I can't see it either. (Not to mention Kyle's obsessive talking to paintings, or Billy's nightmares.)
