Days: A Plea for Balance

The good news is, Corday's recent interview in SOD makes it clear that Bo & Hope are finally coming back on canvas and John is FINALLY going to wake up. J&M and B&H will be back on the front burner. The bad news is, the interview also makes it clear that Corday thinks of the show in terms of either/or. It's a zero-sum game for him. We can have S&K or we can have B&H/J&M. What possible sense does that make? B&H/J&M didn't need to be backburnered all these months that S&K finally had a storyline, and S&K don't need to disappear from screen so that Bo & Hope/ John & Marlena can return. They're not matter and anti-matter.

We don't need a show where we get ONLY Bo & Hope or ONLY J&M or ONLY S&K. We need a show with BALANCE. If Corday wants to save Days of our Lives, he has to stop excluding fanbases and start creating a show where the major couples/characters are integrated into a balanced canvas, where couples have their own storylines that still intersect with others enough to keep things interesting.

  • Peter, Stephen and Drake have phenomenal chemistry together. USE IT.

  • Peter, Kristian, Stephen and Mary Beth have incredible chemistry no matter how you pair any of them off. USE IT.

  • Bo, Hope, John, Marlena, Steve and Kayla have a rich and intricate history that intersects at some pretty fascinating places. USE IT.

  • At one point in the show's history, Marlena, Roman, Hope and Steve were all held captive by Stefano at the same time -- for two years. Hope and Steve were held captive for another three years at the same time. USE THAT.
There's no reason that Corday and the writers can't find ways to give solidy storylines to Bo & Hope, John & Marlena, Steve & Kayla, Lumi and Chick. They don't all have to be frontburner at the same time but they don't have to disappear from the screen either.

If you agree, please post your message(s) to Corday and/or Sheffer here. After a week or so, I'll print them out and mail them in.

And please consider adding the one of these "Balance" banners to your sig line.

GBB, you should be the EP at Days, because that is so where Corday's brain needs to be. If he thinks that Steve and Kayla can't add something to this show, they're sadly mistaken. Steve's friendships with Bo and John and Hope, Kayla is a DOCTOR now, that DiMera history. This all could have fallen into place wonderfully and explosively, and Corday is the reason that it hasn't.

Count me in. I so want to see the balance back. Steve and Kayla need to be working with Bo and Hope and John and Marlena to get to the real truth. I want to see more interaction with Lumi involved with more of their families - they have been too isolated for too long. Get with the program Corday!

Hopefully, Corday can come up with some cash because Hogie needs the opportunity to give the audience the stories (with the vets) we have longed to see.

Corday allowed Hogie to make promises he knew Hogie could not keep. Hogie has nothing to work with, and I personally don't watch because I don't care to see the people currently eating up the airtime. It's all about the money!

If the show had the balance, the ratings would go up. Bring us what we want, simple as that. It doesn't matter if our favorite couples are together or not, at least they are on our screen. (Comas don't count)

I'm using it here, sony and NBC board. I hope people will use them all over.

I also have an idea for a "Balance" campaign that we could all join in on, if anyone's interested...

    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?

    • Now this strikes me as funny. I have it up on my acct. The thing is I only have S2. Didn't want either 1 or 3.  Perhaps I should just list all of these that I have up.  Parodies: Dirty Sexy Money, Filthy Rich Incomplete: The Monroes, All That Glitters, Falcon Crest (have all just not all up), Once & Again S2 only Complete: Models Inc, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, Paper Dolls, Flamingo Road
    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.

Newsom is a craven opportunist, but his comments today were exactly how better people need to handle Trump.
