Not a bad show. A little show but enjoyable.

First off, I LOVE GABBY!!!

As I have said, when Joy Bisco first started on PC I didn't care for her but she grew on me. I LOVE her in this character. She has a daddy's girl type feel but also a little rebel in her. Definitely more likeable then any of the new faces so far except Nick. Duck has short-term written all over him. He won't last and he annoyed me. The actor was fine but his look and the writing for him were not very becoming for me. I did like the Belle/Shawn scenes today because we did get a week break from them. The White twins are great. The way they cry at the right time and say things at the right time. I felt their pain and Martha and Brandon did a good job showing how horrified Belle and Shawn were. Liked it.

I also want to thank Days for the great Kate/Philip scenes today. Those scenes were needed. I needed Philip to interact with the other side of his family. I also needed to hear him talk about his motivation for his actions. His trying to be like Victor makes sense. Just really liked these scenes. LMAO to Kate doing a reading for the wedding and even coming to church for anything other then a wedding or funeral  . I was a little confused about Philip calling him Victor but maybe he was mad or something. I hope we get to see the dinner or more scenes with Philip, Lucas, and Billie. I like family scenes and it helps mold Philip a bit as far as he is in his recent incarnation. JKJ and LK have great mother/son chemistry and they were good today. I actually saw some sensitivity in Philip and that helps. It's hope we get to see some more family scenes in general and I think we will.

Chelsea/Nick/Abby was filler but well-acted. I like how Nick showed how much he cared by trying to help her. Nice scenes. I like Chelsea laying into Bo and props to Days for not having Bo all out blame Chelsea. He is questioning her but not blaming her yet even though he thinks it could be her. I like that better. This is being handled well IMO. Billie/Bo/Hope was good. I like these three together. i like how Hope let Billie have it at first and was so tough on her and Bo and then she cooled down and helped Billie and offered to help Chelsea along with Bo. I like that Bo and Hope ae trying to think this through and not instantly blaming Chelsea. Hope/Billie was great when she convinced her to empty the bottle and that they would help each other with bad habits. Good writing and acting there.

Solid show. Tomarrow and Friday look more dramatic and seem to have more action.

I agree. Although I don't love Gabby, I am at least interested in her and there's potential for me to love her someday. Some have said she's a repeat of Willow, but I don't see that. Maybe there's spoilers that invite the comparison, but if so I don't know about them so right now she's an open book. She did come across very warm and friendly and was very good with Claire. Those twins are awesome!

After rewatching the Kate/Philip scenes last night, I like them even more than I originally did. It was great to see another side of Kate and it went a long way in explaining Philip's actions. Having a father like Victor would be very intimidating, and in JKJ's previous tenure Philip had a tendency to be weak so I think we are now seeing him over-correcting.

    • The actor who plays Martin has been teasing that nobody has guessed Martin's secret. I love that for things like that and the June story we have no idea. I feel like if we didn't have the day ahead feeds Anita's reveal would've been shocking as well. I love that they aren't going the obvious route with these stories.
    • I tried following the news in Los Angeles at https://laist.com (independent public radio and news) They had up-to-the minute accurate info during the wildfires in January. There's no video, no impact to my mind as to what's happening. Trying other outlets, to get the truth, but it's hard.
    • That's a bit murky since that happened during a writers' strike. Assuming Kristen Marie had a 2-year contract she left about when her contract would have expired and Sharlene and Josie showed up right before that. Lemay was officially credited as HW from September 1988 but it seems very probable that his anticipated tenure influenced events that happened during the strike which started in April.
    • I've seen so many posters over the years who are bright, creative, well-versed in soap history, and who care deeply about the integrity of the genre. I'd put the shows' chances in their hands a lot faster than I would allow any of the "usual suspects" to take control of the dramas they've already helped decimate. When I returned to university in the 1980s, I created a bible for a new soap and presented it in my screenwriting class. It was in reaction to how badly I saw the network shows being butchered at the time. The creative process was thrilling; a total joy, and I still smile when I remember the positive feedback I received from the professor and my fellow students. I was used to seeing written commentary from professors on my work. This one wrote me a long, complimentary note on the final page of the bible, but also graded it 97%, A+. I was beaming ear to ear for days!

    • Thanks. I do wonder if Rose was meant to be more given the caliber of actress they hired. I remembered Sara and Peggy staying longer as they were still on when Soapnet started their repeats. I wonder if that was part of the reason they brought Jake's brother in.
    • Speculation about Missy Reeves' potential evolution on basic civil rights doesn’t change my opinion of her. My view is shaped entirely by her public social media presence—which I find unpalatable—and I have no interest in learning more beyond that. I simply liked Jennifer’s hair and dress. That’s as far as my admiration goes.

    • Cheryl was gone before Lemay came back but I agree with your thinking that he would rather a character from a family he introduced to the show than a family he did not originate.  I remember reading somewhere in the early 90's probably after DS left as writer, their was an either a writer or a producer who made a comment that their intent was bring the McKinnon family back to AW.  Would have made sense for the newer viewers from the 80's.  Much like Lemay's attempt to bring the Frames back from his writing in the 70's in his 1988 return
    • DePriest left in January 1988. According to the AWHP, Rose last appeared nearly a year before in February 1987 while both Sara and Peggy appeared as late as October 1987.
    • Annie was not brought in as an antagonist for Reva. Reva wasn’t even on the canvas when Annie first appeared in late 1994.
    • The speculation……….very entertaining.
