AW On SoapNet

Thanks Greg.

I'm actually pondering working on an AW - Back to Bay City blog, sort of like you are doing with Santa Barbara, except picking up where AW ended back in 1999 ... I have a ton of ideas.

AW is almost surpassing DAYS as my favorite soap.

I would LOVE an AW blog. The only reason I haven't participated in this thread is that I don't have Soapnet.

I am in the minority here, but I LOVED Jensen Buchanan. Please K Man, write an AW blog. We need one. I can think of so many people who would love one.

Like with RTSB, all things Walker (except Marcy) have been eliminated. I know in my blog, I just decided not to have certain things occur, I stated it right up front (like Sonny and Emily). Just write what you want...I can't wait!

Sounds good. I'll do that later.

I've got a lot of ideas for returns, too, although not all will happen at once...

- Sam

- Olivia (possibly)

- Russ

- Liz

- John

- Sharlene

- Frankie

- Nancy

- Iris

- Evan

- Cecile

And the biggest return?

- Alice

I'd also get rid of Gary (or try to find a better recast) after a while ... I also have a shocking way to tie a past character to a present character ... I'll get rid of Pod Paulina (and make her feisty Paulina). I'll try to salvage Joe ...

Some random ideas ...

- Repairing Matt and Donna, but tossing Josie in there eventually

- Igniting a Russ/Rachel/Carl/Alice quadrangle (somewhat)

- Creating a triangle between Frankie, Cass and Lila

- Pairing Grant with Cecile and having Cindy be the meddler

- Writing off Nick and Remy

- Deaging Alli a bit and writing off Sean

- Have KC try to bust up Chris and Toni and then write KC off

- A huge story would involve Amanda versus Iris and it involves Cameron, and later Evan.

I have a ton of ideas ... lol

Any suggestions from anyone?

Jake was killed on ATWT. Please let him be alive. To me, he is not dead because he didn't die on AW. Let him live and let him be the Jake McKinnon of old. I would love to see a quadrangle with Vicky, him, Ryan and Paulina.

What about Lorna? Will she be around?

And Felicia? Will she have a story? I would love a May/December romance, but Donna and Matt were so hot.

Oh, I'm picking it up from June 25th, 1999 ... I may even re-write the last week, lol. I don't know though. Jake and Vicky will both be alive.

I do have a story planned for Felicia, involving her last love interest Sergei. I never liked him much so I'm going to be writing him out after a while. I'm also going to have Felicia discover TOPS is in shambles, so she re-purchases it and remodels it.

I might bring Lorna back, eventually, but she's not high on my list at the moment.

I've also got to figure out creative ways to bring Michael and Ryan back from the dead, although both won't come back right away.

And as for Marley and Tyrone, I'm not sure whether I want to write both out, or just Tyrone. I think Russell Simmons was going to leave AW anyway for what was it, Law & Order or NYPD Blue or something ...

Oh, and I'm also going to eventually bring Jamie back, maybe for just a visit. I'm not sure at the moment. Depends on how my initial storylines go.

    • Thanks again @Paul Raven  It shows you just what a unique and memorable performer Denise Alexander was that I can see her in these moments and hear her even though I've never watched any of the material. On paper it probably wasn't up to much, but I do wish I could see her playing it. Meanwhile, the Diana material continues to seem like one plate of ass after another...I was thinking she had finally been able to move on with the therapy breakthrough, but then we're right back with her believing Peter and Leslie are having an affair. I don't know how much further off the material is that made Valerie Starrett leave, but I can't blame her.  I see less and less of Jessie anywhere in this - is this when Emily's health troubles were starting to phase her out of story? Going a few summaries back, writing out Lee, Caroline, her son and his wife seems so rushed. It's a shame Marland, or whoever, killed off all of them (aside from Lee), as they might have given Lee some story down the line. Or maybe the daughter-in-law survived too - I can't remember.
    • Thanks!  I compiled the list and posted it for the 59th anniversary in November, but just made the updates now for the couple of new cast members we've had since then! Didn't realize until I did the update that Peyton is the first-ever contract actor born in Nevada, so that's another state off the 0 list!
    • What I love about this story is that I can empathize with both Lulu's point of view AND Lois's point of view. I can understand why Lulu thinks it's important for the truth to come out and why she feels a moral obligation to let Dante know he has a son. But these good intentions have gotten all mixed up with her hatred for BLQ, and so she's going about it like a self-righteous bully who hasn't thought through all the consequences of this reveal. And I can understand Lois's thought process keeping this secret. She couldn't bear to give her grandson away to strangers, and so she arranged an adoption that kept him in the family. From her perspective, it's worked out beautifully because as Gio grew up as a "Palmieri cousin", he got to know his father Dante, his mother Brook Lynn, and his grandfather Sonny. She just had the hubris to believe that she could play God and keep the secret forever.  Maybe it's just getting to see Cynthia Watros and Laura Wright in full-on catfight mode a few days ago, but the show is starting to remind me of Guiding Light in its heyday, where most of the drama comes from the interactions of long-running characters who are likeable in some ways but have enough fatal flaws that they create their own problems. That's a sharp contrast for the way GH has generally been written since the JFP era, where most of the drama comes from external threats: supervillians, Sweeps month disasters, the mob shootout of the week.
    • Wow, @JAS0N47, that list of states was impressive! And I never knew that James Read hailed from near me! (I was born and raised in a nearby city, about 15 minutes away!) (Liked him since he played Murphy Michaels on Remington Steele when I was a kid. As an older kid, I also loved him on North and South!)
    • Oh, I remember this vividly! So trippy to see Mike Brady as a devil-worshiping judge. LOL! (With the mustache and curly hair in some pics, Reed seemed to have a surface resemblance to early-Jeopardy Alex Trebek!)
    • This makes Karen, now this & a guy on Facebook named Brent Costel. Sony is really deleting so many files.
    • Tracy is going to be excited but only if she is no longer under arrest. Where is Marty when he is needed?! But, in case he is truly out of pocket, then where the dickens is Scott Baldwin? Scotty, Tracy needs you. And you know how she is.
    • I’m so excited to see Tracy’s reaction when she finds out Gio is the great grandson she was wanting Jason to find.
    • I think Lulu has had a point. Gio is Rocco's half-brother. Rocco is Lulu's son. And, she is still in love with Dante. She tried to get Brook Lynn to be forthcoming. Then she gave Lois the same chance. It was an accident that the two women were screaming at each other enough so that Gio heard every single stinking word they said.
