Cell Phone Woes

We had a huge snowstorm in Maine today that turned into rain and hail. On my way home from work, my cell phone got drenched, even though it was in my coat pocket. Now, it won't work at all.

Has anyone ever had a water logged phone before? Is there anything I can do, or will I have to buy another one? I keep praying that it will "dry out," but I'm thinking that is a long shot. LOL.

I've never had my cell get drenched, but my cordless phone at home has been dropped in the pool, dish water, bathtub, many times and it always works after drying out lol

Try laying it near your heater for a few hours, or using a hairdryer on low

I've dropped my phone in a tub full of water before.

Just like everyone said, put it next to a heater and leave it there for a day or so to completely dry out. Also, remove the battery and put it aside so that it an properly dry out.

My screen was messed up for a while, but the phone itself worked fine after a day or so.

Thats exactly what I did. I was being drunk and stupid and thats what I get. My friend that was with me used to work at radio Shack. Thank God she was there, she helped save my phone. It took about 3 days for my phone to start functioning properly but its all good now.

I dropped mine in a toilet one time (Don't ask).

I took it apart and left it on my dashboard in my truck to where the back of the phone was facing towards the sun. I did that to the battery too. Then, after about two hours, I slapped it against my leg until finally, the water quit flying out everywhere. Then I put on my dah again for the rest of the day.

It worked fine for about 6 months, but then it wouldn't charge. So I'd have to put my battery in my mom's cell phone, let it charge, and then put the battery back in my phone.

Finally, I got a new phone in June, but about a month ago..out of pure anger...I smashed it against the side of the university library. Needless to say, the phone screen looked like asbtract art but still worked. So now, I just put my old toilet battery in my broken phone, let it charge, and then put it back in the phone.

 Crazy, I know. :P

Shane what service do you have?

If you have Cingular you can go to Wal*Mart and buy one of the prepaid phones, if your Simcard is still okay in the phone all you have to do is take out your simcard and put it in the prepaid phone, don't worry about anything else and your phone will work fine. A guy assoc. with AT&T told me that and it works, I have one!

Thank you all so much for your feedback!

I have no common sense, and I did just what somebody said not to do: I fried the battery! This was, of course, before I read that post!

How it pains me to know that if I'd simply let it dry out, I would still have a phone and not have to plop down money for a new one. LOL.

Serves me right. Thanks for the kind words, everybody :)

    • Melissa Ordway announced she was moved to recurring back in November but is still credited with the contract cast members.
    • I think of Evan as a smarmy bast*rd. Maybe you'll like that description. You certainly have him pegged correctly since he is just a soldier following "Admiral" Iris's marching orders.
    • So far the only interest I've seen from Evan to Amanda has been listening to Iris's orders to go and seduce her.  So far he hasn't been successful... but who knows. Amanda is unbearable at times. Entitled, spoiled... idiotic. Iris... so blatantly manipulating her and Amanda takes the bait. But I guess... when she gets in trouble... she'll have a chance to learn. That's what makes these shows so interesting.    Oh, no, don't worry. You haven't ruined a thing. Evan has not been on my radar that much... he was not one of the characters I was caring particularly... so nothing much has been changed for me. I don't think he has the stuff to ruin Rachel's life. He's just a pretty guy that can follow orders. Iris on the other hand... is dangerous.

P.S Maybe Evan will surprise me. Who knows.
    • The show has gone back to 10/10 entertainment! I'm glad that I was right in feeling that what were experiencing were growing pains. I'm sure they are not over yet, but I'll know that we always comeback to quality drama. I think it's going to be a hell of ride (in a good way) from this moment on. BTG has that magic that not a lot of shows have. I'll update more... when I'm done catching up.
    • So very glad to hear this. Yesterday I suddenly thought; OMG, what about spoilers, have I just  ruined things for Maxim in getting carried away with interest in Evan, who was so well-written & well-acted. BTW, your fan review of this episode was a sight for eyes that had not seen one of these for a little bit too long, LOL!!!  Mitch is also fascinating to me but in his case it's because he was all in with Janice & her nefarious plan & then he did this turnabout we've mentioned & he basically got off scot-free.
    • It does seem cheap and lazy for this show to have just one family. Passions was heavily criticized but it was nicely structured with a total of four families.
    • I think it was definitely a surprising reveal in the storyline. I had a hard time appreciating Evan because I couldn't get behind his interest in Amanda. But that's because I never thought Sandra Ferguson made her a compelling character (although to give her credit she occasionally had decent emotional scenes with Mac or Rachel).
    • I'll even go further... I'll make her re-think BeLief and create a new patent. Brooke needs stuff to do. Anything other than beg or be in her panties. We need her to be creative. But sadly Bradley has a very low opinion of these characters. To him Brooke is nothing more than sex and scandal... or a pathetic doormat. Ridge is nothing more than a chauvinist pig that needs to pit women against each other to feel like A MAN and Steffy is nothing more than her father's guard-dog. I don't even want to open my mouth about Hope. She is such a fiasco in my opinion... I will not suffer if they kill her off. Bradley pooped on her character and now it's too late to fix it. Annika is great and I would hate to see her go, but slutty Hope was not her thing. The vibe was missing.
    • I've seen Jason interact with Mitch and annoy him. That's as far as I recall. I didn't even have a slight idea that Evan had a vendetta against Rachel... That came as a surprise to me. I thought Evan was Iris's dog and that's it. Now he's definitely more interesting.
    • Thanks for these. I can't recall -- did Evan's vendetta have any position on Mitch, or was it all about Rachel? @Maxim have you seen any Frames intreracting with Mitch in any way?
