He was able to make her do something she didn't want to. I think Sami feels defeated by EJ. He was able to get inside her head and he's still there. He's playing mind games with her. He did horrible things but he was not a sadist who got kicks from random acts of cruelty against innocent victims. Unlike EJ, he was capable of remorse for his wrong-doings. He was tormented by what he had done to Kayla for years after the event. EJ, meanwhile, is quite content to throw his crime in Sami's face.
