ATWT: Luke To be Recasted

GL MOM YANKS KID OFF WORLD TURNS

As the World Turns supercouple Lily and Holden are losing a son and gaining a recast. Talented youngster Jake Weary (Luke) — the 15-year-old son of Guiding Light star Kim Zimmer (Reva) — is leaving Oakdale to do normal high-school kid stuff.

"They are writing a story for Luke, which means the actor who plays the role is going to be working more," ATWT's rep tells TVGuide.com. "Due to Jake Weary's schedule, Kim Zimmer has pulled him out of the show. He needs to focus on school and he wants to be involved in sports, so working him more isn't going to fit into his schedule at this time."

Weary last airs Nov. 29. Recast Van Hansis steps in as Luke on Dec. 14. We just hope Van brings his A-game because Jake, who amazed us during the "Who killed Julia?" mystery, is a tough act to follow.

I really liked Jake W. as Luke. Its too bad that Kim pulled him out. The newbie has got a big role to fill. Best of luck to him

This sucks. I like Jake Weary, but if his mom wants him to be a "normal" kid and do "normal" kid stuff, that's her right. Jake is talented and will be able to find work when he decides to go back.

I just don't see it.......

Why in the world did Kim even get him into ATWT?! She KNEW he'd be a hit...she KNEW that the character was the offspring of one of ATWT's most famous supercouples.....she KNEW what she was getting him into. So why did she even involve him if she wanted him to do "normal kid stuff".

Here's a pic....IMO, he looks WAY too old to be "Luke".....

Sad to see Jake Weary go. But Van Hansis looks like an older Luke and looks right for the role. Time will only tell. He is also cute/handsome. ;)

Oh come on. If he wanted to get more involved in high school *AND* they were increasing the role of Luke, how in God's name is this KZ's fault?

Jake Weary was good but he wasnt great in the role. I just found him ok in the role. I am looking forward to the recast and see how he plays the role.

I'm no fan of Kim Zimmer, but that aside, I do think she made a great decision here for her son.

ITA! Mother always knows what is best for her child.

I'm sure had his screen time not increased she would have let him stay.

I liked Jake Weary in the role. I thought he was a great Luke, but I do understand where KZ is coming from, and I think that is cool. from his profile of the nuLuke, he looks like Greg Rikaart w/ blonde hair. Maybe somewhere along the line, we may Weary again on a different show.
