Is Passions being cancelled?

PSNS fans can say what they want, but at the end of the day, it's going to be cancelled, and I think that proves our points.

You don't know that King. You aren't Tabitha and you don't have the powers she once had to see into the future. So. WAIT like the rest of us. Because it AIN'T over until that fat, miserable, ugly, pathetic, shitty PEACOCK sings.

I guess we all have to agree to disagree on this PASSIONS debate. It is CLEAR that several here have blinders on when it comes to PASSIONS, but hey that their choice...and nothing I say or anyone else says is going to change that.

The fact that PASSIONS is currently in danger of being cancelled (like you said King) I think says it all....NBC is tired of giving this show chance after chance to improve their ratings.

PASSIONS fans CANNOT blame NBC for possibly making this move, financially they cannot afford it and they have given this show 7 1/2 years to improve their numbers, something they haven't been able to do...PASSIONS doesn't deserve another chance if you ask me (especially since they have not proven that they can add anything substantial to the daytime genre, like all the other soaps have at some point), they have squandered the last 5 years by failing to secure a more talented headwriter, actors and writing team and as a result their ratings have dipped and now they are way below the rest of the pack.

NBC is looking like an idiot to the rest of the entertainment industry at this point for keeping this show on the air as long as it has with THOSE kind of ratings.

That all being said, I do hope PASSIONS can improve over the next few months, get some big ratings gain and PROVE that they can actually contribute something of quality that is not below the mediocre level!!!

This "Passions was bad before Days" line is bullsh!t. Passions has been consistently good, and actually improved starting in 2004, when JER was in the thick of the Salem Stalker story at Days. I don't even understand why the fans are upset when I am consistently happy. This whole argument is dumb.

cause we have better taste?

and Rion has still failed to provide me an answer as to why it was cool for JERk to sabotage Days in 1997 for the simple reason that he decided to quit, when he did have loyal viewers and fans.

It has nothing to do with taste. It has to do with the fact that you can't accept Passions for what it is and be happy with it. I've resolved myself to the fact that Theresa and Ethan aren't going to reunite anytime soon. Having reached that conclusion, I can safely and happily enjoy Passions for the fun, satirical, campy show it is! :)

see ... the sane people in the audience don't have 8 years to dedicate to watching a couple they know will never be together pine away for each other.

LOL! WTF are you talking about? JER left Days on a high note in 1997.

He exposed Kristen's schemes and reunited John and Marlena.

He brought back Roman.

He introduced Hope's search for her missing years as Gina.

He sent John and Hope on an awesome adventure.

He reunited Jack and Jennifer.

He exposed Sami's schemes and made the b!tch pay.

He married off fan-favourite couple Carrie and Austin.

And JER didn't quit Days. NBC hired him to create and develop Passions.

For once, I actually have to agree with Rion on this one. 1997 was an awesome year for DAYS, IMO.

See, I disagree.

1997 was great for the first half, then he turned into a HUGE snoozefest during the 2nd half. I have to give him props -- he wrapped up virtually every story he had going (except Billie/Bo/Hope, which he EXTENDED). But the stuff he came up with following all that was either absurd or boring. Jack and Jennifer joined a travelling circus. He brought Roman (with Josh Taylor, ugh!) back to keep John and Marlena apart when they had just been reunited after years of being apart. He put Vivian in some boring ass story with Jonesy, which I doubt anyone remembers since it was suchabore. And yes, he had Carrie expose Sami's lies, but by the time she and Austin finally married, Carrie was already feeling torn about her feelings for Mike... not something that made most A/C fans happy, let me tell you. He also made Billie pregnant with Bo's baby, which was just a very unneeded extention to the Billie/Bo/Hope triangle which was already quite played out.

Basically, he wrapped up all of the stories that he had been playing for 5+ years (with the exception of a few), but the stuff he started writing in its place was either boring (Vivian/Jonesy) or absurd (faux-Jack/Jenn join a travelling circus). I believe he did that on purpose, to leave the next writer with a big boring canvas.

Traveling circus was Sally Sussman Moron-a, no?

Nope. It was JER.
