I'm on eastern time and according to my TiVo guide, Ford's funeral is scheduled from 9am until 12:00pm, so none of the soaps should be preempted.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Our CBS station has this schedule for soaps:

12pm: Y&R

1pm: News

1:30pm: B&B

2pm: ATWT

3pm: GL

Today's schedule is:

12:15pm: News or Funeral Runover

12:30pm: Y&R

1:30pm: B&B

2pm: ATWT

3pm: GL

So, we're following the normal CBS schedule today.

I wonder if the amount of attention these proceddings get is a matter of family preference. Maybe Nancy Regan wanted things a bit more private where as Betty Ford is willing to have a more public funeral? Just a thought.

I'm sure there was a national day of mourning declared for President Reagen in 2004. The coverage on Ford's funeral isn't going to even touch what they did on Reagen which was on 24/7 almost during that time.

Yeah. There's a lot less coverage this time around. I just don't remember the Post Office closing on President Reagan's Day of Mourning.

On a curious note, I've always wondered what would happen to GL's ITL episodes ever there was a pre-emption. Would they air on Thursdays until they catch up or would they keep them on Wednesday and just delay the Tuesday episode until Thursday. That would be weird because the ITL episodes, for the most part, do fall in between the Tuesday and Thursday episodes, timewise.

I can't even remember a full pre-emption of GL that put the show a day behind since the ITL episodes started.

Just another reason why ITLs suck!

Are they going to do periodical pre-empts like they did for Reagan in 2004? I remember they'd pre-empt to show something, then they put the body on an airplane and returned to the shows and about an hour or so later, they'd continue with the coverage. I'm seeing that the regular programming is back for the time being.
