No Goodbye Party/Cake for 30 yr. Vet Julia Barr

This was in the latest SOD. I can't believe that AMC did not have the common courtesy to give a THIRTY year vet a freakin' cake or good-bye party. AMC/McTavish/Frons should be so ashamed and embarrased about this. I can't even describe how angry this makes me. I have lost all respect for ABC. This is one time I hope Karma bites McTavish and Frons in the ass. Maybe us fans should pool our money and get her a cake. My god. This is so pathetic. Mctavish...you suck.

NO GOOD-BYE FOR AMC'S BARR

On November 14, 2006, over 30 years after taking on the role of Brooke, two-time Daytme Emmy winner Julia Barr taped her final episodes of AMC [which will air today]. But here's the rub: She didn't know until the show allowed her contract to run out in late December without scheduling further tape datesfor her that that was, indeed, her last day at work.

Just prior to the expiration of Barr's contract, SOD asked McTavish about an exit story for Brooke. McTavish demurred, "Not right now ... She exits, we just didn't do a big story ... We wanted her to stay recurring and we're very sorry she felt she couldn't do that." On when she'd last air, "whenever her contract is up."

Says a co-star, "I had no idea. We had a cake and made speeches on Terri's last day, on Connie's last day, and they hadn't been there nearly as long. I can't imagine that after 30 years on the show they wouldn't give her the same courtesy and respect they give everybody else on their last day."

I don't even watch AMC, but this has got to be the most disrespectful treatment of a veteran I've ever heard of.

Hey whyamcwhy, you didn't get the memo...it wasn't in the budget. LOL.

In all seriousness, I'm glad her character faded instead of being Frankie Frame-d at Noon Central time. That would have been LOW. No one wanted to see that.

I'd rather her not have an official goodbye, an official party cake, etc. If they had went though that trouble, I believed they would have killed her off. I'm surprised they didn't make her the killer or a victim.

Poor Julia.

Frons is a [!@#$%^&*] bastard for disrespecting one of the best actresses in daytime this way!

It's just ridiculous that the actress who played Erin got a party and Julia didn't.

It probably wasn't in the budget to spend money on a cake. They have to save all the money for all the other useless characters on the show and the new ones that they are casting. I just feel so bad for Julia. I wonder how many goodbye parties she attended and not to have one for herself..that has got to be a new low for any show.

Shhhhhhhhh I don't think we're supposed to talk about this. Didn't you know AMC is on the upswing and is making all the right choices? ;)

Seriously though, yes AMC is better and hopefully that improvement will continue, but this is completely reprehensible. I feel so bad for Barr.

She was nothing but a class act when she would have been completely justified in verbally attacking McT, JHC and Frons and she is still treated like yesterday's trash. TIIC were busy making sure Ivens and Fletcher (nothing against them) felt appreciated and knew they'd be missed, while Julia leaves the building thinking she'll be back not knowing she just said her last line.

Jesus Christ, if they can't afford a cake, I'LL BUY THEM A F*CKING CAKE!

Oh King you crack me up!

As for AMC...they continue to get prove that they are less than classy and the family soap that it's supposed to be. So glad that I'm going on year 2 of my boycott with no end in sight.

This is so low. F!ck you Frons and McTrash. Learn how to treat people with respect.

I wish that they would have given Julia a SL obviously, but if they were going to treat her like crap, I am glad she left. At least she knows what dignity and class is.

It's complete and total BS. I'm hoping the blurb in SID is right about her last appearance now being pushed to Jan is correct. Hopefully the AMC cast caused a behind the scenes riot and TPTB are going to a least give her one more taping date so everyone can be present for her final episode and have some damned cake. I mean after 30 years... give the woman some cake!

Honestly, we should all get together and send a bunch of good-bye cakes to Megan McTavish and Julie Hanan Carruthers.

I'm sick of everyone blaming everything that happens at AMC on Frons. This is all Carruthers & McT here and the whole damn thing is reprehensible.

My God, kz, your AVATAR!!!

Hottest thing ever.

Anyway, I agree.

Heck, SOD should tick off ABC with a full cover on Julia saying, "LET HER EAT CAKE!" with a tease to the behind-the-scenes scandal of her exit and a four-page look at her time on the show.
