This show needs Roseanne Barr. She'd be perfect.

Law & Order: SVU - Discussion Thread
I thought the first few post-Stabler seasons were OK, but this season was garbage. There were always contrivances but it's just not even close to being an intelligent legal drama anymore. It's all about being shocking and playing on tropes and blatant ratings-grabs. What even happened in the season finale? I forgot it was on.

The Reid storyline was also stupid because GL had just done the same exact storyline with Annie Dutton/Teri DeMarco. And that didn't exactly end well for them either after Teri was revealed to be Annie (though the build-up to the reveal was better, IIRC, and required fewer mental gymnastics and characters being stupid as hell.) Reid was surrounded by red flags and it took a year for anybody to realize anything (plus why would he switch Lily's white baby with Denise's biracial baby? lol.)

Oh god that clip is bad. Nowadays there'd be a drinking game of how many times Eddie says man, and we'd all be alcoholics. I loved Jack and Carly back then, before they turned him into Officer Jesus. I'm still puzzled as to why they thought Scott DeFreitas wasn't hunky enough. His arms looked amazing in that clip. Whose bright idea was the Reid storyline? God awful. As much as I remember the Laiman tenure as being awful, thank god they pruined the cast because there were some real duds in the Broderick era as this clip shows.

I have always been a bit bitter about Shizuka Arakawa's 2006 gold medal performance. She scaled her difficult jumps back and won by default as the other top ladies didn't skate clean, in contrast to 2014 where all the top ladies skated clean (and they just chose the wrong one, lol.) But recently I have come to appreciate her 2006 skate. Her spins and spirals were breathtaking, and she chose the perfect outfit to highlight those moves. I love the music as well, and her slow step sequence which you hardly ever see anymore. And even though the performance was scaled back technically, I think she really connected with the audience in a way you rarely see for somebody who is not a home country favorite. I have been wrong for 8 years and she was a worthy winner.

Hear hear. Agreed. The way he is being made into a martyr disgusts me. I am the first to say that the LGBT community needs to learn to choose its battles, but let's be real here. He chose to donate to that cause. He is now being held accountable for that. And then he chose to resign. Isn't the right all about choices and taking personal responsibility? He did what he did and now he is dealing with the effects.

The GOP is winning the Senate, that is for sure. The next Presidency? They have a shot. At which point the ACA becomes their baby, and we probably get a lot of reforms to it that Democrats wanted anyway. They only care about spending when they don't have the White House. I would not be surprised to see more spending, even if disguised as tax credits, to fix the law.

I see what you are saying, but the fact that it cannot be repealed is a victory for Obamacare. It was never intended to be endgame. Also, I don't think Hillary can win. I want her to, and I wanted her to last time, but it's not going to happen. America is not ready for a woman president.

They have to realize that there is no end-game that looks favorable to them when it comes to Obamacare. I mean what happens if they win the presidency in 2016? There will be more than the 7 million people currently enrolled by then. If they repeal, all those people will be cut off from their insurance, and they acted like it was a federal crime when 4.7 million lost their policies last year. At this point, they really can't repeal it anymore. They ran out of time to do it. I wouldn't be surprised if their talking points start to change now to maybe making changes in the law. Which is where Obama has been all along, but because their stance was either repeal or nothing, they actually ensured that they would be stuck with the law.

oh wow. I didn't even know they were going on, lol. Happy for Mao. Her FS at the Olympics was one of the best I have ever seen. Glad she got SOMETHING this year. Also glad to see Javier on the podium for the men. I thought he deserved to be at the Olympics as well, but maybe I was just, uh, distracted

The thing is, Iraq was a country we would 100% win a war against with. War against Russia is different. We could beat them, but it would be costlier and bloodier and not limited to just Crimea. Plus, Russia has nukes. Mutually Assured Destruction has kept the U.S. and Russia out of war since the 50s. Putin knows which countries are sacred cows and which he is not allowed to attack. Now it's time for the U.S. to afford him the similar respect and stop expanding NATO east. tbh NATO should not even exist anymore.

God I am so addicted. This show holds up completely. You could air it in 2014 and it would still work. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1aokj7_knots-landing-season-9-episode-29-the-perfect-crime_shortfilms I wish SoapNet were still showing this, one episode a day. I have them all on VHS but who has time to fish up the tapes and find my old VHS player?

Ashley is getting a lot of [!@#$%^&*] for what she is saying but I am loving her outspokenness as well. That's what people do not get -- she is not asking to have medalled. She knew going into this that she was a huge longshot for a medal. But when ladies who fell were placed above her, that's bizarre. And it wasn't just Ashley who was screwed by the judging. Kim Yuna and Carolina Kostner should have been our gold and silver medalists, respectively. If they are going to keep rigging, just bring back the 6.0 system already. There was no need to invent this elaborate new judging system that makes things less fun if you are going to keep rigging anyway. Or, just stop rigging and make the judges' scores public knowledge as Ashley logically asked for.

Oh, absolutely. I was shocked that Sandra Bezic threw shade on Kim Yuna's silver though. Usually their job is to convince the audience how righteous the judging is, but she kind of called out the bullshit that occurred there.

Agreed. Outskated by not only Yuna Kim, but also Carolina Kostner (who would have been happy with any medal, and I am thrilled for her). Yuna Kim will always be the real winner in my heart. But the judges decided they wanted the "upset" storyline, so that is what happened, whether deserved or not. Of course the real highlight of this Free Skate was Mao Asada. Best performance of the night, and one of the most legendary of all time. She knew she had no chance at a medal and she still did the best free skate of her career. Just heartbreaking.

There was a big controversy this year as Ashley Wagner failed to make the top 3 at US Nationals and was awarded a spot at the olympics anyway. A lot of people think it was racist since Mirai Nagasu placed 3rd but is not being sent. I am not sure what to think, but I hate that Ashley has gotten so much hate when she was not the one who made the decision. Poor girl had to shut down all her social media.

Agreed. I wanted to like it but it is too boring. How come True Blood and Game of Thrones are softcore porn and "the gay show" is so boring. Like, shouldn't it be the other way around?

I don't think it is silly nonsense. THere has not been enough research on e-cigs. They are advertised as safer than traditional cigarettes but there is no proof of that. They are not regulated by any entity. There is an epidemic of teenagers using them. I am personally a smoker but I get this.

If Britney wants to come back from this, she will come back. It all depends on her. She will not try to come back and fail at it. She will either take a break for a while after Vegas is over or she will stage a successful comeback.

Law & Order: SVU - Discussion Thread
I don't miss Stabler. I liked him at the time and I love Chris Meloni but Stabler's story was done and I think they have done a good job re-inventing the show since he left. There are hundreds of Stabler-era reruns to watch, so it's no biggie if I want to see a Stabler episode. I hope they will bring him back if/when the series finale comes, which hopefully is not for a while, but honestly I don't feel like there is a missing piece when I tune in to the new eppys. A big aspect in re-inventing the show has been the new ADA Barba. Love him. We haven't had a stable ADA since Casey got disbarred like 6 seasons ago. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Christine Lahti guest stint and when they would bring back Alex/Casey as needed but the "Order" aspect of this show has been suffering for years and Barba has definitely brought it back. Benson doesn't bother me any. I actually like her more as the seasons go on. The way she always always believes the victim no matter what is just her signature trait and so needed on a show like this, and that they have kept that aspect of her character consistent for 15 seasons is amazing to me. I like Rollins a lot actually, she is a good detective but she definitely has a dark side. To me Amaro is the weakest link. He is just so bland I really can't with him.
