Racism and racial representation on soaps
I did not know about this but it's being discussed these days in the AW Forum: j swift said: Of course eventually, Paulina went from a South American con artist to an Italian chef with a long lost child who somehow knew to try to find her in Bay City, but that's soaps. Bear in mind: Paulina was always waspy blonde.

You make a very valid point. I completely agree. Let me just add that I thought that Ji Min Kim could be the next Victor. How cool would that have been.

Should we mention Latham's Ji Min (I was crazy about him) and lawyer Rafe?

I wish Alan would tape these and edit them like other people are doing. I hate to complain but I can't with the awkward silences and constant overlapping. I get secondhand embarrassment. Besides, he almost never reads the fans' questions anyway so there is no point in doing these Live.

I agree. Thanks for the info about Sherman! I loved reading about him. The legal aspect of each storyline was always so intriguing.

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
Hahahah yeah, Santa Barbara and GL were pretty popular too. I wonder what makes certain shows appealing to International audiences and what does not. Certainly the schedule plays a part. The International title too. But who knows, really. AW, AMC, ATWT, DAYS, SFT, GH, OLTL, PC were all broadcast in Italy but they were canceled after very few years. Y&R survived the longest but only due to the tie with B&B. Of course foreign countries are not as big as the US, hence they can only absorb so many dramas. But I digress...

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
This Italian FB page has posted plenty of Loving scenes on their wall. Obviously they're dubbed But if you're curious, search for "Quando si Ama" https://www.facebook.com/Il-Club-delle-Soap-e-delle-Telenovelas-860647507401645 I remember the show was huge in Italy. My Uncle, who's an accountant, would literally take a break from meetings to watch it.

ROTFL! Mitch, I think I've read your comments for the longest time (maybe on MediaDomain? Soapy Syrens? it was some old forum, somewhere) and you've always cracked me up. I always look forward to your posts. Speaking of Marland, I think that it was you that once commented on how he came across as sexually prudish on his shows or something. One definitely needs to have an active sexual life to write these shows IMHO

I flagged this video to Patrick Mulcahey since the 1982 Emmys were a topic of discussion on the GL reunion the previous day. He was so gracious about it! Patrick Mulcahey @MulcaheyPatrick·7h OMG. I can't thank you enough for finding this and sending it my way. I never thought to look for it myself because I never figured it could crossed the techno-border to the internet. A beautiful gesture. Grateful for your kindness. All the credit goes to you @Forever8 for sharing the video and the person who uploaded on YT!- As The World Turns Discussion Thread

It's the "Actors who were woefully miscast in their roles, and therefore forgettable, or actors who played irrelevant characters who added nothing to TGL in the first place" reunion LOL I'm joking. It's the Boudreaux family. I think that cool anecdotes can come out of these random reunions, even if the participants had minor roles. However I'm just dreading the tech errors that might have taken place this time (I suffer from secondhand embarrassment). Maybe I'll check it out tomorrow. Yeah, you're absolutely right. I do understand his POV but still. Things like the Zaslow firing happened almost 30 years ago. P&G has long forgotten about this and nobody cares - except for us. I don't see the harm really.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Did anybody catch today's reunion? Was anything remotely interesting said? (this is me blatantly trying to save me 1 hour of my time haha) I find it a bit annoying that Alan tries to keep it so PC. When Denise Pence had the courage to bring up Zaslow, finally something really compelling was being addressed. There was no need to dance around it because the fans were quite eager to get into details in the comments. The people who tune in for these things are die-hard fans and they are already disillusioned to the BTS drama. @antmunoz Yes, they were saying in the comments that the woman was Peggy Fletcher.- What Are You Watching/Binging/Streaming Now?
I am watching a Portuguese miniseries titled A Herdade (the Homestead). It’s unbelievably good. Unfortunately it’s only available in Portuguese right now but HBO has bought off the rights and they’ll make a US version as soon as they can.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

He's also dealing with a bunch of older people who are not familiar with technology. I was amazed at Denise Pence's participation: her shot was perfect, she had flowers next to her, her audio was absolutely perfect and so was her picture. The woman is doing everything she can to start acting again. Even if she can be intense at times, I find her so inspiring. I wish her the very best.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
