  1. I have always used the terms interchangeably but I see the point you're making. To be serialized a show only has to advance day by day, or episode to next episode, where no episode is skipped & where one day follows the one before. To be a soap it must be a serial. Most have families, intergenerational, or multigenerational. Some employ cliffhangers. Soaps can use sex, adventure, escapism, all kinds of relationships, trials & tribulations, secrets & lies, social issues, health challenges. Soaps may be melodramatic. What else? I do not agree with the fairly popular idea that only soaps out New York are true soaps. I do agree that New York soaps tend to be different than LA soaps. Parodies of soaps may be serialized or not. Parodies must include comedic elements, satire, irony & the self-referential & self-mocking aspects usually are very heightened & not natural or realistic.
  2. I'm a bit surprised that she didn't audition for either one of the "Introducing" ingenues - Terry Farrell or Nicolette Sheridan!

  4. April is National Parkinsons Disease Awareness Month What Is Abundantly Clear Is How Badly We Need A Cure
  5. Not 'Amen & Pass the Ammo'? ... when ammo is a euphemism for ... 🔥🔥🔥👀👀👀
  6. I checked the scene & she does say "my first miscarriage". Further she says the last time was when she lost a patient & then she goes on to talk about a night when she needed Ted & couldn't find him. So, I expect all of that content is part of the messiness we're going to learn about in Nicole & Ted's "perfection" aka "imperfection."
  7. Yes, VW hit upon the idea of doing COUPLETS which was Reader's Theatre as a thank you to the fans & they traveled that show on weekends for several years. I saw them in Atlanta. I also uploaded all of the audio files of a live performance that is on a CD to the Internet Archive. https://archive.org/details/track-11_20240609
  8. Nor did I describe firing her. Period. Thank you for understanding what I was saying.
  9. I know that this is the NBC topic but if you look at the exec turnover on 3 P&G soaps in NY - AW, ATWT & GL - it is the same basic chaos of changing execs too fast & too often for all of them. 1995 P&G literally played musical chairs with the EP position only there were 4 execs involved so one left the employ of P&G but the other 3 each moved over one soap. And in early 1993 when Santa Barbara ended the Dobsons were set to HW AW. The tentative agreement they had with P&G was blocked by NBC who by that time apparently wanted that timeslot for another show that they owned.
  10. If I were deciding Jax would not only never return but die offscreen. Go ahead & let Joss become a gazillionaire & also can she have Emma for her new partner?
  11. Yes, and upon reflection, did she say "her first miscarriage"?
  12. It was incredibly short-sighted. Basically Jensen didn't want to return to work *because* like many new mothers, what she really wanted was to be at home with her infant. So, they wanted her more than she wanted them & that was when she dictated no more Marley & asked for perks. Cannot blame her for taking advantage but Wheeler was *right there* ready to resume playing both twins.
  13. Thanks, Robb! Given what RKK says & what the articles say (about his having a Pay or Play contract & NBC urging JFP to take him after DAYS fired him) I'm not sure that this refers to him. Just sounds to me like something planned that did not pan out. Well, they could have! Ellen Wheeler was right there, she read & everything. I believe unfortunately that JFP was totally convinced that she had to have Jensen. I certainly was one fan who disagreed!
  14. The thing that most non-Carly fans miss is that her fans love her flawed. We figure the messier the better! Anything less would be so boring. Speaking of Nina, could you believe it was her who texted Jason? And, did you see the look on her face the whole time?
  15. So am I the only person here having any concern about the possibility of a FATAL ATTRACTION extremity popping up?
  16. Didn't she tell comatose EJ that Sydney sent her love? If so, I took that to mean we won't be lucky enough to get a present Sydney, too. Wish we would but not surprised.
  17. SJB's been very interesting the last few days & fun. She liked two of my posts. One was an explanation of GH's Casey the alien & the other was this: You make an excellent point! What I still want is you & Tamara as sisters on some show. I think the idea is brilliant, don't you?
  18. According to SAG-AFTRA, only 14% of its members earn at least $26,470 annually, which is the minimum required to qualify for the union’s healthcare coverage. Additionally, only 7% of SAG-AFTRA actors and performers make $80,000 or more per year. https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-features/actors-strike-hollywood-sag-aftra-living-wage-healthcare-struggle-1234798347/
  19. This fan totally loved this story & Terry Lester as Royce is my favorite of his 3 roles. He was sublime. Of course, I like everyone else had seen my share of DID stories yet him on the witness stand elevated the drama, IMO. I can & do watch it over, occasionally.
  20. When it was pitched it seemed to many, including VW, that it had possibilities, that it held merit within it, but, by the halfway point, she & everyone I think knew it had gone very widely awry. It is my experience that this is something that can happen to the best of ideas. I do not judge CCulliton harshly based on one story that did not work. There are certainly cringeworthy moments that I see no point in even mentioning. Talking about Justine for 3 minutes is 2 minutes too long. Moving on, ... wasn't CCulliton a part of the redemption of Carl & the romance of Rachel? That 18 month, slow burn, man saved by the love of a good woman story was to me the best of the end tales. I am particularly fond of the Poet's Walk in NYC. And, I had a great appreciation of the parallel to Mac's love redeeming Rachel years before.
  21. OMG!!! But thanks so much for the quite involved extrication. I mean, he sounds like a creep.
  22. I do give him credit for one thing. He recommended Jerry verDorn to someone at OLTL for the recast Clint role & not just everyone would have seen that Jerry could play such a very different role, so he was a good friend to Jerry in doing that.
  23. We don't need a Jax. And, what are banner-flying antics?
