What I would like would be to go into cartoon mode & have an anvil dropped on him in the first 13 minutes of April 24th, just go ahead & deal with it, ... Hee hee.

From I’m Just Sayin’! Three Deaths, Seven Husbands, and a Clone! My Life on Guiding Light and Beyond: “One unforgettable fight [between Kim Zimmer and Pam Long] happened in a NY restaurant. Joe Willmore, our EP at the time, Pam and I were having dinner so we could discuss the direction they were going in with Reva. …an argument escalated between Pam and me to such a boiling point that Joe excused himself from the table, went outside, and threw up!”

I think letting it go is the best idea. What I have said about why I wanted the thread I wanted somehow does not seem to matter even though it does to me. So, I see no point in just repeating what else other is & has been said.

Well, she of course, has spoken quite a bit about it. She considers it her most remarkable work. And, I don't see a problem with that line from Jerry. Jane was playing 3 alters so not being able to tell who she was any given work day means she was doing her job. Right? If I understand correctly in the story they had not yet introduced the 3rd Carrie. Supposedly Potter cited the ratings. So the creative types may have felt they didn't have the chance to get to a fair point & definitely not conclusion. Like you, I was under the impression it was mid-contract.

Back when Twitter was good, I had the privilege of discussing soap things in private DMs with Patrick Mulcahey, who was Douglas's protege, and this is what he said about what happened: (from my notes which were copious) Allen Potter fired Jane Elliot & he & Douglas had this huge falling out over it. And, PJ, I'm not sure whether anyone would have even desired to have Jane Elliot remain after the 3 Carries storyline was taken to its dramatic/logical conclusion. So the idea - which is sheer speculation - that she would not want to stay with the show, isn't it a moot point?

I am not trying to give anyone a hard time, much less, the software interface. This to me has just gone crazy & I am struggling to "make it make sense." So, do I now understand you want this thread to stay just where it is? And, we could make a thread devoted to nothing but soap actors & their primetime attempts. On second thought, NO WIRE THREADS!

Palace Guard Discussion Thread
Yes, I knew that the information had been posted & was fully aware that I was intentionally duplicating it. My intent would not be satisfied by the Santa Barbara thread & I'm not sure in that regard about the Primetime Soaps thread because I haven't given it consideration. Last, since this is not the thread I created, I certainly am not going to go to bat for its continued existence. However, since PALACE GUARD is not a soap & is soap-adjacent because of a soap actor, I'm not sure where it should be moved/merged with. I get it as you've said it multiple times that you do not think the thread was warranted. I did, but, as I've now said already, this is not the thread I created, so I move from disagreeing with you to agreeing. @Toupscan you move this content to Prime-time soaps & delete this, please? Thanks. Sorry for the extra work.

Agree to disagree. He learns his lines, hits his marks, maintains eye contract, exhibits vocal variety, is very personable & seems to relate well to his scene partners & he definitely emotes. I've already touched on some gays in soaps but I think I can take it further. It's very VERY hit & miss. BTG has Martin & Smitty, definitely gay male couple. They have 2 adopted teen kids, girl 16, boy 17. Age is questionable. They do not seem old enough, as the parents. GH did have 2 women #Kraze Kristina & Blaze. This past year Kristina faced a daunting personal, life crisis. Instead of having them deal with it together, they broke them up & sent Blaze "out on tour". (She's a singer.) Soffer is excellent, period. Isn't he a regular on the NBC Wednesday night drama, last time slot, PD? Okay, about the umbrella storyline line that ended in 2003, on the TV Megasite I fell down a very deep rabbit hole, ended up reading transcripts of shows in June 2003. Not useful for this discussion but all kinds of fun. Dusty is hilarious. And, no, he wasn't meant to be. LOL!

Oh, no, now to try to think what it was about. It's so funny that I can remember storylines from the 70s, 80s & 90s pretty well or even very. Then I get to the oughts I go hmmm. It had all the people their age group in it: Lily, Holden, Rose, Paul, Emily, etc. More people. I guess it began with Scott Holroyd but finished with Howarth. I'm going to have to look it up. My favorite MB line is her having just won the Emmy & thanking JH for "15 years of sexual tension".

The only thing that jumped out at me, and it did jump, was "open-heart surgery". 1st it was needed a pacemaker hooked up & inserted. Then, no, not a pacemaker but some non-threatening "procedure" which meant to lots of us the kinds of things that are done in cath labs routinely, so not scary. Now we have entered scary territory, also much sicker than I'd been thinking.

I do not know why you persist in posting abut other posters rather than the topic at hand. But, about your petty complaint, since we do not have an effective Edit function, sometimes quoting becomes convoluted. And, yes, we all do know that. Not news. Not something that just happens to one person.

It was a shock to me, too!!! Her first choice was Carla Borelli who played Reena on TEXAS & that's why she declined playing Reva. She said she hoped to do something very different in her next role. So, to her way of thinking Reva was a 2.0 of Reena. Now, while it is absolutely true that KZ was not anyone Pam wanted in the role, still, they pretty quickly reached a point where they fought bitterly about Reva but then after verbally going at it they'd settle down to a point where they both thought everything was just peachy keen. Remember when an EP was eating supper with the two of them & they were going at it, disagreeing to beat the band & he excused himself, left the table, went outside the restaurant & puked up his guts in the gutter.

MB a homophobic bigot? I seriously doubt that. And, I've seen no sign of it. I'd be very interested in it if someone has. Lucas is still new but his gayness seems fine. His ex. Brad, has almost stalked him. But, his new romance looks very interesting. Y&R has one couple, two women, they don't identify as lesbian, which is weird. Also the show does not write for them, enough. Mostly just told about things they did offscreen. They had a two-day wedding. DAYS has had lots of gays, some good story, other awful. They won the WGA award one year for one of the awful ones. They also had two women where neither one identified as lesbian. One said she was bi & the other said she was fluid. GMAB. They actually had a threesome with a guy. So, to be the "diversity" soap, they fail. Ron is HW for 5 more days.

Well, Pam Long's first choice for Reva turned her down, flat, and I believe it was even before the casting process began. Now, we have no reason to think ... Okay, what I'm trying to say is my impression is that she was talked into KZ. If your impression that they just stuck her with KZ while she continued to be resistant? Just a very tiny point of curiosity on my part.

This is all or mostly, weird to me. Let me give a baseline of sorts. I was a HUGE fan of Martha Byrne. I totally adored Scott Holroyd. When they cut that excellent umbrella storyline short by having this stupid killing of Rose, I was furious. COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MADDER. Just as I loved MB's Lily in the same fashion & equal to it, also, I loved MB's Rose. To me it was one of the smartest things to come out of Chris Goutman's head. Then, much later, when Goutman inexplicably decided to throw MB under the bus, I was flabbergasted. Hated Beck in the role. Absolutely interfered with my enjoyment of the show, as a fan. Then, of course, Goutman did a whole helluva lot of other things I am severely critical of. Just to check off the rest of the boxes, me & Rattray, nope, didn't work. I'm sure she's a lovely person but, ... not Lily to me. And, whoever it was who posted about MB as some sort of privileged Broadway child actor, well, it's just not really accurate, although it is true she told them she wanted to act when she was 10 & they took her to auditions, etc. & yes she did work in Broadway shows. But, BITD if she was privileged or entitled she hid it very well. I had occasion to know & to know her mom, salt of the earth. I'd have sworn she was a grounded, real person. Now, today she & Doug Davidson can go kick rocks.

I love seeing this interview posted. Very much nostalgic, for me. I remember reading this in its original foray into fan minds. I am bold to say that there is a legacy, of writing, to be observed: Irna taught Pete. Pete taught Marland. Marland taught Mulcahey. Unless someone knows of anyone who Patrick might have taken as a protege, then, the line stops here. Why do I persist in calling Harding Lemay, Pete Lemay? Because I read that he hated "Harding". He found it necessary for official & legal documents & also his entire family of origin all called him "Harding" which he hated. He actually liked "Pete" & so that's what I call him. Possibly scandalous but I think he had a crush on the actor. I'm NOT suggesting that he was going to do anything about that, other than be buddies. However, much more important to us is his statement that Lisa Brown was his muse & so Nola & Iva, it is definitely a thing.

ALL: General Retro Soap Discussion
As some of us are what I call aficionados of obscure, short-lived primetime soaps, I will be posting some about this from time to time. Today, THE MONROES. When it aired in 1995 on ABC, fans of Susan Sullivan, John Barrowman, stories of dynastic political families, etc. may have been intrigued. But, things did not go well. So much so that only half of the 13 episodes that were made, made it to air. Later, in 2005, the whole show was aired on SOAPnet. As a collector of some of these soaps, this one leaves me in the lurch. This is also because the originally broadcast episodes were shown all out of order. So I find that I have Episodes # 1,2,4,5,6 & 8. If anyone knows where I might find Episodes # 3, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13, I would be much obliged to have that information. (Unintentionally bolded)

You know when you post things like this: #1 It's off-topic because you are posting about a poster & not about the topic at hand. #2 It is unnecessarily insulting. #3 It is entirely without merit. #4 I believe it is actually illegal since you are incorrectly alleging that someone is delusional, that they in fact hear voices. This at the very least is defamation of character. And, I'm sure the right attorney could come up with more reasons why this is in no way a legal, good faith post of information, for just one example. #5 You have let me know that you do not wish to engage with me in any way, ever. As you know I usually 100% comply with your wishes in this regard. (This being a singular exception.) But, what does it say when you feel free to post in this way when you hold me to these other standards? #6 IOW, I leave you alone, why do you not do the same? Well, this turned into one giant ridiculous cluster***. All of the other posts I had planned to make here, now do not fit. My next post would have been about THE MONROES specific to the missing episodes, etc. After that would have been a post about Berenger's & current information about it. IOW, this was not meant to be about Palace Guard & if I'd meant it to be then I certainly wouldn't have titled it what I did.
