As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Back in '98-'99 various corporate entities approached P&G (not PGP or Televest) about buying AW or buying into AW or buying the right to re-broadcast vintage AW. FOX TV wanted a daytime lineup of their own & thought starting with what was then current AW would have been great. ABC & Angela Shapiro wanted her good friend Linda Dano & her character Felicia Gallant. The entity that became Viacom wanted something, details unknown. The entity that is now Paramount wanted something, details unknown. What is now Sony but was then, I think, Columbia Tri-Star (and SoapCity), wanted to do some kind of partnership. P&G predictably, I might add, sent them all packing. As a fan activist in favor of AW having some kind of future, at that time, all of that from the pages of the Business section and/or Variety & Advertising Age, was very disheartening because it was basically the other shoe dropping. No other eventualities existed beside cancellation. Now, all that said, and I'm sorry if you've been over all of this ground & it is tedious covering all the dam*ed history, all I want to know is if Collen's alleged information is about *current* destruction of materials or if it somehow is about the historical wiping or taping over that is already known. To me that is what is key. It would be easy for someone to hear about the historical practice & mistake it for new activity. The last information I have on this subject is that *CURRENT* P&G (or PGP or Televest) has 5 soaps "in warehouse" (whatever that means) & that 5 different streaming services have contacted them specifically wanting to buy outright or license to stream vintage P&G soaps & that P&G had replied, "We are no longer in the soap opera business." That dovetails perfectly with my personal appraisal that P&G values its stuff too much to sell or rent, but not enough to invest in a future for it themselves. I am personally suspicious of the above being about *5 soaps" & about "5 corporations". What's up with the number 5?! Could just be being cynical. Oh, yes, but if it is 5 in storage, I believe that is AW, ATWT, GL, SFT & I don't know the last.)

Ken Corday interview on the move to Peacock.
You might be right. There does seem to be an undertone of peeps who do not like to be rushed! Face it, as soap fans go, we don't like change. So, mebbe more time to get used to an idea is an idea whose time has come?!! 🙈🙊🙉 Now that line used to be: It's still [insertsoapname] but it's not your grandmother's [insertsamename] anymore. A shift? A vortex?

Ken Corday interview on the move to Peacock.
Last I heard it was 7 months - the 6 in the can & one more month written & fully vetted & ready to tape. Of course, that's splitting a fine hair, sorry, because it's a long d*mn time to go betw air show & audience reaction whether it's 6 or 7 or 9! Godawful is what it is, altho I know they credit if w/ being the reason they could cut their budget in half & therefore stay on the air till now.

Yes, Maggie Cory #Adult 1, Robyn Griggs Wiley, daughter of Cecile & Sandy, wasn't it? I know they teased she was Cass's but they did not go that way! Changing the subject slightly, back to Anne Heche, here's an IG from her most recent girlfriend, Ami Goodheart, acclaimed Costume Designer

Hmm, okay. I must have misremembered. I thought Robyn was just hanging out with John Wayne Bobbitt & some others of his group. But, they were an item, huh? (My fave, too.) One of my oldest friends has just posted in my FB group to me that she & her husband know Robyn & her husband & shared good things about them. They live in PA & work there in professional theatre & Robyn worked there, too. Robyn was from their town. She talked about her husband, the golf pro, and how devoted he has been to Robyn. And, of course, about her last 2 yrs & how valiantly she fought but that she did not lose her great sense of humor! Apparently she had a little dog who was as devoted to Robyn as she to it. I found out last week that Paul Michael Valley has been diagnosed with lung cancer. And, I had been waiting to hear from Anna Stuart & she did not disappoint. She is so good with words & with feelings! And, they stayed so close. (I did not realize that AW was wooing Anna to come back while she was in H'wood.) I'm still in a "not okay" place about Anne. I'm a F'ANNE. But I'm trying to latch onto every positive tidbit I can find. My favorite articles besides Anna's now are the "stubborn incandescence" & the Roger Ebert website "review of career and life". I'm loving learning more & celebrating more Anne esoterica from her not knowing who Lindsey Buckingham was when she dated him (SO Anne!) to it being a serendipitous snowstorm that we have to thank for her being "found"! I have just seen 2 brand new URLs for the "Call Me Crazy" audiobook. I have it & it's wonderful that it's Anne's voice. If anyone wants the links, I'll copy/paste them. I was in a group of AW fans that were in touch with VW online & on the phone & she & CK were guardians & mentors to the Maggies & we did not like Jodi O'Keefe not one bit & they tried to get us to be good! She was just a long-legged model-wannabe with 1 trick - remain perfectly motionless draped on a sofa.

Anne Heche hospitalized with severe burns from car accident
Indeed it seems to be epic in proportion to tragic & also horrific & surreal. It's almost crazy that another person who played the twins had a horrible car accident where the other driver was seriously hurt & that was Jensen & she paid a fine & did time, too. I think it would have been excellent for Anne to find herself back on a soap! I just saw that Anne's death has been officially deemed an accident. People 5 yesterday death ruled an accident. I am one who hopes that they look into the mechanics & electronics of that car.

ARTICLE: Rena Sofer to Exit ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’
I did not realize that they were like the boy who cried wolf! I had a knee-jerk reaction to Rena Sofer's news. I think she'd make an excellent Hope Williams Brady but I am not sure I want to wish her into the fire just out of her own frying pan. I just like her & also feel that DOOL needs to have Hope around.

Anne Heche hospitalized with severe burns from car accident
I've read some things that I think might be of interest that I did not see in this thread. A wonderful "review" of Anne's career & Anne's life, on the Roger Ebert website. An article in the New Yorker about Anne's stubborn incandescence. Anna Stuart sez I am one of those "F'annes" of Anne Heche who has been positively enthralled with her since her first day in the bubble bath when she had to call Michael for help. Followed her career & life very closely all these years. Always been in a fan group. For the years that it was up & running I was on a web-based board that she was involved with herself. For days after the crash I couldn't sleep. I'm grieving but I'm trying to stay on side with positivity. I'm one of the Mods in a FB fan group helping out the Admin as she is now screening all newcomers & actively blocking, kicking, deleting negative posts, haters, people baiting, etc. The venom that is being expressed is disgusting. And, the Puritanical judgments are way out of bounds. One tiny surreal detail in this saga is that the renter had two dogs & a tortoise, all fine thank goodness, and the turtle's name is Marley. I believe that the renter just had to be checked out & given some assistance because of smoke inhalation, which is also a blessing. She also is having real help with her loss of belongings in the GoFundMe acct. that was set up for her & that people have given to generously. Anne was always very proud of her soap roots! She was proud of the work she did & of the fact that she memorized 60-70 pgs. per episode she was in. She adored her soap fans. She got a kick out of the fact that fans of hers began to call themselves F'ANNEs & she always had time to answer questions about the Love/Hudson twins. I found out last week that one of her primary scene partners at AW Paul Michael Valley who played Ryan Harrison has recently gotten a diagnosis of lung cancer. So, AW alums & fans keep getting hit with stuff. I'm a huge fan of MiT, Men in Trees, and was delighted to find that someone has uploaded both seasons to YT. There's no legal way to re-watch but there is YT. I think it would've been a long-running show if it hadn't run into the WGA strike, although they were moving it around from night to night & I know that can be a precursor to cancelation.

ARTICLE: Kelly Thiebaud to Exit ‘General Hospital’, Returning to ‘Station 19’ for Season 6
I'm going to miss her but I have to be happy for her as "Station 19" would seem to be a good primetime gig. I've watched it a few times. I watch GH on Hulu & "Station 19" comes on right after. I wonder if they will recast. I can't stand what they're putting her through with her tolerating even for one moment the cowboy Cody Bell. I mean he is practically stalking her. But, she is well-placed with lots of connections, the hospital & her mother being two biggies.

General Hospital: August 2022 Discussion Thread
The strangest thing happened in the Twitterverse tonight. Kin Shriner tweeted that after 45 yrs with the show he couldn't believe what had happened now, or couldn't believe what the show had done now, something to that effect. And, Jackie Zeman tweeted a new pic of herself, Lesley Charleson, Kin Shriner & Genie Francis, around a table, smiling at the camera & her tweet said, again something to the effect of, that they had loved or enjoyed being there with all of us all these years & that they had had a good run. Of course, we imagined the worst things possible! I don't know if we'll find out what that was about tomorrow or not. But, I hope it's nothing, just nothing at all. I could envision them being called in to give them bad news about the show. I very much hope not. It would be such a surprise to me that I'd have to label it shock.

GENERAL HOSPITAL July 2022 Discussion Thread
OH! Thanks. Obviously I had no idea. As far as I know Robin & Matt Crane & kiddos are living well, but I don't have any hard info. I saw a picture of Matt & Robin, just their faces, squished together last week. Loved it! In the same bunch of pix was one of Robin & Linda Dano waving, as if to a crowd. It was lovely.

GENERAL HOSPITAL July 2022 Discussion Thread
This conversation comes up off & on & there's generally just people who like it & people who don't like it. All about a personal preference. Me, I love it. All the way back to Bill Hayes as Doug singing "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" to SSH as Julie & all the rest of the singing at Doug's Place, and through Gloria Loring & on. I even have an affinity for the restaurants that had live singing. The Nurses' Ball just makes me Squeee! I even enjoyed it when AW ran a contest for a band to back up Dean Frame. But, I totally get that not everyone feels that way. Anna Lee died.

Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004 The blackout in Springfield continues. Maureen Bauer died in a car crash Jan. 11, 1993. I like to say that 'Mo was a Reardon by birth, a Bauer by marriage, Michele's mother by circumstance, seen by many fans as the inheritor of Bert's matriarchy, a tentpole legacy character and Roger's only real friend, … she was lost to the ages. - Donna L.
