  1. Whenever a show is cancelled, there is usually a move to do what? Find a new venue. In the grand scheme of things, if you have a new home to go to, then you get to keep plugging away at it. If you don't have any place to go, you're cancelled, that's it, it's all over. There's life in them thar bones.
  2. Corday gives a little history lesson, beginning with his father on directing GL Radio and TV. But, in a little bit he says, "In 1975 Days went from a 1/2 show to an hour show…another first." Is he kidding? Or does he just not know what he doesn't know? NBC took AW to an hour first & when that succeeded they took DOOL to an hour & they had a standalone hour show for DOC but never pursued it further. And, then of course, since in the soap business corporate copy-catting is rife, other nets took other shows to an hour. (Despite resistance from the soap creative world.) A woman named Len Bolen & the Head Honcho Fred Silverman forged a new way, but it began with AW.
  3. Thank you. I'm sure there are people in smaller roles who've died. And, Jessica Klein. I don't know why I am fixated on Tylo & Brown but their deaths & Anne's have just had such an effect on me. This is very nice. Nathan Scoggins speaks abt. Anne & they sang ...
  4. Here. "since the $1.99 deal doesn't kick in until September 19, one week after DAYS moves to streaming." So, it was just an error then, no big deal. I picked it up from that post & ran with it.
  5. Okay, so 8 people from soaps have died so far this year, is that right? Or am I missing somebody?
  6. That is what I think. She might have had an inkling that his retirement was coming given how long he'd been in that slot & his age, etc. Glad to hear someone else think it. And glad you found that quote! That was what I was referring to & looked that night & did not find it. Thnk god I got a date right. MIracle.
  7. Yeah, I knew it didn't start out having anything to do with the American South! Good to point it out, tho'. My problem is the way it turns out. And, it's really not something of significance. It only rises to the level of "pet peeve". But, there really are people who believe, because they heard it or thought that's what they heard, for just one example, that Southerners are so stupid that they eat dirt. There's also a bias against rural people & lo & behold the South is largely rural.
  8. I admit it was paranoid to think briefly that they were screwing with our heads. I'm a life long soap fan & it's taught me that sometimes they are screwing with our heads!
  9. Great! Here's a Queen saying she has just that many people in her family! Kristen, Susan, Mary, Penelope, .. Okay, now I see the catch. The special promotion price doesn't kick in until *specifically* Sept. 19th, where the show does its move on Sept. 12th. Why would they do that? A test to see if fans will give up a week to save $3 a month? Of course they will. Sheesh. Is there a soap opera sociologist specialist in the house?!
  10. Okay. I can see that. However, is the rule one acct, one person? Rather than a family acct with 3 peeps on it?
  11. I love the Chicagos! I didn't know till this minute they were being moved. I don't care because I do both Peacock & Hulu but it's nice to know. Thnx. I wanna like Peacock. Everything I learned about the working relationship betw RC & Al & Peacock doing the BSes & the Xmas show just seemed so collegial & so clearly excited about the prospects.
  12. A good thought! But that presumes that you would have the opportunity for dialogue, which is a question.
  13. I hope this isn't seen to be off topic, even though it is a little tangential. One of my favorite videos from 1975 is a Tomorrow Show about soaps. Up on dailymotion. Tom Snyder the host of course. Agnes Nixon. Mary Stuart. Joe Stuart then maybe still at the DOCTORS, not sure, and a woman who was the first to do an email service with daily recaps of all the soaps. Great fun to watch! It's the youngest I've seen of Agnes Nixon & they were treating the topic seriously, too.
  14. I think that people who want to do this, and why wouldn't they, will have to use a totally different email, valid of course, *and* a totally different credit card acct. That would be your 2 preventables!
  15. And he did that because they were an item, right? Talk about unprofessional.
  16. Oh, come on, Doug & Julie are very popular & they do a lot of casual, down home type stuff on twitter, in little videos, in their IG acct. etc. Suzanne of the TV Megasite did a post showing Patch & John at a computer with a link to some how-to info on signing up with Peacock Premie. It was a clever connection. So is Doug & Julie. But, I agree that millions of (us, because I am one of 'em) older Americans are already streaming. I think the peeps that cannot imagine doing this or the peeps that do not have access to the Internet is a small subset of the greater whole. I'm 71 & I stream dadgummit. ⏳2🦚!
  17. I remember reading that CBS let it be known, in public, that they wanted the Bells to create a new soap for them to replace GL & it may have been '96-'97. I might look to check the date. But, anyway, what happened was P&G pitched a hissy fit & there was this big confab & CBS laid out what they expected/wanted out of both ATWT & GL. And, things that they did not think they were getting out of P&G's two remaining soaps, on CBS. If I remember correctly the Bells refused to enter into it at all, that they wanted to keep their noses clean. I don't think they liked CBS doing that in public & involving them in it. This rings my bells. [cough] [bad joke] Just thinking of close to that time, 1998 was when the clone died, so back off & you'd have the date when CBS began their pressure on GL to do that story. And at least by that time CBS was telling P&G things that they had to do - or else. And, or else = cancelled! And Paul said the show would never recover if they were forced to do that story. When those affiliates changed the show to 10 am they did so where there was that damnable stupid "Day Ahead" issue which likely did so much damage in ratings actually telling who was watching what show when.
  18. Amazing! I am not alone in this! I thought I was the only one who objected. Metro ATL speaking up here. Then there are people who equate a Southern accent with stupidity & that rankles. Ever hear Nancy Curlee Demorest?! Wonderful rich Southern accent, so there's one that I would submit is a freakin' genius.
  19. Indeed! Maybe some relief. Here's a bit more. Life celebrations are being planned for both Robyn Griggs Wiley (Maggie, AW) and Anne Heche (Love/Hudson twins, AW & too numerous to list!) Robyn - Sept. 10, near Lancaster, PA Anne - no details known, only *soon* We're trying to find out if any video of the events will be posted & if so, where, etc. A good friend of Anne's, Derek Warburton, has an incredibly rich IG acct., just jam-packed full with videos, etc. A delight! But, I have to tell you that there is still absolutely horrific things being said about Anne. I'm helping out a friend & fellow F'ANNE who has a 3Kmember ANNE group, as a mod, screening & deleting & blocking. As much as there are now HUGE numbers of new fans, there are unb-freakin-lievable haters. The new thing is one liner jokes about Anne's death. Disgusting. And if anyone wants to listen to Anne narrating "Call Me Crazy" & you want a link to stream OR download, PM me. Although one, to stream only, is on YT & anyone can find it just by fighting through a search of GOBS of videos. It, of course, is audio only & 2.5 hrs. long.
  20. Paul Michael Valley (Ryan Harrison) has had successful surgery & is recovering nicely.
  21. I agree! At least he got some money. And, then, for once in her life JFP did the right thing.
