Speaking of OLTL '91-'96 & then beyond, and I am eating up the discussion, what did fans think primarily of Claire Labine then.? I found out recently that the way she left GH was at her own request because she was exhausted. And, prior to that I had read that she owed ABC a yr on that contract & they chose to have her burn that off at OLTL. Was that less than ideal?

No other like him. When I think of GL writers putting their heads together, brainstorming an ALS story for Roger, beginning with putting Roger & Holly together & Paul stopping them & then MADD saying what she did, I get burned up all over. For once JFP did the right thing.

I doubt very seriously that any but the most juvenile would take it apart & render *cock or *pea when most people know what a beautiful bird a peacock is & that it's associated with NBC just like the 3 music notes are. That said, I'm not sure it is a good thing to be associated with!

I think there are many complex reasons why soaps have already declined as much as they have, which is most of the way gone, and will continue to slide into the abyss. And, I don't think at this point that fan reaction makes one iota of difference. If the small niche market that watches these last 4, enjoy it or hate it & still watch, then I think that's okay. I'm watching 2 soaps again. There are things I complain about. There are things I like. I quit them for years & I feel no guilt about that. With the end of the last four, something changed.

I don't think I'm in the minority when I say that I like this actor better.

You might be interested in this. Might not. The MarkH here is a long-time online friend, a soap nut, of course and a statistics guy. Years ago he could prove statistically that soaps were going to decline to such a point that they would eventually all fail. Of course I think a lot of people thought that w/out the statistical bent.

Of course, watching it on your computer is another way to go. I know some people don't like to *watch TV* on their computers, though. As an AW fan I have been one of Michael Malone's detractors, saying often & loudly, that OLTL in the 90s with Malone & Griffith & Gottlieb was a perfect example of "lightning in a bottle." And that that was never repeated by MM or JG, so maybe the catalytic converter was LG. Doesn't matter. The way he rewrote Jake, Toni's rape, the 13 Bourbon St. stories & characters, his apparent disinterest in historical AW, and his short term being only 6 months in Bay City, well, there just wasn't anything to write home about. But I got onto a tear, one of my mini-quests, to find out or figure out who wrote the AMC/OLTL crossover event complete with baby swap & helicopter crash & 4 HWs overlap the '03-'04 event. Megan McTavish whole time at AMC. Michael Malone & Josh Griffith most of the time at OLTL. Tail end of the time Dena at OLTL. So likely it was written by McT & MM & JG. Does anyone know? I can post the draft I'm working on if the group wants to vet it for me. And, of course, RIP, may light perpetual shine upon him. May angels guide him to his heavenly home. May he be met by people he hasn't seen in years & beloved pets. Condolences to his family & friends. And one more thing EFFCancer!

Now that sounds like you have specifics in mind. Personally, I hope they turn the writing more toward a semi-wacky, somewhat comedic, traditional story-telling, like both the BS's were, about adventure, relationships, etc. and not so much camp, OTT, demonic possession, essence of FrankenStef, etc. I wonder if they could get that lag time way down from 7 mos. I wonder if they could present a more balanced way to handle cast usage. One of the winning Writing Reels was that first day of the 2.0 Demonic Possession, with Doug in Marlena's office, being evaluated for possible Alzheimers & the devil came out. I can see that that was a well-written, tight script & I am not so leery about them winning both Writing Awards with that reel in mind. But, I still think they need to do things with the writing, with how they use personnel, with that lag time and get rid of that blue 'look filter'. Ron & Al were in regular communication with Peacock to produce at least BS2 if not BS1 also. That's another version, or at least a subset. I'm sure they're happy with the amount of people who subscribed to see 2 or this would not be happening. I just hope what made them happy is a realistic reasonable amount that they can best.

First of all, chillax, you're making fools of yourselves. Second, vintage episodes of Y&R are not shown anywhere except illegally on YT or dailymotion, etc. Current episodes are streamed. Third, current wisdom is that yet again P&G has been approached & is categorically not interested.

I find personally that I have room to care about AH, her sons Homer & Atlas, her sister Abigail, and the renter & her 2 dogs & tortoise named Marley and even the homeowner!
