The Politics Thread
I did just see on CNN, a pretty long looking line in Texas. (Though, I think it was a different city than Houston). Hopefully, everyone in long lines will stay put and get the opportunity to vote.

The Politics Thread
That's mostly the main way, I've voted, that old school way with the pen and paper, lol. The only exception was when I voted for the first time at 18 in Texas and I had to pull a lever. But I've never really got to vote electronically. (Though, I definitely wouldn't mind voting like that). The new machines that were being used at the largest polling place in my area have a flash drive now with a memory. In case it fails they are supposed to have a backup of the memory. Hopefully, those machines will continue to run smoothly for those who use them. And I just saw on CNN that Joe Biden is predicted to win NC. I am interested in seeing what other results come from the state.

The Politics Thread
Just made it to the polls in time, before they closed here at 7:30pm EST in North Carolina. It was busy at work today and I stayed a little longer. I usually get off 6:30, but stayed a little later today because we were shorthanded in the office. But I was able to get out of there in enough time and grab my dad and we voted. There weren't many people at our polling place (like 8 or 9 at most). Though, it never is crowed at my polling place. I did hear NC was experiencing some minor issues, but none where I'm at. The largest polling place in the city had gotten some new voting equipment this year. (Not mines it was pen and paper ballot as usual). And people were reporting that things went smoothly voting with it, which I was glad to hear. I wonder how the results will end up shaking out here in the state.

The Politics Thread
I'm going to go vote on Super Tuesday with my dad in the North Carolina Primary. It did cross my mind to vote early, but I will find some time to go on Tuesday before or after work. I wonder how the turnout will be here. I have a couple co-workers who are working the polls, including one who's been doing it for at least a few years. I have thought about working at one of the polls. I may do that one day. I normally work on Tuesdays, but I still may end up doing that at least once. I think here you need like one day of mandatory training and just have to fit some criteria. (like register voter, not be running for public office etc). I think that would be interesting thing to do, plus my voting place is in a predominantly black neighborhood. North Carolina has caught flack for it's treatment regarding black voters in the past. And that ID law that was passed was actually struck down by a judge. Though, thankfully, I've never had/really seen issues at my polling place. But maybe I can work there at least once, and help make sure everything goes smoothly for everyone.

Janet Jackson Appreciation Thread
Janet has recently reemerged promoting her music and a new tour. She went on "The View" to surprise Whoopi and the rest of the co-hosts and entire audience with tickets. She also showed up on Jimmy Fallon's late night show and did a very cool rendition of "Runaway" using classroom instruments. If you're a Janet fan this will put a smile on your face. I've looked at a couple of appearances with her lately. (Including the one on Fallon). And she seems happy and as gracious as ever. She really is lovely and I'm glad to see she's happy.

Saved By the Bell
Interesting. And I think they did a nice job of casting Zach and Jesse sons: Jesse's son (maybe Slater's as well, IMO, he looks like him, lol). I don't know how many kids they will have but I am glad they at least each have one teen. (I thought I read somewhere that Jesse/Slater would have smaller children, but maybe that was a rumor, things changed or they have them in addition to Jamie) Both Zach/Jesse are old enough to have a teenager. And truth be told Zach could have a 20 something with Kelly. If they are still together they would have been married like 26 years now. Even if they waited a few years to have kids after they married, they still could have a 20 something. I wonder if Jesse's son Jamie Spano is Slater's son. I could buy him as Slater's son. But if he is, I do wonder why he doesn't have Slater's last name. I could see Jesse giving him a hyphenated name like Jamie Spano-Slater, but to leave Slater's name off altogether...hmmm... I wonder what the backstory is there.

I wonder if a lot of those people are mainly Lane fans and they largely prefer CK because her version of Lily was with Cane. Also, thanks for posting those clips from 1988 BoldRestless. I was looking at one of them and I enjoyed seeing Traci/Brad together. I may end up looking some of the others a little later. And that Thanksgiviing episode from 2008 was interesting as well. It was interesting seeing where everyone was at a little over a decade ago compared to now. Nikki/Paul sleeping together, Nick/Phyllis a family with Summer, Tyra (who I liked) around with young Ana, Detective Gil, Victor in jail, Victoria and JT/ baby Reed a family. Plus Billy/Lily spending some together. I always thought that BM's Billy and CK's Lily had good chemistry together. (And truth be told, I think JT's Billy chemistry also had some chemistry with her). But it's interesting to see what has changed between now and then.

The Politics Thread
I don't know who thought this was a good idea, lol. This sounds more like an endorsement, instead of a prevention/awareness campaign. I'm not getting a beware of the dangers of meth use, from this. I'm getting more of a "Beef it's what's for Dinner" vibe off of this, and I'm sure that wasn't their intention, lol.

All My Children Tribute Thread
I hope that Cam ends up getting well. I understand that a lot of people didn't care for Ryan, though I did like that character. I agree with those that say Cam in real live has always seemed like such a nice guy. He has always been very appreciative of the soap genre and of soap fans. He was basically an ambassador for All My Children and the ABC soaps in general for years. (Often happily participating in events like the Super Soap Weekends/Fun in the Sun types to promote the shows).

Thanks for sharing. That episode from 1975 was great. I particularly liked the scene where Leslie and Stuart were talking about Jennifer's concerns about having the surgery, and how she would be viewed by men. I also liked when Peggy showed up right before her mother was going into surgery after no one thought she would. I really enjoyed this episode.

I have been watching and enjoying some of his videos from around that time frame. I saw he uploaded some more from the late 90's early 2000s. I like this clip with Ashley/Mamie/Jill, when Ashley is trying to figure out how to save Jabot financially. And Maime who has been doing well financially offers to help. Lol at Mamie/Jill. Also, this one with Olivia, Alex and Phyllis from the early 2000's: (I apologize if these clips have already been posted. This thread is so long, I'm not sure if they have been lol. But these videos from this particular user have just been uploaded within the past few days ) And Phyllis meeting Billy, Jill and Mac for the first time (2000)

All My Children Tribute Thread
I always thought that David and Angie had pretty good chemistry together. Even when she first came back to the show met him, and didn't like him. And thought very poorly of him. I saw sparks even when she couldn't stand him and they were having conflict with each other. I think if the show had done more with them that would have been interesting.

That is really who she looks like lol. I saw a couple of episodes where her friends did call her about for being too mean. Though Kelly her friend in the first season was also pretty mean herself. In one of the episodes I saw, Brooke was talking about trying to be nicer. A lot of the first season is on youtube, so I will try and get around to watching all those episodes. Maybe someone will eventually put more of the later seasons up there and it might be revealed whether she got some comeuppance for her behavior or not.

I was looking at some episodes today mainly from the first season, and Brooke was indeed messy, lol. She was just mean and messy because she could be. Like trying to prevent Dylan from getting with Courtney just because she could. In the episodes from season one that I'm watching, she doesn't even seem that interested In Dylan, she just wants to make sure that Courtney doesn't have him. Messy Molly Ringwald looking troublemaker, lol. I did catch a later episode from what appeared to be another season. where Courtney and Matt wanted to be together, but Ashley's return messed with that. Though it looked like Courtney and Matt had some chemistry. Also, Ashley caught flack for being considered "perfect", but I have liked what I have seen of her. I liked how she genuinely tried to help Matt with his drinking problem. And character likes Billy, Olaf, Jake and Janice all seemed to struggle with either not being that mature (in Billy's case), not assertive enough (I Jake's case) or just considered odd/outsiders by many of the other students in (Olaf and Janice's cases)

I remember watching it a little back when it aired on Nickeloden. It was kind of a cheesy teenagish, soapy, show. lol. But I think it was entertaining and appropriate for the type of show it was.. There are some videos of clips (and even full episodes) posted on youtube. Here are a few of them: Honestly, I find this more entertaining than the current version of Bold and Beautiful, lol.

I am very sorry to hear this news. By all accounts he seemed like a very nice guy who was loved my many people. Including many who grew up watching him on 90210. My condolences to his family, friends, co-workers and fans.

Film Awards Thread
The Oscars have been kind of weird for various years now regarding the Best Picture field. Multiples time you'll have films that are heavily favored/nominated/win multiple awards lose out to a film that barely wins any awards. There have been some surprises sneaking in and winning Best Picture. And you also have quite a few films that no one has hardly seen or care to see winning Best Picture.

I think that Green Book winning is another bit of an upset. I had thought that Roma would win it, with all of the awards it has won so far tonight.

Olivia Coleman winning was definitely the biggest upset so far. A lot of people were predicting that Glenn Close would win, and if not her than Lady Gaga. Olivia seemed very shocked that she won, though she was gracious and seems like a nice lady.

Very happy that Blakkklansman and Spike won at least one Oscar tonight for Best Adapted Screenplay. 🙂 It was a long time coming for Spike. Samuel L. Jackson seemed surprised but very happy for Spike and the film.
