That is really who she looks like lol. I saw a couple of episodes where her friends did call her about for being too mean. Though Kelly her friend in the first season was also pretty mean herself. In one of the episodes I saw, Brooke was talking about trying to be nicer. A lot of the first season is on youtube, so I will try and get around to watching all those episodes. Maybe someone will eventually put more of the later seasons up there and it might be revealed whether she got some comeuppance for her behavior or not.

I was looking at some episodes today mainly from the first season, and Brooke was indeed messy, lol. She was just mean and messy because she could be. Like trying to prevent Dylan from getting with Courtney just because she could. In the episodes from season one that I'm watching, she doesn't even seem that interested In Dylan, she just wants to make sure that Courtney doesn't have him. Messy Molly Ringwald looking troublemaker, lol. I did catch a later episode from what appeared to be another season. where Courtney and Matt wanted to be together, but Ashley's return messed with that. Though it looked like Courtney and Matt had some chemistry. Also, Ashley caught flack for being considered "perfect", but I have liked what I have seen of her. I liked how she genuinely tried to help Matt with his drinking problem. And character likes Billy, Olaf, Jake and Janice all seemed to struggle with either not being that mature (in Billy's case), not assertive enough (I Jake's case) or just considered odd/outsiders by many of the other students in (Olaf and Janice's cases)

I remember watching it a little back when it aired on Nickeloden. It was kind of a cheesy teenagish, soapy, show. lol. But I think it was entertaining and appropriate for the type of show it was.. There are some videos of clips (and even full episodes) posted on youtube. Here are a few of them: Honestly, I find this more entertaining than the current version of Bold and Beautiful, lol.

Film Awards Thread
The Oscars have been kind of weird for various years now regarding the Best Picture field. Multiples time you'll have films that are heavily favored/nominated/win multiple awards lose out to a film that barely wins any awards. There have been some surprises sneaking in and winning Best Picture. And you also have quite a few films that no one has hardly seen or care to see winning Best Picture.

I think that Green Book winning is another bit of an upset. I had thought that Roma would win it, with all of the awards it has won so far tonight.

Olivia Coleman winning was definitely the biggest upset so far. A lot of people were predicting that Glenn Close would win, and if not her than Lady Gaga. Olivia seemed very shocked that she won, though she was gracious and seems like a nice lady.

Very happy that Blakkklansman and Spike won at least one Oscar tonight for Best Adapted Screenplay. 🙂 It was a long time coming for Spike. Samuel L. Jackson seemed surprised but very happy for Spike and the film.

Congrats to Mahershala Ali on winning his second Oscar tonight for Green Book. I saw a tweet from Rolling Stone Twitter that said his win tonight is the quickest an actor has won for the same award since Tom Hanks in 1993 and 1994.

It seems like they are letting some of the actors mainly the comedians help push this show along without a host. I liked the intro with Amy, Tina and Maya. And this bit with Melissa McCarthy and Brian Tyree Henry presenting the award for Best Costume Design is amusing as well. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more bits especially from comedians throughout this show. To help keep it entertaining, and not make it feel void without a host.

It was nice seeing Chris Evans help Regina up to the stage as well. He's a gentleman and he is looking good.

I'm watching the red carpet on ABC and this seems like a more relaxed, "down to earth" type of Oscars Red Carpet. Overall, People, including the nominees seem nice and relatively easy going. I wonder how this show will end up faring without a host. I hope that Blakkklansman wins something even if that's only Adam Driver winning for Best Supporting Actor. I also hope that Regina King wins Best Supporting Actress. (I think she will).

It looks like Pink is a theme at this year's Oscars. I saw several ladies in pink gowns including Angela Bassett, and Helen Mirren, who I thought looked nice in their gowns. Helen Mirren in particular looked really nice. IMO, she often looks good. I also liked Kacey Musgraves pink gown.

I am glad that Becky decided to raise the baby on her own, (with some guidance and help from Darlene if needed). I wasn't comfortable with outsiders raising her baby, especially given that she revealed she really did want to have children. I am glad that she didn't end up going through with the surrogacy last season as well. Even more so seeing how vapid Andrea seems as a mother. I like the young actress that plays Mary and her bond with Mark and her family. I think that Geena might come across better if they had her and DJ act more romantically towards each other. It would soften her character a bit. As of right now she's really straight laced and they don't act much like a couple and I think that limits her character. The first lady they had playing Geena was warmer, and more lighthearted. If they had this version of Geena act more like that, that could help her character.

The Politics Thread
Out of the 6 amendments that were on the NC ballot these two were considered the most "dangerous" ones. I saw/heard local advertisements that were criticizing these two possible amendments in particular, and there were even Republicans that were against them. Some of the other six amendments actually didn't sound bad, and I'm not surprised that it looks like NC residents were split on how they voted for the six amendments. (Though, I did think that more people would oppose the voter ID one) . It looks like the majority of people will end up supporting four of the amendments/opposing two. It does look like Anita will win, I believe she has been received favorably as a candidate in the state.

We have paper ballots too. Only one time have I ever voted a different way, (by using a lever), and that was the first time I voted at 18. Whenever I vote by paper ballot I will wait with whoever scans it and we will make sure it's been accepted. I read in that Mother Jones article posted about how some of the electronic voting machines weren't even plugged into a power source. Whoever is working at those sites/overseeing those sites need to do better than that and make sure stuff like that doesn't happen.

I voted this afternoon a little after 2pm in NC with my dad. The polling place we vote at is never really busy. Didn't have any trouble getting in and out. I did hear about some glitches in at least one county in NC, that postponed voting. Hopefully they will get that worked out. I feel bad for people that wait to vote for a long time and then have to leave (because they have to do things like go to work). They need to figure out ways to be more accommodating to voters. Especially in areas where there might be large turnouts.

I thought that tonight's episode wasn't as good as last week's but it was okay. I liked seeing the Conner's Muslim neighbors again, and I liked that Dan/Darlene basically ended up on the same side in regards to the situation with Mark's costumes. I think that the most interesting part was meeting Jackie's new love interest Peter, played by Matthew Broderick. He does fit her (the grey hair helps) and I liked that he was an intellectual, (though unemployed). I think it's interesting that they are saying he's in his 40s, I would have had him play his natural age group, (50's). I also thought it was interesting that Dan didn't like him, and I could see them clashing in the future.

I thought that tonight's episode was good. IMO, It didn't have that bit of an empty void that last week's episode did without Roseanne. I thought that there were several interesting things going on with multiple characters. I really enjoyed Darlene tonight. It was a touching moment when David asked her how she was faring since Roseanne had died. I also enjoyed her interaction/chemistry with Justin Long. I wonder if he will stick around as her new love interest. I hadn't seen anything about him spoiled prior to tonight's episode. I also understood her anger towards Blue, especially in regards to Harris. Speaking of the development with Harris, I wonder if I also thought it was interesting that DJ's wife didn't seem to care for David. She definitely has a bit of a no nonsense attitude. I did like that she supported Darlene. And I liked seeing Becky work with Dan, though I do believe that her drinking will get worse.

I think he might do better once he's interacting more with his wife and child. I had learned that he's married with kids in real life, so maybe he can tap into his experience from that and use it with his tv family. I can think of some examples of actors (including soap ones), where they weren't that good, but they shined in scenes with kids, because they were parents in real life. Maybe something like that will happen with DJ, in storylines with his child and his wife. I like Michael, so I hope that DJ gets some solid storylines, and that he ends up doing okay with them.
