This Is Us: Discussion Thread
Sterling K. Brown just won Outstanding Leading Actor in a Drama Series for "This is Us". I am very happy for him. He does a wonderful job in this role, and I think this Emmy is well deserved. I am looking forward to Season 2 of this show.

I am glad that the citizens of Charlottesville chased away Jason Kessler. He is an evil racist coward, who can't take getting his comeuppance for the damage he has helped caused. Jason, Richard Spencer and others from this racist group need to be held accountable for the destruction they have caused. I hope they get chased all the way out of town.Their views and actions are disgusting and so is them infiltrating Charlottesville. Unite the Right thought they could try and take over in that smaller community but I am glad they are learning otherwise.

I read that Third Party Candidates like Gary Johnson got over 266,000 votes in FL. That is more than the difference of votes between Hillary and Donald (around 134,000). Those votes could definitely have made a difference.

I am glad to see that Hilary is now leading in NC. I'm from there and went to vote with my dad this morning. Hardly anybody was at our voting site. I wonder how the turnout will end up being in the state(and also other states).

Here are some harsh comments that former Speaker of the House John Boehner said about Ted Cruz recently: http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2016/04/28/boehner-cruz-is-lucifer-in-the-flesh.html?via=twitter_page LOL. I am not surprised at all that Boehner feels this way that way about Cruz. Cruz orchestrated the government shutdown and sat back like a weasel while Boehner took a ton of heat for that. He let the bus run right over Boehner when that happened.

There really are a lot of hypocrites in that party. It is a interesting mess lol. Here is some more information regarding this situation. One of Ted Cruz's alleged mistress Katrina Pierson, (the spokesperson for Trump) was saying a few days ago, how she wanted to "spill the beans" on Ted's wife Heidi. Here's some stuff she said regarding Heid's involvement in politics and career. http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/274308-trump-aide-fulfills-threat-to-spill-the-beans-on-heidi She's mentioning all of these things about Heidi, yet she may have been sleeping with Heidi's husband. Ted may have told her some of these things when they may have been sleeping together. It looks like Katrina is the ones (along with the other mistresses) that someone spilled the beans on. Ted has now come out and said this story isn't true and is blaming it on Trump. I actually don't think that Trump really has anything to do with this leak. I read reports that said that Rubio's camp was initially responsible for trying to get this story out, weeks ago. I am definitely interested in seeing how this plays out and how it will affect the election. If it snowballs enough, it could cause Cruz to drop out before Trump or even Kasich.

It looks like at least some of this Cruz story is true. It's being reported by multiple sites that some news outlets learned this information earlier but chose not to post it. A Washington Times journalist said that they can confirm that he cheated with at least two mistresses and a journalist from Breibart said he was "scooped". Allum Bokari from Breibart was hinting back at this in February. People also have identified three of the women who were mentioned in the National Enquirer article. One of them is a spokesperson for Trump and made her Instagram private last night after this news broke. She just tweeted that the claims about her and Ted are not true. Another one works for Carly Fiorna, which is also interesting because back in July of 2015 a Ted Cruz Super PAC donated $500,000 to Carly's campaign. I think this news could very well be true. The National Enquirer may be a tabloid, but they have been correct about some pretty big scoops in the past. I have long felt that Ted Cruz is not a trustworthy person and I still believe he's worse than Trump. http://www.conservativeoutfitters.com/blogs/news/94574273-8-things-you-need-to-know-about-ted-cruzs-sex-scandal

They have shown a blueprint on how to deal with him. Just bring up all the stuff he has changed his mind on and attack him. I do think that a lot of times he says what he wants people to hear at any given moment. But I also think he is actually willing to compromise on some things and isn't as stringent on some issues like social security, and planned parenthood, healthcare. But I think one of the biggest reasons he constantly changes his minds on issues, is he really wants to appeal to as many people in the Republican party. I think he is trying to sound "tougher" on issues, to try and present himself as an ideal Republican candidate. He hasn't presented himself like someone like Ted Cruz has, in a "very far right, hard-nosed, I am sticking completely to my guns and have been since the beginning type of way." Trump constantly changing his opinion on several issues, has finally caught up to him tonight. I actually don't think he sounds bad on issues like the trade/business issues, but he was hurting tonight when they were talking about different policies, including foreign policy. I thought that John Kasich came off the best during tonight's debate, but I'm not sure it may make that much difference. I think that the race may be too far gone, for him to catch up and gain enough support to really make a big difference for him. I still don't care for Ted Cruz, and think he is the worst candidate left. I just don't find really much about him that is sincere, and I think if he was president he would really hurt a lot of groups of people. I think that others including Trump would accomplish more positive things if there were elected than Cruz would.

They were really going at Donald tonight. He did seem flustered during tonight's debate at times, when Rubio/Cruz were taking turns attacking him. Then Fox showed the video of him constantly changing his views interview in some cases, within days of each other. They were really trying to take him down.

Yeah, in the end all it really is going to do is help Hillary win the presidency, which I am fine with, lol. I don't see Romney or any third party securing enough votes to take the presidency from both Donald and Hillary. Plus, if Mitt and other republicans deny Trump the nomination like they are thinking about doing, that is going to anger a lot of people who intend to vote for Trump. They were discussing tonight on CNN how people are turning out in record numbers due to him, and if they feel like Mitt/the other republicans are trying to oust him, they may turn away from the Republican party. So Mitt's plans could backfire on the party in that way. But maybe he and some of the other republicans who are willing to bite that bullet. They may come to the conclusion in the end it's better to have Hillary as president (even though they may not say this aloud) than to have Trump win it. Maybe they are willing for this to happen and intend to regroup and try and take back the presidency after her first term concludes.

This is all very interesting. Trump needs 1,237 delegates to get the nomination and Mitt's strategy of everyone voting for other candidates to prevent this from happening is interesting and could work. I am watching CNN now and the commentators mentioned that Mitt and his advisors are exploring trying to block Trump at the convention and deny him the nomination. They also discussed the possibility of Mitt running as a third candidate to take away some votes from Trump. If that happened though that would hurt Trump, but I think that could also help Hillary. I don't see enough people voting for Mitt or someone else as a third candidate to help that person become president. But I guess that maybe Mitt's and other republicans like him main goal is or may end up being to stop Trump at all costs. Even if that may mean helping Hillary win the presidency.

I saw it. I'm in the anyone but Trump side of this fence, but it was funny. Q- My husband agrees with you that Cruz is worse than Trump. I actually agree that Trump doesn't believe some of what he's saying. He fell into this authoritarian movement, but I don't think that makes him any less dangerous. I also think that Cruz is worse than Trump. I think that it's unfortunate that someone who helped orchestrate a government shutdown and was willing to let it go on as long as possible to suit his agenda/views, has as much support as he does. Cruz was a driving force behind that and was willing to let several groups of people suffer financially, including very vulnerable groups of people. It seems like a lot of the country has forgotten that though. I think he should be one of the fewest vote getters in this whole race. I wish Cruz would have been one of the first people to drop out of the race. I would have rather seen him go before Christie, and I don't care for Christie and think he can be abrasive. A fear I have is that once Rubio drops out, he may have enough supporters to help Cruz close the gap on Trump. That and maybe some assistance from a lot other Republicans who don't like Trump, could make things a lot closer between those two. Trump is not my ideal presidential candidate, but I would hate to see Cruz get the Republican nomination. I think he would be the worst president we have to date. If by some chance he is nominated, I hope Hillary beats him out.

I thought Dole's main emphasis was getting rid of Cruz (politically speaking). Speaking of Cruz, his inherent nastiness is taking an increasingly heavy toll on his campaign. This should have been his year, in many ways, and he's been running for President as long as Marco has. He's just so smarmy, unpleasant, and smug that it's easy to believe the worst of him (his wife going around talking about how with Ted you see the face of God, or whatever, and his father being a nutjob doesn't help). http://www.politico.com/story/2016/02/ted-cruz-marco-rubio-2016-219645 I agree. I find Ted Cruz to be unlikeable and very untrustworthy. I don't find him to be the least sincere. I think that he is the worst person left on the Republican side. LMAO at Carson: "Can someone attack me"?…..LOL….he is being ignored once again…. I literally laughed at loud after he said that. He really is being ignored, the moderators skipped over him regarding multiple questions. I have forgotten he was in this debate half the time it has been going on.

Fuller House
I am late to commenting on this thread, but I did like the trailer and think that the cast still looks good. They have aged well, especially the women. I think that the women look good. The men look decent as well. John Stamos continues to age well. I am glad that they didn’t make DJ pregnant and widowed, like it was originally reported. I think that would have been overkill. I wouldn’t have even given her a small baby like they did. Just let her have two or three kids that are at least school age. But I guess they wanted to mirror it as close as possible to the original. Regarding Michelle, not being around, I don’t think they need to keep bringing that up. They shouldn’t try to pressure the Olsens or anything. Just acknowledge Michelle from time to time and keep the door open for the Olsen twins. I remember reading an interview with Ashley where it kind of seemed like she wouldn’t completely rule out an appearance on the show. But that the timing isn’t right for her right now. Maybe later on she might make an appearance on the show if it’s successful. The show can survive without Michelle, above all it is about family. She got a lot of attention towards the end of its run when the Olsen’s blew up, but it’s not like they are doing a Family Matters revival without Urkel, whose character ended up basically taking over that show. They’ll be fine without Michelle.

I'm from NC, did my early voting Saturday, and I am very disappointed that Kay Hagan lost to Thom Tillis. I had figured it would end up being close ,but had hoped that she would pull out the win. Now that she has lost I am very concerned and worried about the future of NC. This state is already struggling a lot financially, and has issues in many areas, I think that the election of Thom Tillis to the Senate could make things far worse for the state. There are many important things and areas, that he has cut funding in (like education, including passing policies that have hurt teachers and college students) Plus he's made pretty harsh comments/has harsh views against the poor, and more vulnerable groups of people. There is a very long list of important issues he's pushed for policies against, that have had big impact on the people of NC. I think that him being elected to the Senate could end up being pretty detrimental for the state of NC. I know that a lot of people are angry at the Democrats and the leadership of this country and wanted a change, but I wonder how many of them really have thought things through before they cast their vote. It definitely feels like some people just went on a knee jerk reaction. I feel like states like NC, who are already bad off in several ways, are going to suffer even more now, especially economically. I think that some people haven't thought about how bad things could end up getting in at least some of these states, like NC.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians
I like this show and I either like or don't mind most of the family members. The ones I really don't care for are Rob and Kylie. IMO, Rob and Kylie are both spoiled and I don't like the way that Rob acts a lot of the time. He doesn't seem very motivated to do anything for himself. I don't like the way he verbally attacks people (like Scott) when they achieve any sort of success. He likes to hit below the belt when he verbally insults people. At times, I haven't cared much for Kris or Kourtney and I'm kind of indifferent to Lamar, but other than that I like/don't mind most of the family. Including Kim, (who I like), Khloe, Kendall, Bruce, and Scott. I really enjoy Mason, he seems like a great kid. I think that a lot of times Kim is self-absorbed but I still like her and I think that she cares about her family.

I heard he had called the police several times on people (mostly black men) in recent months. I heard one report on the news that he called the police on a black seven year old boy, because the seven year old looked suspicious. This man needs to be arrested. I agree with Eric83 that not all black youth wear sagging pants, and I don't think there's anything wrong with hoodies. Plus I heard it was raining that night, and if so, it makes even more sense that Trayvon was wearing a hoodie. I am glad that this case is getting national attention, this type of stuff has got to stop. I actually think that one of the reasons why it is getting so much attention is because Trayvon doesn't look like a "thug" or "criminal" or any or other bad stereotype that some people like to put black people into. He looks like an innocent looking baby faced teenager and that resonates with a lot of people including people that aren't black. His parents seem like decent people too. This doesn't seem like a child that was a bad person or came from a rough background. He looks like he could be a lot of people's child, brother, nephew, cousin, child's best friend etc. It even reminds a lot of non black people of their own kids. Kids who like things like Skittles and Ice-T. I've seen multiple white people say he reminds them of their own children. It's not just black people that feel that way about him. I think that this is one of the biggest reasons why this case is getting so much attention. You can't go around killing teens for being black (and/or even if you take race out of it), for being teens. And because you think someone looks suspicious. Lots of teens (and adults) wear hoodies not just black ones. I don't think that Geraldo should have said what he said. He should have known he would go under fire for that. Newt just needs to hush, trying to create a problem with Obama's comments about Trayvon where there isn't one. Also I actually think that if President Obama had a son he might would have looked like Trayvon. IMO, Trayvon's skin tone does kind of look like Michelle's and Sasha's and his ears are similar to the presidents. And the structure of his cheeks kind of resembles some of the first family members. With the side by side pictures of the two, yes I actually could see Obama having a son that looks like that. But nonetheless Newt's comments about Obama's were ridiculous and unneccessary. I don't know what will end up happening to George Zimmerman, but I think he will end up paying for this somehow. Even if he doesn't end up getting convicted. At least this case shines light on big problems that needs to be dealt with like the profiling/stereotyping of certain racial groups in this country.)

Whitney Houston dead at 48!
Did anyone else watch Dr. Drew tonight? He had on Whitney's ex sister in law (Bobby's sister) and some of her and Bobby's nephews. The former sister-in-law stated that she thought Ray J supplied Whitney with drugs and that Whitney told her that Ray J wasn't really anything to her. She said that Whitney said they weren't romantically involved. The sister-in-law and nephews also said that they suspected foul play and that the people around Bobby Kristina, had her phone number changed and they couldn't really contact her like they wanted. The sister-in-law also said that when she first heard that Whitney had died, she automatically thought it was because of cocaine. And even said something to the effect of someone gave Whitney a "bad bag". The sister-in-law also said that Whitney never liked to use public tubs because she thought they were dirty and how her and the sister-in-law used to joke about that. She said she thought it was strange how Whitney was found in the tub. I think that someone probably did get rid of the cocaine in the room, before the cops got there.
