  1. Kevin Stapleton was the worst Kevin. That means worse than everyone else.
  2. I thought the worst Kevin was Kevin Stapleton. I thought that the worst Cassie was Holly Gagnier. Ms. Cram was excellent, and Ms. Hadad was an excellent replacement.
  3. "According to WLS, The Doctors will debut on September 29th. They'll start from 1967, the year the show transitioned to color." I thought that NBC was the full-color network long before 1969. Since the show was taped inside the main NBC home, I would have thought that it was be one of the first shows broadcast in color.
  4. I enjoyed seeing Devon in the clip above! She was one of my favorite characters on the show.
  5. BKuzak, the impregnation of Jessica by her step-brother was extremely "icky" and distasteful. Her father and his mother were married to one another. Does it really matter to you how long the marriage lasted or was to last? I doubt it or that you would want such carrying-ons in your own family. I could be wrong, but I think that, under those circumstances, you would feel objection. And the fact that liquor was involved brings to light the dangers of under-age drinking. That it happened was truly regretful.
  6. I cringed when Jessica (still being played by Erin Torpey) was impregnated by her step-brother.
  7. Times Free Press July 18, 2014 The Chattanooga-based TV conglomerate that syndicates and broadcasts shows across the U.S. moved one step closer to the auction block on Thursday, as attorneys for Luken Communications argued successfully in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Chattanooga that they be allowed to sell the company built by businessman Henry Luken. Luken Communications, which operates a handful of broadcast TV networks as well as a chain of low-power TV stations across the country, is locked in legal combat with Randy Rice, a bankruptcy trustee from Arkansas who won an unprecedented $65.9 million verdict against the company for what a jury found was a "constructively fraudulent transfer." Rice said that when Luken bought the company from Equity Media, he didn't pay a fair price for the business. Luken paid $18.5 million for the struggling business, which had never made money. But Rice convinced a jury that it was worth much more than that -- as much as $115.8 million according to one estimate -- and that Luken had used his influence as a former Equity Media board member to negotiate a lower price. Tom Ray, an attorney representing Luken Communications during its Chapter 11 bankruptcy, called the company's current predicament the result of a "runaway jury," and that the verdict had taken everyone by surprise. "This is not the fault of the debtor," Ray said. "They haven't run up these huge debts." The passage of time has not supported the rosy estimates put forth in Equity Media's Arkansas bankruptcy, according to court filings made public in Chattanooga. Though Luken has since expanded the size and scope of the TV business, it still loses money every month, and has assets of $20 million versus liabilities of $22 million, not including Rice's judgment against it. Henry Luken and partner Forrest Preston, who are partners on the venture, agreed to put up $2 million as a stalking horse bid to get the auction moving, if creditors approve a plan to sell the company and distribute those proceeds for pennies on the dollar. "If there is no sale, then we're looking at a Chapter 7 [liquidation]," Ray said. "Obviously, Luken communications does not have the ability to pay, nor will it pay a $65 million judgment." Rice, the biggest creditor in Luken Communications' bankruptcy and the reason the company sought bankruptcy protection, has expressed interest in buying the company with the goal of running it profitably. "We feel like we may get it to be able to get it running well enough to where we can sell it for a substantial amount of money as a going concern," Rice has said. "As it is right now, the debtor has not been successful." The next hearing is scheduled at 9 a.m. Sept. 8 to determine whether creditors will accept the plan to sell the company. Still up for debate is how the various creditors, including Rice, will be classified, and whether they will be paid in whole or in part when the sale concludes. In the meantime, Luken and Preston have put up an additional $400,000 in debtor-in-possession financing to carry the company through the sale. The Luken networks include RetroTV, The Nashville Network, MyCarTV, Frost Great Outdoors (FGO), TUFF TV, PBJ and My Family TV.
  8. James Lipton did write The Edge of Night. However, he was replaced by the late Lou Schofield, who was wonderful. I understand, though, that Schofield had an affair with Margaret DePriest. She was an actress on The Edge of Night, then she became a writer. Together, Schofield and DePriest created Where the Heart Is.
  9. I mentioned Kathleen Tolan (in between Lois Kibbee and Michael Comforti). I think you just overlooked her name.
  10. Actor Ed Nelson, who had been on the primetime Peyton Place earlier, has passed away.
  11. I am hearing that actor Charles Keating (Dr. Damon Lazarre) has passed away.
  12. I think that he chose to leave due after having been on the show for a pretty lengthy run. I guess that he wanted to audition for primetimes shows and movies. I remember when he returned. When he was written show (his second departure), he became bitter toward the show.
  13. Oft times, a show's first headwriter is credited as being the co-creator of the shows. Ms. Nixon is credited as a co-creator of Search for Tomorrow, but my understanding was that the show was created by Roy Winsor and written by Agnes Eckert (Nixon).
  14. It is true that she had been engaged to Nick, her former father-in-law and friend to her mother. When he called off the engagement, she strongly considered sueing him for alienation of affection. She had also been married to Dr. Jeff Martin and Phillip Brent. It was only after the problematic situation with Nick was over that she and Tom fell in love with one another. They had a wonderful, romantic courtship and honeymoon in St. Croix. Erica did not try to get back into modeling. She wanted to be a successful businesswoman and even opened a disco in the back to Tom's Goal Post restaurant. After that was unsuccessful, she was contacted by the Brandon Kingsley Agency and asked to come to New York. It was only then that her career there was continued. It was probably her desire to be successful in business that she did not want to be a mother. She took birth control pills against Tom's church-based opposition. She had undergone a tragic miscarriage when she was married to Phillip Brent, and she did not want to be hurt unnecessarily. All of her later shortened relationships with men after her divorce from Tom (Adam, Gilles, Dimitri, Jackson, Travis, Mike, etc.) show, to me, that she would probably never be able to recreate the love that she had for Tom.
  15. Ellabell, I appreciate your opinion. However, I still contend that Tom and Erica belonged together and that Tom was the true love of Erica. I think that Gilles was intended to be paired with Erica, but, for some reason, he was later paired with Brooke. I think that Matt was supposed to be with Brooke, but then they put him with Nina.
  16. Here are some of the actors and actresses who became writers prior to the time that Millee Taggart and Pam Long became writers: Irna Phillips and Agnes Nixon were both actresses. Ms. Phillips played a role on one of her radio serials. Ms. Nixon was never a professional actress, but she had studied acting in college. James Lipton (The Guiding Light) John Baruff and David Lasan (The Guiding Light) Margaret DePriest (The Edge of Night) Richard Holland (The Guiding Light, As the World Turns) Bethel Leslie (The Doctors) Ian Wolfe (Somerset) Ralph Ellis (Our Five Daughters) Don Hastings (The Edge of Night, As the World Turns) Kenneth Harvey (Search for Tomorrow) Mary K. Wells (As the World Turns, The Brighter Day, The Edge of Night, The Secret Storm, the serial Return to Peyton Place) Clarice Blackburn (The Doctors, Dark Shadows, Love of Life, As the World Turns) Ellen Holly (One Life to Live) Gillian Spencer (The Secret Storm, The Edge of Night, The Guiding Light, One Life to Live, As the World Turns, All My Children) Nancy Franklin (The Doctors) Douglas Marland (The Brighter Day, As the World Turns) Gary Tomlin (Search for Tomorrow, Another World) Roni Dengle (Another World, Dark Shadows) Michael Zaslow (Search for Tomorrow, Love Is a Many Splendored Thing, The Guiding Light, One Life to Live) Then, when Millee Taggart (The Edge of Night, One Life to Live, Search for Tomorrow) became a writer, these followed her: Megan McTavish (Texas, The Guiding Light) Mary Pat Gleason (Texas) Roger Newman and Frances Newman (The Guiding Light) Ellen Weston (The Guiding Light, Another World) Michael Zaslow (Search for Tomorrow, Love Is a Many Splendored Thing, The Guiding Light, One Life to Live) Meg Bennett (Love of Life, Search for Tomorrow) Stephanie Braxton (Love Is a Many Splendored Thing, The Secret Storm, All My Children, The Edge of Night) Richard Baccus (Another World, Ryan's Hope) Pamela Long (Long-Hammer)(Texas) Jay Hammer (Texas, The Guiding Light) Sofia Landon Geier (Another World, The Guiding Light) David Cherrill (As the World Turns) Courtney Simon (Search for Tomorrow, As the World Turns, All My Children) Tom Wiggin (As the World Turns, One Life to Live) Judy Pace (One Life to Live) Trent Jones (Ryan's Hope) David Snell (One Life to Live, The Edge of Night) Judy Lewis (Kitty Foyle, The Secret Storm) Lois Kibbee (The Edge of Night, Somerset, One Life to Live) Kathleen Tolan (Ryan's Hope) Michael Comforti (The Guiding Light, The Edge of Night) Geraldine Court (The Doctors, Another World, The Guiding Light, All My Children) Louise Shaffer (Search for Tomorrow, Where the Heart Is, The Edge of Night, Ryan's Hope, All My Children) John Loprieno (Search for Tomorrow, One Life to Live) Marie Masters (Love of Life, As the World Turns, One Life to Live) Lewis Arlt (Search for Tomorrow, Another World) Francesca James (One Life to Live, All My Children) Taylor Miller (All My Children, Another World) Ellen Wheeler (Another World, All My Children) Richard Shoberg (Somerset, The Edge of Night, All My Children) Glenn Turman (primetime serial Peyton Place) Elizabeth Harrower James Houghton I also think that maybe Keith Charles (The Edge of Night, The Secret Storm, Where the Heart Is, Love of Life, The Guiding Light, One Life to Live, Ryan's Hope) may have written for a while.
  17. I think that Tom Cudahy was the love of Erica's life.
  18. Ellen killed Frannie Brennan when Frannie (who had fallen in love with her employer David) threatened to tell Dan that he was actually the son of Ellen unless Ellen would refuse to marry David. Ellen confessed to the killing. She refused to say anything else because she did not want the truth to be known.
  19. I watched the storyline, but I never understood all that much about it. The actor who later played Rocky the chauffer on Another World was involved in the storyline someway. And Ken Kervichal also played a character who was involved.
  20. I think that Rafe was heading toward attraction of a policewoman for a while. She may have been the older sister of Billie Burrows (Lisa Peluso). They dropped this, maybe because they had decided to bring back Delilah. Delilah had been a schemer. However, she went into business with the horrid Gabrielle, who stole the partnership from Delilah. The business had been built by Delilah, and that was due to her talent.
  21. I wonder if the network had hired Harding Lemay if he could have made the show good enough with good enough ratings to have saved the show - at least for a while.
  22. I HATED Eileen Heckhart (rest her soul) on One Life to Live. She had played the mother of Allison Perkins in the 1980s, and, upon hearing that she would be on a soap opera, I thought that she would be good. But, she did a terrible job. I was quite surprised when the show hired her to play a second role when she had been so horrible as Mrs. Perkins. She was just as bad as Wilma. Elaine Stritch, who replaced her, was truly wonderful! That being said, the creator of The Five Mrs. Buchanans was quoted as saying that she was a fan and viewer of One Life to Live and had named the Buchanan family as an homage to Asa Buchanan.
  23. I liked The Chateau and The Goal Post. I am not sure why the show had Tom open a second place (Pinache). I also liked McKay's, but I actually preferred the Hospital Cafeteria. I liked The Boutique. I also LOVED the Chinese restaurant that Henry's family operated. I am sorry that the character did not catch on, because I feel that the show intended for that to be a regular featured set. (And I have never even eaten Chinese food.) I have forgotten the history of Stuart's art gallery. Did Jeremy own it first? I never cared for The Serving Spoon or The Glamorama.
  24. The legendary Elaine Stritch, who played Mrs. DeGroot on The Edge of Night, has passed away at the age of 89.
  25. The legendary Elaine Stritch, who was the second actress to play the mother of Mortimer on One Life to Live, has passed away at the age of 89.
