  1. David Pendleton, who played Gil on The Guiding Light (husband of Olivia Cole's character) will appear on The Hunt, a CNN series this Sunday evening (August 9). He will be playing a wicked guru.
  2. David Pendleton, who played Julius Newcomb (who, I think was Dr. Julius Newcomb) on The Edge of Night will appearing Sunday evening on The Hunt, which airs on CNN. He will play an evil guru on the show.
  3. David Pendleton, who originated the role of Dr. Russ Anderson, is to appear Sunday night on CNN's The Hunt. He will be playing a wicked guru on the show.
  4. The two actress who I remember as Lisa Britten are Diane Dell and Judy Safran. Diane Dell played the role first and was playing it during the Sean Childrers storyline. Judy Safran, who played the role later, seemed younger to me than Diane Dell. Judy Safran had completed a major role on Love Is a Many Splendored Thing (Maria), and I think that the network was happy with her work. So, as Stephanie Braxton had been cast previously, she was cast as Lisa.
  5. Barbara Rodell also appeared on One Life to Live. I have it on tape somewhere. She played a real estate agent for Blair and Todd.
  6. Isn't Toni Darney (substitute Susan) the actress who played Frannie Brennan on As the World Turns? If so, she also played a role on Search for Tomorrow after she had left the As the World Turns cast.
  7. Who played Mrs. Post?
  8. Mr. Vendig wrote and created Three Steps to Heaven at some point (1953?) for television. He also wrote Perry Mason for radio at some point. The Edge of Night premiered in April 1956.
  9. Yes, I think that he was the only person in the cast who had appeared on a soap opera. I think that the actress who played the owner of the station may have appeared on a soap opera later - after this show. But I may be confusing her with a look-alike actress. In between The Secret Storm and WKRP, Gary Sandy appeared on a primetime syndicated show called All That Glitters. Louise Shaffer (The Edge of Night, Where the Heart Is, Search for Tomorrow, All My Children, etc.) and Lois Nettleton (The Brighter Day) were also in the cast. I would love to see an episode. It did not air in the locality where I live.
  10. There was a character played Lois, who was the servant of Victoria. I think that she remained employed in Llanfair after Mitch Lawrence gained control in order to spy on Mitch for Victoria. What actress played Lois? Whoever she was, she resembled Terry Crawford (Beth on Dark Shadows) to me. I thought that it was Terry Crawford at first, but I have been told that the same actress did not appear on both of these shows.
  11. If I could ask her anything, I would ask her about working on the soap opera with film stars John Beal (who, as Jim, probably had scenes with Pat) and Ann Sheridan (who, as Kathryn Corning, probably did not). I would like to know especially how they felt about working on daytime television in a part of the industry that was then down upon and also if they had advise for the young performers who co-starred with them.
  12. Doris Quinlan had begun on NBC on Young Doctor Malone. She later worked at Another World. I wonder if she was the first producer of Another World. I am thinking that Mary Harris may have been.
  13. No, this was his third time to be on a soap opera (although I think that he appeared in a small role on Another World - I may be wrong about that). He was Hank Barton #2 or #3 on As the World Turns. The great Don Scardino had created the role. Then either he or Paul Falzone became Hank #2. (I think that #2 was Mr. Falzone and #3 was Mr. Sandy.) He then was hired to play Sandy Buchanan (younger brother of Jessica Buchanan) on Somerset. I don't think that he was in the original cast, but he was hired soon afterward. Most of the scenes that he had that I remember paired him with Pamela Toll (Pammy Davis). Both characters were schemers. This role on The Secret Storm was the third for Mr. Sandy.
  14. Ursulla had a son, and he was attracted to Belle's new ward Joanna Morrison. Am I correct in thinking that Audrey Landers (Joanna #1) won some type of talent competition and that one of her prizes was a contract on one of the CBS soap operas? I am thinking that she sang on the show, also. Did she later sing on Somerset?
  15. I think that Andrew Robinson was the SECOND Frank.
  16. At the same time that Mr. Higgins, Ms. Catlin, and Mr. Fairman left the show, Julia Barr was also being written off. She soon appeared as Brooke #2 on All My Children.
  17. Had Mr. Gussman succeeded Irving Vendig as the headwriter?
  18. That was also Carol Potter of One Life to Live in the Cuisenart commercial that followed.
  19. Yes, that is Ann Williams. What year was this?
  20. Nick Charles was also on a lot of soap operas. He played two roles on The Secret Storm, and Nicolas Coster played two roles on As the World Turns (and played one of those characters on both As the World Turns and the primetime serial Our Private World).
  21. I have been re-watching the primetime serial Peyton Place. (Performers from All My Children who appeared on the show were Ruth Warrick, David Canary, and Barbara Rush.) Last night, I had gotten to episode 10. I was very surprised that a woman at the Founders' Day festivities spoke to Julie (Casey Adams). I am sure that this woman was played by actress Eileen Herlie (Myrtil Lum Fargate on All My Children and Loving).
  22. The Belle/Amy feud was fascinating. It equals that of Victoria and Dorian on One Life to Live, although it did not last as many years. I doubt that the scenes are available, but the Labor Day episode on which Robin died was really something for daytime television. It is the only scene that I remember from The Secret Storm that was filmed on location. (Maybe some of the racing of Robert Landers was shot on location, but I don't remember.) Jada Rowland attempted to save Robin from drowning. It was quite emotional also.
  23. Jason Kincaid was not good on All My Children, either. However, I think that his role on that show better suited him that did Tom Hughes.
  24. A HUGE mystery to me is what happened to actress Leigh Lassen and her husband (They later divorced.) Terry Logan.
