  1. Is James Naughton related to the actor who played Gil on All My Children and Brian on The Edge of Night? I have been thinking for many years that they are related (possibly brothers)?
  2. I have been familiar with the late Art Wallace for many years. I knew that he had created the storylines for Dark Shadows and had written (and later co-written that show with Frances Swan) during the first year. I also knew that he had served as a storyline consultant for All My Children in the 1980s. I had NOT known, though, that All My Children writer Elizabeth Wallace was his wife.
  3. I thought that the original Jerry Ames on The Secret Storm was Robert Morse.
  4. Director Melvin Bernhardt, better known as a director of Another World and One Life to Live, also directed episodes of All My Children. He passed away on Saturday.
  5. Director Melvin Bernhardt, who was Emmy nominated for his direction of Another World, passed away on Saturday.
  6. Melvin Bernhardt, who was nominated for an Emmy award in direction for his work on One Life to Live, passed away on Saturday.
  7. Slick, I read that he wrote The Secret Storm.
  8. Actor John McConnell, who played the constable in the early episodes of Dark Shadows, has passed away at the age of 91. He also had roles on The Edge of Night, The Secret Storm, Love of Life, and the title role on Young Doctor Malone.
  9. I remember the name Bill Hunt. I am thinking that he played a bartender who almost always had two customers. One was played by Ed Bryce (who had left The Guiding Light). He was seen often during the run of Law and Order as a criminal lawyer. On both Somerset and Law and Order, he wore a mustache. The bartender role (Bill, I think, was is name) was one of those few-days-only roles that developed into a long stretch.
  10. JOSEPH DALY Obituary Guest Book "RIP Joseph Daly - one of the best teachers I ever had. You..."- Sharon Wajswol View Sign DALY--Joseph, April 7, 1930 - August 8, 2015. Husband, father, actor, teacher. Memorial Services in New Jersey August 15; in NYC August 23 at Producers' Club. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/nytimes/obituary.aspx?pid=175491954#sthash.kaVGXENz.dpuf
  11. Actor Joseph Daly, who played Senator Robert Douglas Jaffee on Hidden Faces, died on August 8, 2015. If I locate his obituary, I will post it here.
  12. Alice Haining would have been the PERFECT Hillary Wilson on All My Children. Maybe it was the actress herself who choose the type of roles for which she auditioned or maybe it was the casting directors' faults. but she was usually miscast. She was capable of playing the perfect ingénue.
  13. I remember when Liza and Nina were rivals over Cliff. However, I had forgotten that the storyline had begun while Marcy Walker was still playing Liza. I only remember that Alice Haining (a great actress who was usually miscast on television) had the scenes. I am not sure when Ms. Walker vacated the role of Liza for the first time. I know that it was in 1984, but I mean that I don't the exact month. The character of Greg Nelson had two older sisters. One of them (along with their family) should have moved back to Pine Valley around this time to comfort the new widower Greg. These new characters would have helped the show's storylines, in my opinion. I loved Enid, and these additions would have given her a lot more chances to intrude in her children's lives.
  14. I think that Robert Cenadella was wonderful and that he is one of the great underrated writing talents of soap opera. I did not view his work on Another World, but his Somerset was brilliant (in my opinion - although there was too much crossover for my taste).
  15. Originally, Trevor's last name was spelled one way in the credits then another way in the credits for the bulk of his run.
  16. I really enjoyed Philip MacHale when he played Tony Lord #2 on One Life to Life. I wonder why he left the show. If seemed that when he left was a good time to write him off, but the show brought back the character with a new actor (Chip Luccia) playing him and then killed the character. Later, when Tony was shown in Heaven, Mr. MacHale was playing him. After he left One Life to Life, he did not seem to have much of an acting career. That is why I am wondering if he chose to leave or not. The only time outside Somerset or One Life to Live has been a commercial for a music CD collection.

  20. Who were the show's headwriter and executive producer at the time that Rene (Phyllis Newman) was introduced?
  21. I did not know that Ms. Catlin had appeared in this film. I was only familiar with her work in the film Spitfire Grill. I also had no idea that Deborah Solomon had acted since she left the cast of All My Children. She previously had been on As the World Turns on two different occasions.
  22. Lela Swift, who directed and, later, produced produced Dark Shadows, has passed away.
  23. Director Lela Swift, who directed Ryan's Hope and received four Emmy Award nominations for doing so, has passed away.
  24. Did you list that Francesca James appeared on The Secret Storm? Also, I only recently remembered that Jane Manning (who I knew had been on Love of Life and Love Is a Many Splendored Thing) had appeared on Another World as a nurse. This was during the time that Marianne Randolph had her abortion, and Ms. Manning played a care-giving nurse.
  25. Actor David Pendleton, who was the second actor to play Ed Hall (during the time that Al Freeman, Jr. was appearing on primetime's Hot l Baltimore) will be seen this Sunday evening (August 9) as a wicked guru on CNN's The Hunt.
