  1. John Getz (mentioned above) was an actor on Another World who had left daytime television. I never knew that he had any interest in television producing or any connection with Search for Tomorrow.
  2. Was John Glover nominated for a Daytime Enemy for his Search for Tomorrow role (Vargas)?
  3. Hal had drug shipments coming into The Boutique. I am thinking that his ex-wife Kitty was the owner then of The Boutique. These drug shipments were amid shipments of soap. I think that maybe Claudette was involved in the drug smuggling also. I cannot remember for sure, but I think that she too worked at The Boutique.
  4. This may be an easy trivia question, but what male and female performers who appeared on One Life to Live (opposite each other) had appeared in a movie together earlier?
  5. also: June Graham Beverly Owen (if you haven's list her; I don't think that you have).
  6. Tonight I read that Robin Strasser (The Secret Storm; Another World; All My Children; One Life to Live) had auditioned for a role on Dark Shadows. She did not get this role, and I think that it was before her Another World role. Does anyone know for which role she was auditioning?
  7. I loved Arlene Dahl (who recently had her 93rd birthday) on One Life to Live! I think that of the stars who came to daytime television, her contribution to One Life to Live was the very best! (I especially hated Eileen Heckhart as Ruth Perkins - and, later, the show hired and dismissed her in the role of Mrs. Bourne.) This has nothing to do with the above, but I just learned that actor Joshua Cox (one of the many actors to play Dr. Danny Woleck - he was originally hired to play Jamie Sanders, but Paul Rauch told them to switch roles at the last minute) has changed his stage name to Josh Coxx. I think that sounds similar to some of the pornographic actors. One more comment: John Gibson appeared in the movie The Warriors. One of the stars of that film, Roger Hill, later came to One Life to Live and played Roger Lownes, the football player for Llanview football team (which I was sure that Asa owned) and was in love with Carla.
  8. It was the Stewart family (David and Betty) who changed Jimmy's name to Danny.
  9. Actress and director Patricia Benoit (Betty Stewart on As the World Turns) has passed away. She was also the star of Today is Ours. Patricia Benoit, Wally Cox's Sweetheart on 'Mister Peepers,' Dies at 91 Her TV wedding was a ratings smash in 1954. She earlier starred opposite Melvyn Douglas on Broadway. Patricia Benoit, who played Nancy Remington, the sweetheart and eventual wife of Wally Cox's character on the 1950s NBC sitcom Mister Peepers, has died. She was 91. Benoit died Monday at her home in Port Chester, New York, her family announced. NBC's Mister Peepers, broadcast live from a New York theater for three seasons from July 1952 to June 1955, starred Cox (later the voice of the superhero Underdog and a Hollywood Squares regular) as the mild-mannered Robinson Peepers, a science teacher at Jefferson City Junior High. Benoit's Nancy was a nurse and the object of Peepers' awkward affection. In a highly anticipated television moment, the two were married near the end of the second season, with the new husband and wife on the cover of TV Guide in May 1954. Born on Feb. 21, 1927, in Fort Worth, Texas, Benoit attended Texas State College before moving to New York City when she was 19. She studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, appeared on a 1950 episode of Believe It or Not and had a career breakthrough when she starred as Melvyn Douglas' long-lost daughter in the 1951-52 Broadway comedy Glad Tidings. Benoit also appeared on Broadway in 1956 in Time Limit opposite Arthur Kennedy and in Middle of the Night with Edward G. Robinson. She starred as a divorcee on the short-lived 1958 NBC soap opera Today Is Ours and later worked on CBS' As the World Turns as well. Benoit moved to Croton-on-Hudson, New York, in 1961 and left acting a few years later to raise her children, her family noted. Survivors include her sons Jeremy and Nicholas; grandchildren Nicholas, Michael and Melissa; great-granddaughter Ella; and sister Doris.
  10. I had not known this, but Sid Sirulnik, who was listed as the producer of Somerset, later (1996) was the production manager of As the World Turns.
  11. Jacqueline Babbin was a wonderful producer. She was one of the best that All My Children had.
  12. I don't think that Eileen Fulton left on one episode and Pamela King became the new Lisa on the next episode. Lisa left town for a while. Supposedly, she was on a train and was raped by men all the way from Texas to Califonia. When Lisa returned the show (I cannot recall if she was in Oakdale or Rockport), she was so ashamed that she would not uncover her face. Alma was very worried about her and finally got Lisa to show her face. My mother and sister jumped and screamed that "That's not Lisa!" at this point. However, it was Ms. King who was taking the role as Lisa #2. Eileen Fulton may have retuned one day after Pamela King left (I cannot remember), but I am certain that Ms. Fulton was not on the show for a while when Ms. King began in the role.
  13. I am not sure. Could it already have been in existance? Elliot had not been introduced on the show at the time Kelly was. It was only during the cult storyline that Elliott was seen. I could be wrong. Please correct me if I am.
  14. I neither saw the wedding of Penny and Jeff or the exit of Mark Rydell as Jeff. Did I overlook these?
  15. I had been told that Santos Ortega began as Pa (Will) Hughes during the first week, possibly the second episode. I did not know that Will Lee played him for that length of time. My mother told me that Nancy had been dropped. It was then that her sister Pearl was invented. My mother said that Nancy was extremely mean to Penny (blaming her for Susan's drowning), and that Penny had ever right to strongly dislike her mother and preferring Aunt Edie. By the way, I think that Helen Wagner's initial perception as being mean may be the reason that the show often had her singing "Oh What a Beautiful Morning." She had recently been in a production of Oklahoma (probably as Aunt Eller) and they were trying to soften the character.
  16. I would have enjoyed seeing Dr. Dorian Lord again with Jason Webb. He was so concerned for her when she had a cancer scare.
  17. Yes, Burt Lord was his character on As the World Turns.
  18. Dan Hamilton also appeared on All My Children (as Hal Shea/Short). When did Katherine Houghton appear on The Secret Storm?
  19. When it was announced that Ms. Long was to be the new headwriter of One Life to Live, I thought that she would be a wonderful writer. (This was during the time that her primetime show Second Noah was still airing.) I was terribly disappointed with her writing.
  20. I regret that he was not used in the later years of the show. I do think, though, that his final storyline was interesting and well-written.
  21. I just learned that the late wife of actor Tom Ligon (Katherine Dunfee Clarke), who was also a daughter of David Clarke (Ryan's Hope) and an actress wrote scripts for the serial Capitol.
  22. To me, the Belle/Amy fued was perfect, and I cannot think of how another complication would have helped the show. What I did not like was how Belle was temporarily in jail (being accused of murdering Keefer), and she and Paul had a sort-of reunion. However, as soon as she was released, Paul left the show. I sought a better resolution. One would have been a Paul-Belle-Dan triangle.
  23. I think that the writers who wrote the Stanley Norris murder storyline were wonderful, and I am sad to see that they are not on the list of the ten best headwriters. This, of course, is on The Guiding Light. I think that the story was written by Ralph Ellis and Eugenie Hunt. (I could be mistaken.) This is my favorite murder mystery of any of the soap operas that I have watched. This storyline introduced many new characters to the show: Barbara, Ken, Holly, Kit, and Roger. It also re-integrated the show racially, although Olivia Cole's character may have already been established as the friend of Janet.
  24. I have forgotten. Who played Pietro and Viva? I remember that the actress who played Viva was quite attractive.
