  1. INT. TOWERS – DAY Michelle, Danny, and Ed continue to eat when Danny rejoins. Michelle: (anxious) What did they say? Ed: Michelle, give him time. Danny: You were right, Ed. The FCC the plane had been tampered with. Michelle: What? Are you kidding me? Someone planned this? Who would do something like this -- target Uncle Mike? Ed: Sure it had something to do with the investigation on the mob activity in DC. (tosses his napkin on the table in rage) I told him not to get involved. I had a bad feeling from day one. Rick: But Dad, that was Uncle Mike. You know he always had to do the right thing. Ed: But it cost him his life. Danny: Well I can look into it if you want me too. Call some old friends in the mob-- Michelle: OH NO! Hell no. You left that lifestyle behind and I don’t want you going back to it. Danny: But it’s for the family. Michelle: So what. I’d rather be left in the dark than you getting back involved with the mob. Let’s just leave it up to the FBI to figure it out. Ed: She is right, Danny. We don’t need no more bad news no time soon. Let’s see what the FBI will do before we make drastic decisions like that. Rick: This topic is going to have to take a back seat since we need to heading to church now. (he gets up) You guys go ahead to the car, I am going to pay the bill. Rick whips out his Visa card and heads to the cashier. Ed, Michelle, and Danny excuse themselves heading to the elevator. CUT TO: INT. JESSUP FARM – DAY – LIVING ROOM Cassie opens the door to Reva, Josh, Baby Henry, and Shayne. She greets each one of them as they enter inside. Cassie: Sorry everyone that we are running a little late. RJ refuses to wear the suit I picked for him. Josh: Maybe I should go and help him? Cassie: I wouldn’t even bother. RJ is a preteen now, I doubt he’ll even listen. Reva: We know about that. They all laugh. Cassie leads them to the couches where they all have a seat. Cassie: Did anyone want anything to eat? I cooked a nice breakfast this morning. Reva: I don’t even think I can eat with this funeral. Cassie takes Henry from Shayne and starts playing with him. A combination of weird faces and bouncing him on her knee. Cassie: Weird, huh? I just can’t believe that Sam is dead. I just can’t. He was such a sweet boy. Josh: And I can’t thank him enough for saving Marah. Cassie: Neither can I. (looking around) Where is Marah? Reva: She’s not coming. I told her it is best to steer clear from Olivia as long as she can. Cassie: Reva, come on. I think that Marah should be there. She was friends with Sam, she even dated him at one point. She has every right to be there. And Sam would want her there. Reva: We know that but it’s what OLIVIA wants. This is more like the Olivia show than anything. And I don’t know how much I can bear of her actions against Marah. Causing her to lose her job in Paris— Cassie: What! Reva: So I guess your partner did not tell you? She has Marah fired La Bella. Guess she had friends in the higher ups. Cassie: Poor Marah. Shayne: It is. I’m growing sick of her moping around the room like she’s dead. Cassie: Then maybe Marah should start her own line. Reva: We tried. She refuses to take money from any of us. Cassie: Then what can we do? Reva: I have no clue but we better come up with something quick. I don’t know how much longer I can take of her locking herself up in that room. Cassie: We’ll figure something out. Is Jeffrey joining us? Reva: He’s at the church with Olivia and Natalia. She needs him more than anything. Cassie: Is Ava coming? Shayne: She’s suppose to. Cassie: Good, good. RJ slumps down the stairs and presents himself in front of everyone. He is not too eager about his outfit and slicked back hair. Reva: RJ, you look so handsome! RJ: (dully) Thanks, Aunt Reva. Reva grabs RJ by the arm, drawing him closer to her. Reva: (pushing his head up) Hold your head up! You’re a Shayne. We never hold our heads down. We have too much spirit for that. RJ lights up at his aunt’s encouraging words. Reva: (standing up) Now come on here and let’s go get you something to eat. Reva starts leads RJ into the kitchen. Cassie: Thanks, Reva. Reva: No problem, sis. Reva & RJ exit into the kitchen. Josh; That’s RJ for you. Cassie: Hasn’t changed a bit. (to Shayne) So what have you been up to? Shayne: Nothing much. Cassie: Yeah right. I heard that Ed wants to join the staff at Cedars due to your work you did in the Peace Corps. Whoever would’ve thought that Shayne Lewis would be a doctor? Shayne: (smiling) Who says I was going to take it. Cassie: You better! You’re smart, a good people’s person, and easy on the eyes. I am sure many women in Springfield would love for you to treat them. And again, this would be good for you to put your Peace Corps work to good use. You didn’t go over there for 3-4 years for nothing. Use those skills for the greater good. The doorbell rings. Cassie: Excuse me. Cassie gets up, holding Henry still, and head to the door. Cassie: Who is it? Frank: (O.C.) Frank. Cassie opens the door to Frank. Frank is impressed at the sight of her holding the baby. Frank: (playing baby Henry) Well aren’t you lucky to have such a beautiful woman hold you, Grandson. Must be the Cooper gene. Cassie blushes. She and Frank stare deep, longing into each other eyes. CUT TO INT. CHURCH – DAY Olivia directs the ushers on where to place memorabilia of the deceased throughout the church. Natalia and Jeffrey sit in a pew nearby, watching. Olivia: I don’t want that picture of my brother there, put it over there... Usher #1 is done as he is told and moves the picture where Olivia points out. Olivia: (to Usher #2) Don’t put the flower like that! They go like this. (she walks up and arranges some of the flowers)...See what I am saying. Usher #2: Yes Ms. Spencer. Olivia: Good. Now do the rest like that. Jeffrey: Someone is acting like a Nazi today. Natalia: And you see that I am just going to steer clear from her until the funeral. Usher #3 walks out the back with candles in his hands, sending Olivia over the edge. Olivia: (to Usher #3) My God these are not the candles I asked for! These are cheap! (she snatches them from him and tossed them on the floor) I want good wax candles! Not that crap from the dollar store! This is funeral! Not some backwoods family reunion! Can anyone get one thing right?! Jeffrey: That’s our cue. Jeffrey and Natalia grab Olivia, leading her to the lobby. Natalia: Enough, Olivia. These men are doing just fine. They are here to help. Olivia: No, what they are doing is trying to put on a circus. Without my direction— Jeffrey: The funeral would still be good. You are over thinking and over working yourself. Olivia: (breaks free of their grip and turns to them) NO I AM NOT! CAN I JUST THROUGH— Natalia: Inside voice. Olivia: (calming down) Can I just through a nice funeral for my brother. Jeffrey: The thing is that this isn’t just your brother’s funeral. The ceremony is also shared by the Bauers too. You keep forgetting that. Olivia: …You’re right. I apologize. I’m a wrong as always. (getting emotional) Excuse me for trying to give Sam something nice and special! Excuse— The door to the church open and wobbling in on her crutches is Marah.   2. EXT. CHURCH - DAY Olivia and Natalia walk up the church hand in hand. Olivia stops in place, staring at the monolith in front of her. Natalia: What's wrong? Olivia: Nothing. I just need sometime to take this all in. I can't believe that I am actually burying my brother today. Natalia: (reaches out to comfort her) Oh, honey. Olivia pushes Natalia away and starts to break down. Olivia: No, NO! I can't accept it. I can't accept that I am burying by baby brother. I was suppose to go before him. Sam is suppose to live a long, happy, meaningful life. He was the one to go on have kids. He was the one who was to make a difference in the world. WHY NOT ME?! Natalia pulls out her handkerchief and goes for Olivia's face when again Olivia pushes her away. Olivia: Could you STOP?! Natalia: I'm trying to help you. Olivia: I don't need help. What I need is Sam. Can you bring him back? Natalia: No... Olivia: THEN YOU CAN'T HELP ME! Olivia storms off into the church leaving Natalia in deep thought and sorrow. INT. TOWERS - DAY Rick and Ed sit a table eating breakfast and chatting over the current events. Ed: So glad that Alan dropped those charges. Rick: I'm surprised if anything. That man normally does not back down to anyone. Ed: Well there is a first for everything. Rick: And that is a first. A waiter comes to their table to pour them another cup of coffee. Rick: (to waiter) Thanks. (to Ed) But I want to commend you on allowing Olivia to join Sam's funeral with all our family. Ed: No problem. We all might as well mourn all these people together. They were so loved by many of us. Rick: True. Nearby, the elevator door opens and Danny and Michelle step off. Michelle and Ed spot each other and Michelle rushes in her father's arms. Michelle: (hysterical) Dad, I can't believe it. I just can't. Aunt Meta, Aunt Trudy, Uncle Bruce, Hope, and Uncle Mike. This is a tragedy. Ed: (consoling her) I know, I know. But we will get through this. (to Danny) Hi Danny. Danny: Hi Ed and Rick. Rick: Good to see you Danny. Danny's phone goes off. He looks at his phone. Danny: It's my friend Bob from the FCC. He may have an update on what might've caused the crash. Excuse me guys. Danny walks off and everyone is stricken with doubt and fear of what is to come. CUT TO INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY Reva dresses Colin while Jeffrey stands in the mirror adjusting his tie. Shayne is in the adjacent kitchen fixing a cup of coffee. Marah then comes down the stairs, dressed to everyone's surprise. Reva: Marah, honey, I thought you were going stay home and rest. Marah: No, Mom. I need to go. I need to go and say goodbye to Sam.   3. INT. MARAH'S ROOM - NIGHT Marah opens the door and walks in. She tosses the luggage off to the side and flops on her bed face-forward. Reva creeps in behind her. Reva: Still left the same way you did. Marah: (muffled by pillow) Thanks, Mom. Reva joins Marah on the bed. She rubs Marah on the back in comfort. Reva: Honey, I am so glad that you are home. Marah: I am sure you are. Reva: Ok. (gets up and heads to the door) There is some leftovers in the kitchen if you want some. Marah: Yep. Reva: I'll give you some alone time. Reva exits. Marah gets up and hobbles over to her slide doors where she exits onto the EXT. BALCONY Marah looks to the moon for comfort. Marah: Oh Sam...(breaking down)...I am so, SO SORRY. She stops for a second and looks at the cross hanging over the kitchen. She places her hand over her hears and mouths "Thank you." INT. COMPANY - Trista giggles with the customers she is serving from a far, Rocky watches impressed. Suddenly, Lillian comes from the back and taps him on the shoulder. Rocky turns around to notice its her and in disdain, gets up and heads up the stairs. Lillian is hurt by this gesture. EXT. MEL'S HOUSE - Rick pulls up the yard. He gets out and heads to the door. As he is about to knock, he hears the sound of laughter. He glances in a window to notice Mel, Leah, and Cyrus playing Monopoly. Not wanting to interrupt, Rick turns around and heads back to his car. He pulls off. Leah, watching from a window now, shakes her head in disappointment. INT. SPAULDING LIVING ROOM - The entire Spaulding clan (minus Alan) stand in a crowd when Alan Michael and Ed enters, shown in by Caroline. Alexandra breaks ranks and embraces A-M with a hug. The others rejoice at the sight of him now. Meanwhile, Alan watches on from upstairs. He downs his drink and heads down the hallway. Caroline stands in the background of the crowd, thrilled. A-M and her share a smile and she gives him a thumbs up. A-M quickly takes notice to the bracelet on her arm. He masks his suspicions with a grin. EXT. SPAULDING PORCH - DAY A dark figure lurks on the porch glancing in on the inside. We reveal that its non other than a very much alive, Grady! An ominous grin comes upon his face. Grady: I'm back...   4. INT. COURTROOM - DAY All eyes are on Alan as he stands before the court. Judge: Mr. Spaulding, so you're saying your son never embezzled money from the company? Alan: Uhh...yes. I was the one who made it look like he did. Judge: And why is that Mr. Spaulding? -- Let me take a guess, to punish him? Alan: To spare him. Judge: From what? He seems to be a pretty level headed man in my opinion. Unlike his father... Alan: Judge DuBois-- Judge: Shut your mouth! I am the only to speak. Not you. Alan: Yes, your Honor. Judge: It's rich people like you that think you can manipulate the system and people's lives. You should be ashamed! Do you hear me?! Alan nods his head in agreement. Judge: Mr. Spaulding, I ought to charge you for embezzlement and fraudulent crimes. (to A-M) Do you wanna press charges? Rick cheers in the background until Mel gestures for him to be quiet. Alan turns white in fear. Then, Alan Michael stands up. A-M: I don't want to press charges against him. Everyone is stunned again by this revelation except for Judge DuBois, who is impressed. Judge: Good. Glad to see you are nothing like your father. You must take after your mother. Caroline slightly grins at the sound of this. Judge: (to A-M) Today is your lucky day. I am going to award you not only your freedom but a haven as well. Mr. Tyrant aka your daddy, will provide you with a home until you can pick yourself back up and regain your stability. Alan: You can't do that! Judge: THE HELL I CAN! This is my courtroom. (pointing her gavel at Alan in a threatening tone) Let me catch you back in here and I swear, your going to jail. I'm going to have to show you I ain't the one! You better not even step foot in here and let me catch you or I swear--(in a rage) Get out of my courtroom before I step down from this bench and do something I regret! Alan walks out the courtroom: Judge: (to Bailiff) Don't let him back in here. (to everyone) Court is adjourned. The crowd exits out the entrance. Alan Michael hugs Mel and they are then joined by Rick and Ed. Ed: Thank you, Mel. Mel: No problem, Ed. I am only doing my job. Rick: A good one at that. Mel rolls her eyes. Mel: Excuse me. (to A-M) Congrats, sweetie. A-M: Thank you, Mel. Mel leaves the courtroom. Ed: You're a free man, nephew. How does it feel? A-M: Damn good. Ed pats Alan Michael on the back and they all head for exit when they notice Caroline sitting on the bench alone. Alan Michael: Thank you, Caroline. I know you had a hand in my freedom. Caroline: No problem. I know a good boy when I see one. Alan Michael, Ed, & Rick exit. Caroline: My baby boy, you are free. If only I could celebrate your freedom with you. CUT TO INT. AIRPLANE - DAY Reva and Josh are sound asleep while Shayne and Marah sits behind them. Shayne is buried in a magazine and Marah glances out the window in defeat. Marah: I cannot believe that I am going back to Springfield. Back to a place I tried so hard to leave behind. Shayne: It's not so bad. Marah: That's your opinion. Shayne: Marah, stop being a brat. Marah: Then shut up and leave me alone, Shayne. Shayne stares at Marah, annoyed. Shayne: What is wrong with you? Why are you so adamant about going home? Marah: Who says I am adamant? Shayne: What is it? Marah, what is it? Marah: Shayne, leave me alone. Shayne: Marah... Marah: I can't! I just can't go back there! I can't! Shayne: Whatever... Marah: Shayne, I can't face her.   5. EXT. LIGHTHOUSE - DAY Rocky drags Trista to the top of the lighthouse where the lantern is located and turns to her smiling. Rocky: Here we are! Trista hesitantly walks over the railing and looks over to the jagged rocks that lie below. Trista: Dear God... Rocky: You scared? Trista: NO! Rocky: You are. Trying to mask the fear, aren't you? Trista: I said I was not scared, didn't I? Rocky: (unsure) Ok... Rocky pulls a blanket out of the basket and spreads it on the floor. Rocky: (gesturing) Come on. Let's eat before the food gets cold. Trista joins him on the ground and the two begin to take the food out the basket. Trista: Rocky-- Rocky: Yes. Trista: We need to talk, buddy. Rocky: About... Trista: Ms. Raines or should I say the soon to be Mrs. Cooper. Rocky is unnerved by this statement. Rocky: What is there to talk about? Trista: A lot. You're burning hatred for that poor old woman. Rocky: I don't hate her. Trista: Liar. Rocky: I just can't stand her. Her constant nagging for my approval and that voice -- that soft voice drives me insane. Trista: (biting into her apple) Well you better learn to like her. Your dad is about to marry that woman. Rocky: I beg to differ. Trista: And that is suppose to mean? Rocky: What I meant. My dad is not going to marry her. Not if I have anything to do with it. Trista: Dear God... Rocky: I thought we were here to spend time together. You know, friends hanging out. Trista: We are, aren't we? Rocky: Then no more talk about my dad and Lillian. (placing his hand on hers) Let's talk about us. Trista: Us? Rocky: (flirting) Yes. Us... Trista tenses up and pulls her hand away. Trista: I don't get what your insinuating. Rocky: You do. Trista nervously takes another bite of her apple. Rocky: Trista -- I -- I -- Trista starts to unravel and sweat heavily. Rocky: I want you to pass a sandwich. Trista's jaw drops and Rocky burst into laughter. Trista: You moron! She tosses the sandwich at him. Rocky: What did you think I was going to say? I love you or something? Trista: I -- No. Rocky: Umm hmm. Trista: I did not think that, Rocky. Rocky: Ok. But if you did-- Trista: I won't and never will. Rocky: Never say never as I always say. Trista: Well I am saying it. We could be no more than friends. Rocky: And I could not have it any other way. Rocky holds up his root beer and so does Trista. Rocky: Cheers. The two smile, cheering to their friendship. CUT TO INT. COURTROOM - DAY Flashing cameras and mics crowd the doorway as Alan and Jeffrey (the DA) approach the courtroom. Dinah, with mic in her hand, reaches it out to Alan. Dinah: Alan, would you like to make a statement about the charges you have filed against your son? Alan: No I would not. And you of all people should know about shady business dealings. Alan walks ahead leaving Dinah bewildered. Dinah: (to the camera) Well Springfield, that is the devil himself. The courtroom is filled with various citizens of Springfield. Alan and Jeffrey taking a seat on the plaintiff side. Alan Michael and Mel trail them shortly, followed by Ed, Rick, and Phillip. Phillip sits on Alan's side (even though he wants his brother free) and Ed & Rick on Alan Michael's side. Suddenly, Caroline (Hope) comes down the aisle and sits behind Alan. Bailiff: (enters) ALL RISE! Judge Maxine DuBois (played by renowned Judge Mablean Ephriam) enters. Bailiff: This is case #754. The state of Illinois V. Spaulding. Bailiff hands her the case file. Judge DuBois: You may be seated. Everyone sits down. Judge DuBois: So we about Mr. Spaulding's charges for embezzlement. Alan glances at Caroline who smiles back at him. Her smile breaks Alan down. Jeffrey: Yes, ma'am we are. Judge: Ok. Shall we begin with the defense? Mel: Yes, your Honor. Alan stands up gaining the room's attention. Phillip: (whispering) Dad, what are you doing? Alan: (to Phillip) Shut up, boy. (to Judge) Your Honor, I have a confession to make. Judge: And what would that be Mr. Spaulding? Alan: I -- I -- MY SON IS INNOCENT! The room goes into an uproar at this statement. Rick utters "yes" in the background. Mel, amused by this revelation, shakes her head. Alan Michael: (to Mel) What is he doing? Mel: Telling the truth.   6. INT. COMPANY - DAY Trista finishes waiting on a customer and walks back to the to the bar where Rocky is sitting, sipping on a shake. She sits next to him. Trista: (sighs) Time for a break. Rocky: Good. Maybe now we can have that picnic you promised. Trista: But this is a break. I still have another shift to go. Rocky: Don't worry about it. Trista: Rocky, I can't... Rocky: (grinning) But you promised... Trista can't deny that smile and she knows it. Trista: Let me go and tell your dad. Rocky: Who cares. Let's just go. Rocky grabs Trista's hand. Trista: Lead the way. Rocky grabs the picnic basket and leads Trista to the door when Lillian enters, blocking them. Lillian: Hi guys. Rocky rolls his eyes at the sight of Lillian. Trista: Hello Mrs. Raines, how was work? Lillian: Just great. (turns to Rocky) Hello. Rocky: (dully) Hi. Trista elbows him. He gives her the "what?!" look and she shakes her head in disappointment. Lillian: So...umm...where are you two headed? Rocky: Out. Rocky drags Trista out the door leaving Lillian hurt. CUT TO INT. SWISS HOSPITAL Marah: (to Shayne) What? Are you kidding me? Marah sits up and Reva forces her back down. Josh: Marah, honey, calm down. Marah: How?! My career is over. Shayne: You could always start your own fashion house. Marah: With what? What money do I have to start a fashion house with? Josh: We could invest some of the money from Lewis with you. Marah: Dad, no. I could not do that. Plus I know that Lewis is suffering from the recession. I just have to accept it. I have to come home. CUT TO INT. SPAULDING MANOR - DAY Alan sits on the couch, downing a glass of bourbon when Caroline (Hope) enters carrying three different ties. Caroline: Which one? Alan: The blue one. Caroline: I was leaning more towards the red one. Alan: Why red? Caroline joins Alan on the couch. Caroline: Because the red matches well with your eyes. Alan: You say? Caroline: Of course. Alan: That's awkward. My ex-wife, Hope, use to say that. Caroline is nervous. Caroline: (uneasy) Hope? You mean -- mean the one who is Alan Michael's mother? Alan: Yep. (gets up and walks to the door, staring outside) So sad that she is no longer with us. Caroline continues to squirm. Caroline: She -- she is with you. In spirit. Alan: I know. Just wish she was here. With me. Physically. Caroline jumps up and begins to leave the room when, Alan: Wait. Do you think that I should really go through with hurting Alan Michael?   7. NOTE: I stated earlier I'd speed the story up a tad bit. Alan Michael has been locked up for a few days. Josh, Reva, and Shayne are about to arrive in Switzerland. The Bauers prepare for a funeral and a trial. Hope has been discovered by a surgeon, who has given her surgery and she has moved back to Springfield to resume the name of Caroline Norris. She is hired by Alan as his personal assistant and has gained his trust. She breaking Alan down free A-M of the charges. And now...THE GUIDING LIGHT INT. JAIL CELL - DAY Alan Michael eyes open to realize he is still locked up. He gets up and walks over the bars. A-M: Can anyone hear me? Frank drifts in the room. Frank: What? A-M: I need to make a phone call. Frank: Alan Michael... A-M: I have the right to one phone call a day, right? Frank: (agitated) You do. Frank opens up the cell. Frank: (stressing) You have only ONE call. A-M: Ok. Alan Michael walks over the the phone and starts to dial for Mel. EXT. MEL'S HOUSE - DAY Mel sits on the porch sipping coffee and going over legal briefs when her phone rings. INTERCUT - PHONE CONVO Mel: Yes, Alan Michael? A-M: How is everything going? Mel: Good so far. You remember that woman named Caroline I was telling you about, don't you? A-M: (weary) Yeah. Mel: Well I think that Caroline may have gotten Alan to come around. A-M: (surprised) Really? I'll believe it when I see it. Have you spoken to Rick? Mel: He came over yesterday with Ed and we discussed the case and all. Frank: (in the B.G) Twenty seconds... A-M: I gotta go. Mel: Don't worry. I'll be there shortly. A-M: Alright. Mel: Alan Michael... A-M: Yes, Mel? Mel: Don't worry. You WILL be going home today. A-M: Thanks, Mel. Alan Michael hangs up the phone with a look of hope. CUT TO INT. SWISS HOSPITAL - DAY Marah stares out the window at the fallen snow when Reva, Shayne, and Josh enter. Marah looks at them and turns back away. Marah: Why did you come here? I thought I told you guys I did not want any guests. Reva: Then you should've known we were going to do the opposite. Especially me. Marah: Mother, I just want to be alone. (misty eyes) I just wanna heal up by myself and then go back to my life Paris. Shayne: Marah, stop being a brat. Marah turns back to face her family with hatred in her eyes. Marah: Go to hell, Shayne. Shayne: Classy, Marah. Real classy. Josh: Shayne, stop. Marah, we want you to come back home. Marah: For what? There is nothing for me in Springfield. Reva: Uhh hello, there is us. Marah: Great. (sarcastically) Something to really make me go back home. Shayne: Mom, Dad, let her go back to Paris if she wants.   16. INT. CROSS CREEK - DAY - LIVING ROOM We continue where we last left off. Reva: What is wrong with Marah, Josh? Josh: I just got a call from one of Marah's friends. Marah is in the hospital. Reva: What?! (tearing up) Joshua, are kidding me? She's not-- Josh: No she is fine. Just a broken leg and some bruises. Reva exhales and grabs hope to the counter to support her. Jeffrey consoles Reva. Jeff: What is going on? Josh: Marah was trapped in an avalanche. Reva: Oh my God...how is Sam? Jeff: Sam? You mean Sam Spencer? Olivia's brother? Reva: Yeah. Marah and some of her friends from Paris met Sam in Switzerland for a ski trip. (to Josh) How is Sam? Josh: Sam...Sam is dead. Jeff: Oh no. Reva: (simultaneously) Lord help us. Josh: He died saving Marah. He got her to safety when another rock slide took place. Marah was carried downhill while Sam was buried alive. Reva: Does Olivia know? Josh: No. I told her friends that I would personally tell Olivia. Reva: Poor Olivia. Besides Ava and Emma, Sam was all she had left. Jeffrey opens the door and starts to head out. Jeffrey kisses Reva again on the cheek before heading out the door. Fear is riddled all over Reva's face. Josh quickly catches on and leans close to Reva. Josh: What is wrong? Reva: I'm just worried -- worried how Olivia is going to take the news. CUT TO: INT. BUS - DAY Trista Tucker, a sullen young southern belle, sits in the back of the bus with headphones on, listening to Mi Voix's, Ritournelle (GL's "dead leaves" theme). She bobs her head side to side, gracefully at the sound of the soothing music. The bus then comes to a halting stop. Trista: What the h-- Trista removes her headphones and looks up towards the front of the bus as more people pack onto the bus. But one guy, one guy catches her eye. She is enamored by him. She can tell that somehow, he and her are destined to be together. At the other end of the bus, the guy, is non other than the long absent son, Rocky Cooper. With his tossed, honeycomb blond hair, he meets eyes with Trista. So much passion, so much innocence. They quickly shake off the dreamy glances and come back reality. He quickly makes his way up the aisle to Trista. Rocky: Can I join you? Trista: Sure. Trista moves her bag for Rocky to sit. Rocky: (extending his hand) I'm Rocky Cooper. Trista takes his hand and shakes it. Trista: Nice to meet you. I'm Trista. Trista Tucker. Bus Driver: (over intercom) Next stop, Springfield.   17. INT. LIMO - DAY (James/Phillip/Alex/Beth/Lizzie/Bill/Alan) Alexandra closes down her compact mirror to gaze over at Phillip, who is impatiently looking down at his watch. Alex: Looking down at that watch is not going to speed your father up. That man is going to do anything he can to avoid attending the barbecue. James: I say we leave without him. Lizzie: I second that motion. Why does Grandfather have to even go? We all know he hates the Bauers and vice versa. Let's just spare everyone the agony and leave him here. Phillip: Because he's going. Beth: Well I'd wish he'd hurry. Rick is waiting on us at the park to help set up. Phillip: I know. (glances at watch again) Where the hell is he? The limo door opens and Alan coldly slides in. The car takes off. Phillip: Glad you finally decided to join us, Dad. Alan doesn't react. Beth: Alan, are you ok? Alex: Yes, brother, are you ok? I mean I know you hate the Bauers but do you have to look so stone cold? Alan: I'M FINE. Can't a man just since in silence? (to James) Fix me a drink. James fixes Alan. He tries to go for a sip of it when Beth snatches it from him, handing it over to Alan. Alex: Well whatever has your panties in a bunch needs to happen more often if you are going to remain silent. Phillip: I am all for it. INT. CROSS CREEK - DAY Reva stand in front of the mirror adjusting her hat when Jeffrey walks up behind her, wrapping his arms around her. Reva: What, Jeffrey? Jeff: Nothing. Just realizing how lucky I am. Reva: Umm Hhmm. Whatever. You are still worried about me accepting that position with Lewis Construction. Jeffrey: No...why would I be worried. Reva breaks free of Jeffery's grip, facing off with him. She gives off that she is onto him. Reva: O'Neill, I know you are worried about me and Josh working together again... Jeff: Again, why would I be worried? Reva: I don't know but you have been moping around this house for past few days since Josh offered the position back. Jeff: Reva-- Reva: Look -- if you don't want me to take the job then just say so. Jeff: I'm just worried about Colin. That's all. Reva: Lewis has a nursery. Jeff: That Josh just recently had installed. Reva: (throwing her hands up in defeat) Here we go. Jeff: What do you mean, here we go? Reva: Just admit it, Jeffery! BAUER KITCHEN - DAY Rick stands at the stove, taste testing his homemade BBQ sauce when Ed emerges into the kitchen sporting a white chef's hat and an apron that reads, "FATHER OF THE COOK." Rick bursts into laughter at the site of his father. Ed: So I am assuming you don't like it? Rick: Not really. You look pretty silly. Ed: Well at least I won't be alone. Ed slaps a chef's hat on Rick's head also. Rick: Are you kidding me? I am not wearing this -- this thing. Ed: Of course you are. And you're going to wear it with dignity. Rick: I don't think wearing this monstrosity on my head will make me feel dignified. Ed: But you will. Oh and here. (pulls an apron from his back pocket and hands it to Rick) You are going to need this as well. Rick is speechless and worried what the apron might say. He unravels it and is taken back. He shows the apron to Ed. Rick: Kiss the cook? Dad, that is umm...pretty generic. Ed: Well there is a reasoning behind it. Rick: Please share. Ed: With all these available women showing up at the cookout, maybe one will take you up on the offer and kiss-- Rick: Dad! Ed: Come on, Son. Let's be serious. But, on the other hand, he knows that it has to be done. Ed: The truth is that, there WAS or NEVER will be a you and Beth. Beth will always be in love with Phillip or Alan or whoever else is the man of the hour. Rick: So what? Beth never loved me? Ed: Loves you, yes. Ever in love with you, no. You've always fought to be with Beth but in return she has never fought to be with you. Rick: I thought you liked Beth? Ed: I do. But let's be honest, Beth has really just been using you. And I just never understood how you left Mel to chase a dream you have had since you were a mere teenager. Rick: It wasn't a dream. Beth and I did love each other at that point. Ed: No you weren't. You two were seeking comfort from elsewhere. Beth, from dealing with Alan and you, from dealing with Mel being upset about the Ross accident. The phone rings. Rick: I'll get it because I am over this conversation. Rick goes to answer the phone. Rick: (on phone) Hello?....Hi Michelle! Rick shoots a look at Ed before going back to talk to Michelle. CUT TO INT. SPAULDING MANOR - DAY - ALAN'S ROOM Alan stand in front of the mirror examining himself. He likes what he sees and pops a cigar in his mouth. As he is about to light it, Alexandra bursts into the room. Alan: What now Alexandra? Alex: Just checking to see what is taking you so...(distracted by what he is wearing)...Alan...why are you wearing a tux to cookout. Alan: More like my funeral. Me, in a room with a bunch of Bauers spells disaster. Alex: Well you are still going. Everyone is going to be there. I even heard Mike might make a surprise cameo. Alan: Great. That man gave me hell when I was married to Hope and now I have to deal with him being at the BBQ? Alex: Oh Alan. You are being dramatic. I am sure that Mike's opinion of you have changed since then. Alan: Yeah. I am sure he hates me worse than before. Especially with the feud I had with Rick. Alex: Just be polite...even though that is hard for you. Alex snatches the cigar out of his mouth and tosses it into the trash. Alan is stunned by this action. Alex: Now hurry up. We'll be down in the limo waiting you. Alan releases a big sigh as Alex exits the room. Suddenly the phone rings. Alan: Hilda! Hilda, get the phone No one answer. Alan: Damned hired help. They just don't seem to help anyone anymore.   19. INT. WSPR - DAY - HOLLY'S OFFICE Holly sits back in her chair, exhausted as Dinah and Blake continue to sling insults at one another. Tired, Holly slams her fist on the table, regaining control of the room. Holly: Ladies! Enough is enough. (pointing the chairs in front of her) Have a seat. Dinah and Blake do as they are told. Holly: Now look, Blake, I thought you wanted nothing to do with WSPR? Blake: At first. But I had a change of heart. Dinah: Of course, when you discovered that Holly was going offering me a position. Blake: Oh Dinah, get a grip! Have you not learned that the world does not revolve around you? Dinah: Unfortunately not. You don't even have the skills to be a good anchor. Blake: How hard can it be to read off a teleprompter? Holly: Ladies. Stop! I've made my decision already...You're both hired. Dinah & Blake: (bewildered) What? Holly: I am hiring the both of you. Blake, you will bring in viewers due to-- Dinah: Being Roger Thorpe's daughter, having that sham of a marriage to my father, and those trashy novels you write. Holly: No...but her fame from her best-selling novels will bring in viewers. And Dinah, your hard journalistic talent will-- Blake: Send people to a competing station when they learn that their anchor married her co-anchor's father for her trust fund, then the son of her husband before killing him in cold blood... Holly: (holding her head) Girls... Dinah: You know what, I am not going to sit here and let you dictate my feelings for Hart. Because if you wanna get dirty we can get dirty. Your history is no cleaner than mine. Dinah gets up and head for the door. She stops for a second and turns around to add one more thing. Dinah: Holly...I want you to know that I accept the job. I'll be in tomorrow. Dinah rolls her eyes at Blake before slamming the door behind her. Blake sits in the chair fuming. Blake: (to self) Damn her. (to Holly) YOU CAN'T HIRE HER! Holly: Too bad I only take what you say so lightly. Blake: Mom, Dinah Marler will drop the credibility of this station down. Holly: No she won't. If anything, you two together will draw in huge ratings. Oh and when you two join up Reginald, the male anchor I hired, the ratings will zoom through the roof. Nichols will play John Hu, a leader of drug syndicate who has ties to many of Springfield's citizens. Barr on the other hand will play Cecilia, who will come to take Billy off Vanessa's hands. But she too has a past with some fellow Springfielders..." OUT When asked about why the recent release of Karla Mosley and Murray Bartlett, executive producer Ed Scott had to say, "They don't fit into my vision of TGL. I want anything of the Kreizman/Wheeler era stripped of MY show! There are some of their charachers that can be saved but these two just have to go..." SOD asks, "Is there a possibility for a return in the future?" Head writer Brandon Fluellen reports, "Anything is possible but I would not hold my breath." Short Return SOD: "What is the purpose of Grady's short return?" Fluellen: "Part of Cyrus's exit. Grady is very much alive and seeing Cyrus' exit will thrust him into hiding agan."

  22. INT. COMPANY - DAY The usual busy lunch crowd. Buzz is in the kitchen flipping burgers while Phillip sits at the bar sipping a cup of coffee. Cyrus awkwardly slides into room, grabbing a seat next to Phillip. Phillip glances over at Cyrus, clearly annoyed. Phillip: What now, Foley? Cyrus: I know what you did to my brother. You're gonna pay. Phillip: (facing Foley) What are you talking about? Is this some new scheme of yours to try and scam someone? If so, you might wanna go back to the drawing board. Cyrus: No scams here. Just solid evidence. Phillip: Really? Then shoot. The two lock eyes. An unbearable silence overcomes them. The tension is so thick it can be cut with an knife. Suddenly, the door opens and in walks Harley. Phillip & Cyrus: (stunned) Harley? Buzz, not paying attention, comes from the kitchen whistling Dixie, carrying a plate with a burger. Harley: Dad... I asked for a burger like ten minutes ago. I thought the service was speedy. Phillip: Well can you wait! The man's daughter just came home. Damn! Buzz: (mediating) It's ok. He is right. (to customer) I'll be with you shortly and this will be on the house. The customer heads back to his booth. Buzz: (to Harley) Later? Harley: Later. Harley kisses Buzz on the cheek. He lights up in the face and heads back into the kitchen. Harley: (to Phillip) So what did I just walk in on? Phillip: Nothing much. Harley: Yeah... Cyrus joins in the convo. WSPR - DAY - CONFERENCE ROOM Holly sits at her desks, going over the budget when a KNOCK is heard on the door. Holly: Come in! Dinah peeks her head and Holly is thrilled to see her. Holly: I was wondering when you were going to arrive. Dinah: Sorry I am late. Shayne and I got into a bit of an argument. Holly: You ok? (points to the seat in front of her) Come, come sit down. Dinah grabs a seat across from Holly. Dinah: I'll be fine. So what did you want? Holly: Since your mother signed over the position of general manager back over to me, I was wanting to make some changes. I want WSPR to go back to being the hardcore news station we use to be. What I am trying to say is Dinah -- I want you to come back and be an anchor for the show. Dinah. I don't know... Holly: Dinah. You have what it takes. You have that pizazz, that spunk that will draw crowds in. I am trying to build a strong team of anchors and I want you to be one of them. I won't take no for an answer. Blake: (off-screen) Mom-- Blake barges into the room and all the attention is turned towards her. Blake: (snarky) Dinah. What are YOU doing here? I thought you wanted out of WSPR when Vanessa signed things back over to my mom? Holly: That's the reason she is here. I want Dinah to join the new team of anchors. Blake: What?! Holly: Yes. Blake: Mother, are you crazy? Dinah is all shades of controversy. Do you think the sponsors really want to invest in a two time killer? She killed Hart and now she is on trial for killing some Edmund look-a-like. Holly: She is innocent until proven guilty, Blake. Blake: Guilty my behind. I can tell you now that gun wielding Dinah was behind this man's death. Dinah: Can you two just stop for a second? Holly: (to Dinah) Hold on a second, honey. (to Blake) Why don't you think Dinah is good enough for the position? Do you know someone who could do it better? Blake: Actually I do. Holly: Who? Blake: Me. Dinah burst into laughter.   23. From the writers that gave you the short live soap opera, "The Pride and the Prejudice," bring you TGL: The Guiding Light. The Light has been renewed, now joining the SON network for the remainder of its 72nd and 1st half of 73rd year. The story will begin a day before this year's "final" Bauer BBQ. There will be twists and turns and you will fall in love with the story I have developed like you did GL in it's best years. Stay tuned as cast & production lists will be revealed.
