As cheesy as these ad were, they seemed effective. I hate that soaps aren't catchy with their ads anymore. A great ad can do so much in the long haul. Gosh, I hate being a late 80s baby. I would've enjoyed soaps in the 80s. At least I got to enjoy the last golden age of soaps--the 90s, so I can't complain too much.

Well she is plans on turning up this season--LN that is. I guess Mariah's comments about what she brings to the show got to her. She's showing her ass this season from what I've read.

Eduardo pursuing Lisa and Ellen would've been interesting to watch. But you bringing up this point always used to piss in the final years of the show when it came to the veterans. Why didn't JP revive Lisa v. Lucinda? Especially since Lisa blamed her for Whit's demise. Also, Lisa wasn't the biggest fan of Lucinda bedding her son, Scott. And that period when they both were pursuing John. These two larger than life females should've always been at odds. Over men. Business. Everything. It was criminal how Liz and Eileen were given nothing the final decade. I would've had a field day with these two if I were head writer. More than I would the younger characters. Reading up on Lisa's history and seeing clips before my time, Lisa was always interesting when she had a formidable female opponent. Whether it was Penny. Ellen. Joyce. Crazy Hester. Lucinda. Lisa should've always had a female rival, and she should've always remained vibrant and lively. Her being a 'talk-to' for characters like Bonnie, Casey, Maddie, etc. was horrible. Yes, Lisa should've taken lost souls under her wings but she should've still had more to do seeing as she was the original soap vixen/diva.

I don't think I want her on GH unless she was playing Liz's mother. I'm over him casting soap legends in stupid parental roles for his floppy creations. Re: Ellen--So her last big story was what 83/84? Jesus. Patricia was a trooper for staying as long as she did and being reduced to supporting for the remainder of her stay. Again, I think that it is criminal that she never got a big 'A' story down the road. I think she deserved one once David left the show and passed away.

Do you think that Diana would've had longevity compared to the rest of her family? And it always boggled my mind how Kim Johnston Ulrich never landed on another soap post Passions. She was always one of the few diamonds on that show.

Thanks for posting these episodes, Carl! I enjoyed them! Watching these makes me wish what could've been had ATWT been in a capable writer the final years. For one, John should've never been written off. That's just one character alongside Kim, Nancy, Lisa, Bob, and Lucinda that should have a permanent spot of the show regardless. Everyone else is somewhat expendable. And poor Patricia Bruder. Watching old episodes always makes me feel bad for her b/c they aged her so much. She was always stuck in the domestic/maternal roles while Kim, Lucinda, and Lisa, her counterparts, went on to still have thrilling stories. I'm guessing because Ellen drove story from the start, no writer (not even the great Marland) knew where to take her. But I hate that excuse. Ellen should've been more than just the overseer of Betsy, Emily, and all the other reckless, younger Stewart women. Seeing the scene with Annie and Jeff makes me wish that one (if not all) the quads (Maria, Nancy, Lowell, or Gregory) would've been brought back in the final years of the show. They could've helped rejuvenate the Stewart/Lowell clan alongside Allison and Emily. Also, was this around the time that Eileen left the show and Lisa was recast for awhile? I notice that Whit was still around this time too. Carl, how did you feel about Whit McColl or his kids (Diana, Kirk, & Brian)?

Understandable. IMO, the characters seemed to be better once they broke apart. At least Craig did. I just hate what Hogan & Jean did to him in later years. Did you like Betsy when Lindsay Frost played her? From what little I've seen, she seemed add something different to the role of Betsy than Meg Ryan did. She wasn't so mousy and meek.

Exactly. And sadly, we'll never hear the end of it from Heather & Kristen. These two are going to drag this out till the end of all time.

I think during. I think she & Carole start falling out starting next week. I think her and Heather fall out on one of the housewife trips later this season.

Well I thought it was a perfect comeback. I don't see how it is weird or sad at all. She's been disputing for the past three years [in a civil manner] that she wasn't a whore. I don't think that she has reached her wicks end until now, so she had to get gutter with Phaedra for her to get the hint.

She owned Phaedra and you cannot deny that. She TKO'd Phelony with that last comeback of the night. Phaedra couldn't bounce back. All she could do was look at Porsha for assistance. Hell, even Kandi reacted [with raised eyebrows] to the verbal ass whooping that Kenya signed, sealed, and delivered to Phaedra. I don't like Porsha but I at least owned that fact that she got Kenya that one time when she said "and scene." Just own it. Phaedra got her ass handed to her. She can no longer grab at the low-hanging fruit [i.e. calling Kenya a whore] anymore. And Kenya will further cease that from happening when she brings up Nene/Peter situation next week, which is so funny b/c Phaedra [along with Sheree, Kim, & Kandi] tried to deem Nene a whore a few seasons ago too. I'm with Kenya--everyone flirts. And nobody can't sit up in here and say they haven't.

I enjoyed that, but she needs a drop a few people from the lineup [i.e. Janet and Brandon]. Janet because is a cray cray and Brandon b/c he cannot act to save his damn life.

Even though I am a late Corrie watcher [as I started in the mid 00s], I love Bet. From going back and watching her whole arc/backstory thanks to the videos that Corrie made about their legends [something the US soaps should've done], I can see why the general audience loved her too. She went from being a tart with a heart to the sensible, lovable business woman--a respectable pillar on the street. And besides Sharon, Peggy, Angie, & Mrs. Walker, Bet has to be one of, if not the best barmaid/landlady in British soap history. I enjoy watching clips from old school Corrie because despite the casts being large, everyone had and knew their roles. I don't think that exists on this show nowadays. There is so much deadweight on the show, and it is so dark in recent years. The show seriously needs to lighten up.

I think that Porsha shot herself in the foot last night. Andy kept trying to push her into apologizing and she failed. By doing so, you can tell that Andy was done with her, and I am sure Bravo feels the same way. Toodles, THOT. You won't be missed. So sad to see a grown ass woman not own her sh-t, which is my primary issues with Phelony and Nene too. Phaedra needs to own her wh*rish ways as the streets have been talking when it comes to her. Everyone in the 'A' know that she has been passed around like a hot potato, and ran through like a track in a stadium. And next week, Nene will fail to own her sh-t, as he fails to forget that she DID flirt with Peter back in s3. Team Misery is too much.
