I think it's unfair to compare anyone to Donna - she's clearly had great styling, plastic surgery and the ability to know when to quit and not go for the "too youthful" route. She looks like herself, even if it's blatantly obvious she's had quite a bit of help over the years.

I think the biggest issue with Morgan's wig is that the hairline looks so very off. Donna's looks like it's based in her own hairline while Morgan is clearly going for the straight-on fake look.

I’m no wig expert but I think Donna’s is a human hair lace front while Morgan’s is not - more like shake and go.

Watched some of that Wendy/Nneka mess from last night’s Potomac. Ugh, that whole scene was cringe, and not in a good way. Ashley, Gizelle, and Mia all gotta go. It’s not fun.

I really do not enjoy this Nneka at all. She is very impressed with herself and I see no reason for her to be.

Mia should have been OUT after her first season. Period.

Agreed on all counts. I did not enjoy last night's episode at all and think this season of Potomac is a dud.

Given the woman who made allegations against Chris Bassett has now admitted she made all of it up and is admitting that she's 100% in the wrong it's time to take a look at who instigated and promoted that lie. Robyn and Gizelle both fanned those flames on their podcast.

Mia is a dud. Everything Wendy said about her appears to be true.

The sole redeeming feature of the season is Karen. She is still hilarious.

Kind of shocked at Morgan in that interview. She can barely move her face.

You can mostly hear the age in Donna and Linda's voices (or from dental work possibly) but they both look more real to me.

I know it's not fair to go on about plastic surgery so much but in cases like this I was transfixed.

It doesn't help that she's heavier these days, too.  Her extra pounds make her face look heavier and puffier than it should.

That is exactly the problem. Morgan apparently had a health issue from exposure to mold and in her own words, she "ballooned" and she's struggled to take that weight off.

Fillers are so challenging to balance against symmetry and weight gain throws it all off. Morgan is a nice, well liked person and I wish she hadn't had to deal with this.

I also dislike the wig she's wearing there - I think she recently cut her hair for a role, but she would look better with a more voluminous wig like the one Donna is wearing that would frame her face and give some balance.

Even Susan Sullivan or (God help us) Joan Van Ark might have made sense than Loni, lol.  Don't get me wrong, I love Loni and her refusal to play Jennifer Marlowe as just another "office bimbo," but her inclusion kinda, sorta blows the whole concept behind the casting of this particular movie.  *shrug*

Meanwhile, I'm wishing they had had opportunities to include cameos from other soap divas - Dame Joan, Linda Evans, Susan Lucci, Michele Lee, Ana-Alicia, Dee Hall, you name it - but they probably didn't.

Susan Sullivan would have been wonderful. She recently had surgery for lung cancer (she never smoked). Joan Van Ark might look like a burn victim but she has a sense of humour about herself. I enjoyed her scenes in the Dallas reboot.

I loved that Morgan pointed out that Loni wasn't like the rest of them. She knows what's up.

Nicollette should loosen up. Knots Landing was a primetime soap - it just happened to be better made than the rest of them and lacked some of the melodramatic production flourishes.

I knew if anyone on this board would feel the same as me, it was you. LK has never phoned it in a day on the show, you can find things for Kate to do. Like first off, release Lucas from prison. For some reason Lani and Lucas are the only two nice characters that have actually had to stay in prison for an extended stay and it’s dumb when you see who is walking around free in Salem 🙄. Lucas gets out, Kate instantly has something to do.

Yes, this really makes me sad. Sad for Lauren, sad for those who love to watch her, and sad for the show.

There is certainly every possibility that she can be recurring like Judi Evans is and have good scenes to play. DAYS has done recurring better than a lot of shows.

What I do not want to see is an unceremonious exit for Kate and LK. That is not how a character like Kate Roberts goes out. That is not how an actress like LK goes out.

She has been a 27 year veteran of the show for an uninterrupted run. No one on the cast could claim that anymore.

Lauren Koslow is now on recurring, according to @JAS0N47. She was consecutively on contract the longest. Josh Taylor, having been continuously on contract since 2004, takes that distinction, which makes it even sadder. It'll be interesting to see if this changes when Albert Alarr is officially gone.

I didn't see this elsewhere, but I am really sad to hear this. She has been a favourite of mine for decades and always made whatever nonsensical writing they threw at her work.

    RHOP

Wendy remains the target for attacks, one season after Mia laid hands on her (and really should have been fired for it).

Nneka was clearly hired with the intent to 'bring down Wendy.' And Ashley is turncoat as always, setting up the takedown because the only alliance she is loyal to is the GEBs.

None of the women, except Karen and Candiace, can actually match Wendy for smarts. (K and C could teach her something about quick wit!). So the GEBs decide to lean into one of the uglier African stereotypes out there. And Nneka went along with this narrative! Her family must be so proud that for millions of viewers, the Nigerian diaspora in the US will now be reduced to 'Osu' and voodoo.

Robyn going along with this and making herself the focal point of the shrine nonsense -- I can't with this bully. She is laser-focused on hating Wendy. Sometimes I feel sorry for Robyn's marital situation but, frankly, she brings misery and karma upon herself. I hope the Nigerian Miss Dorothy gets invited to reunion to dress these idiots down and speak her piece.

It seems that after the GEB tried, and failed, to take down Karen, that Wendy is the only option they have left. I hope she doesn't go down without a fight.

Robyn deserves all the misery headed her way.

This Nneka seems like a terrible person, so I won't be surprised at anything she pulls.

Ashley should be ashamed of herself. She has no scruples or morals or ethics.

  8. Season 6, the final season, has premiered with the first 4 episodes. The final 6 will be released in mid December.

I have watched all of the first 4 and found myself overcome in a couple of instances. One was a throwaway line by a minor character that meant so much now that The Queen is gone. The other concerned the death of Diana and the particular creative choice that the writers made.

Elizabeth Debicki was absolutely perfect. Flawless. She has set a bar that no actress will ever achieve in portraying Diana. My heart broke for her.

Dominic West was also excellent as Charles. There is a particular scene after Diana has died in which he portrayed this level of grief that was also heartbreaking. Anyone who recalls Diana's death in 1997 will likely agree that he captured Charles' devastation.

The writing was good in that it treated Diana, Charles, and The Queen fairly and none of them were villains. It acknowledged the complexity of their lives intersecting. There is a scene in the first episode of this season where Diana and Charles talk about being brilliant at divorce and I am so glad it was included because not everyone remembers that the last year of Diana's life was harmonious with Charles and there was footage and photographs of the two of them hugging goodbye after an event for William. By that point in time, relations were friendly, which is why Charles was as devastated as he was when she died.

The only thing I think the writers got wrong was their portrayal of Mohammed Al Fayed. The episode devoted to him in the previous season was so excellent that the writing for him in this season felt a bit more of a caricature.

Why oh why, can't some network executive wake up and realize that only soaps will thrive in today's markets? The second highest-rated talk show (syndication) is Kelly Clarkson with just 1.3 million viewers. GH, B&B and Y&R get over 2 million DAILY.

Truly - when you look at what networks and streamers are spending on programming, for dwindling returns, the soaps are clearly the most durable investment. They out-rate most of their competition and are produced for less than their competition and generate content 365 days a year - only news programming can claim the same.

Listen, I *still* don't understand why Nikki would name her son "Nicholas," after how her own father, Nick, had treated her.

Victoria isn't even named after Victor lol At the time she was born, she was believed to be Nikki’s husband, Kevin’s, child, and was named after his grandfather.

Victoria is named after Victor and Nicholas is named after Nicole (Nikki).
I thought it was as simple as that.

I've watched Y&R for decades, and I always assumed that Victor and Nikki were egotistical enough to name their children after themselves - so colour me shocked to learn that's not the case!

I personally wanted Ryan and Jill to have an affair with each other there in the mid-90’s as the sexual tension was through the roof between the two lol. I think the show was going to go there in 1996 but kind of backed off, which is disappointing as it was at time when Jill was having personal issues with Nina and professional issues with Victoria.

I so wanted that to happen because they had real heat and when Jill was coming off her divorce she could have done with a younger man. If Jill had been the spoiler between Nina and Victoria's rivalry over Ryan that would have been fabulous and hilarious.

I had also hoped for the same with Jill and Malcolm. They had some great scenes as friends in the late 90s and early 00s - totally believable chemistry.

I knew the reunion movie was going to blow mighty chunks when they had Krystle overhear one character tell another all about how Alexis and Dex went over the railing at the Carrington mansion and how she killed him when she turned in mid-air and landed on top of him.  First of all, that didn't happen at the mansion; it happened at the Carlton.  Second, writing out Dex that way was just crass, lol.

Right? Like all 110 lbs of Dame Joan would have crushed a stud like Michael Nader? That he and Alexis didn't get a happy ending in the reunion was terrible.

On 11/8/2023 at 6:47 PM, Soapsuds said:

I was hoping they wouldn't bring it up in the movie.

I laughed at the thought/idea of turning in mid air. Who was she? Wonder Woman.😂

And I was huh? When they explained that Dex and Alexis fell at the mansion. Who wrote that [!@#$%^&*]?

Dame Joan loves a good pair of matching cuff bracelets...and is friends with Lynda Carter IRL...so you never know...

Do you think the problem with the repetitive nature of Alexis's stories was a result of John Forsythe's complaints and demands? If Blake didn't have to win every time, there would have been places to go storyline wise. From what I've seen of the first season, I don't see how Blake became the "moral center" of the show.

It certainly didn't help that Forsythe that Blake 1) always had to win and 2) would not screw around on Krystle. Ali MacGraw recounted that Forsythe protested to her and Rock Hudson joining the show, telling the producers that America did not want to see "anyone f-cking around with the Carringtons"

That Blake and Krystle stayed together the entire series really hampered it. They never evolved. Alexis had repetitive storylines with Blake, but her romantic storylines evolved over time with other actors.

One observation: the falsest note in the show is Kelsey Grammar.

In watching the show, which from my view is not very good, it's like Kelsey has forgotten how to play Frasier. When I see Bebe Neuwirth in that scene, she still has Lilith's characterization, whereas Kelsey does not measure up. Of course, nearly 20 years have passed since he last played him, but there's something about the way he's doing it now that falls flat.

The interesting one to see will be how Peri Gilpin fares when she returns as Roz.

  14. And another of the darker episodes. Season 4, episode 17: "A Very Good Year for Murder"

    It features DAYS' Kristian Alfonso.

In the end, Jessica and the police decide to look the other way after the killer confesses before attempting suicide.

Loved how you didn't name one specific storyline - just the entire show.  LOL

I had to laugh - it's so true. The whole show was a fever dream of recycled DAYS storylines circa 1996.

Speaking of DAYS, I nominate the original Princess Gina storyline. It kept going and going with the beginnings with Lily Faversham and Hope, with Hope locked in the turret with Stefano, then Gina shooting at Shawn on the roof of her wedding.

  16. Just saw another of the darker MSW episodes. Season 4, Episode 2, 'When Thieves Fall Out'

It's one of those episodes about people Jessica knows personally and her time as a teacher in Cabot Cove.

No spoilers, but the ending is really good as Jessica basically says she doesn't care that justice was done because the result has hurt her and so many people she cares about.

Bethenny must have been silently seething at Denise's reaction to the Vanity Fair flop article for Bethenny's flop 'reality reckoning.'

And she didn't get the corporate ownership quite right. Vanity Fair is published by Conde Nast which is, in turn, owned by Advance Publications. Advance Publications is a major shareholder of Warner Bros. so it is the reverse of what she said: Warner Bros is partly owned by the same company that publishes Vanity Fair.

The Jossip gossip column said tons negative about both Carolyn Hinsey & Lynn Leahey also if you recall!

Oh certainly. Hinsey, Leahey, and Sloane had apparently made a lot of enemies and once Hinsey was fired there were many clamouring for the ouster of the others.

It took a decade or two, but now it is done.

The In Memoriam segment is going to hit so hard this year :(

It will be a difficult one for any editor/producer to put together.

Jackie Zeman, Andrea Evans, Billy Miller, and Tyler Christopher all dying in the same year, among other talents, has been devastating and each of them is so deserving of being properly spotlighted in the farewell.

If anything, the In Memoriam is the thing I will be watching for.
