  5. Regarding Bill Matthews/ Joe Gallison on AW - Was he fired or did he leave when his contract expired. Just that I find it hard to believe that AW would drop such a popular character unless the actor decided to depart.
  6. Robert J Shaw had worked on soaps as far back as the 50s. Possibly Brighter Day and definitely Love of Life. I think he is regarded as a bit of a 'journeyman' ie he knows the basics and can come up with a year or so of stories and then move on.

  15. In an interview when he was appearing on Valiant Lady, Lawrence Weber mentioned he had previously appeared on Love of Life.
  16. Staats Cosworth and Valerie Cossart were also in the original cast.
  17. 1954 King's Castle Chicago based producer/director Alan Fishburn, serial writer Bess Flynn and Dallas Jones, president of studio that bears his name are behind 'Kings Castle' a syndicated 15 min daily syndicated serial. The plan was to film up to 15 episodes every 2 weeks using local talent. Flynn was behind radios 'Bachelors Children' and planned a TV version to air behind 'King's Castle'

  19. Re Follow Your Heart Howard Erskine left on Oct 53 as he was producing a play that went to Broadway. He was the fiance of Julie and they quickly broke up and was written out. He went on to win a Tony for producing.
