  5. Never thought I would come across actual stills from this show, but here they are! John Rust, Geraldine Fitzgerald and Patty McCormack Embed Comp Kathy Glass and Patty McCormack James Davidson, James Karen, M'el Dowd and Gale Sondergard Barry Ford, Rochelle Oliver, Steven Grover
  6. I wonder if we'll see the episode where Victor spanks Nikki to show her who's boss. This was when Victor moved her onto the ranch on a strictly platonic basis, Nikki was doing her sex kitteen act to break his defences so he decided a little ass paddling was in order! Maybe that tape has been destroyed !!
  7. Terry Lester from a SOD interview in 1981 'I'd like to give some credit to John Conboy. When I came on the show last year they introduced Jack with a whole new storyline and when things didn't work out so well, the writers didn't know what to do with me.So I didn't work for two months. But John kept me on the show and during the writers strike my character began falling into place. Thanks to John Conboy I'm still on the air'. I guess Terry only had contact with Conboy and heard things filtered through him, because surely Bill Bell was making the decisions about who we saw on air. Wonder who wrote the show during that strike?
  8. Julie without Doug was a crummy idea to begin with. At least she should have returned with David (maybe slightly de- aged) with Scotty off at boarding school rather than SORASING another generation. That would have left Scott to return in the later part of the 90's when Julie was more believable as a grandmother. The disrespect shown to the Hortons is a crying shame. Once Mac Carey passed, it was obvious that Frances would one day go also and Doug and Julie should have been elevated to the patriach/martriach roles.
  9. I would say that the show did plan to bring on Spencer (why else would Julie mention him?) but there was a change of heart (or writers)
  10. Re Secret Storm Add Einar Perry Scott - Danny Greer (juvenile delinquent) Scott also played Alan Sterling on Love of Life. These roles were in the 50's so maybe he was briefly the first Alan?
  11. re Tom Hallick add Dr Jasper Crowley - Perfect Friends and Loving Couples 1983 (cable R rated soap)
  12. Some thoughts on the above video The fact that Anita Keal has an hour of Search clips on her website reinforces my belief that there are lot of episodes/scenes from earlier days in the possession of actors and BTS personnel. If only they would be generous enough to share! The production values of SFT at that time pur current shows to shame - the detailed sets/lighting etc The Corringtons were ahead of the game with the voodoo story- by the 80's most soaps were going for these left of center stories, usually to the detriment of the show. I'll give SFT a pass as the got the mood right. I think they went too far in focussing on the Sentells - they needed more of a balance with the regular folk back in Henderson.
  13. It will be interesting to see if MTS addresses any of these castmate issues in her upcoming book... According to Jeanne. Ed Scott seemed to fuel this by focussing way too much on Melody in setting up of scenes and ignoring Jeanne also.
  14. Australian TV to show Classic B&B 50 eps https://tvtonight.com.au/2020/04/best-of-the-bold-and-the-beautiful.html
  15. Casey was mentioned as having breast cancer and Nikki went to see her, I think this was when MAB first took over.
  16. Re Melinda Cordell Add General Hospital - Sgt Tanner b/w 73 - 80 Re Mark Roberts Add Search for Tomorrow
  17. Maybe he had become more accustomed to the rigors of daytime by that stage. Wasn't there some talk that Granger was swiftly dropped at OLTL due to inappropriate behavior towards a younger castmate?
  18. Re Casey, I have in my mind that she randomly appeared in 1989(?) testifying at a trial.I think it was Cricket's rape trial . Out of the blue Dr Casey Reed is called to testify after not being seen for ages. Am I imagining this? Does anyone else recall that?
  19. So true. Edge always had a rep for cheap sets but looking at the August 79 eps the house set had a full staircase leading to a second level, rather than the dinky staircases seen on other soaps (then and now). And April and Drapers home had a period style with a definite flavor, rather than the generic stuff we see now. It's a big beef of mine that todays shows are still writing like its the 80's without the budget to back it up. They need to go back to a more intimate approach.
  20. Billy and Victoria should never have hooked up. Even with the crazy and inconsistent SORASING they belonged in separate age tiers. I remember early Billy Miller and Jack talking to Billy and recognizing his early 'playboy' persona in his younger brother. Miller was totally fine in his initial appearances. Billy/Mac/Chloe had promise but the writing let them down. Billy/Victoria was just some crackpot idea to have Newmans and Abbotts butt heads again.
  21. Thanks for that insight. Yes you're right - had AW had a solid core going into the 90 min and used the expansion to build up the Matthews and Frames and have them as a springboard into new characters it might have had more success. Instead they seemed to write off a bunch of people and replace them with unrelated newbies. Also as you said the logistics played a part - I think I read they had 2 shifts operating. So it was unlikely that an actor would be asked to work both as it would be an extremely long day. Therefore the show operated in 2 halves with little crossover.
  22. Mon Jan 20 1977 All 3 networks covered Carter inauguration 10am - 4pm (CBS gained the best ratings) Football pre-emptions Tues Jan 1 1957 Orange Bowl football Wed Jan 1 1958 Cotton Bowl football Th Jan 1 1959 Orange Bowl/Cotton Bowl football
  23. My apologies for any confusion. I misread my own notes. Those confirmed Cotton Bowl pre-emptions should have been Mon Jan 1 1962 Tues Jan 1 1963 Wed Jan 1 1964 Still checking others... Can confirm that CBS showed Cotton Bowl Fri Jan 1 1960
  24. I'd rather have Billy Miller than JT. His Billy is lifeless and he comes across as older than he needs to be. Billy needs to be taken away from Victoria's orbit but unfortunately they saddled them with those kids.
