I recall she only came on to introduce Jesse. Didn't she die so that Frank would become Jesse's guardian, thus giving him some story and tying the new character to an established one?

That seems a bit similar to what was happening to the Fosters as the show began. Liz and Jill worked menial jobs to support Snapper and Greg through their studies. Did Snapper or Greg ever do anything to thank the women for their sacrifices? Like even a new vacuum cleaner for Liz? Greg especially as he remained single foe several years.

Didn't Janice have to tape scenes that had already been completed with Mary? Either Mary didn't capture the qualities Bell wanted in Leslie or she couldn't cope with the taping schedule... I think many a performer has been dropped because they couldn't remember their lines and held up production.

And Tara should have stuck around (with a better actress)That character had so much potential as Ashlands vengeful/vulnerable ex desperate to hold on to her position and her son. Possible love interest for Nick, Adam etc

Who was Russell Camden? Which story bible was this? Odd that the name Russ/Russell was never used for a character during Bill's tenure considering that he was fond of naming characters for friends and family.

So they got little more than a year out of the Ashland character. That Tuscan wedding was a waste of $$$$ What a waste. He had so much story potential but once he's gone there is no impact on the canvas. Both Sharon and Victoria have been widowed after short lived marriages which severely limits their story options, especially when those marriages were the latest of many. Josh has to go!

The Hendersons did arrive (sans Russell) but never seemed to be presented as a major family.

Lisa had moved on to secret Storm and only played her new role for a short time before the accident. i think Janet was dropped once Agnes Nixon took over. Janet was another of Irna Phillips older single gals who entered into doomed affairs with married men - see Edith Hughes and Kim Reynolds.

The original Matthews girls. Susan Trustman as Pat and Liza Chapman as Janet were frontburner for the first two or so years. Jacquie as Alice was supporting. Susan left show business after AW and Liza died in a car crash after leaving the show. Rare to see a photo of all three

Jacquie is only 30 years old in that clip. To me she looks much older but that's how things have changed over the years. Nowadays, actresses at least a decade older present like this thanks to the botox/fillers and various other treatments. And of course dress a lot younger.

KT was the daughter of director Sam Wood who directed some classic films (Kitty Foyle. Kings Row,Goodbye Mr Chips et al)and had been acting for 40 years or so-she started in radio soaps. Her son Christian Marlowe dabbled in soaps (Love of Life). He ex husband was Hugh Marlowe (Jim Matthews AW and many Hollywood movies in the 50's) So quite the Hollywood family dynasty.

This photo is dated Feb 19 so maybe other dates are incorrect also. I'm also thinking that Neil Sedaka did not perform at Wired for Sound. The presence of Bea Reardon and the maid suggests he was a guest at some other sort of swanky event around that time.

I don't believe that the Meadows adopted Ellen's child -rather just cared for him while Ellen decided what to do. From a 1958/59 synopsis But a new man soon comes into Ellen's life: Dr. Tim Cole, a research colleague of Dr. Doug Cassen. The two have a passionate affair, but Tim is keeping something from Ellen: he is already married to someone else. Ellen soon finds herself pregnant. Since she doesn't want anyone in Oakdale to know she's going to have a baby out of wedlock, Ellen leaves for Columbus, where she stays with Dr. Joe Meadows and his wife. It is there that Ellen gives birth to a baby boy she names James, after her late father. Ellen, who has just given birth to Jimmy, feels betrayed that Tim didn't tell her about his wife, Louise. Therefore, Ellen leaves Jimmy in the care of Dr. Meadows, and she starts dating Burt Stanton, a friend of Jeff's. Ellen and Burt soon become engaged, but Burt breaks the engagement after learning of her affair and baby with Tim. With seemingly nowhere else to turn, Ellen gives up Jimmy for adoption.
