Wasn't it stated that at the show's debut Nov 65 that Julie was 16? This was less than a year later so would Julie have already jumped 3 years in age? Possibly. Would we viewers at the time have been happy about David being killed off?

Of course Falcon Crest had it's own following but CBS never moved it (until the very end)which was a rarity for the times. Even Knots was moved twice to 9pm to try and build another show behind it. Dallas moved to 9pm to open the lead out to Falcon Crest. It wouldn't have been unheard of to move FC to a 9pm slot elsewhere or even 10pm on another night to allow a new show to benefit from the strong Dallas lead in. When FC finished it season in 83,The Mississipi starring Ralph Waite played for 6 eps and ended up in the Top 20. When it was moved to 8pm Tues the following season ,it flopped, but that's another story.

I would love to see the stories that were used during that time.

Even if they didn't kill Chelsea, they could have set something up that she was in the car to at least tie into the Chelsea/Rey coupling they were hinting at. That would have given some follow through with that story thread. As it is they spent weeks building to that and nothing eventuated. Looking back there was no reason for Sharon and Rey to be married in the first place. it would have been natural for both of them to be gun shy of marriage and that could have played into their relationship. Imagine if Sharon had finally agreed to marry Rey just before he bit the dust. Now Sharon has yet another marriage under her belt. Maybe it's time for Nick and Sharon to marry, be happy and deal with other stuff.. Go with the 'search for Sharon's dad story'. Re Mrs Martinez-is the budget that tight that she couldn't be seen every few months and have a couple of lines?

John was new to the canvas and maybe they tested John and Andrea before moving him to Eunice. Then they had Stephanie arriving soon, so Andrea was superfluous, especially with Len and Patti gone. Then Len and Patti returned. Did Andrea get an exit story?

James was Terry's brother, not Jay's. James's last name was Foster. He had returned from Vietnam, and was at Henderson hospital. Another patient had a heart attack, and James flashed back to his experience in Vietnam, where he had been a medic, and he saved the man's life. Impressed with James' skill and decisiveness, Bob Rogers took James under his wing, encouraging him to enter the newly created physician's assistant program. When Carl Devlin murdered Frank Ross, James came under suspicion for the crime. Jay, a police lieutenant, worked with Scott to prove his brother-in-law's innocence. Elsewhere, Jay and Terry were buying a house, but their loan application was denied. They sought Kathy's legal assistance, because they felt that discrimination played a role in their denial, as their combined incomes should have ensured approval. Kathy and Doug Martin came to blows over the case, as Doug insisted that the bank president was not racist. These plots played out along with the Linda Bove deaf story. Shortly after the writer's strike ended, within three months I would estimate, the Benjamins vanished from the canvas. Presumably, they continued to live offscreen in Henderson. Linda, of course, married in the storyline, and she and her new husband were shipped out, too.

In 25 years Bill Bell did one 'doppelganger' story with Marge impersonating Katherine. And one twin 'double' story Blade and Rick. Post Bell there was Sheila/Phyllis, Jack/Marco, Will/Jeffrey, Cassie/Mariah, Hilary/Amanda,Cane/Caleb, John/Alastair, Carmen/Ines and probably others I've forgotten.

Team Crystal! Back to Devon-those years where he was recurring and hardly used would have been the time to recast with a sexier, more dynamic actor.

If Chance and Allie grow closer,Abby could turn to Devon. Don't want to see them get married. Too many pointless marriages as it is. Amanda reveals she can't/doesn't want to have children and isn't happy being an instant mom, thus creating conflict with Devon. Imani comes onto Nate, who gives into temptation. Elena finds out and leaves town. Imani thinks she has a clear field with Nate but he and Amanda become closer. Ditch Elena-she's boring and put Imani on contract-much more interesting to have sisters onscreen-has always been a Y&R staple.

At some point Y&R must luck out in casting. I quite like Moses and Faith but they've been given nothing to do. Allie looks promising. Tara was awful. Imani has potential. but again given nothing.

My other thought is that perhaps Dick Trask never made it to air. He may have been cast and his name supplied as part of the original cast, but for whatever reason when the time came to go out live he was not available and Robert Morse was the one to appear as Jerry. A possibility I guess.

Good performers go along way in salvaging otherwise poor storylines. This is where Bryton is a fail for me.Lovely guy, I'm sure but Devon has been as dull as ditchwater forever. Same with Melissa Ordway- she can't rise above the writing for Abby, I guess the older performers had the benefit of good writing and characterizations to entrench their characters. But pretty much anyone introduced in the last decade or so has been a flop. And actors who had a spark-Loren Lott, Zach Tinker were dropped.

But doesn't that reflect real life? So many prominent men have a much younger partner. It's seen as a reward for success. That was the mind set at DALLAS.

Well we would never see the kid anyway... You've almost convinced me on the killing of Abby. But as shown with Dina and now Allie, long lost characters can return or be used for future story. The Ashland/Victoria accidemt story, although somewhat random has at least charged things up. Now they need to decide what to so with the Devon/Abby mess. Maybe they'll all agree to co parent and it will hardly be mentioned. Still think bringing back Danie/Lucy could fire things up. Daniel/Lily/Billy, Lucy/Moses/Faith.

Khan- yes to Chance and Allie, but killing off Abby and sending Ashley crazy again? That's a no from me. Paul/Sharon and another baby? Sorry no. I would accept Paul and Lauren hooking up. Victoria off in her own story with 3 new characters-not happening with today's budget. A recast Phillip - OK.

Although it is commonly stated that Robert Morse originated the role of Jerry, the Variety review of the show has Dick Trask in the role of Jerry. So it seems Trask was the first Jerry, although he may have only lasted a few episodes(or even just one) before Robert Morse took over.
