5 episodes in and still not connecting with the characters/storylines. New episodes return November 9.

Ahh wasn’t a fan Of the Brooke bedroom arc
The best part of it was the Jabot/Newman crossover, which to me was the last good storyline Bradley wrote.

Anyone watch the first episode? It's very late 1990s/early 2000s.

Don't leave, you're one of my favorite posters here.

Heh, when I first read this I was like "wow, Cricket Blair was so unpopular that they wouldn't air the show during the summer when she was on, Terry Lester would have loved that" until I realized you were talking about the sport.
You are killing me BoldRestless. Keeping it real here, whenever any episodes from Summer 1986 to end of 1989 surface, I skip all the Cricket scenes.

From what I've read online, Y&R began in Australia in 1974 and in New Zealand in 1977 and the episodes started from the beginning in both countries. Did the Australian broadcasts have breaks and that's how they ended up more than one year behind?
Blog post about Y&R's broadcast history in Canada: MarkH's Soap Musings: Canada: Why does Y&R have a late timeslot and day-ahead episode? (markhsoap.blogspot.com)

@yrfan1983 I think this was a rewrite so there would be a "who's the daddy" storyline.

1984/1985 season was the peak of the big four primetime soaps. It wasn't a good idea for CBS/ABC to launch any primetime soaps after that season.
1985/1986 was when the big four starting going down and they really should have been done by 1987/1988.

@BoldKara If the YouTube videos you're watching have the CC option, the foreign language captions can be translated to English.

Keeping with this week's episodes, some Y&R stars shared their real-life wedding photos.

@YRfan23 Noah has been de-aged to pretty much his real time age (24).

Congrats on 20 years, and best wishes for many more.

You'd think Paramount+ would be the natural home for CBS's big three primetime soaps but for whatever reason that hasn't happened. Dallas full series is on IMDb TV, Falcon Crest first four seasons are on Amazon, and Knots Landing is nowhere to be found.

It does have a certain clearinghouse sale feel.
Like I said before, Y&R has gone into budget mode.
If this was 10-20 years ago, we'd probably get an Italy remote. The last remotes I remember were New Orleans 2010 and Paris 2008.

@Frank2803 @Joseph Terry Lester's Jack and JR were both always looking for their father's love and approval.
Sort of a spinoff of the original topic, but how many of the JR copies had their own Sue Ellen copies? Julia Newman is the first Sue Ellen copy that comes to mind.

That was CBS' doing who orchestrated Maura West's hiring via Sony Pictures Television. I don't believe West went to The Young and the Restless simply because Paul Leyden was in a short-term role, or because Hogan Sheffer was there as co-head writer. Not to mention, West had already begun filming as Diane before Leyden even began filming as Blake. West debuted in October 2010. Leyden debuted in November 2010.
CBS didn't want to lose Maura West to ABC or Days, that's why she was brought on to Y&R. Diane was the wrong role though. I thought Maura would've been better suited as a Grace recast.

So, as of 1312, I don’t like Lane Davies version of Ridge. He was very miscast and I’m ready for him to wrap it up haha. He’s not a bad actor and I wouldn’t hate him on the show but he just isn’t Ridge. He’s too old and the whole atmosphere is off…
Lane Davies is only two years older than Ronn Moss, so not that big an age gap.

I can't believe that by next spring B&B will have had a longer run than Another World on US network television and by next summer B&B will have had a longer run than Search for Tomorrow on US network television.
Funny thing is, both B&B and Another World have a similar trajectory. Good for most of their first 15 years, not so good for the remaining 20 years.

1000% accurate.
Wasn it actually one of the reasons (making Thorne a sexier lead) Thorne was recast in the first place or did Trachta leave of his own accord and they just went that route for the recast?
From what I remember the recast happened because Bradley was going to pair Thorne/Taylor but didn't think Jeff Trachta was handsome enough to be a romantic leading man opposite Hunter Tylo.

During the first half of the 1980s, Y&R cast several former Days actors that worked with either Bill Bell or H. Wesley Kenney on Days: Margaret Mason, Peter Brown, Suzanne Zenor, Mark Tapscott, Patty Weaver, Tracey Bregman, Susan Seaforth Hayes. Bill Bell would later cast Peter Brown on B&B. Also K.T. Stevens was cast on Y&R in 1976 after previously being on Days during the Bill Bell years.
B&B's original cast had actors Bill Bell worked with on Y&R (John McCook, James Storm, Lauren Koslow) and Days (Susan Flannery).
Tom Langan cast several 1980s Y&R actors on Reilly's Days: Deborah Adair, Eileen Davidson, Nick Benedict, Jaime Lyn Bauer, Lauren Koslow.

Y&R feels so hollow and empty right now. The last episode I remember really enjoying was the 12000th episode and that was almost a year ago.

Watched the first three episodes and somehow I don't feel drawn to any of the characters/storylines.

40 years ago this month, Victor saw Nikki climbing that pole and Genoa City would never be same. Bill Bell may not have intended for Victor and Nikki to be Y&R's supercouple but that's what they became.

If this show was on cable/streaming, f-bombs and s-bombs would be dropped left and right.
