  1. The more I think about it, I'd guess the 1985 favorite was Deidre Hall as supercouple Days was going strong. Robin Strasser won three years earlier but the 1985 nomination was during One Life to Live tanking era (from the 1980s Ratings thread One Life to Live was tanking from when Y&R moved past them for #3 in 1984 until Andrea Evans return in 1985). I broke down Elizabeth Hubbard losses in the As the World Turns thread but I think she had the same issues as Susan Lucci, the submissions were not so great. As for Susan Lucci, the losing streak actually boosted her profile. Even those who never watched All My Children or daytime at all knew who she was. The losing streak also played a part in bringing an audience to the Daytime Emmy broadcasts. It's no wonder the Daytime Emmys stopped being relevant once the streak was over and it's also telling that Susan Lucci was the only Daytime Emmy winner who's win got a People cover story.
  2. We already know Marcus indulged. Maybe Jody likes Marcus for his access to the finer stuff. Larsa still trying to snag a baller, which is just ridiculous at her big age. She got half of Scottie Pippen retirement fund in their divorce plus she apparently has family money so I don't think she's hurting for cash.
  3. I wonder who was the favorite for 1985 Lead Actress. Does anyone know what episodes Kim Zimmer submitted for 1986 when she lost to Erika Slezak? The 1986 Daytime Emmy broadcast showed no clips for Lead Actress.
  4. GL was so unstable after Nancy Curlee left the writing team in March 1994. A series of writers until Megan McTavish and her run was July 1995 to October 1996. The EP swap from JFP to Michael Laibson in May 1995 and his run was until December 1996. GL entered cancel territory in 1995 and 1996 many consider GL's nadir.
  5. Clifton Davis is almost 80 and he has aged well.
  6. Are you checking for Clifton Davis? 😲
  7. Michael Crawford arc was 1986-1990 I believe. I agree that he was pretty much replaced by John Silva as the go-to lawyer in town. Y&R lawyers in the 1980s were Greg Foster, Mitchell Sherman, Tyrone Jackson, Michael Crawford, Glenn Richards, John Silva. Then in the 1990s Cricket became lawyer Christine and Michael Baldwin arrived.
  8. Can't say I'm surprised re Bea Arthur/Betty White beef. Watch Betty White 1986 Emmy win and when the camera pans to Bea Arthur she does not look happy. Oddly enough, Bea Arthur was close friends with Angela Lansbury and they seem like the two most unlikely people to have a friendship. From what I've seen online, their friendship began when they both starred in the 1966 Broadway production of Mame and lasted until Bea's death.
  9. Forget "what is this mess", I'm like "make that s--- make sense".
  10. Has it ever been said that Kat was waiting for a ring before giving up the goodies? I really hope that BtG doesn't go the prized virgin heroine becomes a rape victim route with Kat like Y&R did with Cricket and B&B did with Caroline. At least As the World Turns didn't have Lily raped, but Lily rushed into her first time and I also hope Kat doesn't rush into her first time.
  11. I loved Robert Calhoun run (June 1989-July 1991) and it was his run that got GL to finally hit its stride after some pretty bad years. Unfortunately the ratings dropped during his run and that will forever disappoint me.
  12. Sometime in the 1980s, sneak watching Y&R on a school break. I loved The Price is Right growing up so that naturally made me curious about the show that came on after. My 1980s school break memories of Y&R are mostly of the summer social issue storylines, cringy Danny concerts, and Cricket eating the show.
  13. Thank you for posting the excerpts. I thought GL got better after Kim Zimmer 1990 departure (at least until Summer 1992), but unfortunately the ratings until Summer 1991 did not reflect the quality of the show.
  14. That's unfortunate.
  15. I do too. Andre is all up in his feelings and is so ready to move past booty call hook ups and the friends with benefits zone. Dani is holding herself back but she still doesn't realize that what's good for her is right in front of her face. Andre the hotness of BtG. Andre/Dani off the charts heat generating romantic chemistry. Love scenes set to an R&B slow jam. They fight with as much passion and heat as they love. Andre/Dani are the soap couple I didn't know I needed. No. Chelsea knows what's up. I loved her grin today when she walked in and saw Dani and Andre together.
  16. Not every day, but I admit there's been more garbage time than good stuff.
  17. Today's show I was like "what is this mess?"
  18. Hahahaha, dead.
  19. I had a feeling SF retirement was going to overlap w/ the 25th anniversary which it almost did. SF smartly walked away on her own terms and Stephanie got a proper sendoff fitting of the show's matriarch.
  20. IKR. Vanessa is leaning more towards nasty ho than thirsty thot.
  21. Thanks for the context on the clip in the broadcast. Does Kim Zimmer write about some of the years she lost (1986, 1998, 1999) or wasn't nominated (1988 and 1989).
  22. With all this talk about 1986, does anyone know what episodes got Kim Zimmer the 1987 Lead Actress Emmy? The win is here 1987 Daytime Emmy's--Kim Zimmer Wins
  23. 100% this. Three from the southeast: Brandon Claybon (Tennessee), Sean Freeman (Alabama), and Jibre Hordges (Georgia).
  24. Where is the garbage can emoji when we need one?
