@soapfan770 Are you thinking of Carrie Genzel? She was rumored to be a Victoria recast in 1999 in case contract negotiations with Heather Tom fell through.

Y&R to air classic episodes
I remember reading that Jennifer Gareis originally auditioned for Victoria but was cast as Grace instead. I can't think of any other soap names that would have been potential Victoria recasts in 1997. Some soap names thrown around for Victoria in 2004/2005 were Sarah Brown and Christie Clark. There was a 1990s Y&R trivia book that mentioned Alison Sweeney auditioned for Victoria in 1990.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Part of why the first half of 1997 was a lull is that there were a few recasts: Victoria, Phyllis, Grace. I can't remember if Cassie's first episode has the first Grace.

Y&R to air classic episodes
This was the 1992 Lead Actor race: Peter Bergman, David Canary, Nicolas Coster, A Martinez, Michael Zaslow. David Canary had won 1986, 1988, 1989 Lead Actor so there was some voter fatigue there. A Martinez won 1990 Lead Actor plus Santa Barbara was on it's last legs so that also discounts Nicolas Coster. Michael Zaslow was Guiding Light's first Lead Actor nominee and it was rumored that GL submitted not very good episodes for him. Based on all those factors, one can see how PB won. That I don't know.

Am I the only one who was not riveted by that scene? Jack is just yelling. I chalk up PB's first two Emmy wins to weak competition in the Lead Actor races. Cricket was introduced in 1983 as part of the summer story and she was also a part of the summer stories in 1984 and 1985. As we all know, Lauralee Bell joined the cast full time in Summer 1986 and proceeded to eat the show for the remainder of the 1980s. On to today's classic. Shemar at his peak hotness, be still my heart 🤤 🥰

Y&R to air classic episodes
If my calculations are right, the SOD recap from their July 31, 1984 issue would cover the weeks of July 2-6; 9-13, 1984. The SOD recap from their July 17, 1984 issue would cover the weeks of June 18-22; 25-29, 1984. I think the upcoming 1984 episode is where Victor is reunited with his mother. Global update. Wednesday Global/Thursday CBS is 4738, original airdate November 15, 1991.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I've fallen down the rabbit hole of looking at ratings, EP, HW, time slot history for CBS's daytime dramas. For As the World Turns, I looked through 1978/1979 (the year they lost #1) to 1994/1995 (the year of OJ and P&G's EP swap) and I compiled this history. 1978/1979: 8.2 (4th). Collier in August 1981. 1981/1982: 7.4 (tied w/ Y&R for 5th). EP change from Fred Bartholomew to Mary-Ellis Bunim in October 1981. HW change from Tom King and K.C. Collier to Jerome and Bridget Dobson in January 1982. 1982/1983: 7.6 (5th). HW change from Jerome and Bridget Dobson to Carolyn Franz and John Saffron in May 1983. 1983/1984: 7.9 (6th). Co-HW change from Carolyn Franz to Tom King in December 1983. From some further research, the big ratings drop seemed to start in the mid-1980s. 1979/1980: 8.3 (5th). HW change from Jerome and Bridget Dobson to Douglas Marland in December 1979. Time slot change from 2:30 pm ET to 3 pm ET on February 4, 1980. Michael Zaslow departs in April 1980. 1980/1981: 8.2 (4th) 1981/1982: 8.0 (4th) 1982/1983: 7.4 (6th). HW change from Douglas Marland to Pat Falken Smith in October 1982. HW change from Pat Falken Smith to L. Virginia Browne in November 1982. EP change from Allen Potter to Gail Kobe in February 1983. HW change from L. Virginia Browne to Richard Culliton and Pamela Long in February 1983. 1983/1984: 8.1 (5th). Pamela Long becomes sole HW in September 1983. Kim Zimmer joins the cast in November 1983. Beverlee McKinsey joins the cast in February 1984. 1984/1985: 7.5 (4th) 1985/1986: 6.8 (6th). EP change from Gail Kobe to Joe Willmore in January 1986. I enjoyed the Robert Calhoun era but for whatever reason, there was a ratings drop during his tenure. 1988/1989: 6.2 (7th). Robert Calhoun takes over as EP in June 1989. 1989/1990: 5.4 (tied w/ Days for 7th). Kim Zimmer departs July 1990. 1990/1991: 5.2 (tied w/ Days for 7th). HW change from Pamela Long to Nancy Curlee in January 1991. Big cast purge during January and February 1991. JFP takes over as EP in July 1991. JFP got the ratings up briefly but the momentum didn't last. 1991/1992: 5.6 (5th). Beverlee McKinsey departs August 1992. 1992/1993: 5.4 (7th). Maureen Bauer killed off January 1993. Buzz arrives March 1993. 1993/1994: 5.4 (8th). Nancy Curlee leaves as HW in March 1994. 1994/1995: 4.4 (8th). The year of OJ. JFP leaves as EP May 1995.

Behind-the-Scenes Feuds & Drama: TV’s Most Dysfunctional Sets
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Janet Hubert's beef with Will Smith and Alfonso Ribiero. What I haven't been able to find out is if anyone from Family Matters had beef with Jaleel White when the show became more focused on Urkel than the Winslows.

Mark Derwin was shady about his time at Y&R. I wonder how much of the well-known BTS drama he witnessed during his time there (Summer 1989 to Spring 1990). I didn't know Jocelyn Seagrave was on Days not long after GL. She was shady about her time at Days (well it was the Reilly sci-fi years) but surprisingly no mention of that 1997 Aaron Spelling Fox show Pacific Palisades.

Vanessa Prentiss was the OG Stephanie. Even though the 1981 rebroadcast was part of a Victor/Nikki theme week, it was Vanessa that stole the show. I would love to see more episodes featuring Vanessa.
