  1. We all know Y&R has issues BTS, but I don't think rampant substance abuse was one of them. I figure Bill Bell probably heard about what was going on BTS at ABC/P&G during the 1980s and wasn't going to allow that at his shows. BB strikes me as the type that would have a zero tolerance policy at his shows. Remember JC went to rehab in the 1980s and it was also rumored BB fired B&B's first Thorne due to substance abuse.
  2. OMG I can't wait for next week 😍
  3. I remember Marguerite Ray appeared in the Y&R E! True Hollywood Story segment about BD so I think she was in the list of those that had beef w/ BD. Someone needs to compile a "who's had beef with whom" chart for Y&R 🤣
  4. At the time of the Mamie recast, Marguerite Ray was 59 and Veronica Redd was 41. Veronica Redd is about a decade older than both Tonya Lee Williams and Victoria Rowell, and 20 years younger than Norma Donaldson, who arrived later that year as Mamie's sister/Olivia and Dru's mother Lillie Belle.
  5. Dru, Olivia, Sheila arrive in May 1990 and Mamie is recast that same month. Dru and Sheila's first episodes were online years ago, but I don't think Olivia's first appearance has surfaced online.
  6. Cassandra reminded me of those film noir shady ladies. The murder mystery story started good but it dragged on too long; I remember it going on for about a year.
  7. After a best of Queen Stephanie week, there should be a best of Sally Spectra week. It was Sally's arrival that was the turning point of B&B.
  8. My online watching for the first time was episodes from September 1992 to March 1994 (I watched Spring 1989 to Summer 1992 both live and online). After Maureen's death, it was the Buzz hour. I stopped my online watching when I got to Nancy Curlee's last episode.
  9. Those four are the Abbotts to me. Y&R made a big mistake killing off John Abbott, he was the heart of the family. I still miss Terry Lester. I often wonder how he would've played Jack's 1990s storylines, if he would've gotten a Lead Actor Daytime Emmy after his 4 consecutive 1980s nominations, and if he would have eventually left Y&R before the end of his life. Much like the original families, the Abbotts were almost all recasts less than a decade into their introduction, yet Bill Bell kept the Abbotts on instead of replacing them with a new family.
  10. All hail Queen Stephanie. I want a week of her best bitch slaps from 1987 to 1999 🤣
  11. I remember Leanna disappearing without any explanation in early 1992 but Barbara Crampton remained in the opening credits until that summer I think. I don't remember Leanna returning until 1998 during the Victor/Diane divorce.
  12. CBS Daytime on the whole was so awesome in the late 1980s/early 1990s. There was the game show block and all four daytime dramas were amazing to watch. OMG, I can't believe we get to see an early 1980s episode! An all Victor week should include EB's first episode, Victor sees Nikki at the Bayou, EB's first scenes w/ TL and ED. I never thought much of Mark Derwin's acting on Y&R and then a few months after his role on Y&R ends he shows up on Guiding Light as a detective. Talk about contrasts in characters LOL. It was surprising to me how he became so popular on GL, with winning a 1993 Soap Opera Digest Award for Hottest Male Star (he beat Antonio Sabato Jr. for that award) and being nominated for Lead Actor at the 1993 Daytime Emmys.
  13. Had no idea. Now I'm embarrased. Other storylines from the lull period: A new chemist at Jabot was to be a love interest for Ashley but that pairing tanked; I can't remember the character's name but the actor was the same one who was Shawn Garrett a decade earlier. There was also little Daniel getting meningitis that lead to Danny and Phyllis getting together, and Cassie's arrival. By the second half of 1997 things starting picking up (Olivia and Malcolm's wedding, the custody battle for Daniel, Victor's pursuit of Diane) and that lead to an excellent 25th anniversary year in 1998.
  14. Scott Reeves is almost 54 and hasn't aged well at all. I can't believe he's about to be a grandfather.
  15. I think Nikki eloped w/ Josh in the fall of 1996. From what I remember, Nikki thought she and Victor were getting back together but then Victor went to Kansas to see Hope and little Adam (I think this was when Cliff was killed) and so a disappointed Nikki turned to Josh. I didn't like that quadrangle storyline. Scott Reeves and J. Eddie Peck were not prize catches to me. I remember Fall 1996 through to the first half of 1997 as being a lull period. I was watching once or twice a week and keeping up online and through soap magazines.
  16. Well BD had beef w/ almost everyone LOL. I recall that BD was quite vocal about the nepotism at Y&R in the mid to late 1980s so maybe that's where the rumors of beef w/ MTS come from.
  17. JC wrote about the beef w/ MTS in her memoir and The bigger question is, who didn't have beef w/ MTS? There's beef that's been documented in print/on social media (JC, VR) and beef that's been rumored (BD, RL).
  18. I remember Casey as part of Cricket's rape storyline and that was her last appearance until Nikki was in the hospital after being shot in 1998. I read that too, and maybe that was why Casey was absent for almost 10 years.
  19. I grew up in a suburban area and a big adventure for me was going to the big city downtown and visiting the flagship locations of major department stores. There was something so glamorous about the cosmetic/skin care counters and the clothing/shoes/purses sections in the downtown stores that you didn't experience in the suburb mall locations.
  20. @DRW50 Thanks for posting that video. With everything that's been going on, I've been cooking a lot more at home. In the last month, I've used half my freezer items and used a good amount of my cupboard and fridge items. I don't trust drive thrus, take out, delivery right now, although I admit I miss McDonald's, Starbucks, pizza, Chinese food, sushi.
  21. Wow, even upscale retailers aren't immune. With Neiman Marcus struggling, I wonder what the future holds for their fellow upscale department stores Bloomingdale's, Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue. I consider Macy's more mid-tier; below the upscale department stores but ahead of JC Penney/Sears.
  22. I think that was because of the MTS/JC beef at the time. Notice how Nikki and Katherine were totally absent from each other's lives in the early 1990s when they both went through some heavy stuff (Nikki losing two children and her substance abuse, Katherine's cancer scare).
  23. Bryan Buffington was so little and cute when I watched GL live. I can't believe he turned 40 earlier this month. Yikes, where has the time gone. Kimberly Simms was the only Mindy I saw live; the two after her I saw online. I've often wondered what happened to her acting career. Her name was mentioned in the soap press as a potential recast for some big roles in the mid-1990s (Jennifer on Days, Ashley on Y&R, Vicky on Another World) but nothing ever came of it.
  24. #5939 could be where Phyllis crashes Paul and Christine's honeymoon.
  25. It's a combo of good genetics, good health, good skin care, and good plastic surgery.
