You're welcome. I recall three episodes that could have been homages to other CBS dramas: A Very Good Year for Murder (season 4), Northern Explosion (season 10), Crimson Harvest (season 11).

Loving was head-to-head with the second half of The Price is Right. Ryan's Hope was head-to-head with the first half of Y&R which was blowing up in 1983. Neither ABC show had a chance against the CBS powerhouses.

One Life to Live was fortunate to be hammocked between All My Children and General Hospital. It's the daytime equivalent of a time slot hit.

July 6, 1983 Y&R Nikki learns Victor is alive. That scene was chosen by Melody Thomas Scott as her most memorable moment for the 50th anniversary clip compilation.

You're welcome. It was sad. I felt so bad for her. Angela carried CBS primetime on her back through some pretty awful years from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s, and it was terrible the way she was treated at the end after all she did for CBS. Murder, She Wrote and Angela deserved to have a proper farewell for the final season instead of being sabotaged. Les Moonves will forever be on my s--- list for the sabotage of Murder, She Wrote.

Les Moonves knew exactly what he was doing when he moved Murder, She Wrote to a time slot that had been a dead zone for CBS since Fall 1985. At a time when CBS could not afford to have any tank jobs, he straight up sabotages their only scripted show that was in the 1994/95 Top 10.

@YRfan23 In the promo for Dina's death, it was mentioned Dina arrived May 27, 1983 so I took that date as Marla Adams debut. Capitol not full clearance either so that maybe played a part. I believe we'll see near the end of Capitol's run that their clearance dropped.

Unpopular opinion here, but I loved the episode from the final season that shaded Friends. Mainly because I never liked Friends anyway. After seeing that 60 Minutes interview from 1996 where Angela Lansbury tore up when talking about the end of Murder, She Wrote, I totally get why the final season had episodes that took swipes at both Friends and CBS. Angela did not give a f--- about being elegant and classy with her shade. She was hurt and rightfully so and I don't blame her for reacting the way she did. That final season move by CBS to Thursday 8 pm wasn't a tank job, it was straight up sabotage.

Y&R is getting close to being cemented in the Top 3. One year of Capitol and to me it seems like it hasn't shown much growth. So its not doing the job of competing with ABC, but its doing the job of being a placeholder/time filler. GL in the early days of Gail Kobe/Pamela Long looks like its improving from the slide after Douglas Marland left.

Another big wedding: April 13, 1984 Y&R Victor and Nikki. Y&R rating that week (April 9-13, 1984) was posted earlier in the thread, 7.9/31, but I don't know where Y&R finished among the soaps that week.

That intro date seems to be the most reported. 1980 was CBS's year of the villain. February 1, 1980 As the World Turns introduces James Stenbeck as their new villain. February 8, 1980 Y&R introduces Victor Newman as their new villain. April 1, 1980 GL Roger fall off the cliff in Santo Domingo.

Days moving up. Supercouple era must have started. Ryan's Hope slipping. No match for Y&R. Y&R about to be cemented in the Top 3. GL Gail Kobe and Pamela Long arrived in February 1983. We'll see their impact soon.

I'm only really familiar with the Marland years so when we reach September 1985 through the rest of the 1980s I'll be sure to have some for you Would you happen to know Anthony Herrera debut? I've seen it online as February 1, 1980.

When it comes to NBC soaps attracting the middle school/high school demographic, it started with supercouple era Days, continued with Reilly Days, and then Passions. The thought process probably was get viewers while they're young and they'll stay on. Think about it, the middle schoolers and high schoolers that came on board at the beginning of supercouple era Days are now in their 50s. I'm sure a good number of them are still watching.

June 28-July 2, 1999 was NBC daytime break for Wimbledon.

1982/83 seasonal ratings has Y&R in 4th, behind the ABC big three. 1983/84 seasonal ratings Y&R moves past One Life to Live for 3rd. Sometime during 1983 we'll see Y&R move ahead of One Life to Live.
