  1. I will have to look - I didn't know Serena played. She had a rough round against Tan at Wimbledon but it was a long match at least. Had done doubles at Eastborne. She just played the Canadian and won a match before losing to Bencic and it wasn't that bad. So I get people saying she hasn't played in a year or two years or whatever - but...she has played a few things now. I just think Raducanu is way overrated so to me a 6-0 looks bad. I kind of thought Serena may be holding back a little bit and she had one more run in her that would be a surprise, but I think I'm wrong now. Aside from that I was watching a match recently - may have been California while the DC tournament was going on? But anyway it was Gauff and Lindsay was calling the match....and I wondered what Lindsay was smoking. She said a few times about Gauff being a favorite going into the US Open. Sorry Lindsay - I don't know who you're watching. She's been on the upswing and it's certainly approaching time for it to happen if it's going to happen and it's RIPE to happen given no one is blowing people off the court in the women's game right now - and Swiatek I thought would be the definite indestructible player after Barty left....but long story, there's an opening for sure in the women's game, and Gauff should walk right through the door...but the favorite or front runner? Uh, no. Put the weed down Linds. LOL.
  2. It might be in this thread or somewhere else, but I've read it's not that they wiped them or disposed of them. I have read in multiple places that almost nothing is left from the 60's and 70's because they TAPED over them. They didn't just keep taping on new tapes....they would actually re-use tapes from about 5 to 10 years previous rotating them, just because of 'unnecessary' expense of constantly new tapes. Crazy, but that could be true. The only thing that makes it seem possibly NOT true is just honest to goodness reasoning - OR the fact that every now and then especially on P&G shows, we would see flashbacks or moments from a decade or more ago. Not often but some. And sometimes it could be an obscure scene that you would think - now why would they have saved that little scene? Which makes me lean toward someone somewhere has ALL of them given they used to do flashbacks. Or, in the case of Guiding Light (don't know if they did for World Turns), but GL had a series of tapes of 'best of' Reva Shayne moments, and I think there was one for Roger too. I don't own any of those and so I don't know what is on them....were they whole episodes or just a snippet tape with narration of each piece. But GL HAD to have had a decent history saved to have made some of those types of series tapes.
  3. This all reminds me of a poster on another board years ago, and I'm not so sure she wasn't 100% correct. At times, she was kind of slammed on that board for being a little 'out there' with comments and stuff. But - I was on that board regularly in its heydey, and even kept my same name/handle when I found this board. Maybe this board was around then too, I just wasn't here. But - that board I am talking about was mediadoman.com. The poster I'm referring to was 'Rosebud'. She said numerous times - more times than you could count - almost on a DAILY basis when the subject of P&G and soaps would come up. She was part of an organized group that 'saved' Another World on several occasions. And she said she spoke to people VERY high in the chain at P&G and she was told - that P&G wanted OUT of the soap business COMPLETELY - and wanted NOTHING to do with it. The people she spoke with stated on numerous occasions and their opinion was that Soaps were done, there's no reason to keep it going, and NO one is interested. They don't even want the hassle of licensing or rights or ANYTHING. And this was why it was so important to save Another World. Because when it's gone, the remainder will not be far behind. I think about it often. And while she may not have been 100% correct - since they DID run AW on other channels after cancellation - her story and posts definitely are more correct than not. The other thing she said ALL the time was that P&G thinks they know it all - they know the best - because they almost single handedly INVENTED soaps as we know them now. And since THEY know best, NO one could possibly know anything MORE than they do. And when they're done - they are done - because SOAPS will be done.
  4. Well it was kind of writing on the wall. I would have felt differently had she returned and mowed players down all the way to the finals repeatedly, and it's not that I think she can't do it or doesn't have the will to do it - it's that she's 40 and a mother. It's one thing to be a mother at 28, or 30, or 35 and do what we were expecting of her. Because at times she's been superhuman almost. But age gets you no matter who you are. Even when you think you know, I've just heard it too many times....and you don't. You don't know that motherhood will change you and to what extent. I think the competitive will was there - you can see it when she plays. But I feel like watching her is somewhat watching myself as I aged - and I always said, I like to win. I like playing, but I like winning. And when I feel like I'm not doing it at the skill level I did - I won't want to do it. I can't stand remembering what I was and comparing it to what I can do now. I feel like that's where she's at.
  5. Thanks for posting. I agree - I was still on the ledge of feeling badly for her (kind of over it really), but this did it. Plenty of money for retirement and lifelong therapy. In the line from Truvy and Steel Magnolias, and a very well known phrase - come down off the cross Naomi, someone needs the wood.
  6. Watching the DC Final. I never paid attention that Kyrgios has only won 7 titles? And Nishioka would make a pretty drag queen.
  7. I don’t know why I remember on one of the old boards a graphic someone posted with the logo adjusted to read As the Molly Turns because of the period of time the show was Molly 24/7
  8. Oh wow....he does look like her. I didn't know her daughter was on tour. I always liked Hana and felt a little badly for her. Kind of in a Novotna kind of way.
  9. Very interested now...hmmmm...a brother and a sister with a Tennis Mom....
  10. Is it Brandon Holt (Tracy Austin)? Her son played at USC I think. I would have guessed Jagger (Lindsay Davenport) but I think he’s only like 14 or 15 and I’ve seen him and that’s not him. I think he played the Orange Bowl
  11. Thanks! I want to see this. Because I think it might be the look that I caught when I passed by one day. And I said out loud...oh God don't say anything. They're probably going to forget you were the guy that was Adam and was basically married to Eve in a cabin for months because she said you two were so in love and just take your 'medicine' (which was what, Tylenol?)....???? So this wolf-looking woman must be crazy - it's what was crossing his mind by the look on his face, and I said, I cannot even watch this.
  12. I need to read recaps or find clips online. Has Sheila disappeared into the night (again), (yet?)? Or saved someone else connected to the story so that she's redeemed (or not so bad after all)? (again?)?? It's time to put that character out to pasture. Did anyone in LA ever let anyone in Genoa City know (Lauren?) that Sheila is alive (again?) and still doing the same thing (again)?
  13. Darn it. They lost me again. Channel change...tired of seeing Sheila drug, mame, murder, overtake, outsmart, overpower anyone and everyone at this stage at all times. Been there done that.
  14. Very odd. Margo and James were a huge thing. Always wondered that myself.
  15. I’m going to have to tune in now that I see the clips. I’m sure she does. It would be more fun if Bill, Liam and Wyatt are all in on a big gas lighting story to officially finish Sheila off. And let Li kill her at the end lollll
  16. I have to say, and I only check in once and a while, but from the brief things I've seen, it's kind of a breath of fresh air, and not at all (sadly) that B&B has done well at least in recent history. There are no new characters with staying power, so anytime a new character is/was introduced, it was wondering when they would be killed off, or sent on their merry way - the character is just a plot point. Back when Liberty Bibberty was introduced it was kind of sad/useless because you just know he's a goner, of no consequence anyway so who cares. If B&B goes the route of actually having a character going forward, I am shocked and this would be a positive sign that someone finally gets the show cannot be Liam, Steffy, Hope, and Wyatt 24/7. They missed the boat the size of an aircraft carrier with Courtney Hope/Sally....have no idea why that didn't smack someone in the face with such obvious talent.....but maybe this is a sign someone has a brain at B&B.
  17. I remember an interview - and I'm 99% sure it was Marj Dusay...in SOD or another magazine years and years ago - maybe when she was on Guiding Light, and they asked her about Capitol and what it was like in the final days, and how sad it must have been. I remember she said -- well, remember it was taped 2 or 3 months before like every show. So our final days were actually very 'up' and positive...we felt strongly that we were giving it our all and that the performances we were turning in would mean something. We were on an upswing and catching fire and filmed Promotional videos for the show for new commercials and (I think) she said new opening credits. Because we really felt that ABC or NBC would pick us up. I really wish it had happened because honestly, I think Capitol would have fit better on NBC or my better bet - ABC. My sisters were firm, 100% ABC fans in my house, while my Mother and I were CBS. Because one day ABC wasn't on - I don't remember why - but CBS was on. Over a holiday or some special programming ABC did. Well, my sisters checked in on Capitol after that. They liked it. I was the youngest, but thereafter they would check in on Capitol only. Only when we got older did they start watching Guiding Light with me and loved it. For whatever reason, demographically - I know ABC people that would check in on Capitol.
  18. This was worth 100% checking in on this board. I watched for a couple minutes the other day and heard Liam and Bill and Wyatt talking about why isn't Sheila behind bars for everything she's done. I didn't watch anything else but thought - that's been said for 35 years practically. Yawn. But this snippet was worth the visit here. I think the reason I don't care for Quinn/Rena is that they made the whole show about her for a couple years and it was ridiculous. But, I do think she's a decent actress so it's kind of a shame that she was 1-note crazy/cartoonish for years...it set the table for if/when she does have feelings of any kind - I don't care. The impression is spot-on, save a few things that would have been insulting to the actress who plays Donna.
  19. I used to point things out like this on here years and years ago. Much to the hate of the B&B fans. If Daytime had been run like Primetime, B&B would have had its time slot moved or it would have been cancelled very very quickly the way it was handed great lead-ins and LOST that lead-in for the rest of the lineup. The weird thing is, I remember articles talking about B&B beating Capitol or beating the performance that had been there prior. I never understood it. It was a bunch of Bill Bell fans in the media pumping up a show (B&B) that had NOT performed well and there was NO hiding it if you had half a brain. There was NO way to compared B&B to Capitol because to my knowledge, it NEVER HELD the same timeslot Capitol. And for the time it was put in - B&B did NOT perform the way World Turns did. It was such garbage. @DramatistDreamer Yeah, this clip reminded me....I knew it, but had forgotten. Capitol was treated so badly and I think is one of the most underrated shows given the amount of talent they had. I had forgotten they trolled B&B so badly at the end. I still miss Capitol to this day. Out of any cancelled show I truly believe had it held on, given the rise and fight in politics, that people would have watched it, had Capitol hit on the right topics at the right time and gone that route. What an opportunity it would have been to teach people something.
  20. Ugh. I forgot how it all worked out....they were already trolling B&B and pushing it before Capitol was even off the air. I'd forgotten that.
  21. All I know is that I like a good breakfast taco with all the diverse ingredients that you can choose from and I do not know why that's so offensive. Taco does not equal people and it's not demeaning at all to me that Miami and Florida have flowers that are beautiful and breakfast tacos have all kinds of ingredients. Major stretch to be picking at that, when we had a man who insulted people on the daily and a first lady that said she didn't give a &uck about Christmas. That conversation and comparison is over, ain even gonna talk about it with Conservatives. Do not even go there.
  22. I don’t know, but I remember him losing to Murray in best of 3 with 7-6 in there. But he has lost to him. Opelka gets a pass for me for now. Not worthy of HOF at all but I feel like he can play at least. I remember a tournament where he beat a lot of ranked players. I don’t remember Isner ever stringing anything together.
  23. I have always said - he’s a server. If the point starts, it’s over. He’s not even a tennis player to me. It’s the one thing I’ve said positive about Opelka. He does stand a chance if the point starts. Similar but I feel like he can at least play. Hall of fame worthy? He’ll to the No.
  24. I don't know, tight race with Mouratoglou. Which as we know is the 'only' reason for Serena's success. LOLLLLL.
  25. I am male, 50 y.o., and rarely talk about this. But in my life I have known to have both Sensitive and Clairvoyant experiences. I almost never talk about it, not even with close friends or family. On the occasion I have brought it up, it has not been the best received - so I do not. But I have had some very specific things happen, which I wish I had documented, and did not. Others I have told people about verbally, and things have happened, which has well - shut them up or at least made them think twice, and they've brought it up to me on their own at later times. Kind of like "remember when you said XYZ...and then LMNOP happened....?" Me: Yep. Them: "that was really weird". That kind of thing. Anyway, I recently had a very vivid dream, and I have wanted to talk about it. I do not go to people in the occult, fellow clairvoyants, or anything like that. Not even therapy. I've thought about recounting my dream here - and almost did under the Politics thread, because that's kind of what it's about - but did not. I thought maybe to check in here. Apologies if there is another post about something similar here. I looked quickly and didn't see one. I could recount various experiences, but will hold off. As far as this area of life is concerned, I know I'm kind of an outsider. We are typically not male, but rather female when it comes to the world of Clairvoyants/Psychics, etc. I don't actually know what to call what I have specifically because I don't totally fit in any of the specific boxes other than what I believe to be the 'parts of'. But what I have noticed at least as exposure goes - is that I do see males who are gay out there on TV shows and things like that - which has made me wonder. Are we more likely to fall into the bucket of, because I am gay. Anyway. If you're so inclined, let me know and I'd be glad to recount my recent dream here and what I was shown and told.
