Coco is about to be a footnote if something doesn't happen really quick. I said it about 6 months ago - this is the year that something should be happening. I'm not saying wins, but Quarters and Semis very regularly - consistency. And it's not there. I think she's done.

And you know what side the 'convoy' or 'truckers' are on. Coming back to DC again and this time they say they're going to have "teeth" whatever that means. 99% anyway. They are rallying against something - we're just not sure quite what. Last time it was mask mandates which had already been lifted. Except we are pretty sure actually what they want. Now they say Government over-reach. They're against Government over-reach. These are the same people who don't want the Government telling them to get a vaccination. Or to wear a mask, because it's just too much to handle. And they should have as many guns and high powered guns as they want. Gubment get outta my life. But yes, please, Government - PLEASE rule our wombs and tell us we have to have children. That's totally OK. It's sick.

That. I think if things were going of the rails for me - I would have sold a longgggg time ago. Lie about it to friends. Just say - meh, ya know, why not downsize. Not getting any younger, and it's not like we need all this stuff in life. A lot less to think about, a lot less to worry about, I'm downsizing. And really, it wouldn't be a lie. Yes, you had to do it, but....it did make sense, and why not. That's what a reasonable person would have done. I think Robert Downey Jr. just figured it out and got his act together. I was always a fan of him and it was hard to see, and I was glad to see him come out of it.

Usually you kind of have to look at whether something has been sensationalized or overdone. Yikes. From this - not. The wording is just Yikes. Lifestyle commitments??? Translation - you bought a bunch of stuff you couldn't pay for and then hid the fact you couldn't pay for them repeatedly. And were repeatedly not sorry for it and continued to do it. And that is the face of an alcoholic if I've ever seen one - I know because I have mirrors and had to fix that myself. Sad.

Soap Storylines/Moments You Would Have Written Differently
I had all kinds of things in my head that Roger would have said to Maureen. "You've put up with him for a long time for some reason. You've done great raising Michele by the way. You're faced with the evidence of his slap in the face to you every single day. And what did you do? Loved her. You loved Michele because it was the right thing to do. What did Ed do to thank you? What does it look like to you now? But I'm always wrong in this town, I'm the bad guy. We all know that, right? What does it really look like to you now, Maureen? I'm here and you're listening to me right now because you know I'm right." Etc. etc.

Soap Storylines/Moments You Would Have Written Differently
I don't remember every detail of things now. But one I would have done with Maureen is turn to Roger after finding out about the Lillian affair. She was his only friend in town at times and it would have made sense to me. Turn Maureen into somewhat of a bad girl for a brief period. I could just envision scenes between Ellen Parker and Michael Z with him consoling her, and understanding...and making the viewers wonder - is there a good person in there? Is Roger all bad? Or is he using the affair to take a dig or take something from Ed? I could totally see Roger/Michael Z in a conversation with Maureen - are you seeing your knight in shining armor for what he is now, Maureen? Are you sure I slipped from his hands all those years ago in Santo Domingo? He's done this before, with Claire you know. Now Lillian. But he's a great guy, right? Etc. etc. Huge triangle between Maureen, Holly, and Alexandra over Roger.

Not popular because everyone is empathetic and fair, etc. - but I'm all for the ban. I know people can't help what their country does, but in this case, I agree with the Brits. I wouldn't want a Russian winner near the Royal family. I have stopped watching the Capitals (I'm DC, and a huge Hockey fan), but got rid of my Ovechkin jerseys. I think the NHL should have banned them, and that's hard for me to say, but. They should have. He makes his money here, and his wife and child are in Russia, so his money goes home to them. I say no to that. He's also been a supporter of Putin. I know he can't speak out now, and they're probably watching his family, but people have defected under tough situations before, and I don't see them doing it. He needs to go home to Russia and be in the country he loves so much. I just feel that it's one thing to elect the wrong leader and everyone having to deal with it. It's an entirely other thing that the leader orders an attack on innocent people. Ban them. I saw a story that Putin had mentioned Western cancel culture and that it was not fair. Don't know if it's true or not, but it rings true that he would say something like that. To which I say damn right we'll cancel your ass. LOL.

The Talk: Discussion Thread
They have the advantage that there’s nothing left to replace them with. Absolutely nothing. We’re down to Drew Barrymore coming back reduced from 1 hour to 1/2 an hour, no Ellen and everyone already wondering what is going to take up all this space. We’re already facing a threat of 1 hour of B&B lollll

I've heard arguments for both sides and while I understand both - I think I agree with this. Tracy Austin has said similar. Other people are all for coaching and say 'why not', just allow it and be done. Tracy has said on a few occasions on the 'no' side, and I think I understand her the most. It was always part of the sport, the part where you have to do it yourself and be alone out there. Similar in gymnastics and skating only you're not in a competition directly against someone and in the moment, coaching can't help you in those instances anyway - because you have to be able to just do it in the moment. But your coach gives you corrections afterward/after the event/apparatus, whatever it is. If they want to set a specific time aside, like between sets or something then fine. But between games, in between points, no. She mentioned on occasion she'd never have won her 2 grand slams if someone had helped the other player with a few tweaks. It's part of the game. Sometimes you figure it out, sometimes you don't. And if they're not allowing it, then enforce it. I think this is a better idea, and I pretty much never agree with Roddick.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
I decided the few minutes that I've seen here or there (the other day), I outgrew soaps. I can't suspend belief that much and I think that's what it is. I outgrew it, or I've seen it all so it's all stupid now. They'll spend weeks and months wondering who could have done such a thing. Or weeks with Steffy holding complete conversations and then falling off into a mumble when the ask her 'who did it'. SHHHH everyoone.....be vewwy quiet! She's twying to tell us something! While Sheila looks on. Then Steffy will eeek out...."sheeeeeeelaaaaa". And then someone will say something even more stupid "oh my GOD. She wants SHEILA! Oh Steffy thank GOD! Yes, Sheila is RIGHT HERE!" "Sheila, come hold Steffy's HAND, she needs to SEE YOU. Oh honey, thank God. Gag. Yawn. I have outgrown this kind of drivel. The great news from what I read though, is that ratings went up a little - so all the Sheila fans can look forward to her eating the show for the next couple of years with all kinds of stupid silly plots. I've just seen it all and it's 30 years ago. I do need to look up and see when that Brooke episode is supposed to be - I think several of the former men are supposed to be back for something. I'll tune in for that.

My goodness. To think a lot of us, me included, thought the show was bad. Jesus this stands up to be far better than any of them left now on their best days.

ATWT LEGEND KATHRYN HAYS PASSES AWAY
Yep. And when soaps were being tossed aside for Game Shows and Talk shows I said, no one will ever say things like, remember when that woman won the car, remember that time XX said XX on The Talk, etc. There might be some nice memories that someone remembers about such shows and things, but not the way you remember characters on a soap. When you travel far from home, move to a new place, of course there is a familiarity with a show like Price is Right or a talk show. But nothing takes you home like the characters on soaps when they were done well. Those people become family in a way to us unlike anything else. Hays was one of those people that you turned on the TV, no matter where you were in your life, and you were 'home' for a few minutes. We're lucky that we got to see soaps when they were good, and it's sad that only we will remember.

Has someone fallen off of or been pushed off of a balcony or outside terrace or similar place recently? To land and have the camera shot show them laying there with a carefully placed shoe next to the body? That always looks nice, maybe they'll do that.

One time I was watching with my Mom and Kim said to Andy “ Listen Pal…” and Mom said uh ohhhhhh. So true. I wonder how much of that was Kathy inserting her own take.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
I almost wanted to tune in to see if I was right. But I posted this yesterday or the day before. When it comes to anything Sheila everything and everyone is dumbed down. I said, it wouldn't surprise me at all if no one suspected Sheila. You know, because there's no reason to, what's she ever done to anyone right? LOLLL. So dumb. If it happened it's totally par for the course. And toss in some cringeworthy disbelief and tears of how Sheila could do such a thing. Someone posted about introducing her other children - I couldn't care less about B&B at this point, and only tuned in to Y&R recently to see Robert Newman. But more characters related to Sheila is the very LAST thing B&B should be doing. The character needs to be put out to pasture for good. There were other families, other villains that you could have introduced by now, and the Stefano Dimiera/James Stenbecking of Sheila is the last thing any show needs. They had a huge opportunity with the Avants - Sascha being a spoiler, a triangle between Caroline/Maya/Rick...all kinds of directions they squandered. Worst being just a little misunderstanding of Maya

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
Everything you said. I only saw the shooting scene (well part of it), and I don't get the magic of Sheila. Pretty much never have. There's always an element to her that dumbs all other characters down. It would be par for the course that no one even suspects her. Characters continue to interact with her no matter what she's done. But, my measure of a good villain is Roger Thorpe/Guiding Light. That says it all. He pulled awful stuff, but no matter what, there was something that made a lot of people root for him in some way. At the heart he was likeable for some reason, no matter who the writer. With Sheila, it's a cartoon for me. And I just don't care. I didn't watch yesterday, the shooting thing was enough for me to see it's yet another in a long line of dumbing everyone down, plot holes, etc. This has really been my problem with B&B for years and years, not just Sheila. She just makes it worse. I've said before - it's like no one lives in Los Angeles. All of this took place and no one else happened to hear it or see it - except for Deacon stumbling upon the shooting. What? Just like no one drives on the roads of LA. Car accidents happen and there's no one around, and it's right in the middle of the city. Because LA has no traffic, you know? Things like that. I don't know what happened with the booze and the switching of labels, etc. But for the people commenting on what it's like to be an alcoholic, and 'they' just know, etc. Well, I'm a recovering alcoholic, and you're always recovering when you're an alcoholic. I'm right at my 1 year anniversary of rehab. Last fall I was baking, and just not even thinking, and put some vanilla extract into the batter bowl, dripped some, and LICK off my fingers without thinking. BAM. It really is true. All of the stuff I've seen and thought was ridiculous, that what difference would a taste of booze make? It's true, I can assure you all. It was like a vampire and blood if you know what I mean. I quickly drank a ton of water and went for a walk. I do have cooking wine and of course extracts in the house, but I will never forget that mistake. It's real. What someone else said above - about your brain says "hello again friend". 100% accurate. So I guess in general I'm glad I didn't see the bottle or label switching or whatever - I don't think anyone would get it right. Anyway, Sheila at this point is a hard stop for me. If this was the shocking twist I don't get it. When they introduced Finn (I'd seen him maybe 5 times total because I don't watch regularly - maybe 10 minutes once a month by accident) - but it was clear to me he would be a throw-away character.

Oh I'm sure he'll have amnesia but while in the hospital he'll remember the very nice, angelic nurse who comes to visit him in secrecy and nurses him back to health and is his guardian angel. But urges him not to tell anyone because it's their little secret. Or some similar nonsense.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
They had pretty much been shot when I tuned in. But then the angst of her rolling around on the hotel bed mulling over her shooting while she slips into an afternoon nap didn't make me care or want to see what happens with it. Nor Deacon saving the day with a 911 call. And probably leaving the entire cast wondering who on EARTH could have DONE such a thing???! Surely not SHEILA?!! NO way!!! That kind of thing falls in the whatever category for me. Sheila jumped the shark decades ago. She's like that Stefano guy on Days - never watched but seemed like they become a catch-all plot device. No thanks.
