  1. I passed by and saw Steffy wearing houndstooth today. I like houndstooth (I really do, I'm a guy and wear it). But I wonder if that wardrobe person is still there. They announced about 2 or 3 or 4 years ago (I don't remember) someone new, fashion forward, Italian? Taking over wardrobe and how it was going to be excellent. That's when the downhill started that I DO remember when I was watching and the wardrobe was immediately actually barf worthy. In regard to the reports of massive crying on Brooke's part, I haven't seen it, but weren't they kind of always foisting that on Katie? Has Brooke taken over the role of Katie now for the crying department? I was a GL fan and Kim Zimmer/Reva was the appointed cryer for CBS. This sounds like it may be surpassing that territory. In GL's defense, Zimmer was a good cryer. You believed it for sure.
  2. Love Bob Moses - Love Brand New.
  3. I hadn't seen a match in a while and tuned in to Tennis Channel (I think?) to see the match in Monterrey. Madison is back to being Madison. Arm, wrist, hair...some kind of injury.
  4. From yesterday...she's posted a few times now, Andy taking her to appointments.
  5. I didn’t expect to like them but a few things are cute. And not as much $ as I was waiting for. Cheap no but not over the top expensive, and in line with a lot of brands.
  6. This is the one I remember reading about! Thanks!
  7. I never watched AW really, and I'm sure it's buried within this board somewhere, but can someone give me a synopsis that is out there or description...even if you didn't watch AW, I know this is legendary because it's one of those things that everyone (or most people) who were soap fans just know about. But what is the story/background on all of the speculation that happened about - someone lost a baby or the baby died or something, and a character picked up a pillow or doll or something and fans jumped at it, and pointed to it, bringing it up repeatedly - that she must have had twins. There must be a 2nd baby by the way she coddled a doll or pillow. I'm sure someone here knows. What's the story or where can I read about it?
  8. I tuned in briefly today. Blah. I don't know why, I just don't care who ends up with Ridge and it's not making me want to watch again. I'm kind of tired of seeing women fight over men who are flawed and awful also. I think that means I'm in the majority of people who tuned out of soaps all together. Yuck. Adult kids trying to reunite their adult parents. Ick.
  9. I saw something on Twitter yesterday about the Number 1 player returning - ATP tweeted it. People replied...do you not even know? Because there was a picture of Novak. People replied isn't Medvedev #1 now?
  10. I think it's a problem. This is happening in tons of sports, where they're being buried on newish streaming services - like the Olympics and Peacock - but NBC at least did show a lot. Networks, other than Golf, American Football, and College Basketball are ignoring people that don't want to go look for it. College sports like Lacrosse, Women's Softball you have to search for it. I don't see U.S. Gymnastics covered like it used to be, not even important meets. Ditto Figure Skating. But Tennis I believe is by far the worst for coverage because it was a big sport. Burying it on Tennis Channel or wherever else has killed the sport on TV. Meanwhile networks like ESPN/ESPN2 are covering pickleball and cornhole. Nothing against them, but they have no real history. Yes, people play it, but it's just not the same for me. Maybe I'm crazy. Ditto, along with Austin, but I never played competitively in High School because my team was too good and everyone knew who was going to make it. LOL. One year I was kind of excited and worked at it - then didn't 'go-out' for the team - we had Seniors graduate - 4 of them seeded, but we got 2 ridiculously talented exchange students, and other guys who had been close to making the team were clearly ahead of me in the eyes of the coaches. So there was no point. But I admired and followed the people you list on TV, and it was because of TV that I got to see Tennis. That doesn't happen now.
  11. Really hit or miss. The last time I saw her I thought she needed to lay off the Twinkies.
  12. Well he and his wife are major shareholders in a company developing a "cure". He can't be pro-vax or say that vaccinations are OK. It would go against his investment in a company whose goal is to 'cure' the cold. Covid is of the same line as the common cold I believe I've read. So there's never going to be a cure likely, but he's sticking to his own (albeit stupid) guns. And pocket book.
  13. That was the main problem with the storyline for me. I kept saying at the time....everyone is OK with this? It's a problem in general for B&B which is - just another problem they've always had. These people are supposed to be world-famous - but then almost no one knows them. Stephanie was lost and homeless for God sake, and that was back when B&B was GOOD. It never made sense. The fact that there's no paparazzi makes no sense. Then they go to Australia or Monaco and they're popular and recognized THERE?? But with Maya, that was the whole issue for me. Some resistance, continuing bad press, even Rick just taking a TINY bit of TIME and having some ISSUES with Maya, before really realizing that he LOVED her would have done it for me. We got nothing. It was terrible. In regard to cult stories, I remember reading once that GL/Pam Long pitched the idea and they didn't go for it. That was in the 80's....for some reason they said it was too controversial. It would have been interesting for one of the 4 musketeers to have gotten wrapped up in something like that.
  14. I've only seen it a couple of times in passing - I saw her in a scene about a week into the role? But I would agree with those that say Hunter who? I know I read some pretty smug things that she said about not returning to B&B, but really - from what I saw this actress is more likeable and seemed more natural in her delivery than Hunter ever did. Daytime isn't what it used to be but from what I've seen, this could go down in what remaining history of Daytime that there still is, to be one of the best recasts ever. I could give examples of great recasts but the ones I think of, the actors or actresses made the role their own or changed it. To me, this is almost like it's what Taylor should always have been. Several Dinahs on GL were very very good recasts, but they each did something different with the role. Ditto with Blakes. Maybe their best recast for me would be Maureen (that will always be Ellen Parker to me - afterward and looking back, Ellen Dolan was not Maureen). I don't watch GH but I'd say from what I have seen that Cynthia Watros is better on GH than Stafford was (I don't know a ton but from the little I saw, GH got the golden end of that trade). On World Turns the recast of Frannie a couple of times comes to mind of excellent recasts or replacements, along with most Margos....Dolan might not have been Maureen but was a great Margo. This one looks like a great recast/job albeit I'm kind of saying it from the outside.
  15. Thanks - I couldn't get to that article above. I knew I saw it somewhere...
  16. From what I read wasn't it (or isn't it?) about to become The Sherri show?
  17. Ugh. Well not much solace but at least the loss was to someone from Argentina. There's a part of me that still wants him to somehow stay in it and return. I would love to see him advance a couple of matches at a Slam. He would get a ton of support.
  18. I can't stand tudor-style, but it's beautiful. Tudor always reminds me now of Jon Benet Ramsey's house. It was tudor-ish I think. It does look somewhat sterile but the grounds and pool look nice.
  19. I saw that. You could tell by the way she was acting the last time (well, the last time I saw) her on Twitter. Someone posted an 'interview', but it was someone just trying to talk to her really. Chris Evert tweeted it out and said, this is not OK or something. But in the video someone asked her about where she's been, and at first she said 'can we go inside?' Like she wanted to say something. Then she looked sideways like someone was watching her (because I'm sure they were)...and then, the person who asked the question was standing right there...she said "I can't hear you, I'm sorry?" It was so obvious that she's been yanked back/put in her place. Did she appear at the Olympics? I thought for sure, maybe I missed it, but it would be very much like them to trot her out for a lot of parade opportunities to show how happy she is.
  20. Here in Virginia it's been a big deal that Trumpkin has signed some bill or something banning Critical Race Theory. So it's very interesting. There was nothing to ban. AHAHAHAHAHAHA! All of the idiot Republicans in this state are cheering. Um. Over what exactly? There never was anything telling anyone to TEACH Critical Race Theory. Not a single teacher I know - know ANYTHING about it. A few teach History. They said...well, I teach History. Same history I was teaching. Nothing changed for me.
  21. Well, I did say be forewarned and that it would be nasty. And I did not say anything about Steffi voting for or against Monica's ranking. And she would be singled out because of what I said. She was against the 6 vs. 12 game calculation of ranking because she had a BAD BACK. It was no secret and was kind of ironic given the situation. That THAT would be her main reason for being out of commission and her reason for the side of the fence she chose to be on. What was very funny - I know someone that spoke to Martina about the situation way back when. Ancillary person who happened to pass it on to me. When Martina addressed the players' concerns, here's how it went down. You're not going to keep Monica out of a tournament, so what exactly are you all thinking? Where are your heads? Because if she's NOT ranked at all - by the nature of how this works - you're going to MEET her in a very early round or even the FIRST round. Even if she qualifies to get in, you're going to end up meeting her EARLY. And that goes for the very highest ranked players as well. So what is your goal here? To NOT get paid for advancing? You're not thinking here. THAT was the explanation to the players. THAT'S why they were suddenly OK with it. Honestly I was surprised when I heard this. I would have thought they were smart. Apparently not. And, I'm part Jewish, part Irish (strange combination). So when it comes to my opinions on certain things, not apologizing for that.
  22. I have zero clue as to how Steffi remained so beloved. It was beyond ugly, and it only got worse to me. This, from me, who disliked Monica at first. I so wanted Chrissie to make it in her last US Open and that turned into the match that I began to love Seles. There was a brief moment either when they were walking on or off the court, and the crowd was cheering. Bud Collins made the comment and it was very easy to miss...Monica went to raise her hand to wave and then stopped, and fixed a piece of hair on her head or pretended to fix her hair. I saw it and said 'wow' immediately, and Bud caught it and said - did you see that? Did you catch that...the crowd was cheering and Monica went to wave, and then hid it and fixed her hair. She knows this is Chris' moment. That right there is when I became a Monica fan. Back to the Steffi issue...what really REALLY grated on me is that AFTER the player vote, and Martina Navratilova as President of the WTA having to basically over-ride the player vote, and put Monica as co-#1, and had to make EXCUSES for the players - I remember her saying - they just didn't understand, and after we explained it to them, they were OK with it. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AFTER EXPLAINING it to them? It still BURNS me to this day. AFTER ALL OF THAT (sorry for the Caps) - THEN STEFFI was angry and upset that they also decided to calculate Monica's ranking after 6 tournaments. The minimum was 12 and Steffi was angry about that and opposed it because she said IT WAS UNFAIR. You see, she had injured her back. Um, WHAT? Did ya get STABBED in it??? Again, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And THAT is how I feel about Steffi Graf. I'm going to say something really nasty. As crazy as people complained about the Seles fans, the Steffi fans were 100 times worse. There. So nothing should have shocked me about it. How on EARTH do you even REASON the inequity. ?? The message boards are still out there. You really want to be shocked, check them out. Oh those Germans. Well ya know, Monica was a drama queen, and it only went 2 CM into her back, it wasn't that big of a deal. The overzealous Steffi fans were a nasty bunch. And well, the Germans have such a lovely human-rights past when it comes down to it. I'll get off my soap box now.
  23. People don't remember at all. Or just deny it. It's an ugly stain on Tennis that people do not want to acknowledge. Not a single player voted for a protected ranking for Monica. Only Sabatini abstained, and that was the best they could do. Very ugly. And the German court system basically gave Parche community service. Monica to my knowledge (if I remember) never played a German tournament again. For whatever reason in history, Graf went down as beloved (still gross to me). No, it wasn't her fault. But she didn't do a thing for herself that could easily have made her look - empathetic and human. In the grand scheme of things we'll never know what would have become of Monica and how many more Slams she would have won. I feel safe in saying I believe she would have won at least 2 or 3 more French Opens and likely 2 or 3 US Opens. But it doesn't matter because we'll never know. What we do know is that in Steffi's first 14 Grand Slam tournaments that she played she reached the Semi Finals twice I believe and won one. Did not qualify for a couple/lost in qualifying. In the first 14 Grand Slams that Seles entered she made the semi-s in her very first, won 8 titles, with 1 finalist. It's not really that far of a stretch to see how it would have continued. And I usually say she was stabbed twice. Once by Parche and the 2nd by Tennis itself. You can tell who I'm a fan of.
  24. Well what's particularly scary - I only saw the last set / end of the match. I'm sure Medvedev knows, but maybe not to the extent that he even realizes. I hope someone tells him. Honey - as good as you were, and I'm sure you'll pick your own game apart and tell yourself you weren't nearly as good as you could have been, you made XX amount of mistakes, and you coulda done this or that better. Just know in your little heart of hearts...this wasn't even Rafa's best. And he's old now. LOL. A couple of months from 36 and 36 years old is by no means young in the Tennis world. Ya couldn't even beat him while he was at the end of his career. Remember that when you turn 36.
  25. I missed it but from reading it sounds like Danielle played well but couldn’t seal the deal. Barty isn’t one to just fold so expected. I heard the story about her being the first Aussie to win since 1978. It’s kind of really since Goolagong. They have to acknowledge O’Neil but no one was in that year’s tournament. I mean like - no one. So I think that’s why this is an even bigger deal. They know. Good for her, after all the ridiculous drama.
