Yvette is sitting in her living room drinking coffee. Chester comes in the front door.

Yvette: I'm glad to see you. I didn't expect you to get back until tomorrow.

Chester: The project I was working on got stalled, I have to go back in a day or two when it gets
    back on track.
Yvette: I really needed someone to talk to.
    Chester: Is something wrong?
Yvette: Everything. I was up half the night at the office trying to settle the construction contract issue with the board. We finally settled on Greenwood.
Chester: I thought your Mother was in charge of that?
Yvette: She is, I just had to temporarily step in and mediate the situation, she wasn't really up to it.
Chester: Is she feeling all right?
Yvette: She's not ill, just upset.
    Chester: Why?
Yvette: I tried to call Cassandra's bluff and it didn't work out to well.
    Chester: Uh-oh.
Yvette: She came storming into my office yesterday and we got into a big argument.
My mother heard us arguing and came to see what was going on and Cassandra
just dumped the whole truth out right there.
    Chester: Oh, no.
Yvette: My mother is a so upset right now and I am so angry with myself for opening
    up this whole situation.
Chester: Does anyone else in your family know?
    Yvette: Not yet.
Chester: I imagine your mother would like to keep it that way.
Yvette: She's always been steadfastly against secrets, so I wouldn't be surprised if she clued
    the others in soon.
Chester: I guess this Cassandra won't be bothering you anymore now that the truth is out.
Yvette: She's not giving up, she's up to something and I know it.
Chester: Just hold out hope she isn't.
Yvette: She desperately wants to get her hands on my family's company, so it's
a slim to none that she's done causing havoc.
Chester: She certainly sounds like no joke.
Yvette: And I'm sure her son isn't either.

George and Carol are at the Athletic Club

George: I want to thank you for inviting me to lunch, I'm sure your schedule is very busy.

Carol: Of course, but I felt I had to make time for this.
George: I take it you reviewed the proposal I faxed to you.
Carol: I did, it looks really good. Seems very airtight.
George: Took me a long time to put it together, the biggest worry was the funding.
Carol: Your company has specialized primarily in construction, so what made you want
    to start acquiring department stores?
George: My intention is to move this company up in the Fortune 500 and expanding
our holdings retail was the best way to do so. Construction alone wasn't cutting it.
Carol: The retail business isn't easy, Mr. Lightner, it involves a lot of elements that require
    multi-tasking and clear vision.
George: I've tested the waters a little bit by acquiring a couple of retail stores out west, I'm steadily
    getting the hang of it.
Carol: Interesting, I didn't see those stores in the? list of current holdings you provided.
George: I acquired them under a different business name.
    Carol: Care to say why?
George: I didn't want my competition to catch on to my plans right away.
Carol: Smart. So what would our first move be, if I decided to come on board?
George: Make McGregor's shareholders restless, even more so than they are now. The whole
expansion deal McGregor is planning with Carter has made already them sort of nervous.
Carol: Add a little fuel to the fire, so to speak.
    George: Exactly.
    Carol: I like it.
George: Does that mean you are on board?
Carol: Airtight as it is, it still could fail.
George: But it could be successful. I know what a long and bitter history your company has had with McGregor. Why not settle
    the score like this?
Carol: My animosity with the McGregors goes beyond business, but we won't get into that.
George: Well, sounds like all the more reason to get on board.

George reaches to shakes Carol's hand. Carol hesitates for a second and then shakes his hand.

Carol: You've got yourself a partner.

Stephen is about to leave his law office for lunch, when Edmund comes in.

Edmund: I needed to talk about the case, is this a good time?

Stephen: I was just about to go to lunch, but I can wait a few minutes.
    Edmund: Thanks.
    Stephen: What's up?
Edmund: It's something that Leigh said. She stopped by last night and she's done a complete 180 about the case.
    Stephen: That's good news.
Edmund: She even says she's going to drop the appeal.
    Stephen: What?
Edmund: It wasn't that long ago that she was determined to get the kids from me, now she's changing. I think she's up to something.
Stephen: Her lawyer, Benjamin Bonoff is one of the strongest thinkers in family law, it's possible he told her to change her strategy.
    Edmund: I believe it.
Stephen: But on the other hand, she might really want to settle things quietly.
Edmund: If you knew Leigh like I do, you'd know that she doesn't back down that easily.
Stephen: Wait this one out, see what happens. If she's bluffing, it will become clear soon enough.
Edmund: Maybe you're right, I might be thinking too negatively.
Stephen: I'm not suggesting you let your guard down, I'm just saying wait and see how this goes.
    Edmund: Thanks for the advice.
    Stephen: Not a problem.

Leigh is at her hotel suite, looking through an old, worn address book. She stops on a page and looks at a number

Leigh: This could be my chance to get custody of my children.

Leigh picks of the phone and starts dialing a number.

Leigh: (into phone) Good morning, it's been a long time since I've spoken with you. Listen, I don't want to beat around the bush, but
I need a help with something very important. What is it? Why don't we discuss that in person? It's only half-hour drive, I could leave now? Good, I'll see you there. (hangs up) I hope this works.

Leigh grabs her purse and heads out.

Stephen comes to see Edmund at the mansion to discuss his case, saying that he thinks it would be best if he did take the case. He asks Edmund where the kids are and Edmund says they are at an undisclosed location where Carolee can't find them. Stephen tells him that hiding them during the custody battle would look very bad on Edmund's part, but Edmund says he's afraid that Carolee might try and run off with them, so he doesn't feel comfortable having them here. Stephen says that he should at least tell him where they are, but Edmund is reluctant to tell him. Stephen says even though he doesn't agree with what Edmund is doing, he won't tell anyone. Edmund says the children are with an Aunt in Illinois. Anna comes into kitchen and is surprised to see Stephen. Stephen says that he heard about what happened when Carolee came to the mansion and says that Anna should have acted the way she did, because now Carolee could claim that Anna is unfit for the children to be around. Anna says she doesn't care what she says, she's ready to fight off any ridiculous allegations. Stephen advises Anna not to lose her temper anymore, for the sake of the children.

Amee and JC run into each other at Number 37, so they decide to share a table. JC says that Anna and Joseph are very pleased with Amee's work so far. Amee says she's glad to hear to that, since the company is very selective about what they designs choose. JC then tells her about the new department stores and says that he might be in line to design even more things. Tyler is sitting at the other side of the room, when he spots them and decides to go over to their table. He sarcastically asks JC if he's threatened anyone lately and JC snaps back by saying he never threatened him, he just gave him fair warning. Tyler says that he needs to accept the fact that he's working at McGregor, because he's not going anywhere just because JC has ulterior motives. JC says that he's just biding his time until Tyler slips up and his true intentions are revealed. Tyler tells JC good luck waiting on that to happen, because it never will and walks off. Amee asks what that was all about and JC says that Tyler is just being confrontational as usual.

Lynette meets with Gregory for a counseling session about the problems she's having with her marriage. She says she has to make things run smooth, but Jim just won't cooperate. Gregory asks if she suggested him coming with her for counseling, but she says he refused to come, saying that he's not crazy and doesn't need a shrink. Gregory says that maybe it's time for her to just stop talking to him about it for a while and if he doesn't come around, then she should try another approach. Lynette says that he doesn't even talk to her anymore. Just then, Jim walks in and asks tshe is telling the shrink what a nutcase he is. She says no, that they were just talking about the situation. Jim says he's not comfortable having their personal business discussed with a stranger. Gregory says that he's a doctor and everything is strictly confidential and that he's just trying to help them.

    Panola Wright
With a small business loan and some savings, Panola started a small chain of grocery stores through rural Maryland and in urban areas where there was a food desert. Panola has a heart for community and always gave back as she fought her way into the middle class with her husband, Joseph. She is a lifelong friend of Haven’s and they have both become pillars of the community. Panola was responsible for the opening of Conroy Community College by raising the seed money. She is fiercely protective of her family, especially her son Clyde who doesn’t always make the wisest choices. Panola is the friend that most people want and the enemy that no one wants. She’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, but she can explode like Mt. Vesuvius if you do harm to her family.

    Joseph Wright

He has been with Panola since they attended college in Pennsylvania. He grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs and had a privileged upbringing, but he chose to live a rural life when he married Panola. He was a tough prosecutor in Baltimore, but retired after he was shot in retribution for putting away a dangerous street gang member. Now he chronicles his life in Conroy Valley with a cooking show “Rural Lifestyles” and helps take care of his grandchildren. Joseph is the voice of calm for his sons and the dependable presence that Panola needs in difficult times. Joseph’s mother was never pleased with the fact that he moved to a rural town and chose not to marry into the upper levels of Philadelphia society, so he has to keep her in check whenever she visits.

    Clyde Wright

There is probably no one in Conroy Valley with a more complicated life than Clyde. When he was 17 he married the wayward Paula Hayes. Panola warned him against it, but Clyde was blinded by what he thought was love. Almost immediately Paula after the marriage Paula became pregnant with their daughter and while she was pregnant she engaged in crime with a gang in Baltimore where she was originally from. At first Clyde didn’t realize what she was doing, but when he found out he begged her to stop to which she refused. Clyde’s life was a nightmare as he constantly worried about Paula and the baby. Once the baby was born Panola pushed Clyde to take sole custody and divorce Paula, but Clyde wanted to give her a chance. When she didn’t change he decided to follow his mother’s advice. Paula didn’t take the news well and shot Clyde in the chest, then kidnapped their daughter. Eventually the police caught up to her, but she led them on a high speed chase that resulted in a crash that killed her baby. She was tried and went to prison. Years later, Clyde is still struggling to put his life back together but has found some happiness with Paula’s half-sister, Olivia. With Paula recently back in town (unbeknownst to Clyde) after completing her prison sentence, Clyde is probably in for more trouble.

    Curtis Wright

Unlike his older brother Clyde, Curtis hasn’t been on the receiving end of trouble, but has created it. His business practices are more aggressive than Panola would like, but he is quite useful as her right hand man. He is known as a small town corporate shark and some times does business in a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops which makes him seem non-threatening to some adversaries. Who would believe that a guy dressed like that knows anything about business? Those who underestimate him only realize how he really is once it’s too late. The love of his life is Terri James who he has known since high school. Their relationship has been on and off, mostly due to his day and night commitment to work. But his attention to Terri might change when another man comes into her life.

#58 Monday, November 19th delayed episode

In morning, at the hospital, Cody is preparing to be released.

Carol: As soon as the doctor brings your discharge papers, we are out of here.

    Cody: I can't wait.

Cody looks up at the television and sees a news report.

Cody: Mom, turn that up, please.

    Carol turns up the television.

News Anchor: A bizarre story coming out of the mountain woods area. A report of a gunshot lead police to
a compound that appears to have been recently occupied by mob boss B.P. Charles, who was thought to have been deceased. The story takes an even stranger turn as the police have reportedly pulled the body of Charles out of the local river. The feds have seized a large amount of files, that could lead to a dragnet of arrest of local officials thought to have been helping Charles.

Norm comes into the hospital room.

    Norm: Cody, you're awake.

    He hugs Cody

Norm: I'm relieved you're all right now. You are all right?
Cody: I'm fine, the doctor says I've made a speedy recovery
Carol: Where have you been? We haven't seen you since yesterday?
Norm: It's a long story, a long one.
    Carol: All right.
Norm: It turns out what happened to Cody was no accident.
Cody: I didn't think it was.
    Carol: Oh, my god.
Norm: It turns out that B.P. Charles faked the whole shooting just to get revenge.
Carol: That is insane. But how did he end up in the river?
Norm: He pulled a gun on me trying to escape and he ended up losing his balance and falling off a cliff.
Cody: Dang, that sounds like some action movie.
Carol: How on earth did you find out where he was at?
Norm: It took a lot of digging, but I found it with Wilkins' help.
Carol: Well, maybe now this is all over, we can get a little peace.
Norm: Hopefully. The cops still want to talk to me some more since I was there when he fell, but
other than that, there's no other problems.

Dr. Claiborne comes in with the discharge papers.

Dr. Claiborne: Here you go, just sign here and it's all done.

Carol signs the paper and hands it back to the doctor.

    Carol: Thank you, Doctor.
    Dr. Claiborne: Sure.

    The doctor leaves.

Carol: Well, that's it, we can leave.
Cody: Good, I was getting sick of this place.

They all leave the hospital room

Cassandra is at her penthouse apartment, sitting at the breakfast table. She opens up the newspaper and sees an column titled "Who was behind the Silver Hills Savings and Loan failure?" and immediately starts to panic.

    Cassandra: Oh, no.

A little later at McGregor, the board of directors meeting is getting underway.

Anna: I call this meeting to order. The purpose of this meeting is for us to select a contractor for the expansion project.
The investors have given us until 4:00 to make a decision. We have three contractors on the table, Lightner, Ellington and Greenwood.

Alma: I'd like to raise a concern about one of the prospective candidates.
    Anna: Go ahead please.
Alma (board member): Well, in today's Daily Business Runner there's a column that links Lightner Corporation's co-CEO to the failure of a savings and loan in California.

    Estelle: That doesn't sound good.

Leonard (board member): I read that article and it all looks like speculation.
    Evelyn (board member): I agree.
Alden (board member): But what if it isn't? We don't need any scandal.
Estelle: This whole project has gone off without a hitch, something like this could set up back.
Leonard: Look, Lightner has the best deal and we want to avoid going over the budget. If we run
over, all hell is just gonna break loose.
Alma: What you are missing is the fact that all hell could break loose if we get caught up with a company accused of malfeasance.
Estelle: We are just going to have come up with a solution for the cost overruns. What do you think, Anna?
Anna: The allegations in that article are a bit troubling, but are just speculation.
Alma: I know how I'm going to vote.
Leonard: Let's just take the vote and get this over with.

Across the hall, Cassandra abruptly walks into Yvette's office holding the newspaper.

Cassandra: I assume you're behind what was in the newspaper this morning.

    Yvette: You assumed right.
Cassandra: You could be putting my company in danger of being disgraced.
Yvette: It's not my fault you made poor business decisions.
Cassandra: You didn't have to air all this for the whole world to see.
Yvette: This is just a warning, if you don't back off it's going to be worse.
    Cassandra: Oh, please.
Yvette: You think I'm kidding? I have more information that I held back on about,
information that would really sink you.
Cassandra: You know what, I'm real tempted to just let the truth about your father out for all the world to here.
Yvette: You do it and you'll be sorry.
Cassandra: I'm not afraid of you, dear.

In the boardroom, Anna can hear Yvette and Cassandra arguing.

Anna: What on earth is going on? Excuse me for a minute.

Anna get up and goes across the hall to Yvette's office.

Yvette: This has gone far enough, why don't you just move on?
Cassandra: Your father put me through hell, abandoning me when I had his son, that is something I cannot forget.
    Anna: What?!
    Yvette: Oh, my god, Mother.

Yvette looks terrified as Anna stands in the door with a shocked expression. Fade to black.

Carol is in the waiting room of the hospital, when Norm comes in.

Norm: Mom, I rushed over here as soon as I got your message.

He goes over to Carol and hugs her.

Norm: Has the doctor told you anything about Cody yet?
Carol: Not yet. I can't believe that this is happening.
    Norm: What exactly happened?
Carol: I came home and the house smelled of gas. I found Cody passed out in the basement, it looked like he was trying to turn the gas off.
    Norm: My god.
Carol: They took him back there an hour ago, what is taking them so long to tell me something?
Norm: Hopefully they'll tell us something soon.

Just then the doctor comes out.

    Dr. Claiborne: Mrs. Donahue?

    Carol stands up

Dr. Claiborne: I'm Dr. Claiborne, I've been treating your son.
Carol: How bad is it, Doctor?
Dr. Claiborne: He is breathing on his own, but he hasn't regained consciousness yet.
Carol: Do you know when he might wake up?
Dr. Claiborne: It's too early to tell when he might regain consciousness. And we're still running tests to see what effects the gas may have had.
Carol: If there is any change, please make sure I know right away.
Dr. Claiborne: Of course, ma'am. And rest assured, we're doing all we can for your son.
    Carol: Thank you, Doctor.

Dr. Claiborne goes back into the ICU.

At Stephen's law office, Stephen is going over Edmund's custody case with him.

Edmund: What's the plan of action if the judge doesn't rule in my favor?
Stephen: If it he doesn't, we can appeal to a higher court.
Edmund: And what are the chances there?
Stephen: I'd say you'd have a 50-50 chance of getting the ruling overturned.
Edmund: I still don't understand how the judge could even consider giving Leigh custody, she left those kids without a second thought.
Stephen: At the hearing, you played right into Leigh's hands, she wanted to make you appear as confrontational and irrational. With her testimony, she goaded you into losing your cool and mouthing off every 2 seconds. It didn't exactly make you look like father of the year.
Edmund: But, everyone knows that I've been nothing but a good father to my children. Numerous people testified to that.
Stephen: You know, what the judge saw with his own eyes is going to reflect most on you. The judge may intepret your antics in court as an example of your parenting skills.
Edmund: I was just so frustrated, I couldn't take listening to all those blatant lies she was telling.
Stephen: Right now, there isn't much else that can be done, except prepare for a potential appeal.

Edmund rubs his forehead and then looks at a photo of his children in his wallet.

At Lynette's house, Greg is at the door with bag from Guido's. He rings the doorbell and Lynette answers.

Greg: Now I know you already saw me today, but since you were feeling so down, I thought I bring you and the kids some dinner from Guido's.
I figured you didn't feel like cooking.
Lynette: Oh, that was very thoughtful of you, thanks. It's just me though, the kids are at a sleepover at one of their friend's house.

    Greg hands her the bag.

Lynette: Why don't you come on in? I don't really feel like having dinner alone tonight and I'd really like to try and get my mind off things.
    Greg: All right.

    Greg comes inside.

Greg: You know, most people don't really like seeing their shrink twice in one day.
Lynette: Well, not all shrinks are like you.

    They smile at each.

Having left Stephen's law office, Edmund is now at the CoffeeRoom having a cup of coffee. Just then, Leigh walks in and spots Edmund. She walks over to him.

Leigh: You ready for court tomorrow?
Edmund: Worry about your own preparedness, don't worry about mine.
Leigh: (laughs) You just love to snap back at everything.
Edmund: Lately, you've been putting out a lot for me to snap back at.
Leigh: When we were first married, you were so carefree, now you are just so, cynical.
Edmund: Not cynical, I just grew up, something you failed to do along the way.
Leigh: If you consider yourself the definition of grown up, you're really sadly mistaken.
Edmund: Look, I don't want to argue with you, I just want all of this mess you've started to be over.
Leigh: It will be over when I have my children.
    Edmund: We'll see about that.
Leigh: You're not going to keep them away from me.
Edmund: I have no desire to, you can see them anytime you like, but as far as full custody goes, I don't think that's a good idea.
Leigh: I just needed some time for myself, but I came back. I didn't just abandon them and the court doesn't see it that way.
Edmund: You left without notice and were gone for months, the kids kept asking me where you were and I didn't know what to say to them. You split because you couldn't handle being a wife and a mother anymore. After that, I don't want those kids to be put through anything else.

    Edmund storms out.

Back at hospital, Carol is still in the waiting room. Norm brings her some coffee.

Norm: I brought you a cup of coffee.
Carol: Thanks, but I can't drink anything right now.
    Norm: Okay.
Carol: I just lost your father last year, I can't lose one of my children too.
Norm: Mom, don't think like that, Cody is going to pull through this.
Carol: You're right, I can't think negatively about this. But I'm still scared.
    Norm: I'm scared too.
Carol: I forgot to ask, did you get a hold of your sister?
Norm: She was in Chicago, she's making her way back here now.
    Carol: Good.

    Carol gets up.

    Norm: Where are you going?
Carol: Outside, I need some air.
Norm: You want me to come with you?
Carol: I just need a minute to myself.

Carol walks outside and takes a deep breath.

Carol: God, please help my son come out of this, please just let him be okay.

A little while later, Back at Lynette's house, Greg and Lynette have finished dinner and are sitting on the terrace talking.

Lynette: I want to really thank you again for checking up on me and bringing me dinner, I really appreciate it.
    Greg: It was my pleasure.
Lynette: It was nice to be able to take my mind off my problems for a little while.
Greg: You know, I've never done this for a patient before.
    Lynette: I had guessed that.
Greg: I shouldn't even get this close to a patient, but--
Lynette: You're just doing what you think is right and I'm glad you are.

She leans in gives him a quick hug. Then they stare at each for a second and then start to kiss. Lynette pulls away for a second, feeling a qualm what they're doing is wrong, but quickly starts kissing Greg again. Fade to black.

At Number 37, Joseph is sitting at the bar when Henry comes in and takes a seat at the bar as well.

    Henry: Hello, Joseph.
    Joseph: Henry.
Henry: You called me, what did you want to talk about?
Joseph: I hope you'll reconsider that job offer in Minnesota, you're immensely qualified.
Henry: Like I said, I'm not ready to pack up and start over in a new place.
Joseph: You may not have a choice, we're having trouble finding qualified candidates and if you want to stay with this corporation, you'll have to step up.
Henry: Why don't you come out and say the real reason you want me gone? It's because of Trish.
Joseph: It has nothing to do with her, this is about business.
    Henry: Sure it is.
Joseph: This company is too important for me to play games over petty personal problems.
Henry: First it was your mother, now it's you, you people just don't let up?
Joseph: You know, paranoia is not a good thing.
Henry: I'm not paranoid, I know exactly what's going on.
Joseph: I could care less about you and Trish, it's not my business and I don't concern myself with other people's lives.
Henry: That's laughable, but one thing you did say was right, it is none of your business.
Joseph: If you want to keep the job you already have, I suggest you watch what you say.
Henry: Or what? You'll fire me?

    JC walks into the bar

    JC: What's going on here?
Joseph: Just a business discussion, Henry was just leaving.

Henry storms out of the bar.

JC: That couldn't have been about business.
Joseph: It wasn't. He thinks because the company has offered him a job in Minnesota, it has something to do with him and Trish.
JC: You mean him and mom are--
Joseph: They've always been close, they've known each other since college.
JC: Oh, I knew they were close, but I never imagined they'd get together.
Joseph: Well, they did. (downs drink)
JC: Are you sure there isn't some truth to what he was saying? You were married to Mom for 20 years, you don't just let go of all that.
Joseph: I've moved on and I don't regret it.

Lynette walks into Greg's office looking upset.

Greg: What's the matter? You look upset.

Lynette: It's Jim. I told him the truth.
Greg: From the look on your face, I assume he didn't take it well.
Lynette: He stormed out of the house and drove off. He's turned off his
cell phone and I'm really concerned about him.
Greg: Because of what you told me about him?
Lynette: I don't want to be responsible for him starting to drink again,
something like this could send him over the edge.
Greg: Just hope it doesn't come to that.
    Lynette: I'm so afraid.
Greg: What are you going to do?
Lynette: I'm going to go to his parents' house, maybe he's back there.
    Greg: I'll drive you.
Lynette: I don't think you should.
Greg: You shouldn't be driving while you are upset. I'll stay in the car when we get there.
    Lynette: All right.

At McGregor, the boardroom is full with members of the board of directors and others. Anna walks in the office.

Anna: The results of the votes are in, I just got the call.

    Alma: And?
Anna: 51% in favor of Lightner.

Joseph: What? I don't believe it, after all the calls we made?

JC: What does that mean for us now?
Anna: It means they have a very narrow majority of the seats on the board. Leonard, Evelyn, Alden, I'm sorry but you were voted out.
Leonard: We are going to fight this.
Anna: I don't see how, there is going to be chaos on this board now.
Alma: We're going to make sure you stay on as CEO, no matter what.
Anna: Where are the votes going to come from? Lightner got his cronies on the board.
Joseph: There is no way we are letting them force us out of this company.
Anna: We are at a significant disadvantage here, we have no recourse.

Yvette: So you're going to just give up and cede the company to them?
Anna: I don't want to do that, but I don't see how I can realistically overcome this.
Yvette: We'll come up with something, but giving up shouldn't be an option.
    Joseph: I agree.
Anna: Optimism is fine, but let's keep a realistic outlook.
    Yvette: We need to brainstorm.

Anna pauses and thinks for a second.

Anna: There could be one way out of this.
    Joseph: Really?
Anna: I've got a few calls to make, I'll be right back.

    ________________________________________________________

Meanwhile, at Lightner, George, Carol and Cassandra are toasting with champagne.

Cassandra: I'd like to propose a toast to this new venture.

    Carol: Here, here.
Cassandra: We are going to take this company places where the McGregors never could go.

    George: I'll drink to that.

Just then, a Sterling walks into the office.

Cassandra: Sterling, you're just in time for the toast. Congratulations on your new board seat.
    Sterling: I don't drink.
Cassandra: You could make an exception.
Sterling: I'm here to discuss business.
    George: Fine, what's up.
    Sterling: It's about my incentive.
George: You are on the board, that's about all the incentive you need.
Sterling: I could use a little more, it took a lot of prodding to get those shareholders on your side. I just
want to make sure I have a guarantee of security in the company.
    George: What do you want?
Sterling: A cut of the quarterly profits.
    George: Absolutely not.
Sterling: I see, so I guess you are going to be one of those CEOs who breaks himself off a big fat piece of the pie from the profits.
George: Look, you did a job and go rewarded, be satisfied.
Cassandra: It would be very wise of you not to force your hand, Sterling. You could end up with nothing.
Sterling: Then again, so could you. I hold a lot of clout with the shareholders, it would only take a call to
a few dozen of them to turn your 51% victory into nothing.
George: I don't like being threatened.
Sterling: Take it or leave it.
    George: We'll work something out.
    Sterling: I want a guarantee.
George: I can't talk numbers until after this quarter ends.
Sterling: Fine, but just remember what I said. Good Evening, Mrs. Donahue.

    Sterling leaves.

George: That's the price of making deals, they always want more.
Carol: What's our course of action?
George: We'll probably have to give him what he wants.

Lynette and Greg pull up at Jim's parents' house.

    Greg: Are you all right?
Lynette: Yes, I need to do this.

Lynette gets out of the car and walks up the door, ringing the bell. Jim's mother answers.

Eleanor: I don't think you should be here right now.
Lynette: Please, I need to talk to Jim, I feel terrible about everything.
Eleanor: Jim came in here earlier an emotional wreck, seeing you now would
    only make it worse.

Jim comes out of the kitchen.

    Jim: Mom, let her in.
Eleanor: If that's what you want.

Eleanor lets her in and then retreats to the kitchen. Lynette comes inside and walks over to Jim, putting her hand on his shoulder.

    Lynette: I'm sorry.

    Jim pulls away from her.

    Jim: Sure.
Lynette: I don't know what else to say.
Jim: What else is there to say? You've said it all.
Lynette: Please, just let me try to explain.
Jim: I need to ask you something.
    Lynette: What?
Jim: Why didn't you tell me the truth? Did you think it was better to sneak around behind my back and pretend you loved me?
Lynette: No, no, that's not it. Everything that happened was all out of the blue. I don't want you to think I set out to hurt you.
Jim: So if I had done this to you, you'd really be understanding about it? Do you know how ludicrious that is?
Lynette: No, of course not, that's not what I'm saying.
Jim: You're trying to justify your actions, that's what you are trying to do.
Lynette: I felt like I was being pushed away.
Jim: There's the blame card again! You pulled that earlier.
Lynette: Again, I'm not blaming you, just explaining the circumstances.
Jim: Yes, the best way to deal with emotional pain is to go out and screw your doctor, what a novel philosophy.
Lynette: I know you're hurt, but--
Jim: But nothing, I struggled with the separation too, but I never even thought about having an affair.
Lynette: Sometimes people do the wrong thing when they are hurt, not everyone is the same.
Jim: Or maybe you just got tired of being to a guy who's nothing more than a grocery store clerk and wanted somebody
younger and with a better title.
Lynette: I'm not that superficial, you know that.
Jim: I don't know anything about you, Lynette. In fact, I don't want to know anything else about you, because I'm done.
I've spoken with a lawyer and I'm filing divorce papers. So you can go be with your doctor and be the hell out of my life.

Jim storms back into the kitchen. Eleanor comes back out. Eleanor doesn't say a word, she just looks at Lynette and holds the door open. Lynette

    leaves.

On the back porch, Jim reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a flask, taking a drink from it.

The next day, Lynette is sitting in her kitchen drinking tea when she thinks back to his kiss with Greg the night before.
She's snapped out of her thoughts by the doorbell. She answers the door and finds Jim on the other side.

    Lynette: Jim.
Jim: I think we should talk.

Lynette sighs and looks a little nervous.

    Jim: Can I come in?
    Lynette: Um, yes of course.

    Jim comes inside.

Jim: Your mother had a little talk with me yesterday.
Lynette: Well, I didn't put her up to it.
Jim: No, I know you didn't do that. I'm here because what she said made me think.
    Lynette: Really?
Jim: She made me realize that we need to discuss some things, open up the dialogue a little more.

Lynette keeps her back turned to Jim and won't look him in the eye.

Jim: Are you all right? You seem nervous.
Lynette: Nervous? No, I'm fine, I'm just trying to take in what you are saying.

He puts his hands on her shoulders.

Jim: You know I love you, don't you?
    Lynette: Yes.
Jim: All of this has been so hard for me, I don't know how to sort my feelings out.
Lynette: I guess you just need your space.
Jim: It's just that I'm afraid that things might not work out, you know.

    Lynette continues to look nervous.

Lynette: (thinking) What am I going to do?

At Lightner headquarters in Detroit, Cassandra comes into her office and finds Yvette waiting for her.

Cassandra: What are you doing here?
Yvette: If you're going to make threats, do it to my face. Don't be a coward and do it over the phone.
Cassandra: I simply made you an offer.
Yvette: Listen, I don't have any control over the building contract, that's up to the joint board of directors for the project, which
    I do not sit on.
Cassandra: You're still on the inside, surely you can find a way to improve the odds of Lightner succeeding.
Yvette: I have no desire to help your company do anything, I just wish you would back off.
Cassandra: I'm afraid that's not going to happen.
Yvette: What do you get out of this? Does any of this change what my father did? No.
Cassandra: I've spotted an opportunity and I'm taking. This project could help this company make the Fortune 300.
This is just business as usual and I have a really good bargaining chip.
Yvette: If this is all about business, I can find you a contract with another company. I have connections, all over the country.
Cassandra: I want this contract and you need to help me get it.
Yvette: I will not be blackmailed by you.
Cassandra: Oh, but what about your precious family? The premiere retailers of the Midwest and Eastern Seaboard, a golden dynasty
that can't in any way afford one tarnish.
Yvette: Would you listen to yourself? You are so bitter and full of resentment.
Cassandra: No, dear, the only thing I've full of is ambition.
Yvette: Ambition doesn't mean playing games that could hurt people.
Cassandra: I learned a long time ago to only look out for me.
Yvette: Well, maybe I'll start playing some games of my own, maybe something to make you rethink this stunt you're pulling.
Cassandra: You're out of your league, dear.
Yvette: That's what you think. Didn't I tell you before not to underestimate me? Good day.

    Yvette leaves.

At the courthouse, the custody ruling is about to get underway, Edmund, Stephen, Leigh and Leigh's lawyer, Ben are present. Anna is sitting in the spectator area, behind Edmund.

Anna: (whispering) Have faith, you're not going to lose those kids.
    Edmund: Thanks, Mom.

The judge enters the courtroom and gavels the hearing in.

Judge Becker: I take it that both parties involved and their counsel are present?

    Stephen: Yes, your honor.

    Ben: Present, your honor.

Judge Becker: All right, then lets get down to business. After carefully reviewing the case, I have come to a ruling that I think is best for the children. Based on testimony given by various character witnesses, even some from the petitioner's own family, I have ruled that Mr. McGregor should retain custody of the children.

    Leigh: (whispering) Damn it.

Ben: (whispering to Leigh) We can appeal.

Judge Becker: The children are in a very stable environment right now and I see no reason to uproot them.
    Leigh: (whispering) This is unbelievable.
Judge Becker: The children's mother, the former Mrs. McGregor will be granted visitation rights, the terms of which will be discussed at a later date.
    Edmund: Thank you, your honor.

The judge gavel's out and leaves. Leigh immediately walks over to Edmund.

Leigh: You can bet that I am going to appeal this travesty.
Edmund: Please, would you just let bygones be bygones here. No more fighting.
Leigh: I don't want my sons raised by you to have them turn into holier than thou hypocrites like you.
Edmund: I've offered you a truce for the good of our kids, if you cared about them you'd take it.
Leigh: I want what's good for my kids and being raised by me is what is good for them.
Edmund: Be truthful here, isn't the only reason you want full custody is so you can stick it to me?
Leigh: Oh, yeah, it's always "me, me, me" with you.
    Edmund: Tell me the truth.
Leigh: Frankly, I don't waste that much time thinking about you. You might be basking in the glow of victory now, but when all is said
and done, we'll see who has custody of those kids and believe me, I will make sure that it's me.

Leigh walks out, Ben goes behind her.

    Leigh: I've been busy.
Ben: I figured you were up to something.
Leigh: I didn't say I was up to something.
Ben: The heck you aren't, I heard about you dropping
the custody case through your ex's lawyer.
Leigh: I decided to change course.
Ben: As your lawyer, it's seems like you would have
    clued me in on that.
Leigh: It must of slipped my mind.
Ben: It might be time for you to find yourself another lawyer.
Leigh: Just relax, I'm keeping you on reserve.
Ben: I don't think I like the sound of that.
Leigh: We won't be going back to court for awhile, I need some time to get things together.
Ben: You are just going to make things worse for yourself.
Leigh: That's the last thing I'm going to do. When all is said and done, I'm going
to come out looking really good compared to Edmund.
Ben: If you get yourself in trouble, don't expect me to get you out of it.
Leigh: Don't you worry, I've got this under control.

In Detroit, Norm walks into a neatly kept store that says "Rose Electronics" on the glass door. He knocks on an office door and a woman answers.

    Woman: Can I help you?

Norm: Are you Christina Davidson? We spoke on the phone, I'm Norman Donahue.
Christina: Of course, come in and sit down.

Norm walks inside the office and sits down.

Christina: So what sort of merchandise are you interested in purchasing?
Norm: I'm actually here to discuss something else.
Christina: You're not a cop are you?
Norm: No, no, just someone on a mission.
    Christina: Let's hear it.
Norm: I want to talk to you about Edmund McGregor.
Christina: We dated in college, last time I talked to him was a couple of years ago
Norm: So you two are friends?
Christina: Why are you asking about this?

Norm crosses his fingers behind his back

Norm: You see, Edmund's a very close friend of mine and he's recently been through a nasty divorce.
I thought it would help him if I tracked down some of his old friends, you know to sort of help him get through this.
Christina: I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm not sure how much help I could be, like I said Edmund and I haven't
spoken in awhile. I still do care about him, though, very much.
Norm: He's talked about you a lot lately and has been wondering where you've been. He seems very fond of you.
Christina: I'm not sure he'd even want to talk to me, seeing as what kind of, business I'm in now.
Norm: He doesn't have to know what you do. Why don't you just give him a call? Maybe visit him? See where things go? It might all turn out great.
Christina: I don't know, I don't want to further complicate things for him.
Norm: It really would mean a lot to him if you did contact him.
Christina: Maybe I will do that, I have missed Edmund.
Norm: Thank you, I think it will really do him some good. Don't tell him about this visit though,
I don't want him to think you are only contacting because I asked you, it's better if he thinks you did
    it on your own.
    Christina: Sure.

Norm leaves. Once outside, he smirks and takes out his cell phone to call Leigh.

Norm: Leigh, call me back when you get this. I think our plan may have just gotten even easier.

George: I certainly do. I've spoken with the proxy solicitor and he
thinks we have enough votes from the shareholders to vote
out the entire board of McGregor.
    Carol: Seriously?
George: The vote will take place within 48 hours.
Carol: I'm astounded that this moved so fast.
George: The shareholders like our plan for the company better.
Carol: I've got to hand it to you, this is brilliant work.
George: When I want something, I go after it. Besides, I couldn't
have done it without Donahue's backing.
Carol: Glad to be of help.
George: As soon as the shareholders vote, we'll sign the contracts
and we'll be the owners of the largest company in these parts.
    Carol: I can't wait.

Joseph, Yvette, Lynette and Edmund are all at the McGregor Estate

Lynette: Does anyone know what this is about, Mom sounded so serious on the phone last night.

    Yvette: You'll find out soon.

    Joseph: You already know?
    Yvette: Yep.

    Anna walks into the room.

Anna: I'm glad all of you could come here today.
    Joseph: What's going on?
Anna: First, I just want all of you to know that what I'm about to tell you is little bit shocking.
It's not exactly something any of us imagined was possible, but it is. A few days ago, I found out that your father was---

Anna pauses as she starts to get choked up.

    Yvette: Are you all right?
Anna: I'm fine, I need to get this out. What I was trying to say is, your father was married to another woman before he married me and never
    divorced her.
Lynette: What? That couldn't be true, there must be some mistake.
Anna: It's true and it's not the only part of the story. He had a son with this woman and that son is George Lightner.

Edmund: The guy that wanted the building contract?
    Anna: Yes.
Joseph: I can't believe this. That guy is our half-brother.
Lynette: So Dad had two families?
Yvette: He had absolutely nothing to do with George or Casssandra over the years. He just started a whole new life with Mother.
Edmund: There must be some sort of mistake, Dad would never do something like that.
Anna: I'm afraid it is. And the reason they are here in town is because Cassandra is bent on revenge.
Joseph: I don't like this at all.
Yvette: I do not have specifics as to what they are up to, but I can say that they want the company.
Anna: But they are not going to get it.
Joseph: That's why some of the stockholders seem to be getting restless.
    Anna: Restless?
Joseph: I've been hearing a few murmurs that some of our stockholders, I thought it was just
jitters about the expansion project, but now I'm thinking it's something else.

Just then, the phone rings. Anna answers it.

Anna: Hello? What? Just tell them to wait for me, I'll be there shortly. (hangs up)
    Joseph: Who was that?
Anna: That was my secretary, she said a group of stockholders just walked into the office demanding
a meeting. She also said one of them said something about a proxy fight.
Lynette: Pardon my ignorance, I've never understood all the corporate talk. What is a proxy fight?
Anna: It means that I could lose control of the company.

Off Anna's concerned expression, fade to black.

Anna: I'm glad you came over, we don't get a chance to talk much.
    Lynette: I know.
    Anna: Is something wrong?
    Lynette: You could say that.
    Anna: Okay, what is it?
Lynette: Last night, Greg came over and brought me dinner. We talked for awhile and I ended up kissing him.
    Anna: Oh, no.
Lynette: And this morning, Jim came by saying he's ready to open up to me more. All day today, I've been pacing back and forth, trying to sort all of this out.
Anna: The first question you need to ask yourself is if the kiss was just a moment weakness or if you actually have feelings Greg.
    Lynette:i I love my husband.
Anna: That's not what I was talking about.
Lynette: It was just something that happened, I don't feel anything more for Greg than friendship.
Anna: For something like this to even happen, it's clear that you must have been leaning on this man emotionally.
Lynette: See, this is why I hardly ever tell you anything, you always start making assumptions.
    Anna: Am I wrong?
Lynette: Greg has been helping me through this, he's been the only person who really understands me.
Anna: Well, my advice to you is, whatever is going on, you should put a stop to it before it goes any further.
Lynette: There is absolutely nothing going on.
Anna: If that was the case, you wouldn't have come to me for advice.
Lynette: I just needed to tell someone, that's all. Don't read too much into this.

Norm: How soon can you tell what the exact problem of this gas leak was?
Investigator: It shouldn't be too long before we have some idea.

The other investigator comes out of the house.

    Investigator: Find anything?
Investigator #2: Something a little strange.
    Norm: What?
Investigator #2: It looks as if some sort of bonding agent was on the gas valve, causing it not to move.
Norm: What? That doesn't make any sense.

Trish: Mom, J.C. called and said he'd be over here a little later. He just heard what happened.
Carol: Glad to hear that, I don't get to see him much.
Trish: He's always so busy with something at McGregor, he's a hard worker.
Carol: You raised a good son. Unlike me, who just shipped you kids off to boarding school.
Trish: Don't start being critical of yourself now. You may have sent us off to boarding school,
but you still were a good mother.
Carol: I don't even know why I thinking about all this now. All I want to focus on is Cody getting better.
    Trish: Right.

Carol calls Teddy into her office and hands him an envelope. He looks inside and sees a large amount of cash. Carol tells him that she wants him to get a job at McGregor so she can have a spy on the inside. Teddy says that she's crazy if she thinks he'll get away with spying and she responds by saying that she can get someone else for the job if he doesn't feel that he's capable of doing. Teddy agrees, but demands that Carol pay him regularly for his time. Carol says that he will receive more money only if can bring her helpful information.

Lynette comes to McGregor's looking for Anna, but bumps into Dr. Roosevelt. She greets him and then ask where Anna is, he responds by saying that Anna is in a meeting and won't be finished for awhile. She sighs and gets ready to leave when Dr. Roosevelt asks if there is anything she wants to talk about. She says she doesn't want to burden him with her problem, but he says it's no problem since he's a doctor and Lynette then agrees to talk to him. They go into his office and sit down. She begins by telling him that she feels unfulfilled by just staying home all day. Dr. Roosevelt tells her that it's normal to feel that way at times and that lots of people have been through it. She says that she wants to have a career, but her husband doesn't want their children raised by a nanny. Dr. Roosevelt tells her that she has to make that decision herself.

Estelle shows up at Alma's office at McGregor. Alma is puzzled as to why she is there, as she is Donahue's supplier. Estelle says she wants to branch out and supply more stores with her items and that McGregor is on her list. Alma says that she doesn't really trust her because of her friendship with Carol, but Estelle snaps back by saying she is a business person that doesn't allow personal affairs effect her judgment. Alma laughs and asks her if Carol sent her over, because that's the only reason why she would be making this offer. Estelle says that she doesn't work for Carol and that she resents anyone saying that she does. Alma says that she's been in the corporate world long enough to know a stunt when she sees one. Estelle says she'll speak with Anna and see what she has to say about it, but Alma says that Anna won't go for the deal either. As Estelle goes out the door she says Alma is foolish for letting a good deal slip away.

At the McGregor, Estelle has stopped by to see Anna.

Estelle: I apologize for stopping by like this, but it's about a matter requires your immediate attention.

    Anna: No problem.

Estelle: The investors want us to select a contractor soon so we can start building.
Anna: I'd like a little more time to sort this out, there's a potential for cost overruns and I want to get all that taken care of.
How soon do they want a decision?
    Estelle: Tomorrow afternoon.
Anna: Oh, great. How are we supposed to figure out the details by then?
Do you think they would except a phased construction?
    Estelle: I doubt it.
Anna: (sighs) I guess we ought to round up the joint board of directors for a meeting tommorrow morning.
Estelle: This will be the first time doing that and judging by the members, it will be a fractious meeting, a clash of corporate minds.
Anna: I've dealt with worse. This has to be worked out, my company has a lot riding on this.
Estelle: As does mine. By the way, are you leaning toward any of the contractors yet?
Anna: There is one. Lightner, I like the record they have and their building design.
I've met with the head of the company, George and he seems like a good businessman. There's something
about him that reminds of someone, but I can't put my finger on who it is.

Yvette is in her office, there's a knock at the door.

    Yvette: Come in.

    Teddy walks in.

Yvette: You have anything good for me?

    Teddy: You bet.

Teddy hands her a small stack of papers. Yvette looks through them.

    Yvette: Oh, my goodness.
Teddy: It's shocking how many bad business decisions she's made have caused problems for others.
Yvette: This also says she was partned with people who ran half a dozen ponzi schemes.
Teddy: That's not all, keep reading, check out the part that says "Silver Hills Savings and Loan".
Yvette: How on earth is she even still doing business after all these mistakes?
Teddy: A lot of this stuff got buried because she had people in the right places cover it up, but
with a little digging I found it. But, if half of her investors found out about this, she'd be washed up.
Yvette: I know, a businessperson with any would stay away from a person with a record like this.
Well, you've done good work, Teddy and as promised you'll be getting the other half of your fee.

    Yvette hands him an envelope.

    Teddy: Thank you.
    Yvette: No, thank you.

Teddy leaves. Yvette leans back in her chair and smiles.

Yvette: Now lets see who can make threats.

Yvette picks up her phone and dials a number.

Yvette: (into phone) Hi, I've never done this before, so I don't know how it works, but I have
a little item for your paper, how soon can you fit it in? That soon? Sounds great. Do you have a paper and pen ready?

Norm and Wilkins are still trying to find B.P. in the woods. Norm is looking around a patch of trees, when he hears a gun cock.

    B.P.: Maybe this time I won't miss.

Norm turns around to see B.P. aiming his gun.

B.P.: This time you don't have the P.I. to help you. (chuckles)
Norm: Why are you doing all this?
B.P.: Because no one crosses me and gets away with it.
    Norm: You are insane.
B.P.: You know what? Maybe I am insane, but one thing I'm not is a fool.
Norm: This stops now, you've caused my family enough trouble.
B.P.: I'll be the one who says when anything stops.

B.P. steps back, unaware he's close to the edge of a cliff.

B.P.: Now you just turn around and head back to town, pretend you never saw me and no one gets hurt.
    Norm: I can't do that.
B.P.: All right, have it your way.

B.P. prepares to shoot, but as he steps back again, he stumbles over a root. Norm watches in shock as B.P. begins to fall backward down the hill and then takes a steep plunge off the cliff into the icy water below, disappearing in the current. Fade to black.

Carol makes a threat of her own to B.P., saying that she can bring him down with a snap of her fingers and he won't be able to do a thing about it. B.P. advises her against making threats, because it only will make the situation worse. Carol opens the door and asks him to leave, but he refuses to until she gives in to his demand. Carol stops and thinks for a second and then agrees to put B.P. on the board, only with the assurance that he will leave Cody alone. He says that he' ll hold up his end of the bargain and leaves her office. Once he's out of her office, Carol calls Norm and says that it's time to bring out the big guns.

Gregory comes over to Lynette's house on her night off to check on her. She invites him to sit down and talk for awhile. He asks her if she's making any progress and she says that Jim is finally starting to understand why she starting working, but is still distant. Gregory tells her to not give up, because losing a marriage is a terrible thing. Lynette asks if Gregory is married and he responds by saying he got divorced a year ago. Lynette says she won't let things go that far, but Gregory says that sometimes things can go bad very quickly and no one can stop it. Lynette says that she fealrs what could happen, but tries not to think about it and keep a positive attitude. Gregory says that if things don't work out between her and Jim, that he'll make sure he's around to help her cope and takes her hand.

Yvette is shocked when the woman she met on her trip shows up at her door. She invites the woman in and offers her tea, but she refuses it saying that she is only here to clear the air about something. The woman then sits down and starts to tell Yvette about how Andrew McGregor (Yvette's father) lived in the Upper Peninsula town of Markham years ago, before he was married or had a dime. She says that he was an upstanding citizen, until he decided that he wanted to move up in the world. He got involved in a real estate scheme that promised to save several people from foreclosure, they would put him on the deed and he would make sure they were protected. But instead of protecting their homes, he sold them without the residents knowledge and several people lost their homes. Yvette still wonders why he was sending money to the town, but the woman says that she doesn't have any clues why he was doing that.

Claire calls someone on the phone and tells them that she has a good story about a member of the Donahue family, for a price. Just then, Cody comes back in and says he left something in his pocket. When he asks Claire why she has the note, she hangs up the phone quickly and says that she was just about to call him and tell him that he left something in his pocket. He takes the note from her and leaves. After he leaves, Claire slams the counter upset that he retrieved the note. After thinking for a second, she calls the person she called before and tells them that she will need a little more time to get the story.

Carolee arrives at the airport and takes a cab directly to the McGregor mansion. She knocks on the door and the butler, Freeman answers it. Carolee says that she is here to pick up her children and Freeman says he's been given orders not to let her in. She shows him a court order that says she's allowed visitation, but Freeman says that he's not going to let her in regardless of what she has. Carolee then suggest that maybe she should call in the authorities to settle this and pulls out her cell phone and Freeman shouts for Anna to come downstairs. Anna rushes downstairs and asks Freeman what's going on and he explains that Carolee is trying to force her way in and take the children. Freeman steps aside so Anna can talk to Carolee. Anna says that she's not taking the kids anywhere and Carolee once again holds up the court order, but Anna snatches it out of her hand, tears it up and says that the court order is worthless. Carolee tells her that she'll be sorry that she did that and Anna says that threats don't scare her, because she's come up against people worse than Carolee. Carolee says that she's going to see her children and Anna tells her that they aren't at the mansion and even if they were she wouldn't be allowed to see them. Carolee demands to know where her children are and Anna says that they are somewhere safe from her and that they'll stay there until after the court battle. Carolee promises that the judge will hear about this, but Anna tells her she's not worried about the judge and to get off her property immediately or she's calling the police.

Yvette sneaks into McGregor mansion through the back door and quietly takes the back stairs up to the attic. Once there, she starts looking through a box of her father's old papers, looking for anything that could possibly overturn the will. She comes across an old ledger, that shows that her father made several payments to an unnamed person at an address in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She digs deeper in the box and finds more ledgers with the same information. She shoves the papers into her purse, closes the box and places it back on a shelf, before turning out the light and leaving the attic. She then sneaks back down the stairs and quietly out the back door.

Jim is late getting home from work. Lynette tries his cell phone, but can't get an answer. She then calls Alma and asks her if she can watch the kids while she's at work, she's already late as it is. Just then, Jim comes in. Lynette tells Alma that Jim just walked in and hangs up. Lynette is furious and asks Jim why he is late. Jim tells her that he had to take care of some business and Lynette asks what business, but he says it was just personal errand he had to run. Lynette then accuses him of being late on purpose because to make her miss her shift, but Jim says that is nonsense. Lynette says she knew he hadn't really accepted her working, but she didn't think he'd do something like this. Jim says that he's not in the mood to argue and that they should just drop the whole thing. Lynette says that he better make it the last time that he pulls a stunt like this and then storms out the front door.

At the hospital, Dr. Claiborne is checking Cody's vital signs.

Dr. Claiborne: Everything seems to be in order here. Your test results look good too. You've made progress rapidly.

Cody: So I'm going to be all right?
Dr. Claiborne: I would say yes.
Carol: Thank god, I am so relieved. Thank you so much, Doctor.
    Dr. Claiborne: You're welcome.

    Dr. Claiborne leaves

Carol: Well, I feel much better.
Cody: I feel a little better, but--
    Carol: You're still upset.
Cody: Yeah, I just wish that I could
go after the person who did this.
Carol: You never told me who you think did it.
Cody: Don't call me crazy, but I think B.P. Charles was behind it.
Carol: But he's dead, how could he be behind it?
Cody: I'm not so sure he's dead. Wilkins snapped a photo
of him coming out of a diner, he had been talking to the guy who framed me.
    Carol: Well, where was this?
    Cody: Right here in town.
    Carol: This makes no sense.
Cody: See, I knew you'd think I was crazy.
Carol: No, no, I'm not saying that. It's just makes no sense to me how it's possible, B.P. Charles was fatally shot.
Cody: That's why I want to get out there and find the truth.
Carol: Just focus on one thing at a time, you've got to make a full recovery first.
    Cody: I feel much better.
Carol: I know, but until the doctor gives you the green light to leave, you need to rest.
Cody: I suppose you're right, there's nothing much I can do right now. But as soon as I'm out, I'm back to investigating.

Wilkins and Norm are driving on the route to the mountains.

Wilkins: There aren't many places up here and most of them are used only during Winter when the snow is packed.
If Charles is still around here, we have to keep our eyes peeled for activity around any of these places.

Norm: I just want to make B.P. pay for what he's done to my brother.
Wilkins: Well, let's keep our fingers crossed that we can find him.

    Norm spots an open gate.

Norm: There's a gate over there.

Wilkins pulls over and they get out to investigate.

Wilkins: That's strange, this gate is wide open and there's no security.
Norm: Kind of suspicious. I'm going to take a look around.
    Wilkins: Yeah.

They walk up the path to the compound. There's a car sitting in front of the compound.

Norm: Wonder whose car that is?
Wilkins: This might not be the right place.
Norm: We won't know until we look.

Norm goes to the front door and looks through the glass.

    Norm: Looks dark in there.

Just then, Detective Lewis comes out of a door on the side of the compound. Norm goes to other side of the building avoid being caught. Lewis gets in his car and drives off. Norm goes back over to Wilkins.

Norm: That was the Detective that investigated the Charles shooting.
    Wilkins: Yeah, that was him.
Norm: What is he doing up here?
Wilkins: Something fishy is going on.
Norm: He said something about the airport, but I think someone is still inside.
    Wilkins: Let's go around back.

Wilkins and Norm go to the back of the compound, where there is a lighted service porch and an SUV parked. There are boxes
    sitting just outside the SUV.

Wilkins: Looks like someone is trying to leave.

Norm takes out a flashlight and looks in one of the boxes. It's full of file folders. Norm pulls one out and finds a letter with B.P.'s name on it.

    Norm: He's here!
    Wilkins: What?
Norm: This letter has his name on it, so this has got to be him.
Wilkins: Well, now to find him. If he's trying to leave, we need to be ready to follow him, so let's get back to the car.

Suddenly, the service porch door opens and out steps B.P.

B.P.: What the hell are you doing here?
    Wilkins: My God.
B.P.: I'm giving you ten seconds to get off of my property.
Norm: You tried to kill my brother, you dirty--
B.P.: He should have known never to cross me, because when someone crosses me, they pay for it.

    B.P. pulls out a gun,

B.P.: And you'll be very sorry as well if you don't get out of here right this second.
Norm: You're gonna pay for what you've done.

Norm charges B.P. and they start fighting for the gun. B.P. manages to break free. Norm is still on the ground. B.P. aims the gun
at Norm, Wilkins tries to stop him, but the gun goes off. Cut to black.

Carol walks in on Henry and Trish talking, saying that she needs an expense report from Trish. Henry says that he needs to get back to work and leaves. After he leaves, Carol remarks on what a nice person Henry is. Trish tells her mother not to get any ideas, that he's just a friend. Carol says that when she met Trish's father, they started out as just friends. Trish says that she isn't interested in Henry that way. Carol then asks her if she's having a hard time moving on from Joseph. Trish scoffs and tells her she's completely over Joseph, but Carol doesn't believe her. She says she can tell Trish doesn't want to let Joseph go. Trish tells Carol it would be best if she backed off, since part of the reason her marriage didn't work was Carol's constant meddling.

Edmund gets a call from his estranged wife and the first thing he ask her is how she could abandon her kids, he says it's fine if she was tired of him, but leaving their sons was unacceptable. She tells him that she made a mistake and that she wasn't ready to be married and have a family, but he says that she should have thought about that before she married him. She says that she's staying at her parents house now and asks if the kids can come visit, but Edmund gives her a stern no for an answer, saying that he doesn't want his sons around her so soon after she left them.

Lynette lands the job at Number 37 and is asked to start immediately, but Jim still isn't warm to the idea. He asks her why she feels the need to work when he has provided for her and the children. Lynette tells him it isn't about money and if he doesn't understand that she's not going to waste time arguing with him. She then tells him that she has left dinner in the kitchen and that she will be home by 11. As she leaves, Jim tells her if this is what she really wants, he will try his best to positive about it and support her, but that she has to be patient with him. She thanks him and then runs out the door and Jim stands in the door with an expression of anguish.

Tyler sneaks into the office at the Novi store when no one is there and starts rummaging through files. As he says to himself that all the good stuff is probably buried in the corporate office, he sees a folder marked confidential and opens it. A look of excitement comes over his face as he reads through the file. He looks in another file cabinet and finds another folder with a disc marked "For McGregor Only". Just then, Henry opens the office door and asks Tyler what he is doing.

JC goes to Anna and voices his concern about Tyler working in the store, saying that he doesn't trust him. Anna says she's never heard anything bad about Tyler and JC says that in school Tyler always made it clear he didn't like the McGregors, because his father was laid off from a job at one of their factories. Anna responds by saying that it happened awhile ago and that Tyler has probably let it go. JC says that he doubts Tyler has forgotten anything and is likely has reason for coming to work for them. Anna says she doesn't really see any need for concern, unless something suspicious happens. JC tells Anna that waiting for something to happen is not the smartest idea and she should keep a sharp eye on Tyler.

Edmund asks Stephen for help with the custody battle, but Stephen says he doesn't have much experience with family law. Edmund says that he wants someone he knows to handle the case and Stephen suggest that it would be better to go to an attorney who specializes in family law, but adds that if he can't find anyone suitable, he will take the case himself. Edmund says that he's afraid that he might lose his children, but Stephen says that Edmund has always been a good parent and has plenty of people to vouch for that. Edmund then mentions that his mother-in-law is willing to testify in his favor if necessary and Stephen says that that is a very good thing to have in one's favor in custody fight.

Trish tells Carol about the confrontation she saw Cody having with someone that he claimed was a customer. Carol remarks that some customers can become belligerent for some reason or other, but Trish says that Cody was acting strange and that it seemed like much more than a difficult custom. Carol says that Cody has been away for so long, it's possible that he might have connected with some unsavory people in his travels. Trish says that she thinks it's best if Carol had a talk with Cody about it, but Carol rejects the idea saying that she's trying to rebuild her relationship with Cody and that she doesn't want to do anything to get in the way of that. Trish says that it's important to find out if he's in any trouble before they can repair their relationship.

Estelle brings Anna a hot tip about a small chain of department stores in Minnesota on the verge of bankruptcy. Estelle says that buying them out and starting regional chain out there would be the perfect test of the new partnership. Anna says that she always has wanted to expand out there, but never could come up with a reasonable proposal. Estelle says that they could create a outlet chain under a new name as a joint venture, with designer items for half the price of regular stores. Anna says she likes the way Estelle is thinking and says that she would like to see an outline of what Estelle has in mind. Estelle says that they have to act fast if they want to out maneuver potential rivals. Anna asks Estelle if Carol would be interested, Estelle says that she pitched a similar idea to Carol about another chain years ago, but Carol wasn't interested.

    Evan: Who are you?

Norm: I'm a lawyer, Norm Donahue.

Evan: But I didn't call any lawyer.
Norm: I know, but I have my reasons for being here.
Evan: Did you say your name was Donahue?
    Norm: Yep.
Evan: You wouldn't happen to be related to--
Norm: Cody is my brother, the one you framed.
Evan: Then why do you want to help me?
Norm: To be clear, I am not doing any of this for your benefit.
I'm trying to get information on who tried to kill my brother.
Evan: I'm going to say this up front, I didn't have anything to do
with what happened to your brother. I admit that I bought that gun in his name, but that was it.
Norm: With the charges you're facing, rubber checks and money laundering, I'm guessing you will get some serious time.
    Evan: I figured that.
Norm: But, if you tell me everything you know about B.P. Charles, I can try and arrange a plea deal.
Evan: What's there to know, he's dead.
    Norm: Let's not pretend.

Norm pulls the photographs of B.P. out and puts them on the table.

Norm: You can't tell me that's not B.P. Charles.
    Evan: What if it is?
Norm: Now is not the time to play games. You can either tell me what you know or risk spending a very long time in prison.

Lynette is at the CoffeeRoom when Greg comes in and approaches her.

    Greg: We need to talk.

Lynette: I got few minutes before I have to leave, so sure.

Greg: It's about what happened last night.
Lynette: You've been thinking about it?
Greg: Yeah, I didn't get any sleep at all. When we kissed it felt so right, but at the same time I knew it was so wrong.
    Lynette: Me too.
Greg: I'm starting to think I shouldn't counsel you anymore. I mean, as I doctor I'm obligated not to get involved with a patient.
Lynette: The kiss was just an impulse.
Greg: I think we both felt something. Besides, it's not just the kiss, I feel that we are connected on an emotion level
that is not appropriate for a doctor and patient.
Lynette: I can't deal with this right now, especially since Jim has told me he wants to try and fix things.
Greg: That's great and it's all the more reason that I think I should refer you to another therapist.
Lynette: If you think it's for the best.
Greg: I'm positive it is. I care about you too much to cause you any more strain.
Lynette: You haven't caused me any strain, you've been a friend and helped me through a very difficult time.
Greg: I've crossed a line I shouldn't have. I'm supposed to help fix marriage, not break them.
Lynette: When we kissed it was mutual, you aren't the only one to blame.
    Greg: I know.
Lynette: Then you shouldn't beat yourself up about it.
Greg: Like I said, it's more than that. It's the way I feel. I don't think it's right that I feel this way about a married woman.
Lynette: We can't control what's in our hearts.
Greg: But we can keep ourselves from doing the wrong thing.

    Greg hands her a card.

Greg: That's the number to very good marriage counselor. She been practicing for years and is very good.
She can definitely help get your marriage back on track.
    Lynette: Okay.

Greg leaves. As he steps outside, he lets out a sigh.

Greg: I just had to fall for the wrong one.

Norm: I'd guess you'd prefer years in prison then.
Evan: How soon can we get a deal?
Norm: As soon as you tell me what you know about B.P. Charles.

    Evan hesitates for few seconds

Evan: Is it a sure thing I'll get a reduced sentence?
Norm: I think it's a sure thing, the federal prosecutor has cut deals with others in exchange for testimony.

Evan hesitates again, but eventually starts to ta

Evan: Fine. I bet on a lot of horses in Detroit, I ended up on a huge streak, thought was unbeatable.
Until I made a huge bet, over $20,000 because I was so sure I was gonna win. The horse ending up losing and B.P. Charles came after me.
He said the only way he would excuse my debt is if I bought a gun in Cody Donahue's name.
    Norm: Then what happened?
Evan: I did it and brought the gun to him. Then, he told me what the other part of his plan was.
    Norm: What was that?
Evan: He wanted me to shoot him. I told him that it was insane and that I wouldn't do it. He then decided to bring my family
into the equation and threaten them.
    Norm: So you did it?
    Evan: I didn't feel I had a choice, I didn't want risk my family's safety.
Norm: Let's get to the rest of the story.
Evan: Well, after he was shot, I don't know much of what happened, all I know is he survived.
Norm: So he is alive? Do you know where he's at?
Evan: My guess is that he's somewhere in the mountains, he was drove off i a sport vehicle after he met with me.
Norm: Is that all you know?
    Evan: Yep.
    Norm: All right.

    Norm gets up to leave.

Evan: How soon do you think you can cut a deal?
    Norm: What deal?
Evan: Don't play games with me.
Norm: You created you fate, live with it.
    Evan: You dirty--

    Norm leaves.

Flash forward to Wilkins office a little while later, Norm rushes in.

    Norm: He's alive.
Wilkins: You got Peters to talk?
Norm: Yes, he said that B.P. survived the shooting.
    Wilkins: How?
Norm: Never mind that now, we've got to find out where B.P. is right now.
Peters said he could be in the mountains.
Wilkins: Of course, there's a route that leads up there, it's where people go when they don't want to be bothered.
Norm: How soon can we get there?
Wilkins: Right a way, but there's a chance he might already be gone.
Norm: I know that, but there's a chance we could be able to nab him.

Yvette is with Cassandra at the CoffeeRoom, discussing Cassandra's reasons for being in town

Cassandra: Let's get down to business, shall we?
    Yvette: Yes.
Cassandra: I've was rather cryptic about some things in our last meeting, so I'll get right to the point. I need you to help me find someone, someone very important.
Yvette: And who is this very important person?
Cassandra: His name is George Lightner, he's my nephew.
Yvette: Okay, so why you want to find him?
Cassandra: He is the key to everything.
Yvette: (sarcastic) Well, that's a whole lot of information.
Cassandra: You'll find out more about him soon enough.
Yvette: I'm still not sure how this could of any use to me.
Cassandra: If everything goes right, you could end up in control of the company.
Yvette: Your beef was with my father, so why are you coming to his daughter for help? It makes no sense.
Cassandra: I know that you want control of this company and will stop at nothing to get it. I needed someone on the inside and you're the only person I think can help me.
Yvette: All right, so where do you think this George is at?
Cassandra: Somewhere in Canada. I am a bit concerned, he hasn't contacted me in quite awhile.
Yvette: None of this makes sense.
Cassandra: Years ago, he worked at a McGregor's corporate office and got his hands on some very sensitive company files.
Yvette: In other words, he stole private information.
Cassandra: Let's not quibble over little details like that.
Yvette: I'm sorry, but I don't like how any of this sounds.
Cassandra: Well, what's done is done, so let's just figure out how we are going to find George.
Yvette: I'm afraid I might end up regretting this, but I'll go along with it.
    Cassandra: Good choice, dear.

At the Donahue Estate, Cody, Norm and Carol are meeting with Private Detective Wilkins over his findings.

Wilkins: I went to the gun shop and I talked to the owner and his daughter, it turns out that Cody's name was signed in a ledger, but the description of the person who bought the gun doesn't match Cody.
Carol: I don't understand, why didn't the police know that before?
Wilkins: Because the police only talked to the owner, not his daughter who actually sold the gun. All the owner did was show them the ledger, he never gave a description because he wasn't at the store that day.
    Cody: Thank god.
Norm: Do you know anything about who might have purchased the gun?
Wilkins: I'm working on finding that out right now.
Carol: This means that they don't have a case.
Norm: We can get the woman who sold the gun to testify at the hearing, you'll be in the clear.
Cody: Even so, I still want to find out who tried to set me up and who really shot B.P. Charles
Carol: Let's just make sure you are officially in the clear.
    Norm: Right.
Wilkins: Whenever you're ready to find the person, just contact me.
    Cody: Thank you.

    Wilkins leaves. Carol hugs Cody.

Carol: I'm so glad that's over.
Cody: It's not all the way over for me. Somewhere out there, there's someone who tried to frame me and I'm going to find out who it is.

Meanwhile, somewhere in a hotel room

Woman: You know, you are a lucky man, you almost died.

A man steps out of a bathroom walking on a cane, it's B.P. Charles

B.P.: You know what they say, you just can't keep a good man down.

Off B.P.'s smirks, fade to black.

Cody is shocked to see a story about his gambling debts in a tabloid and is afraid that Carol will see. Trish has already seen the paper and asks Cody what is going on. Cody makes Trish promise him, that she won't tell anyone else his secret and she agrees. Cody explains that he made a few bets to try and get some extra money and got in over his head and now the bookies want their money. Trish says that he should have told someone about this before, because things like this are potentially dangerous. Cody says that it has become dangerous, because there is a debt collector following him around and wanody thanks her for helping him. Trish then says that they are then going to find away to straighten things out.

Estelle, Joseph and Anna have called a meeting with the owners of Shadrach's, the chain they are trying to buy. The owner of Shadrach's asks for a complete buyout, because of bankruptcy. Anna asks if the internal administration of the company is in good or bad shape and Shadrach says that it needs some restructuring because a lot of people had to be laid off. Joseph says he's not sure it would be a good idea to take on a company in such poor condition, that it could pose more of a risk than potential gains. Estelle says that the stores are already in place and that they could hit the ground running and that the poor internal structure is not a problem that can't be fixed right away. Joseph agrees with Estelle's viewpoint and offers Shadrach a price. Shadrach asks for a slight higher price, so Joseph doubles the offer and Shadrach accepts. Shadrach remarks that just before the meeting received a call from Carol Donahue offering him a deal, but it was much too low. Anna is afraid that Carol may try to cause problems for them, but Joseph says that he'll deal with any stunts Carol tries to pull.

Yvette has charted a private plane to the Upper Peninsula and landed near the small rural town she learned of in her father's documents. When she arrives in town, she searches for an address and eventually finds it. She knocks on the door and an elderly woman opens it and asks who she is. Yvette explains who she is and the woman immediately says she doesn't want to have anything to do with anyone named McGregor. Yvette says that she is here to get information about why her father was sending money to this address. The woman says that she doesn't know of any money being sent there and that her father wouldn't have any reason to do that. Yvette asks how she knows her father and the woman says that he put her family through a terrible situation and them closes the door. Yvette is now more determined that ever to find out an answer.

At the McGregor Estate, Leigh has just finished tucking the kids in and comes into the kitchen where Edmund is.

Leigh: The boys are sleep now, so I'm going to go on home.
Edmund: Don't leave just yet, I want to have a talk with you.
    Leigh: Sure.

She sits down at the table.

Edmund: You know, there is a lot of things I've wanted to say to you since you decided to come back.
Leigh: I think you said some of them at the custody hearing and none of them are nice.
Edmund: Nothing like that. I've been doing a lot of thinking and I think we should at least try and be civil to each
    for the kids sake.
    Leigh: I agree.
Edmund: And I think it would be in their best interest if you dropped the custody suit.
Leigh: I'd rather let the court decide.
Edmund: Why put up a fight when it isn't necessary? I'm not going to stop you from seeing the kids.
Leigh: You say that now, but once your mother gets to you and starts filling your head with garbage, you'll change.
Edmund: I have a mind of my own.e
Leigh: Are you sure about that?
Edmund: You don't know anything about me.
Leigh: We were married for a long time, I know just about all there is to know about you.
Edmund: I'm not going to sit here and argue, but rest assured, if you continue this case, you will lose.
Leigh: Don't be so sure of yourself, just because you have the McGregor millions doesn't make you a fit parent in the eyes
    of the court.
Edmund: With your recent track record, you have no room to question my parenting.
Leigh: Look, I'm trying to make things right, so you should give me some credit.
Edmund: Yes, but what are your real intentions? Don't forget that your own mother came to me and said that you were only
    after money.
Leigh: My mother and I haven't been on speaking terms for years, she refuses to say one good word to say about me, everything I do is wrong to her.
Edmund: She seemed to be telling the truth to me.
Leigh: And if you believed her, that makes you a damn poor judge of character.

    Leigh leaves.

    Meanwhile at B.P's hotel room.

Woman: I still don't really understand the reason you went so far to get back at this guy.
B.P.: Because, he crossed me and thought he could get away with it. We'll see how smart he thinks he is facing a first degree murder charge.
Woman: It still amazes me how you pulled this off.

    B.P.'s phone rings.

B.P.: Hello? What do you mean you have to drop the charges? I've put to much money into your pocket for you to back down, you better find away to make those charges stick.

    He slams the phone shut.

B.P.: It looks like I'm going to have to get back to Michigan to let this DA know I mean business.
Woman: You think that's wise, most people there think you are dead, what if someone spots you?
B.P.: No one will know I'm even there, except the DA and few cops and they certainly aren't a threat. I'll slip right in and right back out.

Over at Yvette and Chester's house, the phone is ringing and Chester answers it.

Chester: Hello? Who's calling? Okay, hold on a second. (cover receiver) Yvette, someone name Cassandra is on the phone for you.
Yvette: I'll pick it up in the other room.

In the bedroom, Yvette picks up the phone.

Yvette: Why are you calling me here?
Cassandra: It is very urgent, I think I've located what part of Canada George is in.
Yvette: All right, so what next?
Cassandra: We've got to go up there, it's critical.
Yvette: (sighs) When do we have to go?
Cassandra: The flight leaves at midnight, it's ten o'clock now, so we'll have to head out now.
Yvette: Now? I can't just walk out of the house now, Chester might get suspicious.
Cassandra: I'm parked outside your house right now, so be here in no more than five minutes.

    Cassandra hangs up.

Yvette: Cassandra? Hello? Shoot, what am I going to do. I don't even have time to pack.

Yvette hurriedly packs a suitcase and then goes into the den where Chester is.

Yvette: Dear, that was the office, one of our investors for a project backed out, so I have to go to London to try and get it straightened out.
Chester: You have to go right now?
Yvette: If I'm going to get there by tomorrow, I've got to.
Chester: Okay, do you want me to take you to the airport?
Yvette: No, they're sending a car for me.

Yvette throws on her coat and rushes out the door and Chester has a puzzled expression on his face.

Outside, Yvette gets into the limo

Cassandra: I thought you'd never make it.
Yvette: Well, I'm here now, so let's roll.

    The limo pulls off.

Henry comes to Trish's house, still angry about his argument with Joseph.

    Trish: What's wrong?
    Henry: It's Joseph.
Trish: Oh, what did he do now?
Henry: He brought up that job in Minnesota again, when he knows that I don't want.
Trish: I thought there was an understanding on that.
Henry: There was, but somehow it came up again.
Trish: They are starting a new chain, I'm sure they do need qualified management.
Henry: Don't tell me that you actually believe that?
Trish: I'm just giving him the benefit of the doubt.

The doorbell rings and Trish answers the door. Joseph walks in.

Joseph: I came over here because I knew that he was going to run over here and try to make me out to be the villain.
Henry: Don't try to turn this around.
Joseph: I offered you a job and you went off the deep end and start making accusations.
Henry: I was just trying to make you be honest for once.
Joseph: Or maybe you just felt insecure and threatened, so you couldn't help but lashing out at me.
    Trish: That's enough.
Henry: That's real interesting, I'm going to feel threatened by someone who couldn't even keep his wife.
Trish: Stop it right now, both of you.
Joseph: Henry, don't bother coming into work tomorrow.
Trish: Joseph, please don't do this.
    Joseph: It's done.

    Joseph storms out.

Trish: I'm sorry, I can't believe that he would act like that.
Henry: It's okay, I'm probably better off not working there anyway.

Cody is at the CoffeeRoom when Norm comes in and sits down at his table.

Cody: I hope you called me because you have some more information on the case.
Norm: This thing goes deeper than I thought. It seems that B.P. Charles had quite a few mob connections.
Cody: But did you have any luck finding out who bought that gun?
Norm: I was about to get to that, apparently it was just some mob random lackey who bought the gun in your name.
Cody: Well, where is this guy?
Norm: I don't know, the P.I. had a hard time tracking him. I don't even have a name, all I know is he works for the mob.
Cody: Shoot. None of this makes any sense though, it someone in the mob wanted B.P. out of the picture, why frame me for shooting him? I've never had any connections with the mob.
Norm: You've been cleared of any wrongdoing, you don't have to make sense of it now.
Cody: I don't take someone trying to frame me lightly, I want them to pay for this.
Norm: You don't want to get in too deep here, the people that B.P. was connected to are dangerous, they'll
blow your head off for looking at them the wrong way.
Cody: If you think it's too dangerous, you don't have to continue on this case, but I'm going to get to the bottom of this.
Norm: If I were you, I'd just be happy that I wasn't in jail facing a long trial.
Cody: This is just too important for me to let slide.
Norm: You've already put enough stress on Mom, so for her sake, you need to cool it on this.
Cody: She doesn't have to know what I am doing.
Norm: When you come to your senses, let me know.

    Norm leaves

In a hotel room in Montreal, Yvette is leaving her suite and sneaks down the hall to Cassandra's suite. She uses a credit
card to open the door and walks into the suite.

Yvette: Let's find out a little more about you, Cassandra Lightner.

Yvette starts looking in drawers, but finds nothing. She then spots a medium-sized booked on the nightstand that's marked "Private"

    Yvette: Hello, what is this?

Yvette opens the book and a baby picture falls out. On the back it says "George".

Yvette: So that's the mysterious George, wonder what he looks like now?

Yvette begins reading from a page of the book.

"December 4th 1966, I am having a wonderful time spending an early Christmas with Andy. We took a marvelous sleigh ride in the freshly driven snow, then had dinner at a quaint little restaurant. I only wish that he had more time to spend, but I know he has to go back to work."

She skipped some pages and reads another entry.

"January 7th 1967, Andy was kind enough to send for me while he was on a business trip in New York. I had a chance to see all the sights the city had to offer"

    Cassandra comes into the suite.

Cassandra: What the hell are you doing in here?
Yvette: I think I have a question of my own.

Cassandra snatches the book from Yvette's hands

Cassandra: I don't appreciate you snooping through my things.
Yvette: I take it that the Andy that's referred to in that diary is my father, Andrew McGregor.
Cassandra: You had no right reading it.
Yvette: I sensed that you had a deeper connection to him than you led on.

Cassandra sits down in a chair and clutches the diary to her chest.

Cassandra: It was a long time ago, we were married once. We kept it a secret, because at the time my family would have never approved of me having a black husband.
Yvette: According to the dates, he had to have been married to you when he was already married to my mother.
Cassandra: At the time, I didn't know that. Eventually he just stop writing and visiting, I had no way to contact him. It wasn't until years later that I learned he was married, when I saw an article in a business digest about him. I realized then that our marriage had been invalid.
Yvette: So this whole little scheme was all a way to get revenge for what he did? It wasn't really about the real estate scheme he pulled off.
Cassandra: I never even lived in that town, I found out about that when I was digging around for information on him a few years ago.
Yvette: And how does your nephew, George fit into all of this?

Cassandra sighs and turns her back to Yvette.

Cassandra: He's my son with Andrew.

Cassandra keeps her back turned to Yvette. Off Yvette's shocked expression, fade to black.

Carol is confronted by B.P. in her kitchen when she returns home.

B.P.: Did you rethink that decision?
Carol: (gasps) What are you doing in my house?
B.P.: I think that I'm having trouble getting through to you.
Carol: I paid you off, now get out of my house before I call the police
B.P.: Not until you hear me out.
Carol: I have heard what you have to say and I'm not interested

    Cody walks in

Cody: Back off, man. It's one thing when you mess with me, it's another when you involve my family.
B.P.: Defending your family, how noble.
Cody: I'm not playing around here, I've told you to stay away from my family.
B.P.: Oh, I'm really afraid of me rich kid who ran away from home.
    u
Cody grabs B.P. by the collar

Cody: Now you listen to me good! If I ever see you around here ever again, I'll make you wish that you never were born. Do you understand me?

    B.P. pulls away from him

B.P.: You're gonna find out the price of threatening me real soon.

B.P. storms out of the kitchen door.

    Cody: Are you all right?
Carol: Yes, just little shaken up.

Lynette comes home to find Jim packing his things.

Lynette: So this is what it has come to?
Jim: I think it's best if we just spent a little time apart.
Lynette: You're running away. I expected more from you.
Jim: I'm doing this to try and save our marriage.
Lynette: If you would just give me a little consideration--
Jim: I've tried that, but it's not enough for you. You refuse to be patient with me.
Lynette: I've been patient with you, but so far it's gotten us nowhere.
Jim: It's not only me and it's not only you, we are both to blame for this mess. Now I've come to the conclusion that we need to be apart if we are going to save this marriage.
Lynette: Walking out isn't the solution, Jim.
Jim: I'm not walking out, I'm just going to stay at a hotel until we both can fully sort out of feelings.
Lynette: If you walk out, I don't know what it will do to us.
    Jim: I'm sorry, I don't have a choice.

Jim grabs his suitcase and leaves. Lynette walks out of the porch and watches him drive off, with a look of frustration on her face.
