  1. I wonder if old scripts from a good 20 years ago are used for the Sonny schtick, with the names just crossed out for the new ones. Lather, rinse, repeat, yawn.
  2. Susan Flannery (ex-Stephanie) is apparently moving to Australia! Susan Seaforth Hayes posted a picture with her, Susan, and Suzanne Rogers (Susan Flannery having played Dr. Laura Horton on Days in the '60s!), mentioning it. The 'three Susies at lunch', as SSH put it: https://www.instagram.com/p/DM_dJBiSTAK/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  3. I understand that Alison Sweeney has other things going on career wise. I also understand that fans love her as Sami. But the never-ending writing gymnastics to have the character flit in and out at will - often disrupting the show's flow - drags things down, in my opinion. I will be controversial and say, if Alison is unable or unwilling to come back to Days for a longer stint, recast Sami. She is needed on canvas with Johnny's issues. And if Carrie (even if it was short lived) and Eric can survive recasting, so can Sami. But the one foot in, one foot out method serves no purpose.
  4. Not sure about the latter, but Keith Hamilton Cobb popped up as a judge on Law & Order back in 2022 in the episode, "Free Speech".
  5. Some things should not be remade. This is one. With Norman Lear no longer with us, this is doomed.
  6. Bye!
  7. My oldest of two brothers was a metalhead and loved Ozzy, so I knew of - and even liked - a few of his songs. No denying that he paved the way for the metal genre. (My other brother was into Rush, Triumph, and Tesla (no, not the cars!)...) May Ozzy Osbourne RIP. God now has one heck of a chaotic angel on his hands.
  8. I never had use for Gwen. The money angle doesn't change that. She still seems aimless. And, as pointed out, living in the DiMera mansion makes zero sense, to me. But then, Gwen never made sense, so it's just continuing that trajectory.
  9. That's pretty cool! (I was always surprised how many AMC actors appeared on Hunter! Mark LaMura, Dorothy Lyman, Robert Gentry, and Kathleen Noone were others, with Noone/Gentry again playing a couple!). It always sort of mystified me why NBC didn't try to have its California-based soap actors appear, too! Oh, well.
  10. Oh, wow. I never knew that was Janet Hubert! (For the record, the actor playing her other half was none other than Darnell Williams (ex-Jesse Hubbard, AMC))!
  11. Yeah, even to we Gen X'ers. Maybe that rep/thought process isn't fair, but it existed. (My own grandmother loved the CBS soaps, so that rep was probably based on some truth.) As a whole, growing up (I was a teen in the 'mid 80s until I hit 20 in '92, for reference!), the CBS soaps were considered old-fashioned. I know when I hit high school/college, as ratings-challenged as they were, the NBC soaps seemed popular in my age group, especially Days. But General Hospital on ABC was popular, too. (Although I started on All My Children as a kid, since my late mom watched that from day one.) All that being said, Eileen Fulton was the prototype of Erica Kane, the big "name" of As The World Turns and earned her respect. May she rest in peace. Living to 91 is certainly a victory, signalling a life well lived.
  12. Say what, now?! Glad I missed that, too. She also had a thing with Roman, didn't she? Which makes the fact that Roman is now hitched to Kate sort of icky, but I know - it's a soap. But still! Apparently, Billie has a thing for older men.
  13. I get a kick out of the fact that Olivia D'Abo got a nomination. I know her best as the Moriarty character to Vincent D'Onofrio's Sherlock-like detective, Det. Robert Goren, on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Ironically, her character's name was Nicole Wallace, not to be confused with the political personality of the same name. Also remember her as eldest sister Karen Arnold on the original Wonder Years.
  14. Speaking of Laura and her poorly-written death, Gwen should be rotting in prison. Hell, she shouldn't EXIST, but I'd take prison. Why is this retcon nobody still skulking around? If the show loves Emily O'Brien so much, keep her Theresa and call it a day. At least that character has actual ties to the show. But this whole deal with Xander and Sarah mooning is already OLD. And I say it as one that likes/liked the pairing once upon a time, but if this is the best the writers can do? Move Sarah on to...someone. Let Xander/Gwen out smug each other. But nothing new is happening here, and I fail to see why Gwen needed to come back at all.
  15. I don't watch B&B and never have, but it usually had a few noms. The show must be the pits right now to be shut out so far! (I say so far because the Supporting Actor and Actress nominations are not out yet.) I wonder how CBS feels about it? Though, honestly, these awards are barely relevant these days with so few soaps. Seems almost like a Cracker Jacks prize. Still, though, to have so few shows and still get shut out? Ouch.
  16. At least Nashville is a helpful code word to identify those that exist in a certain orange atmosphere, I guess.
  17. Maybe this is why Julian McMahon decided to leave the grind of the Dick Wolf show, FBI: Most Wanted a few years back. (Others who have worked on his shows have talked of the very long, strenuous hours.) Either way, this is such a shock and just so sad. How I wish a cure for cancer would be found. May he rest in peace.
  18. I know that Spanish version of "Crying", even if I had never seen Mulholland Drive. It's fantastic. May Rebekah Del Rio rest in peace. Fifty-seven is still too young to die.
  19. I know the pairing was polarizing, but Ric seemed to get story and "meat" when paired with Alexis. His entire pairing with Liz seemed wasted on chaining Carly to a wall and stealing her spawn. I will admit that Ric/Liz could work if someone actually invested in them, but that's the problem: No one seems to really give a damn. And, at this juncture, with his moral compass permanently broken, Ric seems better suited to Ava. I do feel for Becky Herbst, even if I never liked Liz too much. She has been loyal to the show, but the Jason pairing was short circuited, Zander used Liz to get over Emily and was never really going anywhere, and she got paired with freaking Franco. And we know how Lucky shook out. Liz just seems like an afterthought herself, no matter the writing regime.
  20. A bit OT: But I am currently watching the Twilight Zone episode, "Third From The Sun", from 1960, apparently the show's first season [even had the different opening theme and graphics!], and Denise Alexander is playing the teenage daughter of a government official who warns his wife of an impending nuclear war.
  21. Yeah, Sorel was forgettable. But Bunny was certainly fun!
  22. Wow, Hunter connections galore! Bummed about Joe Marinelli. And I had no idea that Charles Bateman had passed last year!
  23. Damn, I loved Bunny Tagliati [and Joe Marinelli playing Joan Crawford as God's receptionist in heaven when Mason ended up there was a riot!]. Rest in peace, Mr. Marinelli. Thanks for the laughs and a complicated character that wasn't just played as a joke!
