Nikki marrying Josh was pretty random, especially since it happened not long after Nikki’s ill-fated marriage to Brad and as @kalbir mentioned it occurred at a point where Victor and Nikki were to reconcile before Victor left to look after Hope in the wake of Cliff’s death. I don’t recall there being much animosity between Victor and Josh at all other than Josh occasionally annoyed that Victor could show up at the ranch anytime and Victor questioning Josh about Veronica and giving Josh the usual “Don’t hurt her” warning. Josh had been the doctor to save baby Noah so I think there was mutual respect. Heath Kizzier was a part of a trio of bland leading men hired for prominent new characters in 1996 along with Leigh McCloskey (who was very boring in Dallas) and Granville Van Dusen. I’m not sure what was going on with the casting department at the time but they made some odd choices. I know the writing wasn’t the strongest at the time but none the three showed any charisma nor were dynamic at all to make any lasting impressions. I mean was anyone at all interested in the Ashley/Kurt/Hope triangle? I did feel bad for Hope who’s exit was her furious that Victor had married Diane. Jack and Nikki had zero reason to interact at by 1997 so I don’t think Josh and Jack had much interaction aside from being acquainted with each other. I recall Jack and Jill were teased in the fall of 97 when things weren’t going too smooth with Keith anymore for Jill.

I hate this is what JKJ Phillip has become. And for what? All over a misconception that Brady & Chloe had sex when they were talking about Rafe and Nicole? Shades of the worst of JER. Phillip should have sought out Stephanie Johnson to make Chloe jealous or something.

For once there’s a lot I can agree with SOD including Best Couple, Worst Mystery, Worst Triangle, best and worst returns, best new male and female characters, and worst character. Still there’s a couple head scratchers. Skyle had talent? I am thankful the Fisher/Baldwins are underused, and Chelsea’s stroke as Best Story? Hell no.

What you don’t remember 2004 when Brooke was begging an underage Thomas to stop sleeping with Amber while attempting to bond with those awful teenage identical twins who played Steffy and Phoebe with helping them with their trigonometry homework? 🤣 KA’s first day wasn’t bad at all, although the cliffhanger with Ridge and Taylor was extremely forced.

That wig on Krista is definitely horrible horrible 🤢 As far as the Noah on Y&R spoiler goes there is now speculation that Noah made up the whole London thing as a way to get Tessa back. Sounds like typical JG [!@#$%^&*] for real 🤢😵‍💫🤢😵‍💫

So glad Lucas, Sami, EJ and Nicole have been the highlights of the week so far a nice break from possession 2.0 What isn’t a nice break is Phillip/Chloe/Brady. Completely unwatchable, predictable and FF material. Not to mention to destroy Phillip like that is lame.

Rey could have easily been a Dylan recast instead of the last family member of a failed family. With Rey and Sharon really having zero story at the moment I don’t think Rey will last much longer. I mean the Sharon and Esther conversation yesterday just felt awkward and forced, like why are they gossiping about Chance?

I figured that Flo and Shauna are going to be on their way out given neither have had stories for the entire year now. Can’t believe Sally was trashed for Flo. Yikes

I liked Gerse as Will because he was a normal ditzy teen as he was in real life per his interview on SoapTalk lol. The previous Will before him was a fat kid bully who beat up Abby and Zach and the story was very awkwardly written IMO so his Will being a good kid with troubled parents was nice for a change. And towards the latter part of his run Will started to come on to his own with his absolute disgust with his Uncle Austin and EJ but for whatever reason the show didn’t explore it further until a few years later. Gerse also came off as gay/flamboyant towards the end but the show thought CG was getting too old for the role so they brought even though I think Patton and Massey are older than him.

Oh Sami and Lucas were great but the stories they were given were not. A food fight in Salem Middle school’s cafeteria?Sami and Kate having endless fantasies over killing each other including a fantasy about Kate literally being a piranha? (I kid not I remember Sami looking into the aquarium and seeing Kate’s face on it 🙈) and the mess that was Brandon’s return. Lord. I remember a lot of people were annoyed by Christopher Gerse as Will but looking back I totally bought him as the gay teen who shot EJ because he loved his parents together but Days took a few years to get that point after endless fan speculation. I had already seen the cage plot get used on Y&R and B&B but looking back it’s so weird that Nicole would get caught up in the schemes of Jan Spears. At least I do remember Nicole telling Jan that the name Jan Brady would be fitting for her but Jan asking Nicole what the hell is the Brady Bunch? 🤣

Trying to write Days like Passions and also ignoring a lot of character growth. Probably the only thing I liked out of JER’s second was putting Lucas and Sami together but the rest was just utter over the top nonsense. Melaswen and serial killer aside we had Nicole giving Chloe necrotizing fasciitis of all things, Shawn in a cage, Mimi’s abortion and lies, one legged Phillip and Tek and Lexie having sex in a jeep in front of a blind Abe who thought it was the Jeep’s hydraulics was a disaster.

The 1980-81 line-up that CBS arranged really floundered except for GL as the other three were in transitional periods and just collapsed going directly head to head with a very strong ABC lineup did no favors. Y&R is also possibly the only soap with two golden eras between the 70’s and the early 90’s and it was all thanks to the 1982 transition.

So true. I wonder what the dynamics would have been for Steve and Patty had the characters lasted into the 80s and 90s as well. I could simply imagine her bossing around Patty to find a good man to settle down with and have lots kids lol.

LOL @kalbir about Allison being a poor man’s version of Vanessa. I remember the first time I saw her watching a 1982 episode was I taken aback by how nasty Allison was however Katherine put her in her place when Allison was chastising Kay over her sex life to which Kay responded back “At least I had sex more than just one time” when Allison speculated that Nikki might as well be Katherine’s daughter. I don’t think Vanessa ever faced the pushback from another force. Allison at least did lose everything as didn’t Earl divorce her or at least leave her for good? Any opinion on Mary Williams? I think she qualifies as a messy matriarch. Even though she didn’t have the money to scheme like other the women mentioned, she definitely was a nasty in your business you know what lol.

Hopefully Josh Griffith gets nothing but coal for Christmas this year……..

LOL Rick/CJ. I almost had forgot all about them. That was when the really hefty heavyweight kid played CJ right? At the time it was silly to me that B&B had a story about two preteen boys having a food fight. Everyone berated Brooke for letting her kids be out of control, but if I remember right didn’t Rick and Bridget actually prefer to listen to Taylor instead? 🤣 I wonder whatever happened to those kids. I recall the CJ actor was on a sitcom after leaving B&B for year or so but don’t remember what happened to preteen Rick actor and preteen Bridget. Actually young Rick was decent, I thought it was a total cop out to blame Rick shooting Grant on playing too many violent video games (and then the shock of the shooting causing him to blackout the memory forever) when it was quite obvious Rick really resented Grant in his life. But B&B didn’t want to take the risk of having a killer kid on the show? Grant in my opinion was Macy’s best pairing and I enjoyed the couple so much in their short time. I think it was careless to kill off Grant as he had a type of charisma and edge the other male characters on the show didn’t have. I also liked Macy with Deacon but the writing got silly; Amber and Macy having a WWE match in wedding dresses at the wedding, Brooke attempting to get both Deacon & Macy drinking again, Amber holding Little E over a cliffs, failing chandeliers. It was all way too much for something that had started out pretty promising.

LMAO. I would have at least thought that the show would have used Wednesday as a cliffhanger to have Chance return; instead we got one of the grossest fantasy episodes yet.

This is beyond sad! I loved Lisa Brown as both Iva and Nola, such a dynamic actress for two unforgettable characters. I was happy GL brought Nola back for that show’s final episodes. With Michael Tylo’s recent passing I guess that Nola and Quinton are reunited in Heaven now. RIP to one of daytime’s most underrated gems.
