  1. Totally. Y&R does nostalgia and anniversaries really well (Neil’s death/the KSJ tribute, the episodes following Dina’s passing), but that’s not the show day-to-day. Y&R has such a deep roster of great actors we never see. Yet all those vets have to do is show up, and the show immediately goes to a different level.

  4. One problem is that the cartoonish tone of that scene clashed with a situation that should be handled more with more sensitivity—a young woman struggling with the trauma of rape. It’s a problem many soaps have had over the years, and it’s even more glaring now.

  6. “Ok, well if I’m fired, Imma go finish her off.” Andy cringed at that. 😬
  7. I’m curious if CK dictated the no-black-guy edict (which I’m skeptical about) or if Y&R imposed it. As it stands, CK has certainly had more A-story opportunities than any non-Latinx actress of color in daytime in the past 10-15 years, perhaps because her “racial ambiguity” made it safe to pair her with the show’s golden [read: white] boys. As we’ve seen, Y&R has repeatedly marginalized its black male characters. Cane, who wasn’t particularly well-drawn, had a whole family built around him (played two of the most famous soap actors ever) after his Chancellor ruse was uncovered. Would a black male character been offered that same level of development? Would Lily have been given (ridiculously SORASed) children if paired with a black man?
  8. Potomac reunion trailer has dropped...
  9. James Wlcek is and always has been gorgeous. Helen Gallagher is still with us at 94. I wonder how she’s doing these days.
  10. From Dallas 🇺🇸
  11. Watching Grey’s again, and I forgot how annoying I found the Sorkin-esque style of every scene requiring a rambling, self-indulgent monologue.
  12. I’m Team No One in the Chris/Michael fight. They both behaved like twats there, and I can’t stand Michael.
  13. The trailer for the Wendy Williams Lifetime movie:
  14. They’re taking over Joy Reid’s weekend slots officially, Cross on Saturday and Capehart on Sunday.
