If I were writing this show, I'd go along with the idea of Johnny and Chanel getting a baby, but I'd show fairly quickly how ill-prepared and overwhelmed Johnny is by fatherhood - like, he'd want to go out and have fun, Chanel says they can't because the baby's sick or something, and Johnny doesn't understand why they can't just leave the baby with a nanny - with Chanel realizing she basically married a manchild who was never prepared to live in the real world.

ALL: With BTG garnering so much attention, should the other networks jump on board the Daytime Train
Obviously, I can speak only for myself, but a daytime soap just isn't a daytime soap to me if it doesn't runs five days a week, 50-52 weeks per year. I mean, I could go along with taping two episodes per day, so that the team has a six-month hiatus to rest and recharge, but I still would need to know it'll be there, every Monday through Friday, uninterrupted, with no hiatuses or breaks. Of course, YMMV.

I wonder if that was the same Peter Andrews who had worked for years as a producer and director on GL.

Knots Landing
If KL had been about four young/newlywed couples living in the same cul-de-sac, Kenny and Ginger might've had more story. Unfortunately, as I've said in the past, the inclusion of Gary and Val made the Wards redundant.

ALL: With BTG garnering so much attention, should the other networks jump on board the Daytime Train
If nothing else, @Melroser's hypothetical production model would present the entire team - cast, crew and staff - the opportunity to recharge physically and mentally, and avoid the burnout that tends to happen when soaps are taped year-round. That, in turn, might lead to less cast/writer turnover. I think I've said this before, but bringing back the 15-minute soap would be a real "full circle" moment for the genre, allowing viewers once again to enjoy their stories in the time it takes them to eat lunch or have a "coffee break" from their jobs.

Although I think a 15-minute show would be much more desirable for streaming purposes, I definitely think your production model is doable, @Melroser.

Honestly, I fear now, not just for Ukraine, but for Zelenskyy's own safety as well. The man could very well become a martyr for his people at the hands of Putin.

I said the same thing when Ron Carlivati wrote that now-infamous scene with Monica and "Lester" sparring at the nurses' station. Granted, Lesley and Monica never were the best of friends, but I thought a lot of the animosity between them had dissipated by the time Denise Alexander left in '84. Plus, since when did people call Lesley "Lester"?

ALL: With BTG garnering so much attention, should the other networks jump on board the Daytime Train
God knows it ain't because of the writing (sorry, "Yellowstone" fans), lol. I, myself, have long advocated for a soap set in the Great Plains region: Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, etc. Frankly, I've seen enough soaps supposedly set in the Midwest to last me the rest of my days.

I think @All My Shadows's idea for a rural-based soap has merit and potential as well. Such a show would offer viewers glimpses of a way of life that isn't often depicted on television, and certainly not on soaps.

On the one hand, @All My Shadows, I agree with you. The genre needs fresh characters and storylines - and ones that are rooted in reality - if it wants to reclaim its' relevance. But, on the other hand, I think those who have argued that an EON reboot in particular could be successful today make a very good point. (As a matter of fact, I'd even go along with an EON reboot that starred an African-American male as Mike Karr!)
