  1. He would've been a much better replacement for Gregg Marx as Tom than Scott Holmes. I totally forgot about Linda Cook, lol.
  2. If Ron Carlivati were writing, there'd be the requisite "Generations"/"Set It Off"/"Independence Day"/"Kill Bill"/"The Wrong..." references.
  3. I still think it's incredible how Douglas Marland and Laurence Caso snagged MKA, Richard Bekins AND Terry Lester for a major storyline that revolved around Elizabeth Hubbard. They knew the story they wanted to tell would be big, so they grabbed the biggest acting guns they could find to help sell it.
  4. Lucy was like Emma Channing on FC: she was there, but nobody knew what to do with her; and whenever she was absent, you didn't miss her all that much either.
  5. Yep. Whatever good ideas Sally Sussman had as HW/EP, nothing was clicking 'til someone (either Sally herself, or NBC) brought in Jorn Winther to tidy up the place. (Of course, NBC cancelled the show anyway, but I blame that decision more on their impatience with the ratings/demographics than I do on Winther). Look, I think MVJ has done a masterful job setting up her show for greatness, but it's been over a year now, and I feel as if I'm still watching the first week. You've laid the groundwork, gal. Get on with it.
  6. So much for Joshua Morrow insisting that Nick was too "together" to become a junkie. And just where the hell are they going with Jack and Patty Jane? Again, it doesn't thrill me to say "Poor Diane."
  7. I think most of us prefer this Willow to the former one, lol. Unfortunately, it seems, our current political environment precludes mentions of anything that might appear to be progressive or "woke," as those on the right are wont to say.
  8. I concur! As soon as I heard that BTG would be produced in Atlanta, I was hoping that Jennifer Holliday would make an appearance, since (last I heard) she resides there.
  9. Bite your tongue! I'll be damned if that p.o.s. DAYS outlives me!
  10. I must admit that whore-shaming is not the thing to do in a post-#MeToo society.
  11. Yeah, when Agnes Nixon said, "Make 'em laugh, make 'em cry, make 'em wait," I don't think this is what she had in mind.
  12. Good point! And I agree with pretty much everything @Vee has said in his last two posts.
  13. I don't! If she has improved, that's great, I wish her nothing but the best. But I still think she sucked donkey balls on AMC.
  14. Oh, is that what they called her UFO encounter, lol?
  15. Marrying the show's producer will do that to you. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: if I had been Bill Bell, and I had learned that MTS and Ed Scott were engaged, I would've sat them both down and said, "Congratulations! Now, which one of you's willing to leave the show?". I love how MTS hand-waved that years later, too. Jeanne Cooper: "Now, about this issue you had with me -- " MTS: "Oh, Jeanne, that was so long ago!" JC: "True, but what the hell was it about?"
  16. Between B&B, DAYS and even AMC, you could cast about ten new soaps just with folks who have axes to grind against the former Deborah Morehart.
  17. It wouldn't have ended well, because even Marland would've questioned TG's late-stage re-interpretation of Luke Spencer as an unrepentant thug and child killer who felt his "angel" held him back from being his true self. In fact, I could see Richard Culliton texting Marland and quoting Sofia in "The Color Purple": "Don't trade places with me, Miss Celie, he ain't worth it!" At some point, Marland likely would've transitioned into writing exclusively for the theatre, with the explanation that he had made enough money from writing soaps to do the kind of work he wanted without network or sponsor interference. ("Daytime's a young writer's game, and I'm just too old and too comfortable to fight the 'suits' anymore over stories that I want to tell.")
  18. Yep. I'm afraid we'll see plenty more celebs come out of the political content, either because so-and-so's reelection has emboldened them, or because they're afraid of alienating Middle America. (Fleetwood Mac was right: heroes ARE hard to find).
  19. Speaking as someone who always thought Thom Christopher and Carlo Hesser were equally overrated, I'll be looking forward to this very, very much, lol.
  20. You mean, besides the fact that he was a poor man's David Soul who couldn't act for [!@#$%^&*]?
  21. Believe me, folks here at SON wouldn't have been any better. Certain individuals (who shall remain nameless, but who'd consider JER or Megan McTavish to be the gold standards) would carp about how "boring" ATWT was under Marland II, and how much more exciting the show was once Goutman had his "dream team" of Leah Laiman and Jean Passanante back. (And you know I'm right about this, whoever you are).
  22. Oof, that brings to mind all those "Gambler" movies he made. Talk about not knowing when to fold.
  23. I hope Jaclyn Smith talks about her life with Davis in her upcoming memoir, lol.
