As The World Turns Discussion Thread
. Thanks, but no thanks. (Yeah, I know, I'm a prude, lol.) Meanwhile, I give AMC 2.0 props for daring to tell a sex trafficking story w/ Cassandra. I only wish it had been told better.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
All I can say is, if Coltin/Stephen/whoever had put as much energy into his performances on GH and GL as he did into parting various people from their monies IRL, he might still be employed in daytime.

The Politics Thread
Honestly...? Although I'm sure to eat my words sooner rather than later, even Scott [!@#$%^&*] Pruitt couldn't be any worse than what we've got right now. Things are so bad under our current, lame-duck governor that a teacher and state employee walkout over education funding, or the lack thereof, is set to happen on Monday (4/1), cutting the current school year short by over a month, with NO way of knowing when the state legislature and the educators' union will arrive at some consensus. (And given the fact that every year for the past several has seen this state in a HUGE economic crisis, with the legislators unable to come up with anything beyond a mere Band-Aid to remedy our situation...well, let's just say, something tells me that the new school year is going to begin with our teachers STILL on strike.) In fact, now that I think about it, I'm hard-pressed to think of even ONE governor in our state's history who wasn't incompetent on some level. But, it never really matters, because no matter WHO is in charge here, or on which side of the political aisle they stand on, the fact of the matter is that they're still presiding over the state of Oklahoma, which has been hanging on by a proverbial thread for DECADES.

We don't care for him much either, here in Oklahoma.

"The Conners" Discussion Thread
I think the "Married...with Children" cast would be up for a revival, but only if Michael G. Moye were involved. They never cottoned to the writer/producers who took over after he had left.

"The Conners" Discussion Thread
I used to be so anti-reboot/revival. But these days, I really find myself hankering for a reboot of "Welcome Back, Kotter" (with a completely new cast, of course).

All My Children Tribute Thread
Not to hate on Saundra Quarterman, because I'm sure she gave her all to Angie and to the show, but she is a textbook example of what happens when you have a casting director who thinks "any n***a will do." Just because she was Black and a female, that didn't mean she was right for Dr. Angie Baxter Hubbard.

I wish William Grey Espy was back at Y&R. Heck, I wish MORE of the show's original cast were still on the show. Y&R NEEDS more Brookses and Fosters.

In my mind, that trucker was really Brad Eliot.

I forgot about the Charlotte Greer story. Thanks for the reminder. IMO, Ron Hale had better chemistry with Ilene Kristen. Then again, I'm always partial to off-beat pairings.

Same. Cenedella was one of the Pollocks' associate writers, so he might have known how they had intended to play out the stories they left behind.

Ryan's Hope Discussion Thread
You know, maybe it's for the best that the post-1981 episodes aren't readily available. Aside from Claire Labine's return in 1987, it seems as if RH's glory days were behind them.

To me, that's the scary part. Stormy makes him look like...less a man, so I wouldn't be surprised if Trump were to nuke some nation JUST to prove how big a man he THINKS he is.

I'm wondering that as well. THE DOCTORS's canvas feels so restricted right now.

Ryan's Hope Discussion Thread
Personally, I always felt like the music rights issue was just an excuse, and that there had to be another reason for SN's not running any episodes past 1981. Does anyone know what kind of ratings RH reruns scored on SN? I suspect that maybe the viewership numbers fell off around that point -- which is understandable, since (IMO) that was a rough period for the show -- and that that had something to do with their decision.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
Thanks! I guess I had always assumed that Billy was Dan's biological son on account of a statement that Carolee made to Alec Baldwin's Billy, saying he was acting more like Dan than Steve. I'll never understand why the show took such great pains not only to keep Nick and Althea apart, but to make Nick look like an absolute boor as well. Especially because, I don't think ANY of Althea's other love interests ever measured up. Even if Gerald Gordon wouldn't have remained on the show, I don't think he was irreplaceable as Nick, or that Elizabeth Hubbard couldn't have sparked with the right recast. At the very least, if Bill Bell had written for this show and this couple, I've no doubt that he would have introduced a sibling of Nick's for Althea to become involved with, thereby creating one of his classic love triangles.

To most who make their living at covering the news, Stormygate must seem mundane compared to the 1,001 other clusterf**ks swirling around TrumpCo.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
Q: Who were Billy Allison Aldrich's biological parents? I've always assumed that he was Carolee's son by Dr. Dan Allison. However, as I rewatched scenes leading up to Dan's suicide, I heard Carolee say that Billy's mother was Barbara Ferra, who was also Toni's mother (IIRC); and I heard Dan say his bio dad was "some musician named Webb." (Also, now that I think about it, it does seem preposterous for Dan and Carolee to have a 12-year-old son at that point in the story, when Richard Higgs -- a good actor, by the way, who should NOT have been disposed of so quickly, as I think Dan could have been a great antagonist for years to come -- had been on the show for only a year.) Side question: how were Toni and Billy related to Dan? Toni called him "Uncle Dan." Was he a paternal uncle, a maternal one, or...?
